No Matter How Hard They Try, There's No Replacing Jason Hawes on 'Ghost Hunters'
What happened to the original cast of 'Ghost Hunters'? Fans worry Grant Wilson and Jason Hawes had a falling out.
Apr. 20 2020, Updated 2:44 p.m. ET
The 13th season of Ghost Hunters premieres on April 8, marking its second straight year airing on A&E. But once again, only one of the reality series’ original cast members is returning for the latest batch of episodes.
Grant Wilson , co-founder of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS), serves as lead investigator alongside Ghost Mine alum Kristen Luman. The father of three initially left the show in 2012, but was asked to join the reboot, which debuted last summer.
However, Grant’s business partner, Jason Hawes , has been noticeably absent from the revival, and fans miss the duo’s friendly banter. Is there bad blood between the former co-stars?
What happened to the original cast of 'Ghost Hunters'?
For eight seasons, Jason and Grant explored haunted buildings together on the supernatural docuseries — so naturally, the latter’s sudden exit eight years ago left viewers rattled.
"It is with mixed emotion that I am announcing my departure from the cast of Ghost Hunters ," Grant, 45, said at the time. "While paranormal investigating has always been and will remain a passion for me… I have made the decision to leave the series in order to focus on other aspects of my personal life."
The Rhode Island native added, "I will deeply miss working with Jason and the rest of the dedicated investigators and crew that have become like family, and I wish them all the best as they continue to follow their passion and realize the vision of TAPS. I will also miss interacting with our wonderful fans worldwide."
In response to Grant’s statement, Jason noted that the pair would remain in each other’s lives. "Grant and I, along with our spouses and children, are all like one big family," he shared.
"While I fully support his decision to move on from the series, this longtime friendship — as well as our business partnership — will continue off-camera for years to come."
But despite the duo’s assurance that they remained committed to their joint ventures, the colleagues put their shared New Hampshire property, the Spalding Inn, on the market just one year after Grant quit Ghost Hunters .
Jason Hawes now hosts the paranormal show 'Ghost Nation'.
In 2019, the 48-year-old signed on to star in the Travel Channel series, which reunites him with Ghost Hunters ’ old tech managers Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango. The trio has since formed the United Paranormal Research Organization, or UPRO.
In the three-year hiatus between his two TV gigs, Jason explained that his focus was on his family. "I've been spending a lot of time with the kids, being very involved in their football and in their wrestling," the producer told ComicBook.com in October.
After rejecting 40-some-odd offers to do another show, Jason said he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with Discovery, Inc., who allowed him to bring Steve and Dave on board.
"I was the initial person that was asked to do the reboot of Ghost Hunters , and I turned that down because [A&E] wanted to recast the team," Jason revealed. "Steve and Dave, they've been with me forever and we're a big family, and I have the utmost trust and faith in them and their knowledge."

A fresh Rolling Stones album, a revealing documentary on spy novelist John le Carré and “Living for the Dead,” a new Hulu series that’s like “Queer Eye” meets “Ghost Hunters” are some of the new television, movies, music and games headed to a device near you
Among the offerings worth your time as selected by The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists are comedian Heather McMahan’s first network comedy special called “The Son I Never Had” and Nida Manzoor’s rollicking action-comedy movie “Polite Society.”
NEW MOVIES TO STREAM — John le Carré, whose birth name was David Cornwell, died in 2020. But before his death, the author of “The Spy Who Came in From the Cold” and “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” sat down with documentarian Errol Morris for a series of probing interviews. The result, “The Pigeon Tunnel,” is one of the non-fiction highlights of the movie year. In the film, which stream Friday, Oct. 20 on Apple TV+, Cornwell discusses his career as a spy, his books and historical truth in a fittingly murky, noir-tinged documentary about one of the 20th century’s greatest writers.
— DreamWorks Animation’s “Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken” is about a 15-year-old with a secret. Ruby (voiced by Lana Condor) and her family are sea creatures who are passing as humans on land. Ruby is, in fact, not just an aquatic mammal, but one of the mightiest of all, a Kraken. Director Kirk DeMicco’s film, which begins streaming Friday on Peacock following a theatrical run this summer, is a coming-of-age tale with monsters, mermaids and overprotective moms (Toni Collette). In his review, AP’s Mark Kennedy praised it as “a tale of generational sisterhood with the message to not hide your difference.”
— Nida Manzoor’s “Polite Society,” is a coming-of-age tale, too, but a much different beast. In the directorial debut of the “We Are Lady Parts” creator, Priya Kansara and Ritu Arya play British-Pakistani sisters with divergent dreams. Ria (Kansara) pines to be a stuntwoman. Lena (Arya) has fading artistic hopes that are fast being consumed by an arranged marriage to (Akshay Khanna). Ria sets out to spoil their parents’ plans in a rollicking action-comedy that, as I wrote in my review , “marries Jane Austen with kung-fu flare.” It begins streaming Tuesday on Prime Video.

NEW MUSIC TO STREAM — What was the music world before Cheryl “Salt” James, Sandra “Pepa” Denton and Deidra “DJ Spinderella” Roper became Salt-N-Pepa ? Tracking their legacy is much simpler: Salt-N-Pepa’s no-nonsense femininity and agency, coupled with their activism and unabashed sexuality, opened the floodgates for all that followed. So, this year, celebrating both 50 years of hip-hop and the 30th anniversary of Salt-N-Pepa’s famed fourth studio album, Universal Music Group is re-releasing “Very Necessary” with bonus tracks, alternative mixes and beyond. Streaming this one is a no brainer — and for the record, “Shoop” hits every bit as hard in 2023 as it did in 1993.
— Last month, The Rolling Stones announced they were preparing to release their first album of original material in 18 years, since 2005’s “A Bigger Bang.” Come Friday, October 20, the wait is over. “Hackney Diamonds,” is the Stones’ first new record since the death of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021. (His drumming is included posthumously and poignantly on two of the album’s 12 tracks.) It is also their best in decades, a multigenerational affair produced by the pop-rock mastermind Andrew Watt (with credits including Post Malone, Justin Bieber) and featuring guest appearances from the likes of Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder. Their rock ‘n’ roll vitality is as present as ever — there’s no interest in rehashing the past, rather, “Hackney Diamonds” is a joyful experiment, full of swagger.

NEW SERIES TO STREAM — “Living for the Dead,” a new Hulu series executive produced and narrated by Kristen Stewart, is like “Queer Eye” meets “Ghost Hunters.” It follows a group of five queer ghost hunters who travel to haunted locations and use their individual skills to confront the spirits and clear the space. There’s Ken, who specializes in tarot, Juju the spiritual expert, Logan the psychic, a researcher named Roz and Alex who does the ghost hunting. The series debuts Wednesday
— Comedian Heather McMahan debuts her first network comedy special called “The Son I Never Had” on Tuesday. If you haven’t followed McMahan, she’s got a popular podcast called “Absolutely Not” and a hilarious Instagram account that caught on during the pandemic, and led to sold-out comedy dates. McMahan’s schtick is both relatable and outrageous.
— The sweet and smart comedy “Upload” is back on Prime Video for a third season. Created by Greg Daniels (“The Office”), the series takes place in the (near) future where one can opt to be uploaded to a virtual afterlife. The more money you have, the better the second life is. It stars Robbie Amell, a computer programmer, who was uploaded in season one — and falls for his still-living digital concierge, Nora (Andy Allo.) The first two episodes drop Friday, Oct. 20.
— Detective Harry Bosch returns in the second season of “Bosch: Legacy” on FreeVee on Friday, Oct. 20. Bosch was originally introduced by author Michael Connelly in his books and adapted for TV. He’s now retired from the LAPD, solving cases as a private investigator.
— Alicia Rancilio
NEW VIDEO GAMES TO PLAY — Two iconic characters who have recently become movie stars are returning to the medium that made them famous: the 2-D, side-scrolling, running-and-jumping game. First up is Sonic the Hedgehog with Sonic Superstars . It’ll look familiar to anyone who grew up in the 1990s with the Sega Genesis, with the furry speed demon hurtling through loop-the-loops, caroming off springs and collecting gold rings. Sonic bounces back Tuesday on PlayStation 5/4, Xbox X/S/One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Three days later, everyone’s favorite plumber, Mario, returns with Super Mario Bros. Wonder . Expect plenty of the block-breaking, mushroom-eating, warp-pipe-traveling antics that put Nintendo on the map in the 1980s. Plus, Mario can turn into an elephant. This one’s exclusive to the Switch, starting Friday, Oct. 20.
— Speaking of multimedia legends, your friendly neighborhood web-slinger is back with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 . It’s actually Insomniac Games’ third crack at the character, after separate adventures starring alter egos Peter Parker and Miles Morales. This time the two Spideys are teaming up to battle notorious villains like Venom, Kraven the Hunter and The Lizard. If you enjoyed swinging between Manhattan’s skyscrapers in the previous games, get ready for an even bigger map, now including Queens and Brooklyn. And you can use your web shooters to create underarm “web wings,” which let you soar across spaces that don’t have tall buildings. Do whatever a spider can starting Friday, Oct. 20, on PlayStation 5.

Ghost Hunters: Back on the Hunt
The countdown begins! In the hour before the much-anticipated launch of the all-new Ghost Hunters, the cast gathers to answer an avalanche of fan questions, giving viewers a chance to get to know the elite squad of paranormal investigators. This new team been carefully selected for the next installment of this historic series. The leader is none other than co-founding member Grant Wilson, who has been lured out of retirement by a dramatic spike in reports of paranormal activity. Viewers will hear about the latest gear, learn the essential terms and types of hauntings as well as getting the inside scoop on how the pros investigate the spirit world. The new crew will also revisit the greatest moments in Ghost Hunters history, asking Grant everything they ever wanted to know about his classic past probes.
School Spirit
The Ghost Hunters are back! Original founding member, Grant Wilson, returns with a new team of investigators. In their very first case, Grant is contacted by the principal of a century-old high school in Pocatello, Idaho that has long been rumored to be haunted. During her tenure, the principal has dismissed many of these rumors as mere urban legends. However, when the school’s security cameras capture an unexplained electrical disturbance followed by what appears to be a ghostly apparition in the hallway, she begins to fear there may be some truth to the local legends. Might Pocatello High School truly be haunted? Or is there some other explanation? The Ghost Hunters are on the case to investigate.
The Lady in the Window
The team travels to Albion, NY to help a home renovator whose dream project now has him living inside a nightmare. After being mysteriously drawn to a sprawling estate in ruins, Tony spent the past 12 years restoring the crumbling property to its former mid-19th century glory. As he diligently worked to complete his vision, paranormal activity and a chilling photograph of an apparition in the attic window led Tony to decide it was time to move on. Now he’s convinced that something or someone doesn’t want to let him go. Then, Grant and his team spring into action as they learn about a tale of warring wives and tragic death on the property that has them believing the home may be haunted by one of its former matriarchs. Will they find the answers the homeowner needs? Or will they uncover a spirit’s secret agenda that will change his life forever?

Return to St. Augustine
The team comes to the aid of a woman in Hanover, PA, who has been tortured for years by unexplained activity in her home. After repeatedly getting scratched and even being thrown down the stairs, Deanna and her husband, Tom, have finally decided to flee their home for good. But before she leaves, Deanna needs closure, and it’s up to the Ghost Hunters to bring it to her. Then, Grant returns to the St. Augustine Lighthouse, site of some of the most compelling paranormal evidence ever captured in Ghost Hunters history when the team is summoned to investigate a reported increase in paranormal activity, both in and around the undeniably haunted landmark. Is paranormal activity at St. Augustine truly heating up? Or is the Lighthouse’s haunted reputation merely activating the imaginations of staff and visitors?
Beyond the Investigation
Ever wonder what you didn’t see in those famous Ghost Hunters investigations? In this one-hour special, Team Leader Grant Wilson gives viewers an exclusive inside look at how the squad goes above and beyond to search for paranormal activity while deliberately debunking claims with a logical explanation. This is a must-see for anyone interested in the bigger picture of each paranormal investigation, from claim to conclusion.
The Cursed Castle
When Jimmy’s father built the castle of his dreams, he didn’t know it would one day turn into a nightmare! The stately hotel was once a famous retreat, offering its visitors the perfect weekend escape. Unfortunately, these days, many guests and staff have found themselves seeking escape from a variety of spirits! After a flurry of recent activity, owners Jimmy and Shayla Landoll’s nerves are frayed. Fearing for the safety of their staff and guests, not to mention their family, the couple reaches out to Grant and the Ghost Hunters for help. The team discovers that there is a history of destructive fires on the property and Daryl enlists the help of a forensic sketch artist in hopes of identifying the mysterious “woman in white” encountered by several staff members.
There's Something in the Seminary
Grant and the team travel to the nearly 200-year-old Madison Seminary in Madison, Ohio to help an enterprising amateur ghost hunter who got more than he bargained for when he purchased the former women’s psychiatric hospital. After witnessing aggressive paranormal activity and a sudden rise in fear and discord among his staff, the new owner is now afraid his popular ghost tours may no longer be safe for the public. Upon hearing disturbing stories about the seminary’s alleged dark history, the team sets out to uncover the cause of recent paranormal unrest on the property.
Dancing with the Dead
The Athenaeum is a cultural center that has stood proudly in the heart of Indianapolis, Indiana for over a hundred years. Ironically, when the Ghost Hunters arrive at this prodigious location, it’s in the building’s history that Mustafa uncovers a story that turns the investigation upside down. Dr. Knabe, a trailblazing female doctor who met a grisly end in the early 20th century, is linked to this building. She was violently murdered in her apartment just two blocks from The Athenaeum and afterward there were countless reports of people seeing her appear around the storied halls of the cultural center. After night one yields very little results, Grant resorts to a never before used tactic in hopes of drawing out Dr. Knabe and any other entities that may still be haunting their beloved cultural center. Will this crazy stunt actually work?
Suicide Hotel
Grant and the team journey to the Original Springs Hotel in Okawville, Illinois after receiving an urgent call for help from a man named Jeremy, the hotel owner’s son. Reports of specter sightings and unexplained activity, combined with the resort’s remarkably morbid history, have Jeremy concerned for the safety of his mother, Mary. Three of the four previous owners of the hotel have committed suicide and Jeremy is afraid his mother may be number four. Kristen and Daryl are baffled when they clearly hear footsteps above them while investigating the top floor, while Brandon and Mustafa make a surprising discovery that sheds new light on all their findings.
Home for the Haunting
Grant and the team come to the aid of a single mother, Susan, and her young son who are afraid that spirits in their turn-of-the-century Victorian house in Willimantic, CT may be a threat to their safety. Could the haunting be the original builder and owner of the home who passed away in the house decades ago? Or is something more sinister? Meanwhile, Kristen experiences strange phenomena while investigating claims of a child’s voice in an upstairs bedroom. Following night one, Grant is fairly certain he knows what’s going on and devises an innovative tactic requiring a choreographed effort by the entire team to test his theory. Will the team manage to pull it off and get Susan and her son the answers they need?
You've Been Warned
Harry Sharp was once proud owner of “The Duff Green Mansion” in Vicksburg, Mississippi, which he operated as a bed and breakfast. For decades, Harry observed all kinds of strange paranormal activity at the mansion. So, upon selling the estate to his best friend, Harley Caldwell, he has done his best to warn her, but she simply does not believe in ghosts. Worried that his friend is unprepared for the encounters she may face, Harry calls the Ghost Hunters for help. Vicksburg is notorious for serving as the site one of the Civil War’s bloodiest battles, and the mansion was used as a hospital for both Union and Confederate soldiers. Shadow figures have been seen, doors slam on their own, and over 100 guests have witnessed the apparition of a confederate soldier sitting while clutching his own amputated leg. Grant and the team invite two guest investigators to join them in hopes their presence may help evoke a response from the alleged resident entities.
Blood on the Bayou
The Ghost Hunters head down south to Louisiana to help a woman who is worried that the sugar cane plantation that has been in her family since after the Civil War, may literally be haunted by its troubled past. With countless deaths on the property over the plantation’s 200-year history, the list of spirits that may be present at the large estate is seemingly endless. Maureen has fond memories of growing up at the St. Joseph plantation, but recent sightings of a bloody apparition now have her and her staff petrified. Could it be the ghost of a former plantation doctor well-known for performing gruesome surgeries? Grant and the team investigate the expansive 2500-acre estate, from the huge mansions to the former “slave shacks.” Since the plantation has never been investigated before, Grant employs a special technique to help build trust with any intelligent entities.
Hospital Horror
Growing up in the small town of Pampa, Texas, cousins Luke and Chelsea always wanted to start a business together. When the iconic Worley Hospital went up for sale after sitting abandoned for 44 years, they decided it would be the ideal site for a new bed and breakfast. However, after pouring their life savings into it, their plans came to a screeching halt as strange things began to happen soon after starting renovations. With Luke and Chelsea’s livelihood on the line, Grant and the team agree to help out by investigating alleged sightings of shadow figures and multiple reports of paralyzing feelings of dread that permeate throughout the hospital. The team detects what appears to be skittish entities, but fail to make contact, so they decide to try an unconventional tactic to help stir up activity.

Grant Wilson Speaks out After 'Ghost Hunters' Gets Revival Treatment With Discovery+
After getting an initial revival in 2019 on A&E, Ghost Hunters has made the move to discovery+ [...]
By Tania Hussain - May 20, 2021 03:23 pm EDT
After getting an initial revival in 2019 on A&E, Ghost Hunters has made the move to discovery+ with three of the original members of the Syfy paranormal hit now turned former investigators of Travel Channel's Ghost Nation . In a press release from Discovery on Tuesday, the mega-hit paranormal investigation series was greenlighted for a comeback with Jason Hawes , Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango for its streaming platform discovery+. The three will return with their Ghost Nation co-investigator, Shari DeBenedetti.
The news was surprising to fans, many of whom took to social media confused over the sudden revival of the series, which ran for two seasons on A&E alongside original team leader Grant Wilson and a new crew of investigators, including Kristen Luman , Daryl Marston , Mustafa Gatollari , Brandon Alvis , Richel Stratton and Brian Murray . Wilson spoke out about the matter Wednesday afternoon, informing fans he is not a part of the new rendition and that the show was "sold" to discovery+ with the team from Ghost Nation .
Hey, all! If you didn’t know by now, Ghost Hunters was sold to Discovery+ but with the team from Ghost Nation. I was not involved in this transaction nor am I a part of the new rendition. I wish them much success with it! — Grant Wilson (@grantswilson) May 19, 2021
This past January, Gatollari shared an update with PopCulture about the future of the series , admitting he and the other investigators were getting a lot of questions from fans about Season 3. "So much of that is up in the air," the New Jersey native said at the time. "It doesn't look like A&E is pursuing paranormal programming anymore, but we've never stopped our research or our work."
A year into the pandemic and Gatollari with fellow investigator Alvis are making sure they continue their investigations with a brand new YouTube series called Formula of a Haunting . Created by the pair to help further the field by analyzing potential evidence of the paranormal and disproving false positives, Gatollari says the series was a way for him to continue studying unexplained phenomena and share their unique techniques with fans.
As for the revived Ghost Hunters team, they will be back into the field next month per the network with Hawes, Gonsalves and Tango, along with DeBenedetti "taking back the paranormal reins in epic haunted locations" while teasing familiar faces and special guests will join investigations for the all-new version of the series. The 13 one-hour episodes will begin streaming later this year on discovery+.
In a statement from Travel Channel's general manager, Matthew Butler, the Pilgrim Media Group producer series is looking to bring back a dose of nostalgia to the pioneering franchise. "Fans are obsessed with the Paranormal & Unexplained hub on the new streaming platform," Butler said. "Bringing back Ghost Hunters with their favorite cast members is a thrill. And fans who want to remember why this show is a classic can watch seasons from the original series — they are available now on discovery+."

As the owners prepare to renovate, they called in TAPS to make sure they aren't disturbing any spirits in their modernization of the arts center.

The staff contacted TAPS to find out if the ghosts are malevolent or if it's safe for them to keep working there. The library was once used as a temporary morgue for the bodies found after a hurricane swept through the state.
Haunted By Heroes (8.3)
TAPS sets out on a mission to help the crew of the USS Yorktown in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina find out if the paranormal activity they are experiencing is from the souls of former Navy and Air Force members. If TAPS can help them find out who these fallen heroes are, then the current crew can do something to honor their memories. With 141 men lost to the USS Yorktown over its history, it's likely that at least some of the supernatural phenomena the crew experiences come from that.
Dancing With The Dead (8.4)
The crew visits The Athenaeum, a cultural center located in Indianapolis, Indiana that has stood there for over 100 years. Mustafa discovers that Dr. Knabe, a female physician who died horrifically two blocks away from the building, is connected with it. Many have reported seeing her ghost haunting the halls of the cultural center, but the gang's first night in the building is quiet. Grant decides to try a new tactic the crew has never used before to entice the ghost. The new strategy might also call out the spirits of others that aren't Dr. Knabe.
The Lady In The Window (8.4)
The owner of the Pillars Estate in Albion, New York claims a great deal of spiritual activity is taking place on the grounds. The estate's owner reports pianos playing on their own and seeing ghostly figures on the bed. Photos taken throughout the years have shown a mysterious woman in the house's window. The TAPS team first tries to prove such photos can't be real but has a hard time explaining some other creepy activity in the estate. Still, they managed to prove at least one photo was a fake.
Haunted Hospital (8.4)
The TAPS team investigates the Galena Marine Hospital built in Illinois in 1857 and said to be deeply haunted due to the countless deaths within the hospital's walls. The hospital was recently purchased when the episode aired in 2020 as the current owner calls in the Ghost Hunters for help as there have been claims of distressing paranormal activity in the building from hearing heavy footsteps to seeing shadow figures.
Alone In Alaska (8.5)
The TAPS team travels to Haines, Alaska to investigate the small town that many died in while searching for gold in the Klondike region in 1896 and 1899. There were deaths in the small town due to starvation, weather conditions, and more malicious violent conflicts. They stay at an old military outpost, that was created to help stop the violence, but has since been turned into a hotel.
Haunted Lighthouse (8.6)
Jason and Grant visit the legendary St. Augustine Lighthouse in Florida. There are several spirits attached to the historical site, from a lighthouse keeper who committed suicide in the building to the ghost of a little girl who runs around the premises.
RELATED: 15 Scariest Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural Episodes
Whether it's visitors or employees who report on the ghost activity, there are enough sightings to make the TAPS team excited about visiting the eighth tallest lighthouse in the oldest city in the United States. The lighthouse's tragic history adds to the haunting atmosphere.
Hospital Horror (8.6)
Luke and Chelsea Dyer call the Ghost Hunters team in to help after they purchase the Worley Hospital in Texas. The cousins are planning to achieve their dream and open a bed and breakfast at the location, but they have to put their plans on hold when strange occurrences begin to happen from the appearances of shadow figures to a paralyzing feeling of dread in some areas of the building.
Nightmare Camp (8.6)
The Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts Camp in Northern Colorado has reported strange paranormal activity for years and the Ghost Hunters travel there to do the first official investigation into the activity. The Glenn Family Curse (8.7)

Proof Of Afterlife (8.9)
The TAPS team travels to Fort Stanton in New Mexico, a military outpost that was active in the 19th century but has since been turned into a historical landmark. There have been odd paranormal occurrences reported from the site since the 1940s. Ghost Hunters Return To Waverly Hills (8.9)
Grant returns to the site and brings the new team to the extremely haunted Waverly Hills Sanatorium as the new owners in 2020 have heard of reports of indescribably terrifyingly loud and bone-chilling screams and mysterious unexplained sounds throughout the building. 200th Episode: Grant Is Back (9.0)
The new team welcomes back original Ghost Hunter Grant Wilson and they all revisit the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, West Virginia. Ghost Hunters Season 14: Release Date, Cast And New Details

From the moment it debuted on the Syfy Channel back in 2004, "Ghost Hunters" has made an entire subculture seem, well, less uncool. The show featured a group of relatively attractive young people using high-tech equipment to search for ghosts in the spookiest places in the world. From that moment on, audiences began to view ghost hunters in a more favorable light (though, given their profession, they've never been immune to skepticism). Since the debut of "Ghost Hunters," other shows, like "Ghost Adventures" and "Paranormal State," have attempted to compete with the original ghost hunting show, per The Wrap .
"Ghost Hunters" was created by Craig Piligian, who founded Pilgrim Studios, which is behind other original television shows like " American Chopper " and "Dirty Jobs." In 2013, Piligian told CNN that he was inspired to create "Ghost Hunters" after reading an article in the New York Times about Roto-Rooter plumbers who also offered house calls to fix "paranormal disturbances" on the side. "The same qualities they used to fix a leaky pipe they used in their work to debunk whether or not a place was haunted," Piligian told CNN. "It was almost mechanical in nature, and not so much voodoo." It was this approach that inspired Piligian to approach each alleged haunting in a more "scientific" way.
The show has remained popular for more than a dozen seasons. This is what we know about the upcoming 14th season.
Season 14 will debut on Halloween
Fittingly enough, the 14th season of "Ghost Hunters" will be premiering exclusively on Discovery+ on Halloween (October 31). For the first time since 2016 when he left to form "Ghost Nation," the show's original team leader, Jason Hawes, will be returning to star on the show.
A sneak peek of what's to come in the upcoming season has been posted to the show's official website, promising that the season will be chock full of authentic paranormal encounters (via Ghost Hunters ). "This is the revival of the series that started it all. Discovery+ has given the green light to the iconic series, Ghost Hunters," a Discovery press release stated, per Comic Book . "Original team leader Jason Hawes and Steve Gonsalves, Dave Tango, and Shari DeBenedetti are taking back the paranormal reins in epic haunted locations. And don't be surprised to see some familiar faces and special guests join the team on the hunt in this all-new version of the hit series. The 13 one-hour episodes will begin streaming later this year on Discovery+."
Many familiar faces will be returning for the show's 14th season
As the 14th season's promotional video stated, the upcoming season will feature Jason Hawes, the founder of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) and star of "Ghost Nation," as the leader involved in every paranormal investigation (via Ghost Hunters ). Hawes will be accompanied by his team of paranormal investigators, which includes Steve Gonsalves, Dave Tango, and Shari DeBenedetti.
When "Ghost Hunters" first premiered, it featured both Hawes and Grant Wilson, who took over as the leader of the team when Hawes left to pursue his own artistic endeavors in 2016. The casting switch-ups over the years, which seem to always result in the pair not appearing together on the show, have sparked rumors that Hawes and Wilson are feuding.
Under a comment posted on Hawes' most recent Instagram post about his return to "Ghost Hunters," he revealed why he was returning in Wilson's place in Season 14. "Grant was not fired," Hawes said in a comment . "He chose to do a show when the network didn't want the entire team. I chose the team first and refused to do a show without them. Loyalty first for me."
Other special guests are slated to make an appearance on the show's 14th season, though their identities have yet to be revealed.
New details about Discovery's spooky and bingeable content
Though Halloween is more than two weeks away, Discovery's impressive roster of spooky shows on Food Network, HGTV, and Travel Channel will likely keep viewers entertained long after the end of autumn. Throughout the month of October, aside from "Ghost Hunters" Season 14, viewers can indulge in other spooky, seasonal treats like "Halloween Baking Championship," "Halloween Wars," "Ghost Adventures: Goldfield Hotel," "Outrageous Pumpkins," "Jack and Kelly Osbourne: Night of Terror," and more, according to a Discovery, Inc press release.
"We combined the ghost-themed series and specials from Food Network and HGTV with Travel Channel's compelling content to curate an incredible season of scary, fun, and bingeable shows across platforms," Kathleen Finch, chief lifestyle brands officer of Discovery, Inc. said in the press release. "With stars like Anthony Anderson, Zak Bagans, Doris Bowman, Alyson Hannigan, Jack and Kelly Osbourne and director Eli Roth bringing the creative for these series and specials to life, fans of Halloween can watch scary stories and visual treats all month long."
Get your fill of the latest season of "Ghost Hunter" by tuning into Discovery+ on Halloween.

‘Werewolf by Night in Color’ – Watch the Bloody Trailer for Marvel’s Halloween Treat

One of the highlights of this year’s Halloween celebration from Disney+ is the return of Marvel Studios’ special Werewolf by Night , which claws its way back into our lives in FULL COLOR.
The Disney+ Halloween special was unleashed last year in black & white, giving it a classic horror throwback feel. This will be the first time you’ll be able to watch the special in color.
Werewolf by Night in Color premieres Friday, October 20 , only on Disney+.
Now presented in vibrant color, Marvel Studios’ Werewolf by Night in Color takes place on a dark and somber night as a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader.
Marvel previews, “In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic—a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster. Inspired by horror films of the ’30s and ’40s, the chilling special aims to evoke a sense of dread and the macabre, with plenty of suspense and scares along the way as we explore a new corner of the Marvel Universe.”
Meagan Navarro wrote here on BD last year, “ The MCU kicked the horror into overdrive with Werewolf by Night . The nearly hour-long feature presents as a classic horror movie, dropping viewers into the middle of a secret world of monster hunters. Film composer Michael Giacchino directs the special, penned by Heather Quinn and Peter Cameron . Giacchino focuses on evoking the classic horror vibe to assist in the initial worldbuilding. The events play out in monochrome, save for the vibrant red glow of the Bloodstone. Cigarette burns and film grain get added for that retro look. The rules of the hunt get relayed to the cutthroat candidates by way of reanimated dead, albeit in a much campier and family-friendly way via animatronics.”
“Aside from the aesthetics, Werewolf leans heavily into the mysterious,” Meagan continued. “The black and white cinematography more than sets the retro vibe; it allows the feature to remain accessible to a wider audience even as it lets its monsters and monster hunters spill plenty of blood. Toss in a Jack Pierce-inspired beast with practical application, and you’ve got a modern superhero story with a classic Universal Monsters makeover.”
