One of the greatest pens in the world once linked with one of the most unique beatsmiths ever. Ghostface Killah reveals how he linked with MF DOOM .
As spotted on Hot New Hip Hop Tony Starks had big love for Rap’s only supervillain. In a recent interview with the Rap site he detailed how he came across the late great’s unique sound. To hear Tone tell it his discovery was just as random as DOOM was at times. “I was on Project Rev, with Korn, Snoop, Linkin Park, all these guys,” he said while alluding to the 2004 tour. “I was on the Project Revolution tour with them. So I came across a CD that said Metal Fingers on it. And I never knew who Metal Fingers was. I ain’t know Doom was Metal Fingers.”
The “Camay” rapper went on to discuss how he eventually linked with him. “So I think I might have told my manager like Yo, find this dude Metal Fingers and it winded up being MF Doom,” he continued. “He had beats that I liked to fuck with and that’s how it all came about. We reached out, called him, it was him. I was like oh snap. He came down to the studio and dropped off some beats, we started talking and stuff like that. That was the beginning.”
While he went on to use four of his beats on Fishscale (“9 Milli Bros,” “Clipse Of DOOM,” “Jellyfish,” and “Underwater”) the two didn’t work together in person for that project. “He just dropped off the beats,” he explained. “He just sent beats and I picked him out. I did my own writing but Doom was never there when I laid it down or did this and did that.”
While the two teased at an official joint album, as DOOMSTARKS, they would only release a limited selection of singles. RIP DOOM.

Ghostface Killah Recalls When He Learned Metal Fingers And MF DOOM Were The Same Person
In a recent interview, ghostface killah recalled how a metal fingers beat tape led to him realizing that it was another one of mf doom's aliases..
Fishscale , the beloved fifth solo album from Ghostface Killah , turned 15 over the weekend. His second-highest charting solo album — the first being his debut album Ironman — Fishscale was notable for the production it had, with everyone from MF DOOM and J Dilla to Pete Rock and Just Blaze contributing beats.
In a recent interview with HotNewHipHop , Ghostface recalled how a DOOM beat tape not only led to the late rapper providing production for the album, but led to Ghost realizing that DOOM and Metal Fingers — his producer alias — were the same person. The Wu-Tang member recounted how he came across a Metal Fingers CD while he was on Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution Tour in 2004.
"I never knew who Metal Fingers was. I ain't know DOOM was Metal Fingers," he said. "So I think I might have told my manager like, 'Yo, find this dude Metal Fingers,' and it winded up being MF Doom."
"He had beats that I liked to fuck with and that's how it all came about," he added. "We reached out, called him, it was him. I was like oh snap. He came down to the studio and dropped off some beats, we started talking and stuff like that. That was the beginning."
DOOM ultimately went on to produce four tracks for Fishscale ; the two rappers also came together for "Victory Laps," a collab track they released under the name DOOMSTARKS .

Ghostface Killah Teases ‘DOOMSTARKS’ Album With DOOM
Ghostface Killah posted a fresh new drawing (above) of himself and DOOM on his Facebook page as he continues to stoke the coals under their long-awaited collab album DOOMSTARKS.
Late last year Ghostface let slip that DOOM "wants to drop that [album] in February" but they haven't dropped any new music since "Lively Hood" back in September. This album has been supposed to drop for so long that most people don't want to get their hopes up for a 2016 release.
Back in November DOOM made a rare appearance in a strange video from an undisclosed island about how he's ready to return to music in a big way this year. We still haven't heard anything new from him in 2016 so far, and all he's released in recent times is a limited edition Metalface Villain hat with New Era .
The two have an incredible track record together dating back to "The Mask" from the 2005 DangerDoom LP Mouse & The Mask. In 2009 Ghost hopped on DOOM's Born Like This album for a crazy verse on "Angelz" (the original version without drums is superior) and in 2011 they released an excellent single "Victory Laps," complete with a top-notch Madlib remix .
Fans have been fiending for this album ever since they thought it was called Swift & Changeable and they covered Mass Appeal . Ghostface has also said he's working on putting out Supreme Clientele 2 this year as well, plus an album with Tragedy Khadafi and Killah Priest. We'll be lucky if we see even one of those projects this year, but let's cross our fingers and pray it's DOOMSTARKS.

Ghostface and MF DOOM may have revealed the cover to their joint album
DOOMSTARKS appears to finally be happening.
We’ve been hearing about Ghostface Killah and MF Doom’s collaborative album for years at this point, but recently the pair have given us good reason to expect it soon.
Late last year, Ghostface confirmed that he and Doom plan to release the album — referred to as DOOMSTARKS — in February. Now that we’re in the promised month, Ghostface appears to be making good on the promise by posting this teasing artwork (designed by Digital Death & Grime ) to his Facebook page. Take a look at it below and revisit our Essential Guide on MF Doom .

The late, great MF Doom is universally regarded as one the greatest underground rappers of all time who influenced a wide range of artists – from Radiohead’s Thom Yorke to Tyler, the Creator to Westside Gunn.
In an interview in 2021, a few months after Doom passed, Ghostface Killah revealed that while back, he had a conversation with the masked rapper who told him that Ghost inspired his abstract, stream-of-consciousness rapping style.
The two legendary MCs would go on to collaborate several times over their careers, most notably on the Victory Laps EP and on “Ray Gun” off Ghost’s 2015 collaborative album with BadBadNotGood, Sour Soul .
Ghostface Killah: I didn’t know who MF DOOM was at first. I got a CD during the [2002] Projekt Rev tour with Linkin Park. I put it in, and he had a lot of sounds that I like. So I told Mike, my manager, “Yo, find this dude right here. The Metal Fingers.” It turned out to be MF DOOM. From there, we got together. He came down to the studio and played mad beats. We in there vibing. One thing just led to the next, and he did a bunch of tracks for me. And then we started working on our own stuff, and that was it. I bumped into him a few times out in Europe. One day we were on the plane sitting next to each other, and he said, “You know I got the abstract style from you.” I’m like, “Oh, word?” He’s like, “Yeah, yeah. That’s on the low, though. I got that from you.” When he told me that, it brought me back to “Nutmeg” because everybody was trying to decipher. DOOM came after that, and he had fat beats. He put all that together, and he was in his own lane. Ghostface Killah on the Most Memorable Moments of His Incomparable Career | Vulture
