Kinsale Yacht Club

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

We recently had dinner with friends at Kinsale Yacht Club. The food was spectacular, I had the Hake with a parmesan crust and it was to die for. The veg was seasonal and oh so fresh, none of the usual overcooked mush here ! The... wine situation is weird, we couldn't order from our table and put on the bill, we had to get it and pay for it at the bar. Guess the bar and restaurant are run by different people. It a busy yacht club with plenty of sailor types around. The food however far exceeded what we would have expected in a Club and certainly was far superior in both taste and value to anything else we had in the town of Kinsale. More

had a great dinner by mistake at the kinsale yacht club. we just found out it was open to the public, a new venture! the interior has recently been remodelled with a large balcony and restaurant seating in the window with a view of the... harbour. we asked who was doing the food our server mentioned Kevin the chef and owner at Forage and Find a local catering business was in charge of all the food. we decided to go for it, we ordered pork belly, oh my, super moist. a seasonal salad of quinoa and herbs. and the monkfish with beetroot essence, so freggin tasty! every bite was a delight. we were stuffed by the end so decided to share dessert, we went for the chocolate nemesis cake, which was heavenly light and devilishly rich. what a treat! we will definitely come back! the only thing we would say is there needed to be some background music, im not sure why they don't have any? on a sunny day ask to sit out on the balcony. The menu is very limited and the setting as a club house with fairly basic furnishings lacks any ambiance, however these are the only negatives and the only reason I haven't given a 5 star rating. As stated the menu was limited however the food... received was extremely well prepared and presented. I commenced with the pulled beef arancini served a portion of 4 with a nice little center salad constituting a very fine starter. This I followed with fish and chips served with mint peas a tartar sauce and some very nice chips, also ordered a side salad at €2, beat that for value. My partner had the burger which looked well and ate every bit as good as it looked. Finished off by a chocolate tart and an eton mess, all at what I consider to be very good value for money and eaten on a fine Saturday evening looking out the glass curtain walling out over the harbour. Also a word for the very nice friendly young man who served us, and called by regularly to check on everything, without being in anyway obtrusive. Definitely worth a visit for good quality and good value for money fair, there appears to always be a table available but lacking atmosphere for sure. More

Recent visit to Kinsale Yacht Club ended up with us deciding to dining within the club, not to be confused with normal club food this is fine upmarket restaurant dining albeit within the club house 3 mains consisted of fresh fillet of John Dory on... a bed of leak enfused mash potato with a delicate sauce with accompanied crab claws surrounding the plate, 2nd dish was a light lamb curry without cream deep eastern flavours distributed throughout the dish 3rd dish the club burger 100 % local produce cooked to perfection decent solid dish following a heavy day on the water All round well above par food for a sailing club menu has to be experienced to enjoy the quality Excellent variety of wines from the bar to complement the meal More

Had a wonderful meal tonight at KYC. Started with a divine strawberry salad with fennel, nuts and it was excellent. I've not had such an interesting combination of tastes. NWext I had Hake. Done to perfection with pureed cauliflower courgettes, beetroot. It all worked perfectly.... The staff were so friendly and hubby and I really enjoyed the whole meal. The chef was really excellent. I hope the sailing club appreciate the quality. More

This restaurant has it all: good food, great service, gorgeous views! We were there for a family meal in July. Although it was very busy and we had to wait quite a while for our table, it was all worth it when the food came.... Kinsale is famous for seafood so we ordered accordingly, and we were not disappointed. The fish pie was rich with all kinds of seafood and the crab claws starter was outstanding! All in all, our party of 6 had a most joyful reunion meal. More

Cruising with friends our first port of call was the yacht club. What a treat !. The interior has recently been remodelled with a large balcony and restaurant seating overlookoing the harbour. The shower facilities were faultless. We ate in the restaurant and four of... us shared a lovely antipasta starter, then I had the monkfish with beetroot essence, every bite was a delight. We finished with two yummy desserts that we shared as we couldn't manage one each. Chef Kevin O'Connell is outstanding. More

A great place to sit and have a glass of wine. Very friendly an excellent facilities. Lovely sheltered bar area and terrace. Very family friendly.

We attended Kinsale Yacht club as part of an organised event over the weekend of 5-7 September 2014. The entire experience was exceptionally good and great value. Anyone who could find cause to complain must be completely irrational ! On Saturday evening over 100 people... sat down to dinner, very comfortably seated in the open upstairs lounge. The decor & furnishings were exceptionally comfortable and inviting. The bar & catering staff were most courteous and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and they all had a 'can do' attitude. Every member of staff was dressed immaculately and was genuinely polite and professional. Dinner was superb and beyond expectation. Main course was a choice of beef stroganoff or a fish dish, served with broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes or salad. Dessert was a dressed fresh fruit salad followed by tea or coffee. The food and service were fantastic in every respect. Bar prices were as one would expect in a members club and really good value in a most welcoming atmosphere. Kinsale YC gets my highest recommendation and I would encourage visitors to the town to make a point of enjoying the marvellous facilities there. Hope to return again in the future. A real 5* experience, not to be missed. Well done KYC !! More
