Take A Cruise On The Barefoot Princess Riverboat In Myrtle Beach

By Life, Family Fun Team

Updated on March 31, 2023

riverboat cruise north myrtle beach

On our recent visit to Myrtle Beach, SC we had the pleasure to cruise on the beautiful Barefoot Princess Riverboat .      Riverboat cruises have a special place in my heart. The Barefoot Princess is the only riverboat cruise in the Myrtle Beach area which makes it even more special. My family and I truly had an unforgettable time that evening enjoying the beauty of the river, the food, the entertainment and each other’s company. My family and I even got to steer the boat!

About The Barefoot Princess Riverboat

The Barefoot Princess is 64 feet long and 24 feet wide. Not only is she a beautiful riverboat, she can hold 130 passengers, so she’s a good size. There are three floors on the ship so there is plenty of room to move around. They serve dinner on the main floor, a cash bar on the second with some dancing and music, and really amazing sight seeing on the open third floor.

Welcome Aboard

As you walk on the boat, you’ll see the boat is designed to be welcoming. We entered the boat through the lower level and we were welcomed by the dining room, which was set up beautifully. I think at that point, my stomach got a little excited by the dinner I knew was soon to follow.

Friendly Staff

When you first walk up to the Barefoot Princess Riverboat, you are greeted by very friendly staff. It was invigorating to see someone smiling at you and excited to see you. There is just something about a friendly warm smile that makes any experience that much better.

Bar and Drinks

There is also an exclusive bar and drink option on the boat. I did notice that they had a nice selection of mixed and bar drinks available. Plus, you can walk up there to get whatever you want and the bar tender is more than happy to accommodate you.

Music and Dancing

If you’re a huge fan of music and dancing, like I am, then you’ll love this part of the Barefoot Princess Riverboat Cruise. It’s such a fun part of the experience. The musician was welcoming in letting others join in on the fun. The music was REALLY a nice touch to experience on a 2 hour dinner cruise.

entertainment on princess barefoot dinner cruise

Enjoying a relaxing evening on a boat is one thing, but experiencing it on the Intercoastal Waterway is phenomenal. The trees along the bank of the river are beautiful. The water is sparkling and when we went, the weather was perfect. A really neat thing about the Barefoot Princess is that she runs, even if it’s raining. They are able to do this because the 1 st and 2 nd decks are enclosed and are even climate controlled.

Princess Barefoot River Boat Myrtle Beach

The Barefoot Princess Riverboat has an amazing menu. Each cruise has either a lunch or dinner listed and it includes food and drinks. You’ll notice that there is also a snack bar for you to purchase various drinks and snacks from. Our particular dinner cruise which was a more casual cruise included hamburgers and hot dogs and all the fixings. It was so yummy we had to go back for seconds!

A picture of the Barefoot Princess River Boat on the waterway.

You’ve planned your vacation to North Myrtle Beach and your itinerary is almost full. Beach? Check. Waterpark? Check. Shopping? Check. Parasailing? Check. But there’s a night that needs to be filled, and with as many awesome choices, it can be tough to decide. A great suggestion and a truly unique experience are waiting at the Barefoot Landing Marina with a sightseeing, sunset, or dinner cruise aboard the Barefoot Princess riverboat!

Standing alone as the only riverboat tour available along the Intracoastal Waterway, the Barefoot Princess offers guests a scenic and memorable excursion. Spanning over 60 feet long and featuring three levels, the Barefoot Princess can accommodate up to 130 passengers. The lower level offers a dining room for the dinner cruises, while the second floor has a dance floor, snack bar, and an observation deck and features entertainment and narration of the tour. Both these levels are climate controlled, while the third level offers comfortable open-air seating. The cruise directors recommend purchasing tickets in advance, as they often sell out quickly. There are also special event cruises that can be requested like graduation parties, reunions, corporate events, and proms.

For more information and to purchase advance tickets, check out the Barefoot Princess Riverboat website. Make sure to check it out while staying in one of our fantastic Barefoot Resort properties!

A dinner cruise was the perfect way to end my visit to Mrytle Beach. I cruised on October 11, 2017 on the 4:30 to 6:30 dinner cruise. The boat cruises down the intra coastal water way and it's a very nice cruise. The water is very calm. The crew was OUTSTANDING, friendly, helpful and very accommodating. My mother though she can walk doesn't get around as good as she once did, was in a wheelchair, a man by the name of Mike put her on the boat, and made sure that she was seated at the front of the boat so that she had a good view. They even let us fix our plates first before the called the rest of the guest for dinner. The meal was a buffet, there was a huge tossed salad with ranch and vinaigrette dressings, mashed loaded potatoes with plenty of bacon, green beans with sliced onions, pulled chicken with barbecue sauces to add if you wanted to, pulled barbecue pork with sweet rolls and banana pudding for dessert. The meal was delicious. The music was being played by a one man band/DJ, who was very good, to give himself a break, he would play music from a cd. Though I only had 3 other people dancing with me, we did the Electric Slide, the Cupid Shuffle and the Twist and danced that good meal off!! While cruising down the water way we were given a little history along the way, while viewing some of the beautiful homes along the river. Johnny Depp and Jimmy Buffet both have homes on the water way. If you get the opportunity to take this cruise please do so, this year will be your last chance, they're stopping the cruises because the docking area is being closed. Jimmy Buffet's sister is opening a restaurant and Barefoot Landing doesn't want the boats docked there. I'm hoping that someone else will offer the crew an opportunity to operate elsewhere, it would be a shame to lose this dining experience. Good Luck Barefoot Princess and thank you for such a lovely cruise!

We did the dinner cruise. The only reason this is getting 2 stars is the friendliness of the staff. The cruise: you are taking a 2 hour cruise of the Intracoastal Waterway from Barefoot Landing to Grande Dunes. This equals two hours of viewing the back of store fronts and people's backyards. The food was not good. There was a choice of pulled pork BBQ or chicken in some type of gravy. The BBQ looked like it might have been purchased at a grocery store and was warmed up in a microwave. There was some pre-mixed salad that I assume was poured out of a plastic bag. Drinks are extra. The music was okay; basically a lounge singer doing mediocre covers of Jimmy Buffett. If your expectations are low you may be happy with this. If you have any sense of what good food is, stay away....you have been warned.

Photo of Chrishel W.

This was the best from the food, to the music, to the view. I felt very appreciated on this boat.

Photo of Kemer P.

This is a fun way to enjoy a dinner on the water! This is a large 3 level boat with adequate air conditioning on 2 levels, the bar is open right when you step foot on the boat (a little pricey) the DJ/ entertainer was amazing and started playing as you stepped on the boat and was also your tour guide. There is a large dance floor for shagging, dancing and line dancing. The food is served buffet style in shifts so there is minimum waiting. The food is is not fancy but very good, chicken and barbecue, green beans and mashed potatoes and includes a salad as well with some amazing dinner roles. You see some nice houses along the way including a couple famous people (I won't spoil it) this is an excellent deal for wait you pay for it! Don't expect fine dining and lush amenities, wear casual clothes and talk to some strangers and enjoy the 2 hour boat ride, well worth it!

riverboat cruise north myrtle beach

Afternoon sight seeing cruise, we sat on the second level in the front of the vessel. The boat was air conditioned so you could sit inside and be comfortable. Very relaxing, a nice way to spend a few hours on the water.

My husband & I met our friends on 5/4 for the Riverboat tour. We had a relaxing good time. It was peaceful who wouldn't dream of having house like the ones we saw on the Coastal Waterway Didn't see any alligators, which was fine for my friend Gayl & I. The food was good, especially the beans & the mashed potatoes (best ever). I was the 2nd time on your Riverboat for our friends & the 1st time for us. We recently retired in Surf Side Beach. The music was a nice touch as well. The staff was great & everyone had such a wonderful personality. Carol Ware

We usually travel to Myrtle Beach once a year for our summer vacation. We were looking for something new to do so I found this dinner cruise. My wife found some coupons on visitmyrtlebeach.com for $2 off per adult. Well, an adult is anyone over 10 so that was all 5 of us. We tried to enter the coupon to book online and it failed so we booked the next day over the phone. We were told that the coupons were no loner honored even though the dates were still valid. The tickets for the cruise I think were $42 each so the total was $210. I thought it was poor customer service to not honor $10 worth of coupons on a $200 bill. We decided to pass on this. Also take note there is no refunds for ANY reason.

Photo of Erica H.

Come expecting your great grandma's food and some "home feel" hospitality. What most people expect for $40 these days is outrageous, and I suspect, the reason for all the bad reviews. I own a boat and know how much it costs to operate including gas and insurance. What they are offering here is really a good deal. My boyfriend and I both loved the pulled pork. The salad had several dressing options. The vanilla pudding was delicious. If you come expecting what you pay for, you will be impressed. If you come expecting a ruth chris steak house and a red carpet....well, you're aboard the wrong boat. A little rednecky but super fun. All you can eat. Cheap bar. I'm in!!

Food was not good. Canned beans- canned vanilla pudding. Need I say more? Cruise was ok. Wish the food was better!

I went on the 2-hour evening dinner cruise with my family. I actually enjoyed it. The captain was talkative and funny. I think it was a bit too pricy for what we were getting. The buffet had salad, muffins, grilled chicken, string beans, and pulled pork. Not much of a buffet and the sights were pretty but it was mostly houses. On the 1st floor the music was too loud and it was hard to hear anything. The dessert was okay. (Pudding) But overall it was a fun ride.

Osprey Photography Boat Tour

Osprey photographers and bird watchers alike, we are going to get you up close and personal for some great pictures/viewing of these family-oriented birds in their natural habitat. The Osprey return here every year in March to mate, rebuild their nests, have and raise their young and migrate South by late August. There are many active Osprey nests along the beautiful and natural region of the untouched Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge. It is a photographer and wildlife lover’s dream, whether you are a bird watcher or a amateur/professional photographer. It is a joy and trial to try to capture the perfect shot of the Osprey catching its prey, feeding their young or carrying materials to build their nests. Of course, other wildlife just might cross our path along the way so have your cameras or binoculars ready!

Space is limited to 15 passengers to allow everyone to move about more freely to take pictures (monopods only please). In addition, the Captain will maneuver the boat for the best shots/views to allow all sides to have great photo/viewing opportunities. Check the schedule for dates and times and book early!

Beach Boys Announce ‘Endless Summer Gold’ 2024 Tour

T he Beach Boys have announced a 2024 tour that will keep them on the road for much of the year. The Endless Summer Gold tour starts on Feb. 21 with dates in Honolulu and wraps up on Sept. 23 in Nashville.

The U.S. tour will include a few stops at summer music festivals, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Stagecoach in Indio, California.

Below is a complete list of the tour dates, including a late-October run on the Malt Shop Memories Cruise.

READ MORE: How the Beach Boys Created a Masterpiece With ‘Pet Sounds’

Former Traffic and Fleetwood Mac member Dave Mason will join the Endless Summer Gold tour for a handful of states starting in late May. Tickets for the first two months of shows are on sale now; other tickets go on sale on Feb. 16. You can find more information on ticket purchases at the band’s website .

Where Are the Beach Boys Touring in 2024?

The Beach Boys’ 2024 tour goes to Florida after its Hawaii debut and then heads throughout the country, with stops in Myrtle Beach, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Denver and dozens more cities.

The band is led these days by co-founder Mike Love and includes longtime member Bruce Johnston. Co-founder Brian Wilson was last on the road in 2022 as a solo act with a touring group that included former Beach Boys Al Jardine and Blondie Chapman.

Wilson’s wife, Melinda, died last week . She helped revive the singer and songwriter’s career after they met in the mid-’80s. Wilson’s well-documented struggles over the years left him performing and recording only sporadically with the Beach Boys since the ’70s. After marrying Melinda in 1995, she became his manager and helped him stage a comeback that included tours and albums as both a solo artist and as a member of the Beach Boys.

A limited edition book, The Beach Boys by the Beach Boys , will be published on April 2. The book will chronicle the group’s career from its launch in 1961 and include remembrances from band members as well as famous fans like Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton .

Dinner both Nights were at Abbey Road. Had grilled flounder both nights as it was superb, reasonably priced and the service was excellent. Of course, the best part of Abbey Road was the atmosphere.

In the morning, we drove the bay tunnel bridge to the scenic overlook and then turned around. The cost was $16.00 one way since we turned around, we did not have to pay a return fee. I remembered the bay tunnel bridge when we did it 30 years ago, so I wanted to drive it again. We then had lunch at the Doumars Cones and Barbecue, home to the world’s first ice cream cone. The food was good and very reasonably priced. The exhibit at the Chrysler Museum was amazing, so glad we went. We both enjoyed it immensely. After the museum, I walked around the pagoda gardens, the Battleship Wisconsin, and the river walk. It was early, so we headed back to VB. I walked on the beach. It was sunset, so it was a beautiful way to end our trip. The next day we headed to North Topsail beach for the rest of our trip.

I’m glad that you enjoyed your visit—sounds like it was great.

What was not great, however, was the money-grabbing resort fee. However, I will acknowledge that the resort fee was prominently displayed on the website prior to booking. If you wish to return to VB, note that there are plenty of nice hotels that do not charge resort fees.
