The wishing well has been a staple in The Sims franchise since The Sims 2 and has returned to the game with The Sims 4: Romantic Garden Stuff . Your sim is able to interact with the wishing well and hope for things like romance, simoleons, happiness, and more.

However, beware of the negative consequences because it’s rather easy to die from the negative aspects of the wishing well.

Wishing Well Basics

The wishing well came with Romantic Garden Stuff and is available in buy mode, however, this is an expensive item. It will cost you § 7,775 so you better start saving, or use money cheats to get the job done.

The description of the wishing well states the following:

Step closer, won’t you? What’s the harm in simply tossing a coin? You can spare a single coin can’t you? You don’t believe in “magic” after all… it’s just an old well. Did that face just move… did it twitch?! No, it must be shadows playing tricks on you; bear no mind to its appearance. Make a wish… it’s all in good fun, right? You’ve already brushed aside the warnings of the locals in your hubris. They know better than to cast their lot with the Whispering Well.

Making an Offering to the Wishing Well

A huge factor in getting better results from the wishing well is the happiness of the wishing well itself, so making an offering can be a great way to make the well pleased with you. However, your offerings must be pretty large if you want to have the best results.

There are 3 values of offerings that you can offer the well. The first is §100, this offering is essentially useless because the wishing well wants more from you. This low of an offering is probably going to make the wishing well upset.

The second offering size is §1,000 . This offering has about a 50% chance of changing the mood of the wishing well, but it can also go down. You should avoid spamming this action because the more you do it the more annoyed the wishing well will be.

The final offering size is §5,000 . This offering will always raise the wishing well’s mood which means that you’ll have a higher success rate!

Faces of the Wishing Well

A decent way to sort of guess the outcome of your wish is by looking at the face that the wishing well is making. There are four faces that are possible and they are: happy, neutral, mischievous and deadly.

Types of Wishing and Outcomes

Adult or Young Adult sims are able to wish to have a child, but make sure you don’t have a full household when making this wish.

Children and teenagers are able to ask the wishing well for higher grades.

Sims of any age (except toddlers) can ask for happiness which can improve their mood.

A sim who is a ghost has the option of asking the wishing well to help them come back to life.

Sims who are teenaged and older who have a job can ask for a promotion.

Sims who are a teen or older are able to wish for a romantic relationship, as long as they don’t currently have a significant other.

Sims child aged and older are able to wish for simoleons from the wishing well.

Sims can ask for skill gains that will add to existing skills or give them an entire new skill.

Youthful Vigor

Sims can ask for youthful vigor and add some time to their lifespan.

Wishing Well Cool Down

After you use the wishing well you will need to wait for the cool down period of 8 hours to finish befor eusing it again. You can also turn off the cool down period by using the testingcheats true cheat and shift clicking on the wishing well.

Final Thoughts

The wishing well was a fun addition to the game and can give you some interesting outcomes if you let it. Just be careful of getting the death outcomes because you don’t want to kill your sims!

While there are 6 categories of outcomes for each wish, Simmers across the Sims Community forums are reporting slight variations of the neutral, positive and negative effects unique to each Sim’s storyline. We will update each outcome with specific moodlet lengths each time we use The Wishing Well.

Wishing Well: Wish for Toddlers by zeldagirl180 at Mod The Sims 4

Mods / Traits: Wishing Well: Wish for Toddlers by zeldagirl180 – Mod The Sims 4.

Romantic Garden stuff was unfortunately made before toddlers and was never updated. I wanted to correct this.

By EA default, the EA outcomes to the wish for child interaction are Overwhelmingly Positive: Creates a child related to you at random. Positive: Free Adoption. Neutral: Guaranteed success on try for baby. Negative: Unable to conceiver for 4 hours. Overwhelmingly negative: Spawns an evil child Death: Adds a ghost child to your household.

The only thing this mod changes is the overwhelmingly positive outcome and replaces the child with a toddler instead. Every other outcome will still work the way it did, so you can still get an evil child or a ghost child.

This pack naturally requires Romantic Garden Stuff to work.

The Sims 4 Ghosts explained, from why you want to turn into a ghost, how to become a ghost, and back again

Everything you need to know about dabbling in the afterlife.

If you're looking for something that goes bump in the night (and we don't mean in the WooHoo variety, then you'll probably want to know more about The Sims 4 Ghosts .

Ghosts are supernatural characters that are a staple of The Sims franchise, and they reappear in The Sims 4 base game.

Ghosts are non-playable characters by default, but can be made playable with the right know-how. This page covers how to make ghosts playable in The Sims 4 , as well as detailing the powers, abilities, and unique behaviours of this occult creature type.

Death is its own (mis)adventure in The Sims 4: with all add-ons installed, there are over twenty different ways for your Sims to meet their maker. This page isn't about turning a living Sim into a dead one - instead, it primarily covers turning an already deceased Sim into a fully playable ghost.

On this page:

What are ghosts in The Sims 4 and why would you want to become one?

How do you become a playable ghost in the sims 4, how to turn your ghost back into a regular sim.

  • What other ghost types are there?

Looking for more The Sims 4 help? Our The Sims 4 cheats page can help fast track you to various aspects of the game.

Technically speaking, Sims in The Sims 4 don't have to die: even the inevitable death from old age can be staved off almost indefinitely using satisfaction rewards, or even averted forever by turning the game's auto-ageing mechanic off in the Game Options panel.

In normal gameplay, your Sim's loved ones can even bargain with the Grim Reaper as he comes to collect, which has a chance of successfully convincing him to spare them... at least this time. But, you do of course have the option to just let them go.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

A Sim who dies while you're actively playing their household leaves a grave marker (a gravestone if placed outdoors, or an urn if placed indoors) at the site of their death. This can be moved to a more convenient location in Build Mode, and it serves as a reminder of their life and legacy. Quite a vivid reminder, actually, since sooner or later a ghost of said Sim will emerge: looking much as they did in life, except more... translucent.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

Initially, ghosts will be non-playable characters (NPCs), regardless of their prior playability. These ghosts spawn from their grave marker and will tend to stay nearby to it until you interact with them.

How to meet ghosts in The Sims 4

Unfortunately, NPC ghosts very much work to their own schedule, and there's not much you can do to make one appear except wait. However, you can use the 'Strengthen Connection' interaction with the grave marker to ensure that their spirit doesn't fade from the world in the meantime.

(Translation: because The Sims 4 can only handle a limited number of characters in a single save, NPC ghosts you don't interact with will eventually be deleted to prevent game-breaking overpopulation. Strengthening the connection tells the game not to do this.)

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

Additional note: With the Realm of Magic game pack installed, a spellcaster who has reached the rank of Acolyte of Untamed Magic can learn the Necrocall spell to instantly summon ghosts.

After they've materialised, the ghost will hang around the place doing ghost stuff (more on that shortly), and your playable characters can interact with them like any other Sim (including the ability to WooHoo )... although they might need a moment or two for the shock to wear off.

Also, it should also be added NPC ghosts can't be contacted by phone, even if they appear in your relationships panel. Thanks to the weirdness of The Sims 4, however, they might call you and ask you out for a night on the town. Accepting the invitation allows you to build your relationship with the ghost without needing to wait for them to spawn near their grave.

Why would you want to make a ghost playable?

For many players, the idea that ghosts are cool will be reason enough to want to make a few of them playable. They are, after all, the original supernatural creature type of The Sims franchise, and a staple of many occultish households you might want to create.

The main practical benefit of the ghost mechanic is that it allows you to keep a character around after they die. It's useful if you had more you wanted them to achieve in terms of their aspirations, skills, careers, and relationships (a.k.a. a classic case of unfinished business); or if you were just particularly fond of that character. Having a deceased Sim's ghost stick around is also a necessary first step towards resurrecting them, if that's your eventual aim.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

Unlike most occult creature types in The Sims 4, there's no major gameplay differences between a living Sim and a ghostly one: once they move in, a ghost Sim will spend the majority of their time behaving just like they did before they died.

Despite the obvious cosmetic differences, they will still have to eat, sleep, use the bathroom, and generally attend to all the other needs they had in life. Of course, since they can't get any deader, starving won't kill them, and you can feel free to trap them in a burning room or send them swimming until their energy runs out with no further fatal results.

However, catastrophic need failures will still make ghosts very uncomfortable, and eventually you will have to attend to the depleted need before the Sim will be able to engage in any other activities.

In addition, adding a ghost to the household allows you to take control of their hauntings. While NPC ghosts may occasionally engage in destructive or antisocial behaviours based on their cause of death (e.g. a ghost who burned to death starting fires, or one who died from extreme negative emotion causing the same moodlet in nearby Sims), playable ghosts will no longer do this autonomously.

Finally, if you're an achievement hunter, you'll need playable ghosts to unlock two secret ones: 'Ghostly' (have a ghost in your household) and 'Ghost Family' (have a family of 8 playable ghosts).

What can you make a ghost do?

Being a playable ghost in The Sims 4 also comes with a modest set of special animations, object interactions, and social options.

Ghosts are semi-invisible and fade out somewhere around the calf region, which might explain their use of a unique floating walk animation. (Although it does make it very difficult to try on shoes.)

If you've ever been annoyed that your Sim takes ages to pathfind, you'll be pleased to learn that this isn't a problem once they're a ghost: they can take the most direct route to wherever it is they're going, and if there are pesky obstacles like tables and walls in the way, they'll just float straight through them. They can even pass through living Sims, though they won't do this autonomously, but as a social interaction under the 'Mischief' category.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

Other unique social interactions between ghosts and their living friends allow an open and honest dialogue about death and what comes after, as well as giving the ghost the opportunity to deliver a few scares (mostly it's in good fun, though). If you have the Seasons expansion installed, interacting with a ghost fulfills the 'Spooky Spirit' holiday tradition; and with the Spooky stuff pack, ghosts can wear carved pumpkins on their head for a quick boost to their mood.

Finally, ghosts have the ability to 'Possess' certain objects, such as kitchen counters, refrigerators, and televisions. (For meta levels of spookiness, they can even possess their own urn or gravestone.) This causes the ghost to disappear into the object, which will then float around for a few moments while they have their fun. The downside to this is that it can cause some alarm to any living Sims who witness it; but on the plus side, the 'Ghostly Repair' interaction allows ghost Sims to fix certain broken household items as they possess them.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

There are multiple ways to become a ghost in The Sims 4:

Method 1: Making friends and influencing dead people

The only official method for getting a playable ghost in The Sims 4 is to befriend a ghost NPC and add them to your household.

This works in largely the same way as getting a living roommate, except that the randomness of ghosts spawning and the inability to contact them via the telephone adds an extra level of difficulty.

Ghosts of formerly playable Sims retain the relationship values with others they had at the time of their death, with relationship decay occurring at the game's fairly forgiving daily rate if you don't interact. Familial and friendly relationships will see no change in status.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

However, formal romantic bonds - boy/girlfriend, fiancé(e), spouse - will be dissolved (since it would hardly be fair to force the surviving partner to break up with a dead person in order to move on); but romantic relationship value will remain, making it the work of moments to ask one another out again.

Once your active Sim has made contact with the ghost you want to make playable, enough time and positive social interactions will allow you to use the 'Invite to Household' interaction, which can be found under the 'Friendly' category.

The interaction might take a little while to appear, even if your Sim and the ghost have a good pre-existing relationship; don't worry too much if the ghost de-spawns a couple of times and you have to wait for them to reappear again before it becomes available.

Generally speaking, it helps to have the characters be at least Good Friends (which unlocks when the friendly relationship bar is around 60% full); for them both to be in a positive overall emotional state; and for the current conversation between them to also have a positive mood attached to it.

Upon the ghost Sim accepting the invitation, they'll immediately become a fully playable member of your active household.

Method 2: Downloading a ghost from the Gallery

Unlike most other occult creature types in The Sims 4, you can't create ghosts in Create-A-Sim. Ghosts were introduced as a bonus rather than a big new feature, and so if you want a playable one you're meant to wait for a Sim to die (or help them along in that direction, you murderer) and then have another Sim invite them to move back in, as detailed in Method 1.

However: The Sims community is a generous, collaborative, creative space, and even if the devs didn't want you making ghosts in CAS, you'd better believe that your fellow players almost immediately came up with a work-around.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

Opening CAS and selecting on the 'Gallery' icon from the panel in the upper right hand corner (the one that looks like a stack of polaroid photos) gives you access to player-created content that can be downloaded and added to your game.

Searching the Gallery with terms including the word 'ghost' (e.g. 'ghost family', 'female ghost', etc.) gives you access to literally thousands of playable ghost characters who can then be edited in CAS - because, once playable, a ghost is fully editable.

Some helpful souls have even created 'ghost templates' or 'ghost bases': generic looking starter characters who can quickly be modified into the ghost Sim you want to play with.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

'Merge' or 'Replace' your current CAS Sim with the ghost household from the Gallery, and it becomes an ordinary CAS experience (with an added spectral touch: seriously, have fun trying to pick good shoes for a Sim with no visible feet).

Edit the ghost Sim to your heart's content, save the household when you're done, and voilà! Your playable ghost is ready to move in.

This method has the benefit of being completely cheat-free, massively reducing the risk of corrupting your save.

The only minor drawback is that your ghost won't come with a grave marker, meaning that some interactions tied to that object (e.g. mourning and returning to the Netherworld) are unavailable for that character.

Method 3: Using cheats

There are two main types of cheat to add a playable ghost to your household. As always, begin by saving your game, opening the cheats console, and entering 'testingcheats on'. Then, depending on which result you want, enter one of the following cheats:

  • Adding an NPC ghost to the household: If you want to quickly add an existing NPC ghost to your Sim's household, Shift+Click on the ghost and select the 'Add to Family' option from the pop-up debug menu. This works just like the 'Invite to Household' social interaction in that it immediately makes the character playable in your household, but it carries no potential for rejection.
  • Making a living Sim into a ghost: If you want a playable Sim to become a playable ghost without delay, this is the only way to achieve it. With your chosen ghost-to-be as the active character, enter 'traits.equip_trait {cause of death}'. Any cause of death from the base game or add-ons can be equipped this way: for example, 'traits.equip_trait hunger' will instantly turn your Sim into a ghost who died of starvation, without the unpleasantness of actually watching them starve to death. They will not acquire a grave marker, and their loved ones will not get any Sad moodlets relating to their death; nor will they lose their jobs or romantic relationships.

Method 4: Die

Look, it may not be as fancy as you'd like it to be, but we're 100% sure that the best way to become a Ghost Sim or get a Ghost Sim into your house is to just straight up die.

Once your Sim has died, use another Sim to pick up your gravestone and take it back home. Once that's done, put the headstone down and choose to Strengthen Connection to the Physical World. Then wait. Eventually the dead Sim will show up (usually at night) and you can interact with them. Once you have a friendly relationship with the Ghost Sim (or if you did before they died) you can invite them to your Household again and then, voila! Ghost Sim time.

How you choose to die is up to you, but we recommend going through with this method with another Sim in your household otherwise you'll risk dying and your gravestone being lost to the ages before a Sim can pick it up and put it in their inventory.

As fun as it can be to have a ghost in your Sims' household, there are some good reasons for wanting to restore your dead Sims to life. Neither family members nor the deceased themselves are ever quite able to get over the loss: living loved ones still become sad when interacting with the ghost's grave marker, and the deceased themselves have the unique option to mourn for their own lost life.

Also, ghosts can get kind of distracting after a while: even putting aside their tendency to idly possess household appliances, it can just look a bit weird to have a ghost residing alongside their living family, all of whom are still presumably growing and ageing. Ultimately, you (maybe) wanted that Sim to live a good, long, happy life, right?

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

Bringing a ghost Sim back from the dead is no easy task: it can be done, but it usually takes a special show of dedication.

There are two methods of restoring a ghost to life in the base game, and two more have been introduced in add-on content:

Ambrosia: Ambrosia is a food that can be prepared and fed to a ghost Sim in order to resurrect them. However, it can only be prepared by a Sim who has achieved Level 10 in both the Cooking and Gourmet Cooking skills; and requires some extremely rare ingredients: a Death Flower, an Angelfish, and a Potion of Youth.

The Book of Life: A Sim who has the Poetic reward trait (granted for completing the Bestselling Author aspiration) can take preemptive measures to protect their loved ones from a ghostly purgatory.

Poetic Sims have the ability to write The Book of Life on a computer; once written, the book can be bound to another living Sim using the 'Capture Epic Saga' interaction. From then on, if the target Sim dies and becomes a playable ghost, they can use the book to restore themselves to life. (Note: The Book of Life cannot be bound to Sims who are already ghosts, or to its own author.)

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

Wishing Well: A ghost can interact with the wishing well object and choose to wish for 'Life'. If they succeed, they will either be restored straight away; given a serving of ambrosia; or given the ingredients to craft ambrosia, which will require the same skill levels set out above. (Requires The Sims 4: Romantic Garden stuff pack.)

Dedeathify: A spellcaster who has achieved the rank of Master of Untamed Magic can use the Dedeathify spell on a ghost to bring them back to life. (Requires The Sims 4: Realm of Magic game pack.)

Resurrection cheats: If the officially sanctioned in-game methods are beyond your Sims' reach - or if you want instant results - you can bring a playable ghost back to life using cheats instead.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

After opening the cheats console and turning testingcheats on, enter 'traits.remove_trait {cause of death}' to instantly return your Sim to the land of the living.

For example, if some cruel person lured a Sim into a swimming pool and then blocked all the exits until they drowned, entering 'traits.remove_trait drown' on the active ghost of said Sim would immediately undo that terrible fate.

If you don't know or can't remember a Sim's cause of death, don't worry: you can view their death trait in their Simology panel. And as always, be sure to save your game beforehand.

What other ghost types are there in The Sims 4?

Ghosts don't have to be just Sims, you know - there are other hybrids out there...

Ghosts and other occult creatures

Ordinarily, The Sims 4 doesn't allow for hybrid creature types. If, for example, your Sim's mother was a mermaid and her father was an alien, she'll be born with just one set of powers or the other.

Likewise, if your Sim is a vampire who dreams of becoming a spellcaster, they'll have to relinquish their status as one of the children of the night before they get issued with their magic wand. It would be really cool to have both at once, but we don't make the rules.

Ghosts are a slightly different matter. Death isn't quite inevitable in the world of The Sims 4, but it's hard for anyone to avoid the Grim Reaper forever, and even the notional immortality of vampirism doesn't protect your Sim from certain forms of accidental death.

Under those circumstances, it would be a bit unfair for you to lose that Sim permanently just because they were an occult creature in (un)life.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

Aliens, vampires, mermaids , and spellcasters retain their powers after they die, in addition to acquiring ghost powers - the one exception to the rule that disallows hybrid creature types in The Sims 4.

Furthermore, Sims who were not occult creatures before they died can still travel to the Realm of Magic and complete the quest to become spellcasters; however, they cannot consume kelp to become mermaids or ask vampires to turn them.

(Luckily, if you simply must have it, the usual cheats can be used to turn any ghost into a compatible hybrid occult type. You can even turn them into an alien, something which is not even achievable in-game through normal means.)

If you have the Discover University expansion installed, your playable Servos will suffer a much sadder fate. Apparently the makers of The Sims 4 don't believe that even the most Turing-test approved robots can have souls, because once your Servo dies, they're gone forever.

They'll leave behind a grave marker for you to remember them by like any other Sim, but there's also a pile of scrap metal next to it: the latter is all that remains of your departed robot buddy.

Ghostly pets

If you have the Cats and Dogs expansion installed, your beloved fur babies will sadly be subject to the inevitabilities of life and death. Fortunately, as with any other living Sim in a household, cats and dogs who have a grave marker on the lot can reappear as ghosts and be added back to your family.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

Like their humanoid counterparts, you can contact your deceased pets by waiting for them to spawn near their grave marker. Once they're there, having them rejoin the family works just the same: do friendly interactions with them until you're at least Good Friends, and eventually you will be given the option to add them to the household.

Ghost pets can be resurrected by feeding them Ambrosia as a treat. If you don't have the requisite skills and ingredients, you can even buy a pet treat version of Ambrosia at the vet clinic, provided you have two-and-a-half grand to spare.

(And in case you were wondering - no, you can't exploit this system and feed the Ambrosia treat to an ordinary ghost Sim. Even a second chance at life isn't worth the indignity of eating a dog biscuit, it seems.)

However, unlike mishap-prone bipeds, cats and dogs can only die of old age.

Therefore, giving them Ambrosia will grant them just two or three days' extra life before they die once again, and restart the cycle as an NPC ghost. So if you want to hold on to them long-term, it's perhaps better to keep them around in ghostly form.

Other unique ghost types

If you haven't played around all that much as a Ghost in The Sims 4, you might not actually know that depending on how your Sim has died, they'll get their very own unique trait. This trait can be seen by other Sims when either interacting with the Ghost or watching the Ghost interact with other objects.

The different Sims 4 Ghost types and traits are:

  • Death by Old Age - This Ghost Sim has done everything they need to do in life, and as such they don't have a specific Ghost trait.

  • Death by Overheating - This Ghost Sim didn't pay attention to the heat and suffered for it.
  • Death by Freezing - This Ghost Sim didn't pay attention to the cold and suffered for it. At least they got to turn blue before travelling to the afterlife.
  • Death by Lightning - This Ghost Sim has the worst luck ever and got struck by lightning!
  • Death by Flower Scent - This Ghost Sim sniffed the wrong flower and have been sent to the afterlife. (The Sims 4 Seasons only)
  • Death by Mother Plant - This Ghost Sim got too close to The Mother Plant and paid for it. All they've got to show for it is weird spores that follow them around. (The Sims 4 Seasons only)
  • Death by Murphy Bed - This Ghost Sim got beat to death by a vengeful Murphy Bed. They'll not feel too safe around them, despite already being dead. (The Sims 4 Tiny House only)
  • Death by Flies - This Ghost Sim didn't clean up after themselves and got eaten by flies to make up for it. Gnarly.
  • Death by Falling from a Great Height - This Ghost Sim went rock-climbing but didn't have the strength to continue, falling to their death. (The Sims 4 Snowy Escape only)
  • Death by Vending Machine - This Ghost Sim didn't learn about patience, and ended up getting crushed by a vending machine because of it.

  • Death by Urban Legend - This Ghost Sim said 'Bloody Mary' too many times in the mirror and paid the ultimate price for it. (The Sims 4 High School Years only)

The Sims 4: How to trigger Death by Wishing Well

  • by Mark Schusste

The-Sims-4-wishing-well-death

The Wishing Well supports nine different types of wishes in The Sims 4. There’s a total number of 54 potential outcomes.

Your Sims can wish for Romance, Happiness, Wealth, Life, Youthful Vigor, Grades, Promotion, a Child, and a Special Skill.

However, making a wish can sometimes be deadly.

How do I trigger Death by Wishing Well in The Sims 4?

To trigger Death by Wishing Well in The Sims 4, make a 100 Simoleons offering to the wishing well to lower its mood. This will increase the chances of a deadly outcome.

Wait until the wishing well gets the Deadly Face and have your Sim make one of the following wishes: Simoleons, Youthful Vigor, Happiness, Promotion, or Skill.

There’s an 80% Death Outcome chance when the wishing well has a Deadly Face.

How to force death outcomes with the Wishing Well

You can also use cheat codes to force death outcomes.

To do that, press the Shift, Ctrl, and C keys and type in testingcheats true . Then, shift-click the well, and select Force outcomes . Click on Force death outcomes , and have your Sim make their last wish.

And this is how you can cheat the mood of the Wishing Well to be death.

⇒ Fun Fact:

If you want to raise the well’s mood and increase the chances of a positive outcome, make a 5,000 Simoleons offering.

What wishes have a deadly outcome in The Sims 4?

There are 9 different types of wishes that the Wishing Well can grant your Sim. There are six possible outcomes, depending on the well’s mood:

  • Overwhelmingly positive (White)
  • Positive (Green)
  • Neutral (Blue)
  • Negative (Orange)
  • Overwhelmingly negative (Red)
  • Deadly (Black)

If the color of the visual effects is black, this indicates the outcome will be a deadly one.  Each outcome will trigger a unique moodlet on your Sim.

The following wishes will result in a deadly outcome if the wishing well has the Deadly Face: Simoleons, Youthful Vigor, Happiness, Promotion, and Skill.

Wish for Simoleons

Wishing for Simoleons can result in the wishing Sim getting set on fire. Instead of getting a ton of Simoleons, your Sim gets engulfed in flames.

If you don’t put out the fire fast , they’ll die. Death by Fire is not fun.

The-Sims-4-death-by-fire

Your Sim will also get the “ My Simoleons Burned Up! ” Tense moodlet.

Additionally, 10,000 Simoleons will instantly disappear from your household funds. Gone forever.

Wishing for Happiness

Wishing for Happiness can result in the wishing Sim gaining a Very Playful moodlet .

If you don’t get rid of this buff fast, your Sim will get Hysterical and die of laughter .

Sims 4 Death by Hysteria

Wishing for Youthful Vigor

Wishing for Youthful Vigor may sometimes turn the wishing Sim into a ghost . They’ll get a random death trait and the Perpetual Youth Sad moodlet.

The good news is that your Sim remains playable.

Instead of wishing for Youthful Vigor, you could try to complete the Bodybuilder aspiration and reach your Sim’s maximum body potential .

They’ll get the Long-Lived trait which adds a few more days to their life span .

Wishing for a Promotion

Wishing for a promotion can sometimes result in the exact opposite thing. Your Sim may get demoted and even fired.

As a result, they’ll get the Very Angry moodlet which may result in Death by Anger after realizing they worked so hard for nothing.

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

Wishing for a Special Skill

Wishing for a Special Skill may result in a Very Embarrassed moodlet . Your Sim will feel very embarrassed for lacking the necessary talent to get that skill. This can result in Death by Embarrassment.

⇒ Important Note:

The following wishes won’t kill your Sim:

The Deadly Outcome for a Sim wishing for a Child is a ghost child added to the household. If your Sim can’t try for a baby or get pregnant , there’s always the option to adopt a child .

The Deadly Outcome for a Sim wishing for more Romance in their life is a random ghost Sim that will have the Soulmates relationship status with your Sim.

Learn more about Sim Deaths

Did you know there are 34 ways your Sims can die in The Sims 4 ?

For example, you can trigger death by starvation , electrocution , overexertion , meteorite ,  Pufferfish , Cowplant , or drowning .

Other potentially deadly activities include drinking Beetle Juice , sniffing a Death Flower bouquet , using the Research Machine , relaxing in the sauna , or opening a Murphy Bed .

If you have Seasons, Sims can freeze to death , get heatstroke, or get struck by lightning .

The Sims 4 universe is full of angry flies , poisonous bugs , pets infected with Rabid Rodent Fever , and revengeful Mother Plants .

By the way, spellcasters can die of Magic Overload and vampires can  burn to a crisp from sun exposure .

If your Sims live in the countryside, angry rabbits and chickens can attack and kill them.

If you want to get rid of teenagers, you’ve got two options: Death by Stink Capsule or Urban Myth .

Well, if your Sims have managed to escape all these dangers, they can’t escape Old Age .

Or maybe they can if you disable this feature.

Happy Simming!

Wishing Well

Getting the Wishing Well is an incredibly hard task to do. To get it, a Sim has to get a high score from the Garden Club . This can be achieved by maintaining a clean garden, filled with flourishing plants and well kept shrubs/hedges etc., and by placing lights, fountains, and sculptures. When the Garden Club members have inspected the garden, they will ask the Sim to join their elite group, and will randomly place the Wishing Well somewhere on the lot. If there is not enough space to place the Wishing Well, it will be placed in the Sim's inventory instead. The Wishing Well has two functions: Sims can draw and drink water from the well, which will reduce their temperature and provide a slight boost in hunger (useful for PlantSims as this fills up the "Water" need faster than water from the tap), and as the name suggests, as an object for making wishes. Sims can wish for Romance, Friends, or Money. Each wish has one positive and one negative outcome; the outcome will automatically be negative if the Wishing Well has been used less than 24 hours earlier.

Each time wishes are made, the chance of successful outcome is reduced. The first wish will always be successful.

  • 85% after 1 wish
  • 60% after 2 wishes
  • 30% after 3 wishes
  • 15% after 4 wishes
  • 5% after 5 wishes
  • 0% after more than 6 wishes

After 5 wishes are successful, all further wishes will fail.

List of Wishes [ ]

Wishing for friends [ ], wishing for romance [ ], wishing for money [ ].

Even after the 5 wishes have been used up, the well still has some use, so don't delete it.

  • Sims can still drink from it.
  • The Money wish still gives 50 Simoleons, as long as the wisher has high motives.
  • The Friends wish is great fodder for a Cowplant .
  • If an adult wishes for friends and the outcome is successful and The Sims 2: University is installed, there's a chance that the well may spawn young adults as friends and vice-versa. The well may spawn young adults and adults at the same time, but this is extremely uncommon.
  • If The Sims 2: Bon Voyage is installed and a bigfoot uses a Wishing Well, the game will force an error if he tries to wish for romance.
  • If a Sim makes a wish from the Wishing Well while an angry ghost is nearby, the ghost may interrupt the results—whether the wish was successful or unsuccessful—by popping up out of the well and scaring the Sim.
  • The Sims 2: Bon Voyage also adds a shrine that works very similarly to a wishing well.

The Sims 3 Store [ ]

The wishing well is available with purchase of Lucky Palms . Teens and above are allowed to use the well. In the Lucky Palms world , a wishing well is placed by default on a small lot between the city hall and "Botanical Garden".

  • Wish for Love, Wealth, Power, Happiness, or even a Child!
  • Make sure to dip your fishing hook in the Well – you'll catch some amazing fish regardless of your Fishing Skill level!
  • If you have the Tree of Prosperity on your lot, pixies and fireflies in the Well become very active in the evening!
  • If you have The Sims 3: Pets installed, the Child you wish for may not be what you expect.
  • If you've got sticky fingers, you can steal coins from the Well. You may get wet, or you may get lucky.

The Wishing Outcomes [ ]

Wishing for love [ ].

A frog will hop out of the well and the wisher will kiss it.

Wishing for Wealth [ ]

Wishing for power [ ], wishing for happiness [ ], wishing for children [ ].

  • Most of the time, when a Sim goes fishing in the well, they are likely to catch sharks. Sometimes, they may catch a deathfish.
  • Teens cannot wish for a Child.
  • Children cannot use the well at all, not even to fish.
  • If the Sim tries to steal from the well, they are more likely to get soaked than find anything.

The Sims 4: Romantic Garden Stuff [ ]

The Whispering Wishing Well is included in The Sims 4: Romantic Garden Stuff . There are 9 different types of wishes, each with 6 outcomes (5 at grades), totaling 53 possible outcomes. [1] The outcomes for each wish range from being overwhelmingly positive, positive, neutral, negative, overwhelmingly negative, and a death outcome. The type of outcome can be recognised by the colour of the visual effects that appear around the wishing Sim; white, green, blue, orange, red or black respectively. The outcome of the wish can be influenced by the emotional state of the wishing well itself, and by the financial offerings Sims make at the well. Each outcome will bestow a unique moodlet on the Sim making the wish, in addition to its effect. There is a cool down period of eight hours between wishes.

The wishing well has a face located on the side of the roof over the well itself. The face of the well depicts the well's emotional state; the well's emotions impact the outcome of a Sim's wish. The more a Sim wishes at the well, the lower the well's mood becomes. However, Sims can make offerings to the wishing well to raise the mood of the well and increase the chance of getting a positive outcome from a wish. The well itself can change its mood depending on outcome given. (Overwhelmingly Positive, Positive, and Neutral outcomes lower its mood, Negative, Overwhelmingly Negative, and Death outcomes increase it)

Romance [ ]

Teen or older Sims can wish for romance, provided they do not already have a soulmate relationship.

Simoleons [ ]

A Sim can wish for Simoleons , as long as there is already at least §1 in household funds to spend for the initial wish.

Happiness [ ]

Any Sim can wish for happiness, improving their mood .

Youthful Vigor [ ]

Any Sim can wish for youthful vigor, bestowing an extension to their lifespan.

Child and Teen Sims can wish for improved grades.

Promotion [ ]

Teen or older Sims who have a career can wish for a promotion.

Young adult or older Sims can wish for a child , as long as there is room in the household.

Any Sim can wish for skills , which can bestow new skills or increases to existing skills.

Note: Overwhelmingly positive and positive added skill points do not check if the Sim already has that skill maxed out or not. If the Sim has ten points in the skill rolled by this wish, the wish is effectively wasted. The more skills are already at ten points, the higher the chance to roll the one already maxed out.

A Ghost Sim will have the unique option of wishing to be restored to life.

Offerings [ ]

Sims can make offerings to the wishing well.

  • §100 - Will lower the well's mood
  • §1,000 - Moderate chances of increasing the well's mood, this chance lowers if this offering is repeated too often
  • §5,000 - Will raise the well's mood

Planetary Defense

Remembering the Chelyabinsk Impact 10 Years Ago, and Looking to the Future

sims 4 ghost child wishing well

On Feb. 15, 2013, the people of Chelyabinsk, Russia, experienced a shocking event, and yet it was a small fraction of the devastation an asteroid on a collision course with Earth could yield. As NASA’s Planetary Defense experts reflect on the Chelyabinsk impact 10 years ago, they also look forward to the future and all that the agency has since accomplished in the field of Planetary Defense.

Harmless meteoroids, and sometimes small asteroids, impact our planet’s atmosphere daily. When they do, they disintegrate and create meteors or “shooting stars” and sometimes bright fireballs or bolides. Such was the case on Feb. 12 when a very small asteroid impacted Earth’s atmosphere over Northern France soon after discovery, resulting in a spectacular light show for local onlookers. Much more rarely, a larger asteroid that is still too small to reach the ground intact, yet large enough to release considerable energy when it disintegrates, can do significant damage to the ground. On Feb. 15, 2013, one such bolide event garnered international attention when a house-sized asteroid impacted Earth’s atmosphere over Chelyabinsk, Russia, at a speed of eleven miles per second and exploded 14 miles above the ground. The explosion was equivalent to 440,000 tons of TNT, and the resulting air blast blew out windows over 200 square miles, damaged buildings, and injured over 1,600 people – mostly due to broken glass. Due to the asteroid’s approach from the daytime sky, it was not detected prior to impact, serving as a reminder that while there are no known asteroid threats to Earth for the next century, an Earth impact by an unknown asteroid could occur at any time.

Coincidentally, negotiations sponsored by the United Nations were finalizing formal recommendations for the establishment of Planetary Defense-related international collaborations – the International Asteroid Warning Network  (IAWN) and the  Space Missions Planning Advisory Group  (SMPAG) – when the Chelyabinsk impact occurred. Since then, NASA established the agency’s  Planetary Defense Coordination Office  (PDCO) in 2016 to oversee and coordinate the agency’s ongoing mission of Planetary Defense. This includes acting as a national representative at international Planetary Defense-related caucuses and forums, such as IAWN and SMPAG, and playing a leading role in coordinating U.S. government planning for response to an actual asteroid impact threat if one were ever discovered. The PDCO also funds observatories around the world through NASA’s Near-Earth Object (NEO) Observations Program to find and characterize NEOs – asteroids and comets that come within 30 million miles of Earth – with a particular focus on finding asteroids 460 feet (140 meters) and larger that represent the most severe impact risks to Earth. To help accelerate its ability to find potentially hazardous NEOs, NASA is also actively developing the agency’s NEO Surveyor mission , which is designed to finish discovery of 90 percent of asteroids 140 meters in size or larger that can come near Earth within a decade of being launched.

In 2022, working together with the Italian Space Agency, NASA’s   Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission successfully demonstrated the world’s first-ever test for deflecting an asteroid’s orbit. Launched in 2021 , DART successfully collided with a known asteroid – which posed no impact threat to Earth – demonstrating one method of asteroid deflection technology using a kinetic impactor spacecraft. Since DART’s impact, Planetary Defense experts have been continuing to analyze data returned from the mission to better understand its demonstrated effects on the asteroid, which contributes to the understanding of how a kinetic impactor spacecraft could be used to address an asteroid impact threat in the future if the need ever arose.

The Chelyabinsk impact was a spark that ignited global conversation in Planetary Defense, and much progress in the field has occurred since then. However, there is still more work to be done, and NASA is actively at the forefront. In addition to building NASA’s NEO Surveyor to find the rest of the population of asteroids that could pose a hazard to Earth, the agency is considering a “rapid response reconnaissance” capability to be able to quickly obtain a more detailed characterization of a hazardous asteroid once it is discovered. NASA is also considering sending out a reconnaissance spacecraft to study an asteroid making a close approach to Earth in 2029.

“A collision of a NEO with Earth is the only natural disaster we now know how humanity could completely prevent” said NASA Planetary Defense Officer Lindley Johnson. “We must keep searching for what we know is still out there, and we must continue to research and test Planetary Defense technologies and capabilities that could one day protect our planet’s inhabitants from a devastating event.”
