After a truly nail-biting finish, Ganesha has emerged as the victor of the Superyacht Cup Palma .
Europe’s longest-running regatta wrapped up Saturday, July 2, with results that could not possibly have been closer, according to event organizers. At the end of the third and final race, two Vitters yachts finished level on points with identical score lines. The jury was then forced to look back over the previous races to crown a champion.

The elegant 150-foot sailing yacht Ganesha , which is named after the Hindu deity, was eventually named the overall winner on account of her earlier performances. The sleek, all-aluminum sloop is powered by a Caterpillar engine and can reach more than 14 knots at full tilt.

“It was a bit of a surprise win and we certainly weren’t expecting it, either the class or the overall,” Ganesha ‘s skipper Alex Pamment said in a statement . “It was very, very close.”
In both the Pantaenius and the New Zealand race, Ganesha came second in her class. In the St. Regis race, though, she finished nearly an hour ahead of her fellow Class B competitors. Pamment credits the weather and the skilled tacticians for her success.
The Dutch shipyard’s 143-footer Svea was awarded second overall and was also named winner of a hard-fought J Class contest. A testament to the very tight racing at the regatta, the Class A contest was also decided on countback. The 108-footer Pattoo , another Vitters build, took home first place thanks to her narrow victory in the St. Regis race.

“Superyacht Cup Palma has always offered friendly but competitive racing, and this year has delivered that in spades,” SYC event director Kate Branagh said at the prize-giving ceremony. “Having the overall winner in doubt until the last moment makes for incredibly exciting racing, and we hope that all the owners, captains and crews have had a great time whatever their finishing position.”
SYC organizers have already announced that next year’s event will be held from June 21 to 24. It’s going to be difficult to top this finish, though.

Sagitta (ex Ganesha)
Exceptional design and performance
Sagitta is a sloop rigged 46m performance cruiser designed by Dubois Naval Architects and interior architect Newcruise.
A specific technical feature is the cockpit with a fixed carbon bimini.
The vertically sliding curved glass windows can be moved up to enclose the cockpit area from the elements.
When sailing warmer seas, the deckhouse with the main companionway opened will be beautifully connected to the cockpit,
creating an unexpectedly spacious living area. Also the Vitters’ developed rudder feed-back system is a functional improvement.
It offers the feeling of the real helm, without the need for “sports club muscles”.

Vitters yachts launched the dubois designed 46-meter superyacht named ganesha ..
The fixed carbon-fiber bimini over the cockpit offers a shady place, but it is possible to enclose the area with sliding windows to enjoy the cockpit even in bad weather. Furthermore, Vitters developed a feedback rudder system.
The owners wanted a performance-oriented sailing yacht with the possibility to cruise around the world.
The tenders are stored hidden under the foredeck, moved by cranes – also hidden installed. Speaking of hidden equipment, GANESHA has a real flush deck. Even the clamps are not visible when the yacht is in sailing mode.
“Within seven minutes from family relaxing to sailing mode… because that is how long the dishwasher runs.”

Sailing Yacht Ganesha Is An Ocean Superlative
By Victor Baker
Updated on August 31, 2017
The stunning vessel you see before you is sailing yacht Ganesha designed by the acclaimed Dutch shipyard Vitters. Completed back in 2013, this sleek and slender yacht combines elegance with top performance and efficiency in a magical manner. Its minimalist exterior and simple interiors hint of a racing yacht, yet comfort and luxury are at home here.
Ganesha was imagined upon customer request, in an effort to blend in new levels of performance with incomparable comfort and reliability. The attention to details is astonishing, easily noticeable in every aspect of this vessel which raises the bar for sailing yachts. Vitters and Dubois Yachts were in charge of design and construction, while Newcruise imagined the interiors.
The owners of this beauty wanted their ultimate sailing yacht to be able to change from a relaxing family mode into sailing mode in just a matter of minutes, seven to be more exact. Efficiency and comfort are key for Ganesha , which can easily be proven by the highest power/weight ratio of any Dubois yacht to date. Pretty impressive!
The name “ Ganesha ” references the well known Hindu divinity with the friendly face of an elephant, symbolizing benevolence, grace, kindness and playfulness. There’s no doubt in my mind that the beautiful sleek lines, a clean and uncluttered flush deck, as well as her powerful rig make this vessel worthy of that name.
On the outside, a fixed carbon bimini with large panes covering the main cockpit works alongside vertically sliding glass windows. This highly comfortable area allows passengers to find shelter from the elements, when necessary. With a spacious and open environment, this area includes stunning surrounding views and several lounging areas for guests to enjoy.
The main dining area on-board is equally impressive, featuring an al fresco dining and being able to accommodate a company of up to ten guests comfortably. When the yacht makes port, the panoramic U-shaped cockpit aft is the perfect place to relax, while waiting for the next departure.
Speaking of which, guests areas had to be comfortable and stylish, since this sailing yacht could take you to the ends of the world, and nothing but the most luxurious conditions would do. All guest areas are spacious and flooded in natural light, while the main saloon boasts a particularly open and airy ambiance. With lounge and bar areas, the saloon is the central guest area when it comes to enjoying life and the company of others.
Inside this beautiful sailing yacht there’s a light color palette and fine materials which include distinctively grained leathers, a special lacquer for the bathrooms imitating the elephant skin pearl pigmentation and Indian influenced geometric patterns.
The spacious master suite, as well as the three additional double suites – each with a luxury en suite – offer lavish accommodations for all guests, each of them qually spacious and stylish. Ganesha is a game-changer, a performance vessel equally comfortable and efficient, not to mention outrageously beautiful.

Successfully handed over to her new Owner last year, the all-new 46-metre sailing yacht Ganesha (hull 3067) is an impressively elegant performance sloop, built by the prominent Dutch shipyard, Vitters . Beautifully penned by world-renowned Dubois Naval Architects , superyacht Ganesha is expected to compete in this year’s St Barths Bucket regatta, running next month.

With a relatively narrow beam, luxury yacht Ganesha features an impressive Panamax rig. She accelerates like a race yacht, yet no compromises have been made on comfort. The luxurious yet lightweight interior is designed by Newcruise .
One clearly recognises the Owners’ vision to ultimately combine competitive sailing (also in superyacht regatta’s) and comfortably cruising the world’s seas with family and friends. Their aim to change from family relaxing mode to sailing within seven minutes – the duration of the dishwasher program – is characteristic.
For Vitters team, Ganesha yacht has been a pleasure to work on. With her 46 m LOA, clear Dubois signature and performance focus, the project fitted Vitters like a glove. Specific details like the beautifully sleek lines, flush deck, powerful rig and weight saving focus challenged Vitters to the utmost to strive for perfection in the outfitting.
Luxury sailing yacht Ganesha - Image courtesy of Dubois Naval Architects
The flush deck now looks so beautifully clean and uncluttered, yet this is the result of investing countless hours of engineering and craftsmanship. Pop-up bollards, the staysail furler stored under-deck, the winch pit forward of the mast hiding the halyards and sheets, under-deck stay attachment cylinders, the perfectly round lines of the cockpit windows reaching deck level, custom-built carbon (light weight) anchor arms, and the mainsheet arch integrated in the bimini, … all have been carefully engineered and built to give the ultimate clean appearance and add to the safety of crew and guests. The experienced Owners like to take the helm themselves, and their passion for competitive sailing is clearly recognisable throughout the Ganesha superyacht.
Another specific technical feature of SY Ganesha is the cockpit with a fixed carbon bimini. The vertically sliding curved glass windows can be moved up to enclose the cockpit area from the elements. When sailing warmer seas, the deckhouse with the main companionway opened will be beautifully connected to the cockpit, creating an unexpectedly spacious living area. Also the Vitters’ developed rudder feed-back system is a functional improvement. It offers the feeling of the real helm, without the need for “sports club muscles”.
