Inside The Luxury Yacht Paris Hilton & Fiancé Carter Reum Cruised On During Their Romantic Mediterranean Vacation

Aug. 25 2021, Published 3:46 p.m. ET

Paris Hilton is certainly living the sweet life.

The blonde beauty and fiancé Carter Reum have been making the most of their loved-up time together on their luxurious yacht in Sardinia.

Apart from sharing kisses and warm embraces, the good-looking couple was seen surfing and soaking up the sun on their spectacular watercraft. In photos obtained by Page Six , Hilton was seen slaying in a high-waisted red bikini while sporting a blue wrap around her waist and colorful, striped cover-up.

Meanwhile, Reum was spotted enjoying the high seas of Italy while donning a navy swim-shirt and pink swim trunks.

The lovebirds, both 40, got engaged after dating for about a year . The venture capitalist reportedly popped the question while the two celebrated the socialite's 40th birthday on a private island.

The handsome hunk presented his soon-to-be wife with a custom emerald-cut engagement ring , which was visibly present on Hilton's finger when she was photographed on their luxury yacht.

Hilton previously gushed over the "next chapter" of her life with Reum, reportedly telling Vogue she is "excited" to have "such a supportive partner."

The DJ added, “Our relationship is one of equals. We make each other better people. He was absolutely worth the wait!"

It looks like Hilton is wasting no time in trying to have little mini-me's running around , as she revealed in January that she has been undergoing IVF treatments. "He’s just my dream guy. … [Carter is] 100 percent [the one]," Hilton insisted on the "Trend Reporter" podcast at the time. "We talk about [planning a wedding] all the time and planning our baby’s names and all of that."

In the meantime, Hilton and Reum are enjoying some peace and quiet on their jaw-dropping yacht — without any distractions.

The exquisite vessel offers an expansive seating area with an open kitchen surrounded by windows — so Hilton and Reum can enjoy the striking views from indoors if they get tired of the sun.

The yacht has plenty of room for the two to host intimate dinner gatherings with fellow celeb couples who fled the U.S. for a peaceful retreat on the Mediterranean sea.

The contemporary design of the boat is complimented by the vibrant pillows that contrast with the dark-colored carpet and interior details.

The couple has been residing on the 80 Sunreef Power model yacht, which has been described as “taking luxury and seaworthiness to a new dimension.” The yacht boasts stainless steel port lights, teak sole decks, high bulwarks and subtle ambience lighting.

It's hard to complain while waking up to this mesmerizing view.

The inside may be beautiful, but nothing compares to the full-beam bow terrace, wet bar and flybridge featuring a spa pool.

A tour of Paris Hilton’s never-ending honeymoon

By Dora Davies-Evitt

If anyone was to enjoy a seven-week honeymoon travelling to some of the world’s most luxurious resorts – publishing every exquisite detail on Instagram – it would of course be Paris Hilton. As Hilton’s former fiancé, now husband, Carter Reum explained to the socialite atop a balcony at the Zemi Beach House resort in Anguilla, ‘no one knows travel better than you,’ to which she agreed, ‘no-one, literally…’ From Bora Bora to London the pair relaxed in elegant accommodation whilst partaking in lavish post-wedding activities.

Conrad Nui Resort, Bora Bora

The pair began their holiday at the Conrad Nui Resort in Bora Bora – named after the hotel heiress’s great-grandfather – where the couple savoured a sea view from floating rooms. Accompanied by family, including the It girl’s brother Bannon Hilton and his wife, Tessa Gräfin von Walderdorff, the newlyweds partook in pearl diving and swam with manrays. Hilton also enjoyed luxury treatments at the resort’s private spa.

Moskito Island

During the couple’s visit to The British Virgin Islands, where they stayed at the private Moskito Island, the pair settled into married life at a breath taking estate owned by a friend theirs. Keeping us up to date with an array of images on ParisHilton.com, Hilton and Reum kissed one another from a yacht from which they toured the island.

In a similar fashion to the rest of their trip, Paris and husband Conrad chose to frequent one of the bride’s family-owned hotels in Anguilla, Zemi Beach House. Their personalised suite included framed pictures of Hilton’s infamous chihuahuas and recent wedding photos.

The Biltmore, London

As a child Hilton would regularly visit the South of France and Italy with her family, finishing her European travels in London, which she describes as one of her most loved cities. She hopes to one day name her first daughter after the capital. During the Christmas period, the two enjoyed rooms at The Biltmore, Mayfair from where they visited Selfridges and enjoyed afternoon tea. In a trip to Buckingham Palace, Hilton gushed ‘look, two Queens’ to her 17.6 million Instagram followers from the Palace gates.

Waldorf Astoria, Maldives

For the New Year festivities the newlyweds have established themselves in the glamourous Waldorf Astoria in the Maldives, where they will end their extensive post-wedding celebrations.

Why celebrities are buying Bored Ape NFTs

Share All sharing options for: Why celebrities are buying Bored Ape NFTs

Jimmy Fallon has officially bought an NFT, and he showed it off on national television. On Monday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon , the host and guest Paris Hilton shared their new Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs — or rather, the physical, printed-out copies of them. Fallon’s is decked out in nautical gear, with a captain’s hat and striped shirt. Hilton’s has shaggier red fur and a black pair of shades. The segment was deeply awkward, with tepid audience reactions at best. Mostly it felt bizarre compared to Fallon’s typical fare of promoting celebrity shows and movies, or doing silly games like karaoke. Why were these celebrities talking about crypto on late-night TV?

Hilton and Fallon might seem like an odd pair to chat blockchain, but Hilton is actually really into NFTs. She’s the reason Fallon even knows what they are. “You taught me what’s up, and then I bought an ape,” Fallon said, as a kind of brag that read a little more like a mea culpa. And if you’ve taken a peek at Hilton’s social media lately, you’ll notice she’s increasingly styled herself as a crypto influencer-evangelist, as well as an early adopter of the metaverse trend (true Hilton devotees might recall that in 2021, she launched “ Paris World ” in Roblox). The Tonight Show episode capped off with Hilton announcing her own NFT collection, a collage of GIFs largely about her and her husband called “My Forever Fairytale.” Every audience member got one for free, and we can only assume they all thought it was definitely a better live-audience goodie than a flat screen TV or whatever Ellen likes to give out.

The short segment is yet another mainstream recognition of non-fungible tokens by celebrities — and not just those involved heavily in tech. So, what’s going on here?

I loved visiting @JimmyFallon @FallonTonight to talk about NFTs. I think the #NFT community is innovating the art movement as a whole and pioneering a new creative economy for digital creators and collectors. The possibilities are endless. https://t.co/ZVFzr8Pz4o — ParisHilton.eth (@ParisHilton) January 25, 2022

What is an NFT?

An NFT, or non-fungible token, is just a token (sorry, that’s already in the name) that says you own a digital item. The key distinction is that it’s unique. This is what fungible means — though you’d be forgiven for thinking these NFTs are for non-mushrooms only. (Please laugh.) Ownership is tracked through the blockchain ; each NFT is a unique token on the blockchain. Think of it like a Pokémon trading card. There will be a number of copies of the same kind of card, right? But each card is technically different. These cards also have different values, depending on their rarity and popularity. (You can read more about NFTs here , as well as their impact on climate change .)

Hilton isn’t the only celebrity who’s making NFTs. Far from it. There’s Lindsay Lohan’s fursona — disliked by furries, apparently — and the perhaps less surprising “War Nymph” series from Grimes , in which winged babies wave swords. Though these examples are clearly priceless art, NFTs don’t all skyrocket in price or desirability. That said, a few specific communities have sprung up in the NFT trading world, with certain creators making a series of designs that stick with a certain theme and then command special attention, sort of like a series of popular collectibles. (Or Funko Pop.)

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) is one such collection. (Here, you may note that whether or not the digital art is good appears to have nothing to do with whether the NFT becomes popular or valuable.) The BAYC collection consists of 10,000 unique, avatar-like digital illustrations of apes, depicted from the shoulders up — each with a different expression and wearing different clothes and accessories.

These apes are everywhere, lately. People seem to be going … [long-suffering pause] apeshit for them. The brand recognition is so powerful it has landed BAYC a few significant collaborations, like a recent one with Adidas . You might have also spotted BAYC images on Twitter, as buyers have often made these digital images into their avatars. Or maybe you’ve noticed buyers getting roasted by people who joke that “stealing” one of these pieces is as easy as hitting right click/save as.

So, you’re saying I can steal Jimmy Fallon’s Bored Ape by downloading the JPEG?

Technically speaking, actually owning the NFT means just owning “a token” that corresponds to it (hmm), rather than just the JPEG, which … can be downloaded by anyone, any number of times? We’ll let you puzzle that out.

I have stolen your precious nft pic.twitter.com/FHpGDndSKr — Alexander (@elljawa) November 12, 2021

Why are celebrities buying these NFTs?

Short answer: Because they can afford them. Scarcity, speculation, and hype tend to attract a certain kind of buyer. The profile of that buyer (or the artist) can be a kind of feedback loop that makes the NFT more desirable. The resulting rises in price can be steep . Rinse, repeat.

Longer answer: Much like any hyped commodity, NFTs that are perceived as being valuable have become a kind of status symbol . A Beeple NFT sold for $69 million at Christie’s, which the auction house said puts Beeple “among the top three most valuable living artists,” according to The Verge . Beeple, whose real name is Mike Winkelmann, has some reasons to be popular. He’s got roughly 2.5 million followers across social platforms, and is famous for creating and posting new art each day — the NFT is a compilation of 5,000 days of it. And what did that lucky NFT winner get? A digital file, and also, as The Verge put it, “some vague rights to present the image.” The buyer also won the ability to tell people they have a Beeple NFT. Whoever spent that much on it is probably excited to own something made by this cool guy. Fun!

Some NFT collectors also think that these items will increase in value — a lot like priceless physical works of art. For a number of NFTs, they’ve been right, so far. Here’s an animated cube that originally listed for $500 but was last sold for $17,000 .

And here’s where things get even hairier. How do you predict which NFTs will become wildly profitable to resell? I don’t think any of us would have anticipated the popularity of Bored Ape NFTs — much less the current version of reality where a growing group of celebrities changed their social media images to ugly illustrations of primates. Deciding which to buy becomes a gamble, wherein making money requires finding someone else to sell that NFT to. It’s a “bigger fool scam,” as Dan Olson puts it, in an episode of Folding Ideas . To actually make money, you always need someone to be the “bigger fool” in the chain of buyers, Olson explains, someone willing to pay increasingly large sums. (Some have made compelling arguments that NFTs are just a tech elite’s pyramid scheme .) If you’re buying as a “collector,” it’s that price tag that plays into the item’s value as a status symbol or a “flex.”

New York City Entertainment Industry Slows During Coronavirus Surge

Add in the fact that celebrities hold enough influence over popular culture to effectively impart value to NFTs — which don’t necessarily have intrinsic value — and it just feels skeezier and skeezier. With each additional Bored Ape purchase (or whichever NFT of the moment), celebrities further legitimize the brand, the idea that it’s appealing, and the notion that we should want to spend money on it. In sharing the Bored Ape, a number of celebrities are even endorsing other cryptocurrency brands , creating this shared halo of legitimacy through the purchases of wealthy, powerful people. Think about it that way, and Fallon and Hilton’s move to “share” their NFTs looks more like a naked promotion to inflate their value.

At the end of the day, this is a game for the rich; for celebrities who can part with that chunk of change as easily as I might buy a bag of chips. Though the metaphor doesn’t quite work, because the chips are real and I can actually eat them. It’s depressing to consider how easy it would be to lose a huge sum over an NFT purchase that never becomes popular enough for the money to be recouped.

So … why the apes?

Owning a Bored Ape is “cool” now. Mostly, it’s expensive! There are a total of 10,000 Bored Ape NFTs, all of which sold out in 12 hours for roughly $190 each. 10,000 different versions might sound like a lot, but it’s a small enough number to still be considered limited-edition. By the time Fallon bought his BAYC NFT, it was roughly $216,000, the LA Times reported , in a piece that also notes the value might be even greater on resale given his “hyping it up on the show.” (Though, depending on your Fallon feelings, you could also argue his interest in BAYC will eventually decrease its value.) And he’s not the only one buying. Logan Paul bought one (which tracks), as has Eminem , Steve Aoki, Steph Curry, The Chainsmokers, Shaquille O’Neal, Gwyneth Paltrow , and of course Paris Hilton, among others.

BAYC does some other stuff to keep things interesting for their lucky 10,000. They released a free-to-Bored-Ape-owners digital “serum” that turns their Bored Ape NFTs into “Mutant Ape” NFTs — essentially just modifying the art to make the primates look like ape-zombies — along with a “ Kennel Club ” line of dogs with traits based off of the original apes. Predictably, buying either of these NFT series has become bananas expensive.

BAYC also likes to refer to themselves as a kind of “social club.” They’ve hosted meetups in California and New York — apparently 5,000 members literally ate bananas together in Manhattan . There’s also a private Discord, where the NFT owners can ostensibly gather and chat, giving it a different kind of exclusivity. This isn’t unique to BAYC — a number of these high profile NFT communities have them, including one called Pudgy Penguin . We don’t know if celebrities are participating, but I personally like to think about Shaq, Eminem, Paris Hilton, and now Jimmy Fallon, all sharing primate pics in there. It’s much nicer to imagine a world where these celebs are legitimately excited about their personal apes, as opposed to just pumping them for a future possible resale on a television show with a massive audience.

Correction: A previous version of this story indicated that owning the NFT meant owning the “commercial rights” to it. This is incorrect, as owning the NFT means owning a token. We’ve edited the article to reflect this.

Go Inside Paris Hilton and Husband Carter Reum's "Dream" Honeymoon

Paris Hilton  and Carter Reum are taking their love around the world!

Following their extravagant three-day wedding celebration, the couple embarked on what Paris called a "honeymoon world tour" as their first vacation as husband and wife.

On Sunday, Nov. 21, the Cooking With Paris  star gave fans a glimpse of how she and her new husband kicked off their jet-setting adventure by writing on her Instagram , "First stop on our Honeymoon world tour… Bora Bora."

It appeared that hitting the open waters was at the top of their itinerary, as Paris shared several photos of herself canoodling with Carter during a boating excursion. She wrote in the caption, "Swimming in the South Pacific oceans [waves emoji] with my love."

The DJ and entrepreneur capped off her post with "#ParisAroundTheWorld" and #MyDreamHoneymoon," as well as a hashtag of the name of her new Peacock docu-series, Paris In Love , which details her journey down the aisle.

Paris wed Carter on Nov. 11 in a lavish ceremony held at her late grandfather's former estate in Bel Air, Calif. A day later, the newlyweds celebrated their marriage with neon carnival-themed party  at the Santa Monica Pier. They ended the wedding festivities by hosting a third bash at the place where they had exchanged vows.

"The three-day event kept their schedules jampacked with little room for rest or sleep, but you couldn't tell by looking at them," a source recently told E! News of the happy couple. "Paris felt great about how everything turned out in the end."

As for their honeymoon, it seems like the Hilton-Reums have made it into a family affair. Paris re-shared an Instagram Story post from sister-in-law Courtney Reum about their "family honeymoon," which teased that the group will travel to Tahiti next. Paris was also seen dancing on a boat in an Instagram Story video shared by her brother, Barron Hilton , on Monday, Nov. 22.

Paris Hilton and Jimmy Fallon Go Ape for Printouts of NFTs

Portrait of Rebecca Alter

It was all going so well. Paris Hilton joined The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon to talk about her wedding. She says she had seven outfit changes. Kim Petras sang “Stars Are Blind” as she walked down the aisle. Her mom, Kathy, had a good time. All fun late-night chitchat. And then the crypto-Herbalife pitch began. “You taught me what’s up, and then I bought an ape,” Fallon tells Hilton. This would rule if this was mid-century Hollywood and Hilton had convinced him to buy an actual chimp. It would be ethically wrong, but still it would be lavish and exciting. But we know what millionaires mean when they refer to “apes” in 2022. Fallon meant a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT, an avatar with all the aesthetic complexity of a pissing Calvin bumper sticker .

“I bought one, too,” Hilton says, “because I saw you on the show with Beeple.” (An ugly sentence if ever we heard one.) Fallon pulls out a physical printout of a jpeg that Hilton owns (a link to), and there is an actual applause break for this image that is inexplicably worth more than a starter home in many American cities and produces far more carbon emissions than one. Then he pulls out his own BAYC (a printout of a jpeg to which he owns a link) and says it reminds him of himself. Sad! Hilton then debuts her new NFT collection, a GIF of “a collage of all of my memories with Carter” — her husband — “called ‘My Forever Fairy Tale’,” and gives one to everyone in the audience like some sort of metaverse Oprah. They go wild even though the vast majority of NFTs are about as valuable as a QR code on a Coke bottle cap that sends you to a dead link to an mp3 download. This whole thing is Ethereum LuLaRoe . We just wish celebs were getting involved with less tacky, more glamorous means of frittering away their wealth. At least the Beanie Babies bubble was cute.

Who Is Paris Hilton, Really?

The heiress and proto-influencer says that she spent nearly two decades playing a character. Now she’s ready to be herself.

“I built this kind of shield around me and kind of this persona, almost to hide behind,” Paris Hilton said. Credit... Daniel Jack Lyons for The New York Times

  • Published Sept. 12, 2020 Updated Aug. 4, 2021

Lounging cross-legged on her bed at home in Beverly Hills and wearing a turquoise hoodie, Paris Hilton appeared at ease. There were none of the affectations that have defined her public image for two decades: the flat baby voice, the tiny, shimmering outfits, the faux ditziness, the stance that everything cool was “hot.”

“I built this kind of shield around me and kind of this persona, almost to hide behind, because I’ve been through so much where I just didn’t even want to think about it anymore,” Ms. Hilton, 39, said over Zoom. Behind her stood a towering mirror illuminated by a sea of LED lights that refracted off her platinum hair like diamonds.

Before there were influencers, there was Paris Hilton: a beautiful blank slate of a person onto whom all kinds of ideas and brand sponsorships could be projected. She was the celebrity burnished, if not created, by a sex tape. She was the face of the Sidekick (and the victim of a Sidekick hack that brought more of her personal life into the public eye). She was a reality star, trying her hand at manual labor as a rich person. She recorded music, modeled, appeared at parties, made TV cameos, wrote an advice book . And she was mercilessly criticized, written off as “famous for being famous.”

Regardless of whether that characterization was fair at the time, it seems pretty hard to defend these days. Ms. Hilton spends more than 250 days of the year traveling the world as a D.J., raking in a reported $1 million per gig . She oversees more than 19 product lines, including fragrances, clothing (for humans and pets) and accessories. And so many people are now famous for being famous, she might now seem more venerable pioneer than contemptible fly-by-night.

paris hilton on yacht

Now, moreover, she’s ready to talk about the past. On Sept. 14, the documentary “This Is Paris” will be released on YouTube. It aims to crack the facade she created in the aughts, focusing instead on the decade that preceded her fame.

Ms. Hilton said that she gave the director, Alexandra Dean, full creative control over the project. “It was really difficult for me because I’m so used to having so much control and ‘The Simple Life,’ just having everything perfect and edited,” she said. “And with this, I had just to let go of all that control and let them use everything.”

There are moments of opulence in the film — jet-setting around the world, endless racks of gowns and stilettos and closets stacked with jewelry she’s never worn — and she’s quick to remind that she’s “never been photographed in the same thing twice.”

But at the heart of the documentary is trauma, stemming from Ms. Hilton’s years spent in boarding schools for troubled teens. The last one she attended was Provo Canyon School, a psychiatric residential treatment center in Utah, where she would spend 11 months.

“They just assumed it was like a normal boarding school because that’s the way that they portray it to parents and people who are putting their children in these places,” Ms. Hilton said of her parents, Kathy and Rick Hilton (her mother appears in the documentary). Before the making of the film, Ms. Hilton had never told her family about what happened to her.

The night she arrived at Provo, Ms. Hilton recalls in the documentary, she was taken from her bed as if she was being kidnapped. She said she and her peers were routinely given mystery pills, and when Ms. Hilton refused to take them, she would be sent to solitary confinement for sometimes 20 hours at a time without clothing. She also claims emotional, verbal and physical abuse from teachers and administrators. “It was just like living in hell,” Ms. Hilton said.

The school has noted on its website that it changed ownership in 2000, after Ms. Hilton was a student. A representative from Provo said the school does “not condone or promote any form of abuse.” They added that “any and all alleged/suspected abuse is reported to our state regulatory authorities, law enforcement and Child Protective Services immediately as required.”

In the years since, Ms. Hilton has grappled with nightmares and avoided therapy, which played a big part in her residential treatment programs. “From being at Provo and those types of schools, just the therapists in there I felt were just not good people,” she said. “I just have never, ever trusted them.”

The experience broke other forms of trust, too, Ms. Hilton said. In the documentary, she can be seen installing spyware in her house before her boyfriend stays there while she’s out of town.

“That definitely affected me in my relationships because I just didn’t know what real love was, and from being abused, you just get kind of used to it almost where you think it’s normal,” Ms. Hilton said.

Later events reinforced that belief. When a sex tape of her and her ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon was leaked online without her consent in 2003, the footage received widespread attention, and subjected Ms. Hilton to ridicule.

“To have that come out, such a private moment, and for the whole world to be watching it and laughing like it’s some sort of entertainment, was just traumatizing,” Ms. Hilton said. Still, in some ways, the exposure turbocharged her career as something other than an heiress, leading to reality show gigs and other deals; her friend and former assistant, Kim Kardashian, followed the same path to worldwide fame a few years later.

“Kim and I have been friends since we were little girls and have traveled the world together,” Ms. Hilton said. “I could not be more proud of everything she has accomplished.”

Publicly, Ms. Hilton has not always voiced support for women who have come forward with stories of abuse. But since she told the reporter Irin Carmon, in 2017, that the women who accused President Donald Trump — a family friend — of sexual misconduct were looking for “fame” and “attention,” her perspective has changed.

“I’m happy that there’s been the #MeToo movement where people have completely changed their views on that,” Ms. Hilton said. “But at the start, it was just really unfair for a woman to be treated that way because somebody exposed them.”

She learned to mask her emotions. “In every relationship I’ve always been like, ‘Oh, this is amazing. I’ve never been so happy,’” she said. “It was just something I would just say to the world, even when the worst things in the world were happening to me in my relationships. I didn’t want anyone to know because I didn’t want my brand to be affected.”

Originally scheduled to premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in April, “This Is Paris” is one of a handful of celebrity documentaries and docu-series to be released by streaming giants in recent years. Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber and the Jonas Brothers have all joined Ms. Hilton in giving an “inside look” at their lives.

Of course, depending how involved celebrities are with their documentaries, a compelling narrative can be a way to build up or defend their public image.

Susanne Daniels, YouTube’s global head of original content, said she doesn’t see these documentaries as a “defense.” “They know that their image is complex, and at some point, they’re ready to share all the complexities of why they’ve made the choices they have,” she said, of the celebrities. “I think to a certain extent it can be considered brave.”

For Ms. Daniels, every documentary YouTube takes on is “a leap of faith” that there’s going to be a “surprise or twist.” “I thought to myself, ‘OK, either this is a really good hook that these producers created because they’re really good producers, in which case maybe they could make it work, or just for real, it’s going to be incredibly compelling,” Ms. Daniels said. She was won over. “I hope the audience is, too, because I think Paris is deserving of that revelation,” she said.

Now, Ms. Hilton hopes to use her brand for good. She wants to expose institutions that administer cruel psychiatric treatment to minors, working with former students who said they had similar experiences to do so. “I’m really going to dedicate a lot of my life to helping make this happen and shutting these places down,” she said.

She’s no longer interested in playing a character, she said. “I’m happy for people to know that I am not a dumb blonde,” she said. “I’m just very good at pretending to be one.”

‘My jaw dropped!’: How it feels seeing Paris Hilton flaunt your old ape on TV

Celebs are getting into Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs bigtime. But not everyone’s psyched about the trend.

paris hilton on yacht

Jawwn, a U.S.-based NFT collector who declines to share his real name for privacy reasons, was relaxing at home a week ago when his phone began buzzing and pinging.

Within seconds, Jawwn’s wife walked into the room and told him to turn on the TV and tune into The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon . When he did, his “jaw dropped”: There was socialite Paris Hilton showing off a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT he used to own.

“I was like, ‘No way! No way!’” Jawwn says. “I don't know of any other space that this kind of interaction could have happened. It’s pretty insane.”

The made-for-TV moment is one that has become more common as celebrities start to enter the NFT space and talk publicly about their acquisitions. Days after Hilton and fellow ape owner Fallon exchanged awkward pleasantries about their NFTs on The Tonight Show , Gwyneth Paltrow announced she too had acquired a Bored Ape.

Then, over the weekend, it was reported that Justin Bieber had bought an ape for more than $1.3 million. (However, there are questions as to whether Bieber’s purchase occurred using his own money.) Hilton, Paltrow, and Bieber join a club that already included boldface names like Steph Curry, Kevin Hart, Post Malone, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Logan Paul.

The sudden, spectacular arrival of NFTs into the mainstream has echoes of the time Jawwn first dove into the world of non-fungible tokens in August 2021. “That was during a huge bull run,” he explains. “It was really, really exciting. Everybody was hyped up about it. [Marketplace] OpenSea was selling like crazy. I guess I just got redpilled. I dove right in.”

From the get-go, Jawwn coveted the Bored Apes, now the hottest NFT project around . There was one problem: the cost. Jawwn considered buying one, but they ran 20 or 30 ETH at a time when 1 ETH was between $2,000 and $3,000.

Initially, he didn’t get what separated them from any other NFT collection. But it kept niggling at him. “The more I interacted with people in the space, the more I changed my mind,” he says. Jawwn saved up money by minting, then selling other NFTs for profit until November 16 rolled around.

It was close to his birthday, and he decided he wanted to buy an early gift for himself. “I feel like this is going to be the blue chip of all blue chips,” Jawwn says. “It’s a solid investment — I mean, it’s hard to say anything’s a solid investment in the NFT space, but comparatively speaking, right?”

After much “scrambling to get enough money together,” he spent 50 ETH (about $211,000) to purchase ape #1294 . “I love the glasses. I love the red fur. I was like, ‘This speaks to me,’” he says.

Paris Hilton's Bored Ape NFT

“I was happy to have it,” he recalls. “And then, I was like, ‘You know, that being said… if there’s an opportunity for me to get another one, I’m going to try to take it.’” So he listed his ape on January 17 on OpenSea. At the time, the floor for Bored Apes was around 60 to 65 ETH. He listed it at double that. The reasoning was simple: If it sold for 120 ETH, he’d take that and buy two.

On January 22, he received a notification through OpenSea: His ape had sold for 119 ETH ($287,000), to an account belonging to MoonPay, a U.S.-based fintech company that has been buying up high-profile NFTs then passing them on to celebrities.

“Celebrities’ presence will help raise awareness for the brand overall, but them joining BAYC definitely changes the community .”

Cathal Berragan, an NFT industry watcher and collector, figures MoonPay’s motive boils down to one word: marketing. “The cost of an ape is roughly the same as what they’d have to pay for a branded post from the celebrity,” Berragan says. “They cover the cost of an ape and get a great piece of content that organically mentions their service. The content also receives way more reach than a regular piece of branded content ever would because the Bored Ape community get behind it and promote it. It’s super-smart.”

If celebrities are indeed not paying for these NFTs, Berragan adds, “this is massively disingenuous and against the spirit of Web3. They’ve missed the point entirely and run the risk of taking the brand off in a commercial direction — something the community will have no say in.” Reps for Fallon and Hilton did not respond to requests for comment.

(MoonPay, which did not initially respond to Input’ s questions about its arrangements with celebs, countered Berragan’s theory the day after this story was published. “We created MoonPay Concierge as a way to help these artists and creatives reach an even wider audience and enable celebrities to purchase NFTs without any friction,” a spokesperson tells Input . “MoonPay Concierge customers are charged for services rendered.”)

And how do non-famous ape owners feel about all this? “Public figures, just like everyone, are welcome in BAYC,” says Josh Ong, a prominent figure in the Bored Ape world. “Their presence will help raise awareness for the brand overall, but celebrities joining BAYC definitely changes the community.

“We knew in the early days that the magic of the tight-knit community wouldn’t stay forever,” he continues, “but many of us are still working to keep the club values, like supporting each other and staying creative, that made it special.”

Mixed blessings

Seeing the NFT he once owned appear on TV, brandished by a major celebrity, was an unusual experience for Jawwn. And there was at least one other person who could relate. Alongside the picture of Hilton’s NFT that Fallon placed on his desk, he displayed a picture of his own Bored Ape. That ape was once owned by Jerry, a 31-year-old Chinese citizen.

Jerry — who did not provide his surname, again for privacy reasons — used to be a construction engineer but quit his job in July 2021 when he realized he could make money from the crypto markets. In September 2021, he bought his third Bored Ape — #599, decked out in a striped shirt, boat captain’s hat, and sunglasses — for 33.5 ETH, then worth $115,000.

Jerry listed ape #599 on OpenSea, and sold it to the same user as Jawwn had — moonpay.eth — on November 8 for 46.6 ETH ($225,000). “At that time, of course, I was happy,” Jerry says. “I’d made money.” But when he saw Fallon reveal his Bored Ape on Twitter on November 17, he was shocked. “It’s crazy, right? In real life, that’s never happened to me, to do something with Jimmy Fallon,” he says. “But in the crypto world, it’s an interdimensional story.”

EroDegen, an office worker who got into crypto in early 2018 and minted some of his own NFTs, had a similar experience. He bought Bored Ape #590 in May 2021 for 0.2 ETH, or just short of $590. “When I first bought the ape, I was like, ‘This guy represents everything I love and want to be,’” he explains. It was the “embodiment of myself and my dreams.”

EroDegen thought it would be his “forever ape,” but he never imagined prices would rise. In the end, he sold it to the rapper Timbaland on September 30 for 74.69 ETH — at $224,000, a nearly 379,000 percent markup. (This transfer, as far as public records on OpenSea indicate, didn’t involve MoonPay.) “The sale decision was bittersweet,” he admits. “But it allowed me a greater amount of freedom in my life.”

EroDegen had no idea who he was selling it to until Timbaland revealed his ownership of the ape to the world. “Seeing it end up with Timba was like a silver lining to the sale,” says Erodegen, who had grown up with the rapper’s music and loved his work.

As to whether it’s a good thing for celebrities to own NFTs — and promote their ownership on nationally broadcast TV shows — Jerry is less certain. “It’s a difficult question,” he says. “If ordinary people don’t know this market well, most of them will lose money.”

Jawwn is more sanguine. “The thing is, with this space, there’s going to be a lot more of these stories where people buy something then resell it to a celebrity,” he says. “At some point, I’m sure even the president will be buying a Bored Ape just to flex.”

“It trivializes the technology as a toy for rich people who have run out of things to buy .”

That would be a concern for Berragan. “It’s worrying that this is how millions will discover the NFT space,” he says. “It trivializes the technology as a toy for rich people who have run out of things to buy.”

On the other hand, Evan Branigan, an attorney and NFT collector in Colorado, is bullish on celebs owning Bored Apes. “I think it’s important that celebrities take seriously the responsibility to make sure that people understand how speculative and risky these PFP [profile picture] NFT projects are,” he says. “But I don’t understand hating on celebrities who want to try out these NFT projects and give exposure to NFTs to a broad audience.”

Now that Jawwn has had the time to digest the events of last week, he has a better perspective on things. “There’s this thing about it where you’re happy to sell something but also sad at the same time — it’s a rollercoaster of emotion,” he says. “I’m going to miss [the ape]. And it’s clearly going to be worth more now because a celebrity bought it.”

Jawwn has yet to use the proceeds from his sale to obtain another ape, as he’d planned. The floor is at around 95 ETH ($225,000) and rising. “The time for me to get another one is closing,” he says with a laugh. “But I’ve been shopping. And I’m definitely going to get another ape. I’m just waiting for the right one.”

Paris Hilton commemorated her 43rd birthday with a spectacular celebration that perfectly captured her essence and style.

Just a few days after celebrating her mother Kathy's 65th birthday, Paris was truly "Sliving" – a term she coined that blends 'living' and 'slaying' together – during the belated birthday bash.

The festivities unfolded in a Barbie pink lounge, meticulously designed to reflect Paris's vibrant personality and love for all things pink.

On February 17, Paris offered her fans a glimpse into the exclusive party through her Instagram Stories, revealing a dazzling setup adorned with silver sofas, a white carpet, and bright pink lights that bathed the room in a warm, inviting glow.

In true Paris Hilton fashion, the party featured pink Jell-O shots, aligning with the night's theme and adding a playful touch to the evening. Expressing her gratitude, Paris tagged @wifeoftheparty in her Instagram Story, lauding the impeccable party planning with a heartfelt message, "You killed it! Love you."

The guest list was nothing short of stellar, with celebrities like Demi Lovato and her fiancé, Jordan Lutes, aka Jutes, and socialite Michael Braun making appearances.

Demi Lovato, the acclaimed "Heart Attack" singer, took to Instagram to share her excitement, posting, "Currently #sliving @parishilton this was amazing, happy late bday sis!!" The night even included a moment of fun in a large ball pit, captured in a video shared by the MTV Video Music Award winner.

Among the guests was a very special attendee – Paris's one-year-old son, Phoenix. Dressed adorably in brown, black, and white Burberry plaid pants with suspenders over a white T-shirt, Phoenix was the picture of cuteness.

He was seen grooving to the music, under the watchful eye of his DJ mother, who affectionately dubbed him "My Mini Sliver" in a story shared on her Instagram.

A TikTok clip revealed the birthday girl herself dazzling in a shimmering silver dress adorned with sequins, her blonde hair styled in a high ponytail with a curled tendril framing one side of her face.

Diamond star-shaped earrings added a touch of elegance to her look. The video humorously noted, "Clubitis is hereditary," as Phoenix danced to "Caribbean Queen" by Billy Ocean, highlighting the joyous atmosphere that even the youngest could enjoy.

Paris mused, "Sliving with #BabyP is more fun than going out in the early 2000s," showcasing the unforgettable and heartwarming moments of the celebration.

Notably absent from the festivities was Phoenix's little sister, London, aged four, though the night remained a memorable celebration of Paris Hilton's life and her journey as a mother, influencer, and entrepreneur.

That’s what people were debating in Paris Hilton’s comments section over the weekend, after the 43-year-old reality star took to Instagram to weigh in on a controversial denim trend .

“Hot Take 🔥” Hilton captioned a series of photos that showcased a few of her outfits from the early 2000s. “Low rise jeans should make a comeback 💁🏼‍♀️✨”

While the mom of two no doubt nailed the look decades ago, rocking hip-hugging styles on the red carpet and at various events, many disagreed with the statement, pleading for Hilton to leave the past in the past.

“You were the only human who pulled this off,” wrote actress Alyssa Milano, while Nikki Glaser shared similar thoughts. “Yes but only for you!” the comedian said.

Fans were a bit less subtle with their opinions, reminding Hilton that they look little different now than they did during the Y2K era.

“paris, we all have mom bods now, we can’t bring back the low rise jeans 🫣,” one person joked.

Another added that they’ll continue rocking a more covered-up alternative. “Nah we have fupas and love handles now..I’ll stick to my high waist.”

A few people took the opportunity to get serious about the effect low-rise jeans had on their mental health.

“This is exactly why I had an eating disorder in high school,” someone commented. “The standards were ridiculous.”

Still, not everyone was against the return of throwback design. Designer Ronny Kobo revealed that, at least with her brand, a comeback was already underway.

“Call me!! We are bringing them back 😍❤🔥 inspired by you!!!” she told Hilton.

Paris Hilton black dress

The “Paris: The Memoir” author has admittedly been in a nostalgic mood as of late. Just a day after weighing on jeans, she posted even more old photos, this time going with a music theme.

“I’ve been feeling like a #Y2K Pop-Punk Princess Paris lately 👸🏼🎸,” the captioned the post. “What’s your favorite 2000’s girl rock anthem? #ThatsHot #Sliving #Throwback 🎧⚡️”

Last year, Hilton decided to bring back another old school style from the star of the millennium: a silver, sparkling dress , similar to the one she wore on her 21st birthday. And she kept the trend going over the weekend, celebrating her birthday in a long-sleeved version of the iconic look.

The outfit is one that people continue to channel decades later, and in 2019, Hilton told Page Six that she didn’t mine. “Imitation is the highest form of flattery.”

“As soon I put that dress on, I knew it was iconic,” Hilton said at the time. “I’d never seen anything like it before, and it was so me. So to see so many people using it as inspiration is just the best.”

Paris Hilton is celebrating her big day with her baby boy.

On Tuesday, the multi-hyphenate, 43, shared a carousel of photos to her Instagram from her birthday party over the weekend. In a few of the snaps, Hilton posed with her son Phoenix, 14 months, smiling together as the proud mother took a selfie on her phone.

In other photos, Hilton sat on a sparkly bench with Phoenix in her lap, lovingly looking down at him. Phoenix appeared happy as the mom of two lifted his arms, showing off his adorable Burberry matching set and little Fendi shoes.

Hilton also shared a few videos of her son dancing, yelling, "Yes! Mini sliver! Go Phoenix!"

"There’s nothing better than celebrating with the ones you love 💖✨ #Sliving ," she wrote in her caption.

Earlier this month, Hilton shared with her fans on TikTok that her son recently started crawling around her home. In the video, Phoenix was crawling all around the corridors of his home, smiling and giggling as he went.

“Baby P is on the move,” the proud mother’s caption read. “His little laugh and smile melt my heart.”

“Where are you going?” Hilton asked her son. “Teenie weenie Phoenie. Teenie weenie Phoenie. What are you laughing about?”

Hilton shares her son Phoenix and daughter London, 4 months, with husband Carter Reum.

Phoenix is already an avid dancer, with his proud mom showing off his dance moves whenever she gets a chance. In January, Hilton shared an edited version of an earlier TikTok , where Phoenix danced to WHAM's "Last Christmas." This time, it was edited so Phoenix appeared to be dancing to his mom's single with Steve Aoki, "Lighter," as the background color flashed and changed.

" #Sliving  runs in the family🥳  #MiniSliver  👶🏼," she captioned the video, also joking, "When you realize that clubitis is hereditary and your mom is Paris Hilton."

That same day, the DJ mom shared another video which showed Phoenix dancing on Reum's lap during a plane ride.

As she cooed, "Dancing!" Phoenix began to wiggle, smiling wide. "Go Phoenix!" she cheered as he laughed and continued to move.

"Baby P Sliving on the plane✨👶🏼✈️✨," she captioned the video.
