Meringue Clouds-Ghost House Spinning Spirit House
Star Coin 1 - As you move through the Ghost House, eventually you will gain access to the second "floor". take the door on the left to find an area with a decending platform and an angry boxing Boo. Don't kill him, rather let him smash the sides, and keep an eye on the right for an area with the Star Coin. Goad him into smashing it and take the Star Coin.

Star Coin 2 - When on the top "floor" take the door on the right to a swaying platform that rises among a circle of boo's. The coins, and the Coin Star, will trick you by moving to the other side of the platform when you get near, but play along. Finally the Star Coin will rest on the top left, so grab it before the platform passes it.

Star Coin 3 - Like other Ghost Houses, finding the Last Star Coin will lead you on a path to the Secret Exit. After clearing the top floor, head to the middle floor and use the trampoline to jump up on the far left, and into a hidden door. Navigate the hidden areas in this room for a P-Switch on the left side, then follow the blue coins through a wall. Wait for the timer to run out, then use the trampoline to collect the Last Star Coin. Exit this area to find the Secret Exit.

Secret Exit
As with other Ghost Houses, finding the last Star Coin will lead you right to the Secret Exit. After clearing the top floors of the house, go back to the middle floor, and use the trampoline on the far left to jump up and find a secret door. Go through the next area to find a path to the Secret Exit.
Finding the Secret Exit will open a path to Meringue Clouds-Castle Ludwig's Clockwork Castle.

Layout [ edit ]
In this Ghost House level, the rooms and objects slowly swing back and forth constantly, sometimes moving along with the screen when scrolled. The level begins next to a wall of Brick Blocks blocking a Warp Door . The screen scrolls left, where a Boo , a ? Block containing a power-up, and a P Switch are found. The P Switch causes Blue Coins to appear, and also turns the Brick Blocks into coins , allowing the Warp Door to be reached. The room that follows contains a pole, as well as ? Blocks and Brick Blocks that move as the screen scrolls up and down. There are two Warp Doors, which can be entered when the blocks line up with them. The bottom door leads to an area with a P Switch, causing Blue Coins to appear and turning Brick Blocks into coins. The top Warp Door leads to a room with more scrolling blocks. A P Switch is present, which allows the player to access a Warp Door located in the wall to the right. The next room has Warp Doors, as well as a moving row of coins that can be turned into Brick Blocks, allowing access to the doors. A Warp Door hidden in the wall leads to an area with a row of coins and a P Switch. The P Switch turns the coins into Brick Blocks, which move upwards whenever the player jumps. Big Boos and Circling Boo Buddies are encountered. The Warp Door at the top of the area leads to the Goal Pole .
Star Coins [ edit ]
- Star Coin 1 : In the very first room, a P Switch must be activated in order to enter the wall and grab the Star Coin.
- Star Coin 2 : In the third room, the player must enter the lower-left door. In the next room, the player should activate the P Switch, then run to the end of the room to use the Brick Blocks to reach the second Star Coin before the bricks turn back into Coins .
- Star Coin 3 : In the fifth room, the player must once again hit the P Switch to turn the row of coins into Brick Blocks. If the player jumps fast enough, the player can discover a door hidden in the ceiling. The room there autoscrolls. The player must then use the P Switch to work their way through the room. If there is still some time left in the P Switch, the player must immediately Wall Jump their way up to the third Star Coin before the bricks revert back to coins.
Secret exit [ edit ]
The secret exit is in the same room the third Star Coin is located, just through the door in the far-right of the room.

Sparkling Waters Star Coins – New Super Mario Bros. U Walkthrough
Our Sparkling Waters Coins guide is part of our New Super Mario Bros. U walkthrough and features images and tips for every Star Coin.
Sparkling Waters, or World 3, has a total of 27 Star Coins to collect, three each in each level. Some Star Coins require a specific item to collect, and our New Super Mario Bros. U walkthrough will let you know if you need a power-up or Yoshi before you head in. Need the New Super Luigi U version of this guide? See our Sparkling Waters Star Coins page here . This guide also works for New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe!
Sparkling Waters is the third world in the game and can be unlocked after defeating Morton Koopa Jr. in Layer-Cake Desert. Use the links below to jump to specific level:
3-1 Waterspout Beach
3-2 tropical refresher, 3-tower – giant skewer tower, 3-ghost – haunted shipwreck, 3-3 above the cheep cheep seas, 3-4 urchin shoals, 3-5 dragoneel’s undersea grotto, 3-castle larry’s torpedo castle, 3-beanstalk skyward stalk.

Star Coin 1 – In plain sight, use the water geyser to reach it.

Star Coin 2 – Freeze the Huckit Crab and throw it at the water sprout to have it slide past and reach the Star Coin.

Star Coin 3 – Grab the POW Block and throw it while the water geysers are active so that the Star Coin doesn’t sink into the water.

Star Coin 1 – Look for three diagonal pipes and push against the yellow pipe in the center. This will reveal a Star Coin on the right!

Star Coin 2 – Get past the Checkpoint Flag and swim underneath the small platform between the two Big Urchins. Hit the switch, then grab the falling Star Coin.

Star Coin 3 – Enter the green pipe underneath the second Big Urchin. In the secret room, grab the Star from the block and exit through the pipe on the right. Quickly move to the right and enter the next green pipe. Get past the Big Urchin blocking the path to get to the Star Coin.

Star Coin 1 – Enter the area to the left of the first skewer.

Star Coin 2 – Exit the water and use the Note Blocks to reach the Star Coin.

Star Coin 3 – Grab the hidden POW Block in the corner below the skewer past the Checkpoint Flag and toss it to bring down the Star Coin.

Star Coin 1 – Hop onto the massive floating block and jump through the right wall to reach the Star Coin below the door.

Star Coin 2 – Above the third Circling Boo Buddy is a row of coins leading to the Star Coin.

Star Coin 3 – Reach the third area and enter the hidden area above the door.

Star Coin 1 – Hard to miss this one! Step on the weighted platform and sink down before jumping over to the Star Coins. The Donut Blocks fall after stepping on them!

Star Coin 2 – Another one that’s easy to spot. Drop down after the water geyser lowers and avoid the Cheep Cheeps.

Star Coin 3 – There is a green pipe far off from the weighted platform. With Yoshi in tow, get as low as possible on the platform, then jump and flutter over to the pipe. Alternatively, jump and bounce on a Cheep Cheep without Yoshi. In the next room, grab the POW Block and stand over the second to last platform. Throw it and the Star Coin will drop on top of you.

Star Coin 1 – Mini Mushroom required! Hard to miss. Mini Mario can run along the top of water so do just that to reach this one.

Star Coin 2 – Mini Mushroom required! As soon as you grab the first Star Coin, run up the next geyser and into the small warp pipe up above. Follow the coins to get the Star Coin!

Star Coin 3 – Use a Koopa Shell to knock out all the Urchins below, the run across to the pipe at the end. Star Coin between the Urchins!

Star Coin 1 – Wait for the Dragoneel to pass, then swim past the current.

Star Coin 2 – Break through the brick blocks while the Dragoneel is twisting around.

Star Coin 3 – Enter the red warp pipe, then quickly drop down and snag the Star Coin before the two Dragoneels appear.

Star Coin 1 – Stand on the Question Blocks and wall jump up to the Star Coin.

Star Coin 2 – In the underwater section, follow the Torpedo Ted to the Star Coin.

Star Coin 3 – Enter the third section and latch onto the metal grated. Hop onto the top middle grate and enter the hidden alcove in the ceiling.

Star Coin 1 – On the left side above a retracting yellow vine.

Star Coin 2 – Look for a cloud on the left side of the level. Jump through it find a Star Coin.

Star Coin 3 – Last Star Coin is on the right side. Jump to the Star Coin and hop on the Balloon Goombas to get an extra bounce in.

In this guide, we’ll show you the locations of every Star Coin in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe ’s Meringue Clouds world.
Meringue Clouds 1 — Land of Flying Blocks
Star Coin 1 : Stay toward the front of the cloud platform — this will give you the most time to execute the moves you’ll need to get the Star Coins in this level. Just before you pass under an area filled with pipes, you’ll see a question block fly up with the other bricks. Hit it and collect the springboard that appears. When you fly under the pipes, use the springboard to bounce up and take the red pipe in the corner. The pipe will take you to an area that looks deserted, but when you start to move, blocks and coins will fly into place, giving you a path to reach the first Star Coin.
Star Coin 2 : As soon as you emerge from the pipe after collecting the first Star Coin, you’ll see the second one floating overhead. Get onto the row of bricks nearby — it’s not quite close enough to reach, but more blocks will fly into place, allowing you to reach the Star Coin.
Star Coin 3 : The final Star Coin appears while you are riding the third cloud platform. Blocks fly up to block it from you, so get on top of the blocks and ground pound to access the Star Coin, then jump to break out before the cloud platform leaves you behind.
Meringue Clouds 2 — Seesaw Shrooms

Star Coin 1 : The first Star Coin is easiest if you have Yoshi, but he’s not essential. You’ll see the Star Coin on a seesaw platform early in the level — it’s possible to reach it on your own if you get enough of a running start from the seesaw to the left, or you can use Yoshi’s flutter jump.
Star Coin 2 : Just after the checkpoint, a Lakitu will appear. Work your way a few platforms over until you find one high enough so you can jump on its head. Around this point, you’ll notice a circle of coins in the sky. Defeat the Lakitu and use its cloud to rise up to the coins — you’ll also find the Star Coin.
Star Coin 3 : You’ll need Yoshi for the final Star Coin. After the spot with the second Star Coin, you’ll reach an area with expanding and retracting platforms and several Fuzzies. Eventually, you’ll come to a platform ringed by two Fuzzies and a pipe overhead. Use Yoshi to bounce off a Fuzzy and into the pipe, where you’ll see the Star Coin high overhead. Use Yoshi’s flutter jump. Then, when he’s at his highest point, leap off his back to reach the Star Coin.
Meringue Clouds 3 — Switchback Hill

Star Coin 1 : You’ll see this Star Coin under a platform. Use the platform headed left to collect it, ducking to avoid the Bullet Bills.
Star Coin 2 : You’ll see a long platform with a down arrow next to a rocky outcropping. There’s a telltale indentation in the rock that says something is hidden there. Jump on the platform and wall jump up to find a hidden pipe. Take it to a room with a Star Coin, plus many platforms and Bullet Bills.
Star Coin 3 : The final Star Coin requires timing and speed. You’ll see a POW Block on a platform. Take it down and throw it underneath the right-arrow platform. You’ll bring the Star Coin down onto the platform, which will start moving. The next part is tricky, because you have to keep up with that platform. Take the platforms as quickly as possible and dodge the Bullet Bills — eventually, the platform will slide under a wall, and push the Star Coin off. Catch it as it falls.
Meringue Clouds Tower — Slide Lift Tower

Star Coin 1 : You’ll need a Super Acorn for this Star Coin. At the top of the first room in the tower, you will see the Star Coin above a Fire Bro. Take him out, then glide jump to break the bricks and grab the Star Coin.
Star Coin 2 : You’ll also need a Super Acorn here. In the middle of the second room, you’ll see a signpost pointing right. On the opposite wall is a hidden area with coins and another hidden area with a pipe. Use your glide jump to reach the pipe. The next area will require you to jump on more sliding blocks — time your moves and use the Super Acorn’s glide to help you reach the Star Coin.
Star Coin 3 : Just above where you got the second Star Coin is an area with a huge Fire Bar. You’ll enter on the right side — head to the wall and jump up to reveal a hidden Fire Flower. Climb on the block and jump again to reveal a hidden coin block. From here, you can access a hidden pipe. The next room is filled with sliding blocks and looks overwhelming. Note the nooks in the walls where you can hide if you need a break. Just keep working your way up and left, and the Star Coin will be yours.
Meringue Clouds Ghost House — Spinning Spirit House

Star Coin 1 : In the main grid room, when you make it to the second floor, take the door on the left. You’ll find yourself in a room with a Broozer — don’t hurt him! Just avoid him and lure him to the sides, where he’ll punch out boxes filled with coins. Eventually, you can lead him to break some blocks and clear the way to the Star Coin.
Star Coin 2 : After you exit the room with the first Star Coin, you can take a springboard to the third floor of the main grid room. The Star Coin is in the room to the right (you’ll have to go through the room to the left to gain access to it, though). You’ll enter the room on a rising platform with Boos spinning around you. Eventually, you’ll see the Star Coin. As you move toward it, it will jump to the other side of the room. Collect it before the platform rises up and hides it, but if you can’t make it, you can return to this room and try again.
Star Coin 3 : After you exit the room with the second Star Coin, you’ll be back in the main grid room. At the right end of this floor, you can drop back down to the second floor. Grab the springboard and bring it one square to the left — you can use it to jump to the third floor, then drop to a hidden room on the left side of the second floor. Once there, you’ll find a P Switch. Follow the trail of blue coins to a hidden area (it’ll be blocked off by bricks if you don’t get there before the P Switch runs out). Use the springboard to collect your final Star Coin.
Meringue Clouds 4 — Bouncy Cloud Boomerangs

Star Coin 1 : You’ll see a group of four green pipes with a Boomerang Bro nearby. In the gap in the middle of the four pipes, you will just be able to make out a Star Coin in the clouds. Slide down and snag it, then wall jump back up.
Star Coin 2 : Just after the spot where you got the first Star Coin is a long row of bricks and question blocks. Ground pound a brick to land on one of the bouncy clouds below, then hit the question blocks. One of them will spawn a vine. Climb up the vine and make your way through this new area until you spot a POW Block. Throw it to bring the Star Coin down, but grab it before it rolls off the bouncy clouds.
Star Coin 3 : Just after the checkpoint, you will see a stone cliff with a green pipe below. Get down onto the pipe and head left to find a second, hidden pipe. Take it, and you will be shot through a line of coins and see the Star Coin above. Jump on the bouncy cloud and avoid the Boomerang Bro to get it.
Meringue Clouds 5 — A Quick Dip in the Sky

Star Coin 1 : The first Star Coin is easy to see, circling two giant Piranha Plants.
Star Coin 2 : The second Star Coin is also easy to see, but getting it is less obvious. It appears to be buried in a cliff under a platform — but on the side of that cliff is the telltale indentation of a hidden spot. Jump at the cliff wall to discover a path to the Star Coin. For a bonus, enter the pipe below — it will shoot you through the Star Coin and take you further up the level.
Star Coin 3 : The final Star Coin is near the end of the level, surrounded by two swarming Fuzzies. You’ll have to shoot them or take damage to claim your prize.
Meringue Clouds 6 — Snaking above Mist Valley

Star Coin 1 : Early in the level, you will see a P Switch in the sky (a Foo will try to blow mist to cover it). Hit it and follow the blue coins to the first Star Coin.
Star Coin 2 : Soon after the first Star Coin, you will jump off the snake block and onto a set of two grassy platforms with bricks between them. To the right of these platforms you will see the second Star Coin. When the snake block rises up to it, jump up to get it.
Star Coin 3 : After the checkpoint, the snake block will head straight down a line of coins. That’s your cue to get ready for the final Star Coin by knocking out one of the Koopa Paratroopas and grabbing its shell. You’ll see the Star Coin, but the snake block is in your way. After you pass it, throw the Koopa shell at it to collect it.
Meringue Clouds Castle — Ludwig’s Clockwork Castle

Star Coin 1 : After passing a Big Dry Bones and a Fire Bro, you’ll come to an area with two clockwork platforms smashing together. Above these platforms, you will see a nook with some coins. Wall jump up that nook to find a hidden Star Coin.
Star Coin 2 : You will see a POW Block above a Sumo Bro. Jump on his head and hit the POW Block, which will bring down the second Star Coin.
Star Coin 3 : Just before the end of the level, you will see the Star Coin underneath a long platform that a clockwork block is running back and forth on. Move fast and get the Star Coin before the block gets you.
Meringue Clouds Airship — Boarding the Airship

Star Coin 1 : You’ll spend a couple of minutes dodging the airship’s mechanical hand as it slaps onto the ground. After a few slaps, it’ll take a short break. When this happens, get as far forward as you can. The robot hand will come back as a fist and punch down, destroying the landscape. Keep ahead of it, and after a few punches you’ll see the Star Coin in a nook underneath a hill. Get in, get it, and as soon as more land appears for you to jump to, get out.
Star Coin 2 : After the first checkpoint, you’ll jump onto a platform you can make move by tilting your controller. The second Star Coin is close — you’ll see it above three fire spouts. Time your movements and claim your prize.
Star Coin 3 : You’ll need a Super Acorn to reach the final Star Coin. After the coin challenge, the camera will pan up and you’ll be able to see it on a platform above you. Use a glide jump to jump up and collect it.
