Christopher Creek (Box) Canyon
Not our first time through this canyon, but still a fantastic time. The approach to Christopher Creek is still a bit of a mystery to me. I've gotten in just fine both times I've done it, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going the right way. However, with the canyon reached, we suited up and headed down. The water was cold, but not unpleasant, and the canyon was flowing beautifully. I came to the conclusion on this trip that Christopher Creek could probably be completed without ropes if you weren't into, you know, safety. Our whole group rappelled twice, though I'm pretty sure the first one could have been downclimbed. We also did a couple of the "send someone down the rope to check the depth and then everyone else jumps" thing, which is always a blast. Christopher Creek is one of my favorite Arizona canyons. You get a lot of fun for not a whole lot of work, and it's a good way to cool off when temperatures in Phoenix are well into the 100 degree range. Please excuse the quality of the photos and videos, my waterproof camera kind of sucks. It wasn't lying about being waterproof, and I suppose it never claimed to take amazing pictures, but it definitely doesn't take great pictures. I'm not sure why I did a Roman salute in this picture, but I still look awesome.

Chris Bagley’s family relieved with guilty verdict for their son’s killer
Drew Blahnik faces up to 54 years in prison

Jul. 29, 2021 9:32 pm, Updated: Jul. 30, 2021 7:37 am
CEDAR RAPIDS — Jury deliberations that appeared headed for a mistrial instead brought emotions Thursday of “relief, exhaustion and happy” to the father of Chris Bagley after he heard the guilty verdict for his son’s killer — Drew Blahnik.
The Bagley family members cried and shared hugs after the verdict was read and the jury was dismissed from Linn County District Court. The anxiety the family said they had over the last two weeks of the murder trial went away as soon as they heard the word “guilty.”
The jury deliberated for nearly three days before finding Blahnik, originally charged with first-degree murder , guilty of the lesser charge of second-degree murder in the 2018 killing. Jurors also found him guilty as charged of obstruction of prosecution and abuse of a corpse.
Stewart Bagley said his family felt relief after Thursday’s roller coaster of emotions as jury deliberations seemed to be deadlocked.
“We felt defeated,” said the father, standing outside the Linn County Courthouse. “We didn’t want to do this all over again. It’s too much. The judge did the right thing to make the jurors keep going” to reach a verdict.
About an hour after they started Thursday morning, jurors sent a note to 6th Judicial District Judge Christopher Bruns, saying they were deadlocked because one juror wasn’t following the court’s instructions and the law. They said they took a vote and it was 11-1.
They initially said further deliberations wouldn’t help. But Bruns, after talking with defense lawyers and prosecutors, sent a note back telling the jurors to continue deliberations to reach a unanimous verdict. The jury informed the court attendant it had a verdict after 3:30 p.m.
Blahnik, who didn’t show any emotion when the verdict was read, faces up to 50 years on the murder conviction and two years each on the other two charges. He must serve 70 percent of the murder sentence before being eligible for parole.
There also is a federal court detainer on Blahnik, and he faces drug charges stemming from the Chris Bagley investigation.

Judge Bruns set sentencing for Oct. 12.
The prosecution put on six days of testimony, but the defense rested without calling Blahnik or any other witnesses. Blahnik’s attorney, Leon Spies, said in his closing argument to the jury earlier this week that the killing was in self-defense or in the defense of others.
Blahnik’s family was in the courtroom for the verdict, as they were throughout the trial.
According to testimony at the trial, Blahnik “hunted down” Bagley, 31, of Walker, on behalf of drug dealer Andrew Shaw, who wanted Bagley eliminated.
Drew Wagner, already convicted in this case, testified he and Blahnik found Bagley in the early morning hours of Dec. 14, 2018, at a trailer owned by Paul Hoff in Cedar Rapids.
Wagner got into an argument that escalated into a shoving or wrestling match with Bagley. When Wagner had control of Bagley with his arms around him — pinning Bagley’s arms down — Blahnik started stabbing him.
Hoff, also charged in this case, testified Blahnik took a knife from behind his back and in a punching motion started stabbing Bagley and screaming like a “maniac.”
A medical examiner said Bagley was stabbed 13 times in the neck and torso. Most of the wounds — to the stomach, spinal column, spleen and abdomen — could have been fatal, she said.
Wagner also testified that Bagley had pulled drug and money robberies on Shaw, who later was convicted in federal court for being a large-scale marijuana trafficker in Cedar Rapids. Shaw told Blahnik to “take care” of Bagley, who was “messing up” his business, testimony showed.
Shaw hasn’t been charged in this case. He was sentenced to eight years for drugs and firearms violations and remains in federal prison.
Wagner admitted during the trial that he and Blahnik had intended to kill Bagley that day.
Blahnik, in earlier statements to a grand jury, and Wagner both said Bagley had a gun during the fight. But Wagner said the gun fell to the floor during the struggle and was never a threat to him or to Blahnik. Hoff testified there was no gun.
Blahnik, in his grand jury testimony played at trial, said he saw Bagley reach behind his back for the gun during the struggle, so he grabbed a knife off a counter and started stabbing Bagley to protect Wagner and himself.
He said Bagley was the aggressor and he feared for his life.
Hoff said all three of them helped wrap up the body in a plastic tarp and bedsheet and loaded it into Wagner’s truck.
Assistant Linn County Attorney Monica Slaughter, during her closing argument to the jury, said Blahnik and Wagner buried Bagley’s body in Wagner’s yard by the garage after they left the trailer that morning.
She also pointed out the entire killing incident took only 12 minutes based on the surveillance video of when Blahnik and Wagner arrived at Hoff’s trailer and left with Bagley’s body in the bed of the pickup truck.
The body was found buried under a pile of lumber and a canoe by the Wagner’s garage. Law enforcement had to warm the frozen ground Feb. 28, 2019, before they could dig through snow and ice to recover the body.
Spies, during his closing, questioned the credibility and motivations of Wagner, who received a plea deal, and of Hoff, who is serving 14 years on federal charges of drugs and firearms and who wanted a lesser sentence in exchange for his testimony and cooperation in this case.
Spies argued Blahnik, a former Army ranger, intervened when he saw Bagley’s gun to protect Wagner and himself.
“This is one soldier defending another and himself,” he said.

Researching alleged chemical attacks in Syria
Who is “bobfrombrockley”?

Introduction
Many of you may be aware of the claims circulating that the man behind the anonymous Twitter handle “ @bobfrombrockley ” is actually Professor Ben Gidley “ @bengidley ” of Birkbeck University in London ( @BirkbeckUoL ). This was first brought to my attention in June 2019 during an exchange I was having with “Bob” into alleged chemical attacks in Syria and the leaks from inside the OPCW.
At the time I didn’t see the relevance in verifying whether the allegation was true or not. However, as time went on I noted that “Bob” had taken aim at fellow academics in the UK in a rather crude and derogatory manner whilst also challenging anyone that sided with the OPCW whistleblowers or who questioned Jihadist propaganda on chemical attacks in Syria. Ben himself avoided taking this confrontational position on his Twitter feed so if the charges of them being the same person were correct, this showed unprofessional cowardice, in my view. Then in January 2020, I received information from someone that has proven to be reliable in the past, and who has an association with Ben Gidley, confirming that they were both the same person.
I now began paying attention and grew ever more curious of the claim for if true, I felt, this was a serious enough matter and people having interactions with either account should be made aware they may be being duped. A university professor hiding behind a pseudonym to launch attacks on other academics because he didn’t have the courage of his convictions to make these claims under his real name? That was indeed a story, if true.
In this report I investigate the claim, look at the available evidence and ask the question, Is “bobfrombrockley” really Professor Ben Gidley and can it be proven using open-sourced information?
By the end of this report I am sure you will agree with me that the evidence is conclusive.
Why Does It Matter?
Academics who form the “ Working Group on Syria, Propaganda and Media ” (hereafter referred to as “Working Group”) received information from OPCW sources in May 2019 that included a leaked engineering report penned by OPCW veteran and Douma FFM team member Ian Henderson. Since then, the Working Group has come under sustained attacks from UK State sponsored pseudo-journalists and US State Dept funded Bellingcat and its tentacles. One of those tentacles is “Bob” who vehemently defends Bellingcat, and the NATO position on the OPCW.
“Bob” as a Bellingcat Tentacle
Here are a few examples of how “Bob” works in a supporting role for Higgins and Bellingcat on Twitter.
Higgins made the incorrect claim that Russia invited Ian Henderson to speak at the UN:
When your bias replaces the human senses of sight and sound, all that's left is lies. #Douma Ian Henderson: "I was invited by the minister councillor of the Chinese mission to the UN…" Eliot Higgins: "I dunno, appearing on behalf of the Russians seems to tell us something." pic.twitter.com/nOFm2fwcQC — Philip Watson (@PhilipWatson_) January 20, 2020
Higgins is then justifiably criticised for making yet another incorrect claim. “Bob” comes along to lend Higgins’ incorrect claim support:
Ben Gidley hiding behind his pseudonym here states as fact, without a shred of evidence, that Ian Henderson is “clearly linked to Russia”. This lie is a good example of why Professor Gidley created the Bob account. It affords his alter ego the freedom to say what he can’t. https://t.co/Qq8o8gVX8z — Philip Watson (@PhilipWatson_) May 9, 2020
Here Bellingcat’s ex-UK military guy is trying to ‘deplatform’ independent journalist Anna Brees. “Bob” pops along to lend support.
And who is straight in to lend support to Waters’ call for censorship? Professor @bengidley under his alias @bobfrombrockley (the account he uses for nefarious reasons). pic.twitter.com/GMR6VzpLz6 — Philip Watson (@PhilipWatson_) June 23, 2020
Here is “Bob” interjecting again to lend Higgins support. This time he is referring to himself with Higgins/Bellingcat as “us” and labelling those that criticise this “us” as “loons”.

“Bob” doesn’t like the Working Group
Much like you & your report co-authors, I have no expertise in forensics, CBW, engineering or ballistics, so I prefer to trust the OPCW, @ForensicArchi & other actual experts who have exhaustively looked at the evidence. It’s objectively the case that your position is fringe. — Bob From Brockley 🥤 (@bobfrombrockley) September 22, 2019
“Bob” responds to one of the academics he regularly attacks saying he prefers to trust the OPCW, (who have been publicly humiliated by 4 of their own whistleblowers and whose Director-General Fernando Arias lied to coverup US involvement in his organisation ). And to “trust” Forensic Architecture, an interesting group of enthusiasts based at Goldsmiths University in London who have also been caught producing fraudulent reports to support the OPCW findings into staged chemical attacks in Syria.

Look who is also associated with Goldsmiths.

I have shown how Forensic Architecture produced a fraudulent report on the staged chlorine attack in Douma in April 2018 here . This therefore begs the question, If “Bob” is Ben, then why was he using a pseudonym to lend support to two groups that have been shown to have been passing off lies as truth? And why wasn’t he doing it under his own name?
What I found more intriguing though is why he had decided to try and rubbish the 4 OPCW experts who blew the whistle on skullduggery with regards FFM investigations? Why was an academic attacking other academics for standing up for whistleblowers? Yet, as stated, he was doing all this under a pseudonym. Why?

Now we see “Bob” snidely make mention of “working groups” and “briefing papers” and refer to them as ‘conspiracy theorists’. “Bob” is of course referring the “Working Group” and their “Briefing Papers”.
If “Bob” is Ben then we are dealing with a rather cowardly individual who, even though he creates an alter-ego for himself to say things he wouldn’t dare under his own name, yet even under his alter-ego still struggles to just say what he feels.
Bob-from-Brockley's activities would be deplored by @SSHPBirkbeck – e.g. editing Wikipedia entries of academics at other institutions with clear intent to damage their reputation. I've repeatedly asked @bengidley for reassurance this is not his doing. None so far received. pic.twitter.com/OjvaGPU5fm — Tim Hayward (@Tim_Hayward_) January 24, 2020
Uncanny Similarities
Let’s start at the beginning with the basic similarities before progressing.
On November 2010 “Bob” joined Twitter.

The following month, so did Ben.

Both accounts hail from Lewisham, London:

Both accounts use iPhones.

Both accounts share a liking to the same, obscure music.

Both accounts share a liking for the same “Marxist” authors:

Unwelcome Intervention
Let’s now go back to November 2014. During an exchange between “Bob” and a Twitter user under the alias of “@fleshisgrass” Ben answers a question posed to “Bob” whilst removing the tag to “Bob”. To all of us versed in all things Twitterspherion we would know that to be strange as Ben would have had to have spotted the reply, untagged “Bob” and then replied.

Check out the exchange here . So who invited Ben to exchange? He wasn’t tagged in it. And where did “Bob” go to when Ben intervened? And why did Ben untag “Bob” and respond solely to “Flesh”?
Is this maybe a case of someone responding from the wrong account?
Further Similarities

You get the idea, right?
Kids Hold The Key?
Here I will provide OSINT data that shows that both “Bob” and Ben have 2 male kids, both the same age.

As the “8 yr old” reference in both tweets above doesn’t qualify their sex I had to dig a little deeper.

So in 2012 we see that “Bob’s” child is a 7 year old boy. Thus in 2013 he would of course have turned 8.

Here we see Ben refer to his “11 year old son” in 2016. Therefore in 2013 the boy would have been 8. I extensively looked into this component of the investigation as I believe it to be a solid piece of evidence. All references made from both accounts point to both identities having 2 boys, 3 years apart in age.
Any search for the term “daughter” on both accounts returns negative results pointing to neither identity having a daughter.
Same Time. Same Events.
Both accounts share an uncanny ability to be at the same locations, on the same day, at the same time.

Did you notice anything odd about the previous two tweets? In my investigations into these accounts it’s apparent that Ben likes to broadcast his location whilst when he logs into “Bob” he likes to keep it private. Yet the reverse is true in this instance.
I emailed Ben on January 24, 2020 in connection with some of the information I had received on him and asked for his comments.

I received no response.
Before publishing this article I emailed Ben again to give him a “right of Reply”:

Again, no reply.
Why did I feel it was important to reveal Professor Ben Gidley’s fraud? First up, for me anyway, it was his cowardice that I found intriguing. Each of the academics of the Working Group are well known for writing under their own names and to have that writing reflect their honest views, regardless of whether those views get them a lot of unwanted attention. They have the conviction of their beliefs. Yet, here was Professor Ben Gidley, attacking these same academics but from an anonymous account. That had cowardice written all over it. Why didn’t this man have the same convictions of his beliefs and post under his own name when he wanted to attack academics for their bravery and honesty?
But more-so I took issue at “Bob” being rolled out to defend US State Dept funded Bellingcat as they pushed their much discredited attacks on brave whistleblowers from within the OPCW and then to attack others for lending said whistleblowers support. I hold academia and its professionals in high regard and I believe they should be defending the right of others to question authority and to support whistleblowers when they come forward. Not to attack those defending courageous people in an attempt to stifle debate and therefore subdue the information they are trying to have heard.
One of Ben’s associates also felt the same way when they made contact in January and provided me with irrefutable proof “Bob” is Ben. Unfortunately I couldn’t publish the proof because it would give the identity of the source away so I left the matter for another day when I had the time to dig through the open-source material to see if evidence could be found to support the information I was shown. I’ve now done that, provided the material above and you should be in no doubt that Professor Ben Gidley is “Bob”. I have lots more evidence I’ve gathered but I feel the point has been proven.
Whilst researching this article, and given “Bob’s” incessant defence of the group, I reached out to my source close to Bellingcat, who has time and time again been spot on in their information. This source informed me of internal discontent within the US State Dept funded project as Higgins began to sideline long time allies who disagreed with his new direction of ignoring OSINT for “unnamed sources”, those sources being from Intelligence Agencies. Higgins took to Twitter to rubbish my claims. But bizarrely actually published a tweet from me that proved my source was correct, that there was internal discontent and that Higgins had sidelined longtime allies!

As my tweet is not fully showing, here is my RT from “Daniel”:

Only in Higgins’ world could he take evidence proving that someone is right and then try to use it to prove they’re in-fact wrong. Crazy. Though maybe that’s what he means by the Bellingcat Slogan: “Truth, in a post-truth world”?
Gratefully, the person he was tweeting at set him right about the stupidity of his argument:

That same source also confirmed to me that “Bob” is Ben and that they’re confident Higgins has been aware for some time.
I’m the first to accept that unnamed sources are not very OSINT friendly and I have continuously qualified my use of same by asking that you judge their information and whether it is proven true or not and make up your own minds. So far any information I have been provided of events yet to unfold has been 100% solid.
In closing; the evidence points to Professor Ben Gidley as having cowardice tendencies and to be a person absent the courage of his convictions. Professor Ben Gidley is @bobfrombrockley and he uses that account to show support for Bellingcat whilst helping the group attack academics and anyone else that dares lend support to Whistleblowers.

Ben appears to be quite the Left winger, immersed in the politics of multiculturalism, racism and fascism. Except when it comes to Russia or Syria. I wonder why that is?
There’s a lot of ‘liberals or ‘left wingers’ who seem to push multiculturalism at home etc while promoting its destruction in Syria and other wars in the Middle East. It’s as dishonest as using multiple user names to push misinformation. These cowards probably are doing this for some short term gain. What they don’t appreciate is aside from destroying the lives of innocents abroad, their misinformation is directly responsible for escalating tensions with Russia. This will likely lead to global conflict which will certainly wipe out Lewisham in seconds. I wonder if Bob has thought about that.
People think it’s a game but we are very close to a world conflict – Syria is still the place likely to start. And the people promoting war and misery need to stop, if not for the safety of their loved ones.
Good work on this latest exposure.
As an aside I see both Ben and Bob have 6000 Twitter followers a piece. Not bad. Mind you, he might have had many more if he had stuck to one name.
I also see on Bob’s account he mentions the 171 bus – one I believe I’ve taken when in the area. I’ll watch out for him – but might get confused between Bob and Ben, though.
This type of investigation is quite good fun – I remember 10 years ago exposing a hypocrite on a financial website who was a ‘well known ‘campaigner’ against market abuse’, Turned out he had abused the financial markets, using 50 user names for years. And these user names often had online discussions, with each other! Great fun, looking out for the clues that this was the same person posting.
The evidence here looks compelling. I suppose the question is, is this an issue with Bob and Ben’s employment status? Will he be forced to close down all his accounts? Is his association with Eliot ‘suck my balls’ Higgins too controversial for his employers? No doubt they will have a social media policy in their staff handbook which might be a catch all ‘ we will take action if your online activities trace back to us’ I suspect Bob’s account meets that criteria.
This matter will be raised with Ben’s university in due course. Thanks for the feedback.
