We went for the daytime paintballing and corn maze and it was fun. Kids did love it very much. A truly excellent and exciting experience for the family.

Lots of scary monsters

Lots of scary monsters and creatures to make you scare you scream. Hayride was easy comparatively. The house was extremely scary. It was longer and more intense on a lights out night.

Wonderful time

It’s been my second time here. It is the same experience but the what I got to see was different this time. Thanks to the team for having given such a wonderful haunt. You have hayride, haunt house, and a day time corn maze and paintballing. Each has its own way of creating a good scare. The set design increases your anticipation and that in itself creates a lot of fear in you.

Keep up the great work!!!

A truly terrifying experience! The hayride and haunt house were about an hour and had terrors lurking in all corners. The hayride was wonderful with exciting scenes throughout. The haunted house with winding corridors and gruesome scenes. Keep up the great work!!!

Props are superb

It was a good show by the crew. We got a free popcorn while waiting in the line. There was food and drink and other entertainment going around as we were waiting. The haunts were great. The hayride was superb. The tractor ride along the rail with so many awesome scenes all around was superb. The actors chased you, try to make you jump out and even have make you laugh. The house was replete with fear. The noises, visuals and the props are superb.

Absolutely terrifying

Not for the fainthearted. The hayride was absolutely terrifying. I had a lot of screaming from the unexpected scares. The haunted house was so scary and interactive. 5 Stars.

A real thrilling venture...

Hayrides, haunt houses and corn mazes are the most common events during the Halloween season. You will find them in almost every attraction. The difference is of course in the kind of scares and the themes used. I can say that this haunt did a good job of creating a lot of difference and it was really great. Scary with a good mix of humor. recommend it to anyone looking for a thrill!

Super disorganized. The haunted house line took 95 minutes and the hayride took 45. If I am going to spend $105 for 3 people, I want to spend more time doing things than standing In slow lines. Not worth it at all.

Photo of Chaochia L.

You'll stay in line if not longer then regular tickets. Owner lied and said line would be faster once instead. NOT TRUE. 2nd.Racist as hell!! We stood in line for 25-30 mins. Paid $45 for fast pass tickets and when we got to the front of the line a "white women blonde medium hair with glasses" came up to us at the front of the line stopped us from going in and yelled in our faces "WHATS YOUR NAME !!! WHAT'S YOUR NAME!!" As WE WERE GOiNG to enter the haunted house. While we stood in line NO ONE else got this kind of treatment. After she yelled at us we asked who she was and what her name was. She ignored us and ran over to the hayride attraction. She Was NOT in costume nor any kind of makeup or uniform. We asked the employee letting people into the haunted house who she was and she refused to tell us. She called over "Shawn" a white bald man in his 40's Who came over to tell us she was an employee here and that's what they do. Yet I proceeded to tell him we stood in line for 25+ mins and heard nothing and saw this happening to no one else. After arguing with him he said to me "do I need to escort you out?" Then the white lady named Becky who yelled at us came running back and said "im Becky I work here" as if she was entitled. Didn't even apologize and ran back to the hayride like some entitled white women she is. This was extremely upsetting for us who paid for the "fast pass" tickets, waited in line for 25+ mins got to the front if the line just to then get confronted by a white middle aged 40 year old women. She yelled at us as if we did not pay for our tickets and weren't supposed to be there. What didn't add up was their excuse was that they ask for names to tell the people in the haunted house. Yet she never went into the haunted house attraction, she went back to the hay ride. Becky the white mid 40's women mid length blonde hair and black glasses and Shawn the mid 40's white bald fat guy. You completely ruined the experience. I'm never visiting this place again. My spouse is white, even he thought this was aggressive and not necessary.

Photo of Kris T.

This attraction is for 13yrs and younger. It wasnt scary and you can barely see the props. The props were small and whole experience was lacking excitement. It went so fast once u wait after 30mins in line.

Photo of Holly H.

Took my daughters whole 12U softball team here along with coaches and the team had a blast!! Some of the girls were very very scared in the haunted house & they did a great job of getting them out right away when they saw the tears & terror on their faces. This was a great team bonding experience & highly recommend. I hate all things scary but was entertained even though I was scared out of my mind. The Hayride was really long which was awesome so you really get your money's worth! I personally thought the corn maze was terrifying because it was pitch black out there. Want to give a huge shout out to the owner--I had bought the wrong tickets online and he was so accommodating to our group to fix my mistake. The concession stand was great & they let me start a tab because we had groups coming out of the haunted house at different times. Highly recommend!!! If you have a team I highly suggest this as a team bonding/break the ice thing to do because we had girls hugging each other, holding hands really looking out for each other making sure they were okay. Great job.

haunted house in cottage grove mn

How is this place even open still? $20 and an hour+ in line for literally 8 minutes of shooting paintball pellets (that don't even open and go splat) at 6 zombies? We were happy because we spent a few hours standing around the fire drinking beer but honestly, the whole event we came for was a joke. That being said, the staff were all really nice :)

Photo of Jenna H.

A fun experience for a haunted house but they charge way too much (~$19) and from year to year it is predictable as to what they will incorporate into their scares. I do appreciate the activities that they have after going through the haunted attraction. My favorite part of going is always the hayride.

Photo of Tee H.

Went here for the Big Zombie Paintball experience found off of Groupon ($20 for two ppl - 100 paint pellets each). Purchased a "fast pass" for an add'l $5 each person but STILL had to wait an HOUR in line. Ride must've last 9 minutes with only 5 zombies to shoot at and we weren't even given 100 paint pellets, it was more like 50 pellets. Such a disappointment and a waste of time. I had more fun going to Applebee's. Do not waste your time!

Photo of Saff E.

Zombie Corn Maze was very disappointing. No zombies, just 6 placards with zombie movies on them to answer the questions. The website is misleading. Also, corn stalks were short, I could see over half of it. Big Zombie Hunter was okay but brief and not scary.

Photo of Brian B.

Haunting Experience is a very food seasonal setup, I was not expecting such a good experience in converted greenhouses. A decent variety of scares and a focus on customer experience rather than throughput. My group did not encountered the group ahead or behind us at any point. The haunted house exits to a waiting area for a hayride, this was the best hayride haunt I have encountered. Zombie paintball is not the best it could be but it has an attractive price point and is a nice addition to the haunt, I would not go exclusively for this.

Photo of Ethan B.

So I figured I go half on this one for one reason. The zombie paintball was a complete waste of money. The haunted house portion of the experience was fantastic! Really nice decor and great people to act. It left my wife clutching my arm until it was losing feeling. The zombie paintball was 15 dollars, which is a complete waste of time and money. I asked how many shots we were allowed and the supervisor said that we got 100 shots. I counted my shots and I only has 34 shots and they weren't even paintballs, they were hard plastic balls that really should not be fired out of a standard tippman. I watched my wife's gun constantly spraying paint because the balls kept getting broken when fired. And the balls that did manage to come out did nothing but bounce off everything because of the hard plastic shell. After what seemed no more than 10 minutes the whole thing was over. Next year either make the zombie paintball course longer with more legitimate paintballs, or simply reduce the price so no one feels like they were robbed blindly.

Police: Bodies of 8 dogs found on Grey Cloud Island in Cottage Grove

An investigation is underway in Cottage Grove after eight dogs were found dead Sunday afternoon.

Cottage Grove Police say an officer found the dogs around 12:30 p.m. in the tree line along Grey Cloud Island Drive South near Grey Cloud Trail South. The spot is between a large culvert and the bridge on Grey Cloud Island.

All of the dogs were smaller breeds, including at least one Schnauzer, police say. The dogs are believed to have ranged in age from puppies to adults.

Authorities say no one has claimed the pets nor were there any collars or identifiers.

The Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley says they will be performing the necropsy, which is the autopsy for dogs. Police expect to get an update on the results this week.

It’s still uncertain whether the dogs died in the city of Cottage Grove. Police say whoever committed the crime could face felony charges.

“We really realize that this evokes quite a bit of an emotional response from people,” said Cottage Grove Community Engagement Officer Dan Shoen. “We don’t know the full details yet but what I do know is if people can’t take care of their animals, please don’t’ do this. We have people that want to help you and want to take your animals.”

Police add they believe the dogs weren’t left there long before the officer found them and are asking anyone in the area who saw a vehicle stopped around that time to contact Officer Tou Vue at 651-458-6052 or by emailing [email protected] . Tipsters can remain anonymous.

The Animal Humane Society is helping police in the investigation.

Neighbor complaints doom haunted house on lowry in northeast minneapolis.

A popular Halloween attraction in northeast Minneapolis that has been delivering frights and screams for two decades won't open this year.

The family that has run the Haunted House on Lowry said complaints from passive-aggressive neighbors about traffic led to the decision to skip 2023, and they may not ever bring it back.

Mark Lazarchic said he made a social media post and a few people decided to use it against him, souring him on the notion to keep the tradition going.

"They said neighbors complained for years," Lazarchic said in an interview. "Nobody ever talked to me in a negative way about it."

haunted house in cottage grove mn

The Lazarchics, who dub themselves the First Family of Halloween, started small with just a few Halloween decorations. Then a guy in the neighborhood opened a walk-through display and "my competitive nature took over," Mark Lazarchic said. "I want something bigger than that."

From those first few decorations, the display grew into the spectacle filling the entire yard at 1607 Lowry Avenue NE. Lazarchic spent thousands of dollars to "buy tons of stuff," enough to fill a semitrailer. He built tunnels and even cut down a tree and left a 10-foot trunk to hang a pumpkin head and a body.

"We just kept making it bigger and bigger," he said.

At 55, Lazarchic said he's feeling the mileage of all the set up and tear down. Over the past 10 years, he hired a crew to help. But they were not available this year.

"You can't just call in volunteers," Lazarchic said. "Nobody knows where stuff goes. It's more than just manpower."

It's also getting expensive. It costs about $3,000 a year for the display, even more if he buys new items or replaces pieces that break or wear out.

But it was the complaints that seemed to cinch the decision not to open this year

"If people want to complain, I won't do it," Lazarchic said. "We will see what it's like when it's not going. My house will be a lot more relaxed in October."

Others said they will feel the void.

"This is very sad news," wrote Kat Jannister. "You are a tradition in this neighborhood. Thank you for all the years of entertainment. We hope to see you come back."

As for that, the Lazarchic made no promises.

It kind of a downer," Lazarchic said. "Maybe next year. I might talk to businesses to sponsor it," he said.
