Lürssen Delivers Superyacht Areti

After completing sea trials, Lürssen delivered the 279-foot Areti last Wednesday, so the owner can spend the summer in the Mediterranean. The newest Lürssen will make its public debut at the Monaco Yacht Show. Winch Design , responsible for both the interior and exterior, gave Areti a quasi-classical profile, with a high-riding forward section and tall radar tower on the sundeck. The hull is cream-colored, balanced nicely by the white superstructure and gray accents. Areti ’s owner chose this color scheme to match his previous yachts.

The yacht was built to the Passenger Yacht Code (PYC), which allows for more than 12 passengers. Areti has eight guest staterooms and a full-beam master suite on the main deck. The owner worked closely with Winch designers to create an interior with lavish woodwork and neutral fabrics, and entertainment areas with a “beach-chic vibe,” as Lürssen describes it. The spa, for instance, has a sauna, hot tub, full-depth plunge pool, relaxation area, and “experience” shower (with multi-temperature water jets, chromatherapy lights, and aromatherapy scents). The spa connects to the large swim platform at the transom for the full ocean experience.

Winch also designed in a number of private deck spaces for the owners and guests to enjoy the yacht without intrusion. The owner’s suite has its own forward deck, with Jacuzzi and sunbed, along with a breakfast table. Areti also has a helipad in the bow, allowing easy transfers for the owners and guests.

The owner, chairman of a Russian natural gas conglomerate, had owned three other Aretis before this one. He kept Areti I and Areti II (identical 127-foot yachts built by Burger Boat Co.) in the Mediterranean and the United States so he would have one on each continent. Later, he took delivery of the 198-foot Areti from Trinity Yachts , the largest all-aluminum yacht the U.S. shipyard has built. This larger, bespoke Lürssen Areti promises to open a new yachting chapter for the owner and his family.

Superyacht of the Week: 85m Areti

Last year we saw the world debut of Lürssen’s 85-metre M/Y Areti at the Monaco Yacht Show. In the run up to this year’s most prestigious yachting event which will take place from the 26 to 29 September, we take another peak at Areti and celebrate the luxury superyacht in all its glory.

Delivered in 2017 by the German shipyard, Lürssen, Areti’s luxe interior and sleek exterior styling is courtesy of British studio, Winch Design . A juxtaposition of dark wood and light fabrics is complemented by warm lighting. “Her interior has a traditional feel with an American classic twist,” comments Andrew Winch at Winch Design. The steel hull and aluminium superstructure project was built to the Passenger Yacht Code (PYC) and DNV GL standards. .

Areti can accommodate up to 18 guests in a nine-stateroom layout with an interior volume totalling 2,850gt. Guests on board are spoilt for choice when it comes to entertaining and relaxing outdoors. The superyacht also includes a spa with a hot tub, full depth plunge pool and relaxation area , which connects to a large swim platform at the transom. The large swim platform is accessed via staircases that lead down from the aft deck, while ahead of the owner’s suite is a private area fitted with a Jacuzzi and a spacious sunbed with breakfast table. This is just one of the private deck spaces for the owners and guests to enjoy in the utmost privacy.

The owner of this 85-metre custom superyacht has owned three Areti's prior to owning this larger and bespoke  Areti by   Lürssen.

Lurssen's 85m 'Areti' at MYS

'areti', lurssen’s latest delivery is making her world debut at mys….

Lürssen, it’s a superyacht titan and a name synonymous with nautical expertise.

In fact, when the famed German superyacht builder announced its 2850gt leviathan Areti would make its international debut at MYS 2017, we at SuperyachtNews couldn't help but get excited.

Areti’s proportions are certainly impressive. At 85m and with a beam of 15m, the steel-hulled superyacht has about the same volume as a small moon; however, as this superyacht hails from the renowned drawing boards of London design-house Winch Design, she is a synthesis of extraordinary intricacy and intimacy.

Take the promenade sidewalks that connect bow helideck to remaining yacht space, Winch Design has ensured walkways are of ample size so guests can walk side-by-side instead of in single file.

Bearing the same cream hull and white superstructure as the owner’s previous yachts, Areti is visually conservative and mature. In many ways, Areti is like a Patek Philippe Grand Complication - an exquisite piece of engineering embodied in a classic-style that never ages.

Aboard, the main-deck corridor leads to a mid-ship double-width glass door, an entryway into the heated marbled-floor elevator connecting the first four decks of this penta-deck behemoth.

Accommodation for 18 is split across two main-deck forward suites, two VIP cabins and owners cabin on the upper-deck and remaining four guest suites positioned astern of the lower deck.

The master-stateroom is (as you would expect of a Winch-Lürssen collaboration) an opulent Shangri-La. Flanking the entrance corridor are dressing rooms and separate en-suites, each an acreage of space. Featuring watch cabinet, in-shower television mirror, several handbag and shoe racks (for her, not for him) and sizeable Jacuzzi bath, the level of luxury aboard will be rarely surpassed.

Panoramic glazing frames the master-stateroom. Revealing private owners terrace, Jacuzzi spa for four and extensive lounging and dining space, access to the bow helideck is also an easy affair.

At the heart of the yacht is a power-plant formed of twin MTU 2,000kw engines affording Areti an alleged maximum speed of 17 knots and a range of 6,000 nautical miles.

Following the Espen Oeino designed 104m Amadea , H2 designed 123m Al Lusail and Winch designed 74m Aurora , 85m Areti brings Lürssen’s total length of delivers for 2017 to a smidge under 400m, and according to SuperyachtIntelligence 4,580m since the turn of the 21st century.

At 198’, Trinity’s newest superyacht, the tri-deck motor yacht Areti, launched last week as the longest aluminum yacht to date from the renowned American boat builder. With considerable fanfare, owner’s representative, Captain Ted Kavalieros and Billy Smith met on board to celebrate her move from land to water; final outfitting will be completed in coming months with her delivery date scheduled for early summer 2011.

This stunning yacht—the newest Areti in her owner’s succession of so-named yachts—is custom designed and articulates  Trinity’s acclaimed naval architectural and exterior styling. A critical specification was for versatility as superyacht Areti will enjoy the waters of the  Bahamas and the  Med equally. To meet this challenge, Trinity’s aluminum construction allows the yacht to reduce draft to less than 8’, making her one of the largest yachts in the world capable of accessing the myriad Bahamian islands and harbors her owner so enjoys.

Yacht Arieti’s interior is designed by  Patrick Knowles Design . From her full beam elevated master suite—with two ensuite master heads located a level down via sweeping staircases—featuring full forward panoramic views and six guest staterooms to her large sky lounge and flybridge with custom hot tub, Areti offers maximum appreciation of oceans and ports.

Her interior features mahogany wood veneered panels with cherry burl inlays, the beautiful Pacific Northwest Madrone (with pink-orange burl accents) and redwood while her mosaic of marbles (including onyx and granite) are arranged in a stunning combination of colors and tones in impressive inlay patterns. Like all Patrick Knowles interiors, the  Areti Yacht  is at once a plush place of comfort and a most visually stunning environment.

Including a two-person elevator with access for all decks, M/Y Areti accommodates a total of 13 in seven staterooms (the VIP being on 01 deck with one guest stateroom on the main deck and the additional four below decks). For her active owner and guests, she houses a gymnasium, steam room and sauna, change rooms and a full head. She’s also well equipped for full enjoyment of sea and surf. Waverunners, water toys, bicycle storage, slings, tie downs, covers, cradles, a rescue tender with CISR-approved equipment and even a bow davit for temporary toy storage allow for full days in port.

Operation of the yacht is also well conceived with a total of nine cabins for 18 crew and a galley with large walk-in refrigerator and freezer. Yacht with 1,000 rounds of ammunition and fireworks burns in Marina del Rey

Marina del Rey’s harbor produced an unexpected light show Wednesday evening as a luxury yacht loaded with ammunition and fireworks burned for more than two hours before flames were extinguished, authorities said.

Flames leaped 20 to 30 feet from the 100-foot vessel, dubbed the Admiral, while live ammunition rounds could be heard firing from the boat, according to videos from the scene .

Thursday morning, the charred yacht was lying on its side, and the water around it was tinted red from the diesel fuel dumped from the vessel. A Coast Guard spokesperson said an estimated 4,000 gallons of diesel was dumped into the water. The total is not official as monitoring continues.

Los Angeles County Fire Department officials said two passengers aboard the boat exited safely. No information was available about the cause of the blaze.

An L.A. County Fire spokesperson said one individual suffered minor injuries, was treated at the scene and was released.

The boat, traveling at a high speed, crashed into the jetty near its slip, killing a man. It would have been much worse, if not for the quick thinking of a passenger.

Firefighters responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and eventually knocked out the flames at 10:33 p.m. The boat was declared fully submerged at 11:33 p.m.

The yacht’s owner, who was not identified, told fire officials that the vessel was carrying 1,000 rounds of ammunition and fireworks.

U.S. Coast Guard personnel confirmed they were on the scene evaluating cleanup options.

1,000 rounds of ammunition and fireworks were onboard yacht that burned in Marina del Rey: Owner

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. (KABC) -- The owner of a luxury yacht that erupted in flames and sank in Marina del Rey said 1,000 rounds of "unspent ammunition and fireworks" were onboard the vessel, according to fire officials.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department provided an update on the incident in a social media post Thursday morning.

The fire was reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at 211 Basin A, where flames engulfed the multi-level, 100-foot boat, the agency said.

Residents in the area said they heard multiple explosions resonating throughout the harbor as yacht was consumed by flames. Fire officials said two people were able to get off the boat uninjured.

Fire crews poured water onto the burning vessel, which later sank into the harbor.

An environmental hazard team was expected to arrive in Marina del Rey Thursday to assist with the cleanup of the burned vessel.

A United States Coast Guard Incident Management Team from Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach is monitoring the cleanup efforts, according to the Coast Guard, which said that the yacht "caught fire and discharged red-dye diesel."

"The fire did not appear to damage any other vessels in the harbor," the USCG said in a statement Thursday. "The Coast Guard is working with Patriot Environmental Services and Clean Harbors organizations to contain and recover the discharge from the yacht."

The yacht's fuel capacity was reported to be 6,000 gallons, according to the Coast Guard. Crews from California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Office of Spill Prevention and Response and the L.A. County Sheriff's Department are also assisting in the efforts.

The Oiled Wildlife Care Network was also notified and was on standby for wildlife response. "No observations of oiled wildlife have been reported at this time," the Coast Guard said Thursday morning. "For your safety and the safety of the animals, do not attempt to capture oiled animals." Witnesses were urged to report oiled wildlife to (877) 823-6926.

39m Burger motor yacht Areti I joins the market for first time

The 38.5-metre Burger motor yacht Areti I has been listed for sale for the first time with David Ross of Hamilton Marine .

One of only two built in 2007 by Burger, who David Ross described as the "Rolls Royce of US yacht builders", the full displacement, all-aluminium yacht has had one owner since new and has never been chartered.

Exterior design and naval architecture is by Don O'Keeffe , a long-time Burger designer, while the interior is by Douglas Richey . She was refitted in 2024 having always been impeccably maintained, mainly at Rybovich in North Palm Beach, USA, who fully repainted her in 2022.

Accommodation, including a full-beam, main deck owner's cabin with two bathrooms, is for an owner's party of 10. Two double and two twin cabins are located on the lower deck, all fine examples of Burger craftsmanship. There are quarters for up to eight crew members in five cabins forward.

Rich cabinetry is featured in Areti I's open-plan main saloon and dining room and also up in the skylounge. A 200-bottle Eurocave wine cellar and Yamaha Clavinova digital piano are two appealing features. The aft deck offers al fresco dining, as does the sundeck, where guests can also enjoy a circular hot tub and sit-up bar. Tenders are stowed aft on the bridge deck when underway. Meanwhile, stabilisers make for easy launch and retrieval as well as embarkation at the swim platform.

The 334GT, ABS-classed, MCA-compliant yacht for sale is powered by twin 1,300hp Caterpillar engines giving her a maximum speed of 14.5 knots, a "high" cruising speed of 13.5 knots and a range of 5,500 nautical miles at 10 knots.

The Financial Times reported on Sunday that the vessel has been held at port in Marina di Carrara, located almost 90 miles northwest of Florence, since it was impounded by authorities in the spring of 2022. For over a year, the Italian government has permitted the owner to continue paying for the ship’s staff, its maintenance and refitting of the vessel. But Italy won’t identify the owner.

Italy’s Finance Ministry said in a May 2022 news release that the superyacht had “significant economic and business links” with “prominent elements of the Russian government” but didn’t name the owner of the ship.

It’s quiet: the museum is only open three or four times a year for charity events; Shop with a Cop, Hospice Foundation of America and American Heart Association are those that benefit.
