1996 Hunter 19 1996 Hunter 19, 1996 Hunter 19' sailboat with a 2 year-old CDI flexible furler and a Nissan 4 stroke engine. Swing centerboard. Water ballast system. New bottom paint. Price includes a like new trailer (only a few years old), brand new anchor and brand new winch handle. Pictures show some brown accumulation on the hull that has been cleaned off. Not pictured in the interior cabin picture are the cushions which are in amazing, like-new condition. (I keep them in the garage.) The boat draws about a foot of water with the centerboard up. Despite the spacious interior (which can sleep 4) it is nimble and very easy to handle for a 19 footer. I am a novice sailor and have no trouble sailing the boat on my own. The mast can be raised by one person and has a mast raising system. The water ballast keeps the boat incredibly stable, but it will still heel enough to be fun. When drained the boat is extremely light, making it easy to tow behind any vehicle. Other features: Bimini top (a rare find on a hunter and is key during the summer), stove and toilet (never used!), molded non-skid deck, 2 cockpit lockers, stainless swim ladder, forward opening hatch, open transom design with huge cockpit. 1993 Hunter Passage 42 - PROTEUS Set up for serious off-shore passage making and fully self-sufficient off-the-grid cruising. Has recently (beginning 2014) sailed in England, the coast of Europe and the western Med (2015) and crossed the Atlantic to the Caribbean (Nov 2015). Came up through the Caribbean (spring 2016). This yacht was never chartered, always privately owned, and meticulously cared for. All servicing and installations were done to a high standard. All safety equipment is up-to-date. The yacht participated in the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) which requires a high standard of safety equipment, training, and inspections. The yacht has been certified as a Class-A offshore sailing yacht. All documentation is available and will be conveyed to future owner. The previous owners lived aboard, loved every minute of it, but are now moving back on land for a few years and do not want the boat to sit and atrophy. She needs to go to a good home and to someone who will continue the journey! She has taken care of her owners for years and will continue to do so for many years to come. S/V PROTEUS is "overbuilt" and designed for extended offshore passage-making and off-the-grid cruising. Just want to jump all the way down to the USVI instead of going the super-slow way all the way through the Bahamas? Okay. The previous owners just made a passage from the Dominican Republic straight to Ft.Lauderdale (March 2016). Seven days offshore? No problem. PROTEUS has a thicker hull, reinforced rigging, extra backstay (B&R rigs normally don't have them). Massive solar panels, watermaker, genset, wind generator – all these advanced features make for a yacht that can go anywhere, do anything, and actually be comfortable while doing it. The solar panels were upgraded in 2015, and the owners report that they lived entirely off the solar panels and almost never used the generator while underway. Occasionally, you'll hear people scoff at production yachts for being only for "coastal" cruising. "Oh, I'd never cross an ocean in that!" Not the Passage 42! Did I mention she's cruised in the North Sea and English Channel recently? 1993 19-2 questions

Hi everyone, I've sailed a Catalina 22 for a number of years and have decided to migrate to a Hunter 19-2. We mainly sail on an inland lake with the occasional trip to Oriental, NC or possibly some of the waterways along the coast. The 19-2 seems like a much easier boat to rig, launch and sail in comparison to our Catalina 22 (which, due to some health related neglect on my part) has become a project boat. At this point in my life I would rather spend my time sailing as opposed to fixing, "one more thing," before I can take the boat out. We keep the boat on a trailer at a marina, rigged up and ready to launch. Our typical day is spent sailing around, anchoring for lunch, swim, etc... We would now like to add our grandchildren into the fun (the other grandparents are mainly power boaters). So - questions: - I will need to trailer the boat home, around 150 miles. Do people trailer that boat with the motor (6HP Yamaha in this case) mounted or pull it off? The motor mount or transom is not original and seems fairly substantial, however, I always pulled the motor from the Catalina 22. - does the cabin top have the structural integrity to stand on? (I'm 6'2" and weigh around 205). - the boat doesn't have a furling jib, is there a brand specific fuller for this boat? My other boat didn't have one either, so, I'm used to hanging the sail on and changing the headsail on the water. However, as I'm trying to make things more simple, a furler would help - the boat has been fairly well maintained and in overall good shape. Are there any particular things to look out for? Should I remove and check the stay attachments to look for corrosion, as an example? (Older Catalina 22s, like mine, are notorious for failure due to corrosion where it can't be seen). - has anyone made or purchased a table for below or in the cockpit? - is it difficult to replace the forward hatch window? It doesn't leak, but it looks as though there are stress (spider web cracks) on the interior. - does anyone add an anchor roller forward of the anchor locker? Further, how do most store the anchor when you're sailing, does anyone use an anchor hanger mounted on the bow rails? - finally, is the boat, "comfortable" to sail with two - four adults (or combination of adults and children). From looking it over and measuring, I don't seem to be giving up a tremendous amount of cockpit space in comparison to the 22. The mainsheet attaching in the center at the companion way is different for me, does that, "get in the way?" Thank you in advance! Mark

I take my outboard off when trailering my 19-2. I can stand on the cabin top, but not that sliding top. I have only sailed with one other person, but I think there is room for four. If you find out about the fuller, let me know. I don't have one either.  

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure anyone has a, "fuller," which is the autocorrected form of, "furler," and was in my original post. Sorry about the confusion!

MOSCOW, November 19. A drone flying to Moscow has been downed by air defense systems in Elektrostal in the Moscow Region, no one was hurt, Moscow’s Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Sunday.

"In the Elektrostal municipal district, air defense forces repelled an attack by a drone, which was flying toward Moscow. According to preliminary data, its fragments fell down incurring no damage. No one was hurt," he wrote on his Telegram channel .

According to the Moscow mayor, emergencies services are working on the site.

The boat also has an open transom cockpit with ladder, so it’s very easy to board from the water, which is great for diving! Very easy to tow, rig, launch and sail. It is very light to tow (under 2,000 lbs dry, including trailer). It also has a swing keel, so it can be beached in shallow water (14” draft, no dinghy needed)!

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. • LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.
