Ghost Recon: Future Soldier class guide
It's time to become a future soldier, today
Welcome to the future, soldier. You’ll find out that your run and gun tactics won’t work in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier . Surviving in this world will only be accomplished through careful planning and team work. Completing objectives as a team will earn you bigger rewards and further your career as a soldier. Below, you will find some starting points and tips for you to begin that career. Class descriptions, weapon ideas and equipment tips will all be listed for you to look over. Prepare soldier, you're about to go to war!
Engineer Scout Rifleman
Taking objectives is the key to winning the match. Running around killing other players will only gain you a single point. Winning objectives will get you 100. Working as a team, capturing points, and stealing them away from your enemies will earn you more experience than simply running around gunning people down.
Compliment your team by playing different classes. It pays to have a Scout in the back sniping while an Engineer rushes the objective with Rifleman support. A team made up solely of one class is going to have weaknesses that can be exploited. Diversity is the key to success.
Map knowledge is important. Take the time to learn the maps. Sight lines, pathways and good cover are all important. Knowing where the enemy can come from and what they can hide behind will help you greatly throughout the battles.
Move carefully across the maps. Simply running around in the open is a good way to get some extra head ventilation. Pay attention to enemy movement and what equipment they have placed. If you see the words “detected” on your screen then it is safe to assume you will soon be the target of some unfriendly bullets.
Leveling up happens at a good pace so make sure to spend your points. Guns can handle completely differently after getting some modifications. Classes can also change over time based on what you unlock. Make sure to take the time to look through your options and pick what will suit you best, and don’t be afraid to explore.

Crafting The Perfect Weapon in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Game Rant goes hands-on with Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's Gunsmith system, where players can toy with over 20 million weapon builds for unprecedented and unrestricted weapon customization.
A gunsmith is a person with the skills to design, construct, repair and augment a firearm. In Ghost Recon: Future Soldier , that person is you.
While the news that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier would support Kinect was spoiled early last year, it wasn't until Ubisoft's E3 2011 presentation where we learned how it would be implemented. Kinect functionality is utilized in a brand new feature for the Ghost Recon franchise: the Gunsmith mode. It is here where players can use gestures and voice commands to assemble, customize and test out their weapons of choice.
Gunsmith is the key new feature of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier , bringing an unprecedented amount of weapon customization to the series through a sleek new interface. While Kinect is not necessary to make use of the system, being able to ask - by speaking - for a preset build of a weapon is very handy and moving your hands to slide through weapon components and break apart the weapon is a gratifying experience.
Future Soldier ships with 52 weapons with each having up to 10 parts of the gun that can be customized. All weapons are divided into U.S. and Russian sets and are based on real world guns, with the few weapons not used in service coming from real-life prototype designs. Ubisoft has a deal with Remington for example, so there’s a prototype weapon in there from them.
During the campaign, players have the opportunity to setup their loadout after each mission's briefing, selecting and customizing weapons accordingly for their needs and preferences. Players unlock parts as they play, U.S. pieces by playing through the campaign, Russian pieces by unlocking through challenges and achievements.
In multiplayer, players build their own character however they see fit before jumping into matches. The weapons, weapon slots, and components are purchased through progression trees not unlike other shooters - As players progress in multiplayer, each new level grants the player one unlock credit to spend with certain unlocks (or choices of unlocks) that are available at pre-defined levels.
Choosing a soldier class has been streamlined into three groups for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and each specializes in two weapon groups and hence, each classes has its own progression tree for unlocks.
- Rifleman (Assault rifles and Light Machine Guns (LMGs))
- Scout (Sniper Rifles and close-range SMGs)
- Engineer (Shotguns, SMGs)
Once the class is selected, it's time to play with weapon loadouts and here's where the fun begins. Choose a weapon group, select a firearm of choice, and pick components to make it do what you want it to. Looking for close-range combat but need to shoot through obstacles? Done. Need long range with bullets that can lock-on for easy headshots? Done.
With the Gunsmith system, players can switch out components for trigger groups (Match trigger — makes trigger more sensitive vs. standard semi-auto trigger), stocks, barrels, magazine (some powered ammo types only work in the campaign like Dragon’s Breath), gas systems which let players tweak firing rate vs. recoil, etc. etc.
Deciding between which components players want on their weapon of choice is made easy through four stat bars that appear on screen, indicating how each piece improves certain aspects of the gun, while other aspects may feel the burden. It’s all up to the player to decide what they want (close/long range, silent, fast-firing vs. precision shooting).
- Power: Damage dealt by the weapon.
- Range: Distance for effective shots.
- Control: How much dispersion and kick you have on the weapon.
- Maneuverability: How much your motions impact dispersion.
Attachments not only play with these stats, but many of them give the player a new ability. Some of the ones we saw in action are the bipod which can be deployed on cover (especially useful with LMGs) to stabilize gunfire, attachable shotguns and grenade launchers, along with a large variety of scopes.
A notable difference from the previous games in the series is that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier lets player carry two primary weapons, so no longer are the Ghosts restricted to holding a slow-to-equip, useless sidearm. Like the Advanced Warfighter games however, there are no anti-vehicle rocket launchers in the game. For multiplayer reasons (i.e. avoiding the “noob tube” effect), the dev team decided to leave it out but opted to not include it in the campaign either, making encounters with vehicles problematic without the help of mounted turrets in the level and some crafty usage of explosives.
At any moment in Gunsmith, the player can press 'Start' to be instantly taken into the gun range which has close, medium and long range targets scattered in the surrounding area, allowing players to instantly see how their customized weapon feels and shoots. Check it out in action:
In addition to firearms, there are five different pieces of equipment — they show up and can be viewed in Gunsmith but aren't customizable. These include explosives, grenades (flashbangs, frag, sensor), the drone, etc.
The kind of customization available in Future Soldier should raise the bar from what players expect of the industry's most popular shooters. Where Call of Duty restricts the amount of attachments, and Battlefield 3 forces players to pick between unrelated parts (e.g. bipods and straight pull bolts), Ghost Recon now lets players fully customize every part of the gun, without such restrictions.
For more information on the game, read our Ghost Recon: Future Soldier hands-on preview .
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier releases May 22, 2012 in North America, and May 24, 2012 in Europe, for the PS3 and Xbox 360. A PC version will follow at a later date.

History [ ]
Missions to russia [ ].
30K was part of Operation "Take Down Overlord" . He dropped a grenade into a command center, destroying it, and then met up at the rally point.
30K took part in a mission to Russia to disable six nuclear weapons on Sokolov 's base. During the mission, he was chased by a drone but was saved by Ghost Lead who crashed it to the water when driving a BMP-1 . A helicopter took the missiles away before they were finished.
Raven's Rock coup [ ]
30K's Ghost team (call-sign: Hunter ) undertook missions to Bolivia, Zambia, Georgia, and Russia during the Raven's Rock coup.
For their mission to Bolivia, 30K and his squad were tasked with finding and extracting a mid-level gun-runner named Gabriel Paez . The Ghosts believed that Paez had information that could help them discover who was behind the nuclear bomb that decimated Joe Ramirez and his Predator Team . During the mission, Paez panicked after the Ghosts came under an ambush at the LZ and tried fleeing the area. Paez was intercepted and captured by the hostiles, but was rescued and escorted by the Ghost team.
After completing their mission in Bolivia, Hunter was sent to Zambia to locate a weapon shipment that was sent to a local warlord, Dede Macaba . The team put their optical camouflage technology in use for the first time in this mission, and used it extensively when following Macaba and quickly navigating through the refugee camp. The team dispatched Macaba after learning the location of the shipment and moved to the site in hopes of boarding the plane it was on. However, Hunter was too late in getting to the shipment, and the plane carrying the shipment attempted to take off and Hunter responded by destroying the right side engine via small arms fire. They succeeded, and the plane crashed about two kilometers away, where Hunter tracked down the black box and evacuated after an intense firefight.
The team then rescued an agent of Central Intelligence Agency , Officer Daniel Sykes . Following up on Sykes' intelligence, the team captured a Russian weapons dealer hiding in Peshawar, Pakistan.
He, along with other members of Hunter Team, assisted the Russian President in retaking his country after the Raven's Rock coup, striking at an Arctic weapons base and at an airport. They also assisted Russian loyalists. His team then escorted President Volodin into Moscow.
They then hunted down the coup leaders, although orders came down from on high "not to touch" " Ace ". The team then left Ace on the train tracks, where he lay wounded.
Nicaragua [ ]
30K may have also assisted in the rebellion against President Raphael Rivera .
Columbia and Libya [ ]
30K was part of a Ghost team led by Andrew Ross which had an operation in Columbia to rescue Delgado . At one point, he fired early. He and Ross mounted up to breach a door in Colombia, but 30K stopped him before he could launch a flash-bang grenade into a room full of gasoline canisters. Later, 30K assisted Kozak in retrieving the drone. The branch broke, and Kozak maneuvered the spare drone to catch him.
In Libya, 30K was assigned to charge unto Tamer's boat, and saw the death of his informant. 30K cornered the agent on the bridge, but he shot himself.
Later, 30K and the rest of his Ghost team were caught in a civil war, but they managed to escape. He and Kozak barely survived a booby-trapped warehouse.
Soon after, they boarded the LCS-2, U.S.S. Independence . They and the ship's Marine contingent landed on the island hideout of the Bedayat jadeda. 30K climbed one of the buildings to provide cover with his machine gun, but was seriously injured. Several of the Marines charged the insurgents to provide cover for when Ross recovered him, and was left in the care of a Navy corpsman.
Eight weeks later, he still walked with an aluminum cane, but reunited with Ross and the other Ghosts at the Liberator bar, where they were met by Scott Mitchell . The team affirmed their readiness to return to duty.
Equipment [ ]
During the Chelyabinsk province mission, he carried an MR-B assault rifle and a PX4 pistol.
In Future Soldier , he is typically armed with a 150-round capacity Stoner 96 that has a red dot sight, extended stock & a bipod, a 30 round loaded suppressed Goblin with a 4x Tac Scope & a fixed M16 stock during recon, and a cloaking device . In the mission Tiger Dust , he is armed with an M110 .
Personality [ ]
He teases his "little brother" Kozak about being in his "mother country." Even though, Kozak is half Russian and was born in Brooklyn. 30K, ironically, appears to be a technophobe because of his dislike for the Warhound and saying that he doesn't trust anything with batteries. Due to a sarcastic remark, the Warhound identifies him as the "Queen of England". 30k appears to dislike Sailors and Marines. He appears to be a claustrophobic, as he dislikes being in the corridors of the Russian ship. 30K and Pepper seem to be good friends, as they almost always joke with each other. He was born in 1996.
He complained that Kozak had "jinxed" them once during the Yemen operation. He also likes to tell different stories about how he got the nickname, including stealing #30,000 from a warlord in Afghanistan who received it from the CIA to be an informant, in which he claims he "Spent 1000 on booze and the rest to charity".
He believed that they had a right to know if their CO was right in the head. He spoke to Kozak about Ross, who told him to let it go. Eventually, Ross told him the truth about his son.
He drives a red Mustang Cobra.
30K is somewhat a comic relief to the Ghosts.

- Master Sniper Using a sniper rifle, kill 15 consecutive enemies without any misses.
Master Sniper Bug:
- Many people have had an issue with this challenge where the counter resets when the game is installed to the Hard Drive. To fix this, delete the game from the Hard Drive, along with the cache for the game updates, then perform the challenge offline. As of present there is no other fix that's been mentioned!
- The issue is caused by the latest title updates/patches of Ghost Recon Future Soldier. For all platforms, the solution is to uninstall the game's patches and play the mission without the patches. Once you have completed the challenge, you may reinstall the patch and the VSS should remain unlocked.
- Dodge the Dot : Avoid being taken out by a sniper during the mission.
- Clean Sweep : Clear General Bukharov's room in under 20 seconds.
- Disruptor : Kill at least 10 Bodark while they are still under the effects of an EMP.
Two out of the three under barrel grenade launchers are now unlock. The game recommends using an Assault Rifle for the primary weapon. However, if you want to complete the weapon challenge , use a Sniper Rifle. The M110 with Tac Scope, Suppressor, and Angled Foregrip will do just fine. For the secondary, choose a PDR or SMG with suppressor. Sensor and EMP Grenade should be the equipment. Use the EMP grenade to disrupt enemy equipment. Kill 10 soldiers who are EMP'd for a Tactical Challenge .
The first part of this mission requires stealth. If you alert the Russians, you will fail the mission. Follow the Ghost Team to the infiltration point until you see a Tank. Do not engage the tank! Head up the stairs to the right and mark the four soldiers on the high ground. Take them all out with one sync shot. After those four, take out the remaining two on ground level. Kill them and quickly duck under cover so the tank doesn't see you. Head to the infiltration point for a short cut scene. Climb up all the stairs for another checkpoint.
At the top of the stairs are two soldiers looking out at the area. Sync shot the two and take their positions. You can pick up their sniper rifle too, if you like. A weapons box with the same rifle can be found in the back, along with an ammo box.
The objective here is to clear out the rooftop across the way. The UAV can't see the entire rooftop. Kill one of the soldiers to alert the rest of the team. Try not to miss with the sniper rifle for the Weapon Challenge .
When the rooftop is cleared, focus your fire on the next marked building. Look for muzzle flashes or scope gleams to find the snipers. Switch back and forth between the two until the area is cleared. You will only have a few minutes to accomplish this, so don't stay behind cover! If you need help, mark the hostiles for your team.
Soon after clearing both area, a helicopter will come in and shoot at the team, causing the building to fall apart and obstruct your view. Continue clearing out the two marked buildings before the time runs out. When the area is cleared, head to the regroup point to start a short cut scene.
Reach Bukharov's HQ
After the cut scene, your team will breech a door and head into a rooftop. Do not rush out or you will get annihilated. Tons of Spec Ops soldiers will be positioned around this area. Use the EMP to take out their optic camouflage, or use sensors to highlight them.
Keep moving across the rooftop taking all spec ops soldiers out. Use sensors and EMPs until you reach the end. There will be a few ammo boxes along the way and plenty of places for cover. Reach the end and regroup with the team.
After the cut scene, the group will be back on the ground. A ton of soldiers are positioned just to the left of the team. There's no way around it. Go loud and kill them all. Try to stay behind cover as much as possible and mark enemies for your team. The light machine gun soldiers should be priority. Use the UAV Drone to figure out which soldiers have LMGs, then mark them for a Sync Shot before engaging the entire group.
Slowly move forward when the road is cleared. Soldiers will try to ambush the team from the left, right, and front. This will happen multiple times as the team makes their way down the road. Snipers can also be found on a few rooftops or windows further down.
When the area is cleared, regroup with the team at the marker. You may want to refill your ammo at an ammo cache before doing that. Move on to the markers ahead. A weapon crate can be found near a truck. Trade one of your weapons for the AK-47 with Grenade Launcher inside. Use the GL to destroy the BTR that will rush out.
Grab more ammo from the ammo cache once the BTR is destroyed. Regroup at the burger joint and prepare for more soldiers in transport and light armored trucks. Take them out quickly with the grenade launcher. Hold the area as waves of soldiers, trucks, and a BTR comes by. An ammo and weapons cache can be found in the back of the store. Before leaving, take the LSAT with the backscatter optic, it'll come in handy.
After the fight, regroup with the team to start another cut scene.
This next part takes place in small offices. If you got the LSAT from the burger joint, it'll come in handy here. Use the bipod and backscatter optic to use. If you didn't grab the weapon, use sensors and caution as you go through the cubicles. Soldiers will be hiding behind many walls, and two machine gun emplacements will be at the back.
Clear out the room and regroup with the team at the elevators. After a short scene, you'll be at the office of Bukharov. Clear out that room in 20 seconds to complete another tactical challenge . The Backscatter optic will be very useful here. Clearing out the room will complete the mission.
