An Invitation To The Ball: The Best Exclusive Members’ Clubs In Monaco

Step into a life of lavishness.

by Molly Wolfe Published on March 4, 2024

At Luxe Digital, we independently research, review, and recommend products we love and that we think you will love, too. Learn more about how we curate the best products for you .

Tucked in Europe’s South on the glorious French Riviera lies Monaco, the unrivaled epicenter of luxury. It’s home to the Monte Carlo Rally, the Monaco Grand Prix—and a generous smattering of millionaires—over 30% of the population, in fact. The pocket-sized city-state may be small in size, but its personality (and influence) are gargantuan.

Glitz and glamor reign supreme here, exemplified by the Belle Époque architecture and well-heeled residents—including the likes of Novak Djokovic, Lewis Hamilton, and Bono. Of course, Grace Kelly’s legacy still reverberates through the streets—indeed, Princess Grace Avenue is in one of the world’s most exclusive postcodes.

So, it’ll come as no surprise that, between the Aston Martin ’d driveways and the superyacht -laden harbors, you’ll find some of the most exclusive social clubs in the world. We’ve handpicked the top private members clubs in Monaco where you too can get a glimpse of the high life— if you’re lucky enough to get a green light.

Why you can trust Luxe Digital? At Luxe Digital, we take pride in handing out only the most bulletproof advice—if we wouldn’t go ourselves, we’d never recommend it to you. And, when it comes to your free time, we believe time = money, so you should spend it well. That’s why we’ve chosen only the select few finest private members’ clubs in Monaco worthy of our attention—and yours.

The Monaco Yacht Club

best private members clubs monaco the monaco yacht club - Luxe Digital

A mecca for international royals since its foundation, Monaco Yacht Club is synonymous with wealth—enter a world where “superyacht” is an everyday term, and most members come with a title or two (at the very least). If you secure a membership, your calendar will be treated to a Regatta or two—and your address book can expect a generous peppering of princes and dukes within its pages. Unsurprisingly, memberships aren’t easy to come by—but if you’re fortunate enough to be accepted, you’ll enjoy a cocktail soirée in your honor.

Best for: The sanctuary for sea-faring sybarites.

Monaco Ambassadors Club (MAC)

best private members clubs monaco monaco ambassadors club - Luxe Digital

The best way to infiltrate Monaco’s privileged society? A membership to the Monaco Ambassadors Club. Founded by HSH Prince Albert II to promote all things Monaco (read: all things luxe), this club inaugurates members into a sphere of influence that extends far beyond the enclave’s Mediterranean seaboard.

Enjoy RSVPs to the philanthropic Goodwill Gala, clink flutes at the Summer Party, and spend the rest of your year wining, dining, and social butterflying within the club’s prestigious walls.

Best for: A-listers and altruism, on tap.

Club 39 Monte Carlo

best private members clubs monaco club 39 monte carlo - Luxe Digital

Consider Club 39 Monte Carlo as an upgrade from your lazy layabout ex to a go-getter partner. And believe us, this new flame is a keeper—she/he’s going to help you morph into a better, fitter, and happier you.

More superhuman lab than traditional gym, Club 39 provides everything to transform you into your superior self. Bedecked in state-of-the-art equipment, the space offers dedicated areas for all fitness levels and styles—from pilates to cycling to aerial yoga, you’ll find your clan in no time. Naturally, rest is emphasized, too: head to the lounge post-workout for a plate of nourishing banana pancakes and a solid debrief with friends.

Best for: Levelling up your fitness—and your social life.

Frequently asked questions about social clubs in Monaco

The Monaco Yacht Club takes the award for the most exclusive club in Monaco. Not least because of its commitment to providing the utmost privacy for its patrons—A-listers and royalty won’t get papped (secretly or otherwise) here.

100%, yes. Joining a private members’ club offers a way into exclusive social circles, enviable networking opportunities, and world-class experiences ranging from fine dining to sporting activities.

A membership at Ross Beattie’s famed 39 Monte Carlo social club will cost you upwards of $5284 per year. Prices vary depending on whether you’d like an individual, couples, social, or personal training membership type.

The best bars in Monaco: where to drink during the Grand Prix weekend

As a beacon of prestige and glamour, Monaco unsurprisingly boasts an impressive bar scene to satisfy its rich, famous and beautiful visitors.

From upscale cocktail lounges to chic waterside hangouts, discover where the best places are in the principality to enjoy a drink during the Monaco Grand Prix . Whether you’re looking to get into the party spirit or would prefer a more chilled out spot, there's guaranteed to be something to suit your mood.

Fusing high-end Asian gastronomy with a lavish bar and club concept, the Buddha Bar’s Monte Carlo outpost has been a mecca for the well-heeled since its arrival onto the Riviera in 2010.

The principality’s old concert hall forms the perfect setting for this opulently decked-out venue. Richly ornate ceilings, amber lighting and red and gold furnishings create an exotic yet extravagant Asian-inspired environment benevolently looked over by a three-meter tall Buddha statue.

Legendary DJ Papa spins live tracks in a booth overlooking a bar where electric daiquiri and royal Jasmin cocktails are served. An extensive sushi menu ensures nobody goes hungry while a sprawling terrace is where revelers go to smoke hookahs in the warm Mediterranean air.

Sass Café may not look like much from the outside, but its romantic, dimly lit red and gold interior has proved to be popular among some of Hollywood’s greatest. Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Will Smith, Beyoncé and Bono are just some of the big names seen here over the years.

monaco yacht club sports bar

As one of the few-family-owned bars and restaurants in Monaco, its long-time owners are also regularly seen working the tables. Having recieved a makeover in 2019 by designers Green & Mingarelli Design, Sass Cafe is now adorned by opulent velvet, with leather, gold and burgundy touches befitting this prestigious private club. This alongside the leather club chairs and tufted booths reserved for bottle service create an intimate ambiance, while a back-lit DJ podium pays tribute to the 1960s Pop Art scene.

Dine on world-class cuisine accompanied by a soundtrack of live piano music before the champagne is passed around and the festivities rev up for the night. Patrons should dress to impress.

Crystal Bar & Terrace

Elegant and exclusive; no less could be expected from the bar that crowns the swanky Hotel Hermitage. Step inside and be wowed by the neo-classical styling, glittering chandeliers and gleaming mirrored bar before falling in love with the breath-taking sea views from the heated terrace.

Accompanying the plush surrounds is a high-class menu of champagne, caviar and oysters while the big wigs in town come here to sample the fancy cigar selection.

Offering a charming and laidback setting, the Crystal Bar exudes an air of grace that is hard to come by in other establishments in the area. Come here to enjoy good company within tranquil surroundings.

Le Bar Américain

With burnished leather armchairs, soft, stylish lighting and handsome polished wood, Le Bar Américain evokes a 1920s-style aura of old-school glamour. Although tucked away in the five-star Hotel de Paris, this venue looks as if it’s sprung from the pages of a F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.

monaco yacht club sports bar

Live music performances every night offers up a variety of jazz, swing, blues and soul for guests to enjoy while sitting comfortably at one of the tables propped up against the counter.

There is also an extensive cocktail list, which rotates with the seasons. Favorites include the Pulcinella with its fresh mandarin orange, a surprising pear and cardamom combo called Pira Villosum and the Nutcracker with Grey Goose vodka by Alain Ducasse and hazelnut syrup.

Hôtel Metropole Bar

Occupying a privileged position on the ground floor of upscale Hotel Metropole, the Bar & Lobby seduces with its sensuous yet subdued atmosphere created by celebrated designer Jacques Garcia.

Velvet chairs, marble statues and subtle lighting embody the Belle Époque aesthetic present throughout the entire hotel and create a chic yet timeless retreat open at any time of the day. Indeed, this is the perfect enclave for those looking to escape the frenetic energy of the Grand Prix.

Come in the morning for some time out over a coffee and pastry or stop by in the evening to sample the posh cocktails. Culinary delights from the hotel’s kitchen, which also serves the two Michelin star Joël Robuchon restaurant can also be enjoyed here for a more laidback dining experience.

No other bar screams Monaco as loudly as Blue Gin. Spread across a beachside space dubbed as the ‘waterfront’, this lounge bar offers the whole package: dreamy views of yachts cruising on the Med, inventive drinks, a Michelin-starred chef and a glam crowd who know how to party.

monaco yacht club sports bar

Situated within the high-class Monte Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort, Blue Gin welcomes guests to lounge on the sea-themed terrace during the day. But when the sun goes down, late-night revelers come out to sip cocktails, dance to beats spun by DJ Nicolas Saad and play billiards in the games room.

For a refreshing mix of cranberry, raspberry, lime and vanilla flavors try out the Purple cocktail.

Brasserie de Monaco

Packing in the punters with its organic lagers and ales is Monaco’s only brewery, Brasserie de Monaco. Originally founded in 1905, the bar closed for a 30-year hiatus before reopening its doors in 2009.

monaco yacht club sports bar

Large wooden tables and lashings of steel offer a contemporary setting as big-screen TVs broadcast live sports and DJs entertain the evening bar-goers. Saturday is always the busiest night of the week when revellers groove on the packed dance floor until the early hours of the morning.

There is also a big beer garden and a menu of classic pub dishes. Don’t leave without sampling one of the innovative home-brewed beers, such as the Pils de Monaco – a light beer with a slightly spicy taste.

Stars ‘N’ Bars

Located in a prime position in Port Hercules, Stars ‘N’ Bars is a unique combination of American restaurant-cum-sports bar on the first two floors and a chic Riviera nightclub on the top level.

interiors of stars n bars in monaco

The venue’s popularity cannot be underestimated. Crowds flock here during the summer months and it is one of the busiest places in the principality during the Monaco Grand Prix. And despite launching over 30 years ago, its appeal shows no signs of fading, even among the famous faces in town.

Food-wise, expect a refined take on American classics while sport is televised across the venue. Drinks are best enjoyed in the open-air lounge bar against an ocean backdrop and, as night falls, cocktails, champagne and dancing become the main focus in the top-level club.

Inauguration of the new YCM building

At 43°44’15’’ N and 7°25’40’’ E, this hi-tech building which looks like a liner docked on Quai Louis II is home to two of the Principality’s historic clubs: the Société Nautique (rowing club) and the Yacht Club, a meeting point for owners and focus of international yachting activities. Alongside Lord Foster and Monegasque architect Alexandre Giraldi, Jacques Grange and Nelson Wilmotte have put their talents to the service of the new building’s interior and exterior layout and design.

“ Allow me to express a very sincere wish that the Yacht Club de Monaco fulfil its mission as a link between people who love the sea, that it serves the interests ”

— Prince Rainier III

To be a member of the Yacht Club de Monaco is above all a commitment. It is a desire to preserve a certain ethic, both on land and on the water, and to foster a respect for naval etiquette and preservation of the environment. The Yacht Club de Monaco’s philosophy is based on the need to perpetuate but also to pass on a heritage, inherited from our ancestors, to ensure that the Yacht Club remains a lively and progressive place.

Yacht Club members offer exceptional adventure to recovering youngsters

Monaco Yacht Club reports that several of its members have joined forces to offer a unique adventure at sea for children in remission from cancer.

François Miribel from Yacht Club de Monaco unveiled “the fabulous initiative entitled À Chacun Son Cap (“each to their own”) cruise on Monday, March 4.

In the words of the Monaco Yacht Club: “This ambitious project aims to give children aged 10 to 17 from IHOPe in Lyon, who are in remission from cancer, a truly memorable experience. Thanks to the generosity of YCM members, from April 21-27 these young people will have the opportunity to sail along the coast between Hyères and Monaco on boats made available for the trip at no charge.”

The club’s website continues: “Among key players in this adventure, a big thank you to YCM members Neil Cheston, Andréa Statari, Christian Choquenet, Loïc Pompée, Paul Basson and of course François Miribel for putting forward their boats in an act that embodies the value of solidarity so indispensable to all seafarers. More than just a trip out to sea, for these youngsters in remission it’s a chance to experience life in the heart of the Mediterranean on an adventure that will end on April 26 at the Yacht Club de Monaco.

“It is not the first time that François Miribel has had contact with this institution. A year ago, with his crew from the Sir Ernst, François visited children and adolescents in the Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Institute (IHOPe) in Lyon to talk about their experiences from their expedition to the Patagonia channels. Indeed, the children had been following the adventures of the Boréal 47 and her crew who included two penguin mascots called Palmito and Patagonia, the boat’s owner François Miribel, Fabrice Papazian and Thierry Leret from Yacht Club de Monaco.”

Monaco Yacht Club Celebrates its 70th Anniversary with a Summer Cocktail

Yacht Club

Particularly special this year… the summer cocktail, much anticipated, dovetailed with the 70th anniversary celebrations of the Yacht Club , whose birth year is 1953 .

Every occasion at the Yacht Club in 2023 is naturally turning into a double celebration often made extra special by the presence of the Sovereign , who on this occasion was surrounded by about 1500 members .

A perfect time to remember Prince Albert’s father, Rainier III , who was energized to bring together all those who love the sea in a unique Club within the Principality. Prince Albert speaks proudly of his father’s vision to make the YCM an exclusive place where yachting is lived, enjoyed and celebrated, thus contributing to the promotion of Monaco as a global destination . And the tribute to Prince Rainier continues with praise for his acumen in creating the Yacht Club to preserve and pass on maritime traditions, while promoting innovation and the development of yachting.

And, as if standing on Prince Rainier’s shoulders, Prince Albert has placed priority on protecting the oceans first and foremost bringing environmental issues to the fore as a priority. In effect the Principality is a beacon for the nautical industry, acting as a catalyst in environmental transition.

More and more the Monaco Yacht Club members have become demonstrators of new eco-responsible solutions played out through the theme “Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting”.

High profile also and a regular reminder of the impetus towards green innovation is the 10th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, from July 3rd to 8th.

Hundreds of young engineers representing 25 nations and 25 universities are gathering to meet industry professionals. Such key players as Oceanco, Ferretti, Sanlorenzo, Lürssen, Monaco Marine and Palumbo SY Refit take part.

Hardly a quarter goes by when The Yacht Club de Monaco is not able to find an opportunity to continue radiating the message to protect the environment. On September 24th and 25th, YCM is hosting the 3rd Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous . The specific aim of the event is to present innovative solutions for the development of virtuous marinas.

The YCM plays a powerful role as an ambassador carrying its values high through its high profile record-breaking international exploits of icons such as Malizia-Seaexplorer of Team Malizia , founded by Pierre Casiraghi, vice-president of the Yacht Club of Monaco. Having just finished The Ocean Race, the IMOCA will stop in Monaco on July 5th.

Tuiga , the flagship of the YCM, another ambassador is fresh from a campaign and will play its role in the next Monaco Classic Week-La Belle Classe , from September 13th to 16th.

Thirty new members were able to enjoy this summer members’ cocktail. They can now join in and encourage distinguished athletes like Alexander Ehlen, seeking to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Sovereign took the opportunity to congratulate Peter Harburg, recent winner of the 70th Rolex Giraglia . The two gold medals obtained at the Games of the Small States by the laserist Noah Garcia and by Boris Jeremenko, head valet of the YCM also received praise.

Luxury Waterfront Amenities

On the waterfront— miami’s most leisurely nautical pursuits at your door.

Rossinavi’s no limits brand sells first yacht two weeks after announcement.

Rendering of the No Limits NL45, the first of the fleet sold just two weeks after Rossinavi COO ... [+] Federico Rossi presented the new brand to the world. The yacht sold to an American buyer.

Rossinavi COO, Federico Rossi, held a global online presentation on Feb. 19 announcing the launch of a new brand of yachts in the Rossinavi lineup. No Limits was introduced to the world, delivered in a no-nonsense, minimalistic format perfectly suited to this crossover yacht brand synchronizing tech and function. Rossi emphasized that the philosophy of the No Limits brand would match the character of an explorer yacht with the style and charm of a superyacht.

Just two weeks after the No Limits brand launch, an American buyer stepped up and bought the first of the fleet, an NL 45 that is expected to launch at the end of 2025. The yacht will sport a 9.1-meter molded beam with an indoor gym connected to the outdoor beach club, four lower deck guest cabins, formal salon and dining space, full beam main deck owner's suite with a private office and dual baths, alfresco dining area and intimate sky lounge, outdoor foredeck lounge and pool area, and expansive 110 square meter sun deck.

The aluminum hull and superstructure of the NL45 has a GT just under 500, is solid, light, and 100 percent recyclable. The NL45 can accommodate 10 guests served by 5 crew. The 4,000 nautical mile range at 10 knots can rev up to a 15-knot top speed, with propulsion by two Cat 32 engines developing 1,193 bkW each.

No Limits offers five vessels from 30 meter, 37 meter, 37+ meter, 45 meter, and 45+ meter layouts. All models, Rossi noted in his launch presentation, would have a similar family feel, technical features, distribution of space, guest and crew areas, stability, comfort, and safety as protagonists of the No Limits fleet.

Large panoramic windows to allow natural light and great connections to the outdoors complement the multi-level cockpit and beach club. The 110 square meter sundeck on the 45 model is designed to accommodate a variety of uses, day or night. Pools, American bars, BBQ areas, sunbeds, and easy to raise windbreaks keep the space active and usable.

The Philosophy

Rossi explained that the main aspect of the No Limits brand philosophy is PRO. He stated, in addition to representing the professional approach of the brand backed by 40 years of Rossinavi experience, that PRO represents Performance, Reliability, and Optimization.

The Mechanicals

Heavy duty engines and generators paired with two independent rudders for redundancy and maneuverability make the NL45 easy to manage. The double stabilization system with four fins is designed to improve comfort both at anchor and underway.

The Zero Noise system connecting shaft lines to thrust bearings rather than the gear box has mechanical advantages but also minimizes noise and vibration. Guests will appreciate the quiet comfort of the effective Zero Noise Rossinavi technology.

The tropicalization of the AC system has redundancy built into the machinery with chillers designed to operate at 150 percent capacity. Water management, dry and cold storage, and fuel capacity are all designed for spending extended time at sea. Unrestricted navigation for transatlantic crossings combined with Panama and Suez certification make No Limits yachts charter-ready global vessels prepared for adventure.

New look, new brand, new logo, in a clean, simple marque that matches the brand philosophy reflects ... [+] the mindset of the changing yacht client.

The New Look

In a simple logo that suggests the exterior bow design of the No Limits line, Rossinavi is taking a minimalistic, simple, forward-looking approach. The group encourages potential buyers to think in terms of endless routes in a dynamic and stylish yacht.

Exterior design by Fulvio de Simoni Studio in La Spezia, Italy and interiors by The Touch Studio of Amsterdam elevate the No Limits line in blending technology, comfort, and luxury into this high marine attitude yacht. That's a concept which should prove attractive to changing buyer profiles in the yachting industry.

About Bars & Nightlife in Monaco

Monaco nightlife: exclusive and sometimes elusive- you need the local knowledge to make the most of this glittering principality. While the opulent villas, cliff-top castle and giant superyachts set a tone of ultimate luxury, it is possible to spend a night out in Monaco that suits a wide range of budgets and tastes, from the ultra-refined to the relaxed Irish pub.

If you have money to burn, there are plenty of glamorous options for a night out in Monte Carlo. The Sea Lounge , with its white couches looking out over the Mediterranean, is the perfect place to start the evening under the stars while drinking champagne and listening to the chilled beats of the resident DJ. Or perhaps enjoy a shisha and a premium gin cocktail on the terrace at the ice-cool Blue Gin , or head inside for billiards and to listen to the DJ in this very chic venue.

Meanwhile, you cannot pass up the opportunity to dress up and visit the Monte Carlo Casino . Have a flutter on the blackjack tables in this staggeringly beautiful casino that is a movie star in its own right and draws the jetset from all over the world. Drink a cocktail in the infamous Café de Paris and watch the procession of Lamborghinis and Ferraris pull up and disgorge the glitterati. For something less exclusive but also extraordinary, visit the Buddha Bar and marvel at the incredible oriental décor and giant Buddhas in this lavishly converted old theatre.
