The port of Fano is situated on the Adriatic coast of Italy around 30 miles NNW of the port of Ancona and eight miles SE of the harbour of Pesaro . The port, like many along this coast, consists of a canalized river basin, the Canal Albani, and two additional basins at its mouth, one of which contains a relatively new marina, the Marina dei Cesari , with berths for around 400 yachts of up to 30 metres. Severely damaged during World War II, the town nevertheless retains traces of its Roman and mediaeval past, including a triumphal arch erected in 2 AD by the emperor Augustus, an impressive 15th-century castle, and some sections of the town’s 15th-century walls. The entrance to Fano is shallow (minimum 2.7 metres) and should not be attempted in strong onshore winds.

During the summer months, the prevailing winds in the Adriatic are light to moderate coastal sea breezes. In spring and autumn, northerly winds are more frequent and can quickly rise to near gale force, especially in the northern Adriatic, where the much-feared “bora” is caused by high pressure over the mountains to the NE coupled with low pressure over southern Italy. Fortunately, the fiercest “bora” is normally to be expected in the winter months. Thunderstorms are occasionally experienced in spring and especially autumn and can be accompanied by violent winds of gale force and above. Luckily they are rarely long-lasting. In the southern Adriatic, the “Scirocco”, a S/SE wind blowing up from North Africa which can last for several days, is more common. Unlike the “bora”, which can arrive without warning, a “scirocco” tends to build in strength over 24-48 hours, sometimes reaching gale force (especially in winter).

The entrance to Fano consists of a narrow channel between a long breakwater, orientated WNW/ESE, which protects the basin in which the marina is situated and a shorter breakwater extending N from the shore on the western side of the entrance channel. Minimum depths in the entrance are 2.7 metres.

Warning: Entry is difficult and potentially dangerous with strong onshore winds.

Note: along this stretch of the Adriatic coast tidal ranges can exceed 1.0 metre at springs, so judging the tides right can make a significant difference to safe access in most of the shallower harbours.

Visiting yachts normally berth in the Marina dei Cesari in the northernmost basin, although space may also be available alongside in the Nouva Darsena , the commercial basin immediately S of the marina, or along the Canal Albani (for smaller yachts). The quays on both sides of the Canal Albani are managed by several yacht clubs, Club Nautico Fanese (telephone: +39 0721 807909), the Italian Lega Navale (telephone: +39 0721 830702); Yachting Club (telephone: +39 0721 801320) and Fisherman Club (telephone: +39 0721 801484). Maximum depths in the Nouva Darsena are 2.3 metres and in the Canal Albani 2.0 metres. There are few facilities at these berths.

This is superyacht-standard bespoke building but offered in an 18.9-metre all-aluminium model, with zero compromise on quality for zero-compromise owners. There’s simply nothing else like her.”

First among equals

The first WiLder 60 has been built for a European owner and her custom layout and finish has been completed to the owner’s exacting specifications. Coupled to the performance hull, which was developed by the naval architecture team at Wider Engineering, is an interior that features two twin guest suites amidships plus a forward owner’s cabin with inviting centreline double and starboard-side ensuite. Between the two is a saloon equipped with designer galley cabinet and a relaxation area with sofa and television.

Interior touches include luxurious leathers in contrasting shades of beige, marbles, brilliantly conceived lighting and beautiful gloss finishes that draw on Wider’s extensive experience building some of the world’s finest superyachts. The sumptuous and sensual textiles and textures hint at elegant debauchery – the very essence of the WiLder 60’s raison d’être.

Up top, the WiLder’s appeal to the wild side is clear -there’s a forward party deck, aft social deck with sunpads and alfresco dining area, and a starboard helm. From here, the owner will be able to fully enjoy the sparkling performance of the WiLder 60, propelled by twin MAN V8 1300 engines, achieving a cruising speed of 35 knots and a maximum speed of 40 knots. A 325-nautical-mile range ensures that no party is too far.

“The WiLder 60 is a seductress for those owners who want to experience the very best in everything – design, quality, and wild fun on the water,” says Marcello Maggi. “This is tailor-made taken to the next level in a model we think is transformative in its size bracket. The WiLder 60 was wild as a concept – the sort of challenge that Wider loves to embrace – but this first launch proves that we can build something beyond an owner’s wildest dreams, even at 19 metres.”

While the first WiLder 60 was launched at the Fano Vision Hub, where the testing of new models takes place, the WiLder series will be built at Wider’s Superyacht Hub in Venice, where two more bespoke WiLder 60s – each set to stun on their respective launches – are already in build.

The much-anticipated arrival of the first WiLder 60 also marks Wider’s second significant milestone in this 2024, following the launch of the WiderCat92, the brand’s first multihull. Both these striking additions to the Wider fleet are not only symbolic of engineering and design talent that lies within the company, but also of its path of growth from groundbreaking superyachts into all areas of the bespoke yacht market.

New Wider Yachts shipyard nears completion in Fano

Italian yacht builder Wider Yachts is nearing completion on its latest shipyard currently under construction in Fano. According to a recent progress report, the 18,000-square-metre facility is on track to begin operations in February 2023.

At the Club Nautico Fanese , a few steps from our hotel our guests will attend a basic or advanced sailing course with  federal FIV instructors . Recommended for children and adults.

Marina dei Cesari is a real 'port in the city': the new dock is in fact just a few steps from our hotel. More than 420 berths for boats up to 40 meters.

Departing from the port of Fano the  motor trawler Flipper is able to let you spend a great day at sea, which, depending on the requirements can be carried out with sightseeing or fishing mackerel, skipjack tuna or even the thresher shark.

Silent-Yachts becomes sole owner of Italian shipyard

• June 30, 2022

Silent-Yachts, the Austrian-owned manufacturer of silent-electric catamarans, has become the outright owner of its Fano facility in Italy.

Silent-Yachts has become the sole shareholder of its Italian production site, which is located in Fano on the country’s Adriatic coast. The A ustrian-owned company produces its Silent 60 and Silent 80 series of models at the shipyard.

The site includes five construction sheds with 22,000sqm of covered space and a similar amount of outdoor area. The new range of electric Silent-Tenders will also be produced at the Fano facility, which includes an Innovation Centre for researching and developing new models, technologies and solutions.

Michael Köhler, founder and CEO of Silent-Yachts, said: “Our acquisition of the facility in Fano is a great opportunity for the city and for the nautical sector in the area. By later this year, we will employ approximately 250 people, both directly and indirectly, and we have expansion plans already under discussion to increase the production capacity of our sites and acquire new ones.”

Silent Yachts operates with the help of a modern shipyard located in Italy

Following the expansion of the company over the past years, we acquired our very own production facility in Italy during the summer of 2022. Located on the Adriatic Coast in Fano, it consists of several state of the art hangars for crafting and outfitting our solar electric yachts  and  electric tenders . With the help of 5 construction sheds and more than 22.000 m² of interior space, our team is capable of delivering upmost  levels of quality Italian craftsmanship when it comes to our Silent 60 series, Silent 80 series and well as our Silent Tenders.

Following our philosophy of maximizing the use of  renewable energy sources , the roof section of our construction shed is covered with solar panels.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.
