The Sims 4: Who Is the Night Wraith?
There's a hauntingly ghoulish spirit in The Sims 4 that magical Sims might find themselves cursed with if one of their spells happens to fail.
The Sims 4 is not inherently a scary game. If anything, the series tends to add a goofy edge to many of its horror elements . This certainly works out for the mood that The Sims strives for, but it also makes the actual scary moments that much more surprising. Between ominous phone calls in The Sims to the haunting mysteries behind some of the game's NPCs , there's a surprising number of spooky secrets hidden in the life simulator franchise.
With the addition of the Realm of Magic expansion pack, The Sims 4 reintroduced spells and curses into the proceedings. Magic's been a common theme for many expansion packs over the years and is almost always a very powerful skill for Sims to learn. Magic in The Sims 4 is no exception, though Realm of Magic has attempted to curve the power of spellcasting every so slightly. Curses are debuffs that can greatly impact a Sim's life, with one particular curse standing out from the rest.

What the Curse of the Night Wraith Is in The Sims 4
One Curse that can afflict Sims is known as the Curse of the Night Wraith. The immediately obvious downsides are that a Sim's energy level will drastically drop, and they won't be able to fall asleep, leaving the Sim permanently exhausted. The description of the Curse implies that the inability to sleep is because they're being stalked by a mysterious figure. Players likely won't notice anything like that at first and assume that the game is simply providing an explanation as to why the Sim can't sleep.
However, when night falls, players might notice a haunting figure appearing on their lots. This is the Night Wraith -- the mysterious figure to which the Curse's description alludes. The Night Wraith is a ghost who appears to have died from old age. They have a ghoulishly gaunt face and glowing eyes, the latter being a unique visual effect exclusive to the Night Wraith. While the Sim is afflicted with the Curse, there's a chance that the Night Wraith will appear every night.

What We Know About The Sims 4's Night Wraith
There's not a lot known about the Night Wraith. As previously mentioned, the ghost's gray color implies that they died of old age. However, the actual cause of death is always uniquely listed as "Night Wraith," thanks to an exclusive trait that can't be added to Sims without cheats. This trait is appropriately called "Night Wraith," and it's what gives the specter its glowing eyes and cloudy aura. Another interesting fact about the character is that they're permanently sad.
The Night Wraith will always have mean and dastardly traits, though they'll also have one randomly selected trait. If somehow the Night Wraith NPC is removed from the game, a new Night Wraith will manifest in its place. Curiously enough, the NPC also suffers from the Curse of Repulsiveness, which turns their skin green and causes Sims who look at the Night Wraith to vomit. Outside that basic information, there isn't a lot of lore known about the Night Wraith. Where it came from, who they were before they died, and why they torment Sims are all left to speculation.

How to Get Rid of the Curse of the Night Wraith in The Sims 4
While the Night Wraith may certainly seem terrifying, it's actually fairly easy to get rid of the Curse that summons it. The Curse of the Night Wraith is no different from any other magical curse in the franchise. Brewing a Potion of Curse Cleansing or using the Decursify spell are both easy ways to cure Curses. As far as preventing curses entirely, Sims can pick up the Hexproof perk to ensure that they never get inflicted with a curse again.
For how oddly haunting the Night Wraith is, its curse is incredibly easy to expel. Still, the Night Wraith is an oddly haunting secret to find in a Sims game, especially given how ominously the game hints at the Night Wraith's existence. It's almost treated like an old gaming Creepypasta that may or may not exist, though players who find their Sims inflicted with the Curse will quickly find that the Night Wraith is more than just legend.
