Ems-Jade Canal
The Ems-Jade Canal provides the connection between the Jade Bay and the Ems in the interior of the country. With a length of 72.3 km, it is state water and is operated by the Lower Saxony State Office for Water Management, Coastal and Nature Conservation (NLWKN). The maximum permitted speed is 8 km/h, the clear passage height at normal water level is 3.80m and the maximum unloading depth is 1.7m.

Chronik - JYC | Jade Yachtclub Wilhelmshaven e.V. Der Jade-Yacht-Club e.V. wurde am 14.02.1971 als ein reiner Wasserski- und Motorbootverein gegründet. Initiator und Gründervater war der inzwischen verstorbene Dr. Hellmuth Langguth, der auch bis 1978 Präsident war. Die Geschäftsführer hießen Peter Sprute und Hans-Dieter Schmidt.
Der Ems-Jade-Kanal wurde in den Jahren 1880 bis 1888 gebau. Seine Entstehung verdankt er dem Wunsche Preußens, seinen als Enklave im damaligen Großherzogtum Oldenburg gelegenen Kriegshafen Wilhelmshaven über den Wasserweg mit dem preußischen Ostfriesland zu verbinden, wozu Wilhelmshaven politisch gehörte.
Willkommen im Club! Der Yacht-Club Wilhelmshaven wurde im Jahre 1969 als Motor-Yacht-Club Wilhelmshaven e.V. von einer kleinen Gruppe begeisterter Wassersportler gegründet. Der Verein hat sich aus kleinen Anfängen heraus zum drittgrößten Wassersportverein in Wilhelmshaven entwickelt und besteht heute aus über 170 Mitgliedern mit etwa.
