This tour takes about 1.5 hours, and the total walking distance is about a mile. All ages are welcome, but Afterlife Tours states that some evidence presented may be disturbing to certain younger participants.

William (Bill) or aka (Bob as I kept calling him) simply made our experience unforgettable!!! We three girls felt like he tailor made our experience just for us. That tour with him remains to be our favorite part of an already great trip! Thank you Bob . BTW...look at the attached picture of a ghost that attached itself to our friends face at the cemetery.

afterlife ghost tours st augustine

I was disappointed. I envisioned the tour taking us into scary old buildings with paranormal activity. I hoped the hair on the back of my neck would stand up as I felt a cold spot in the empty room. Alas, the "ghost" tour was more like a walking history tour of downtown St. Augustine. We never went inside any buildings or in any way entered into a situation that felt "paranormal". Even though the guide used a small PA system it was still difficult to hear what he was saying much of the time. Granted, it was during the Nights of Lights celebration so a spooky vibe would have been difficult among the festivities but the tour was more comical than menacing.

This will be a tour we will never forget- my best friend and I had some great laughs in this tour and the guide was very interesting and knowledgeable about the real history of St Augustine. Best birthday ever.

Photo of Bill S.

The tour guide Bill was very knowledgeable and tried to be funny and interact with the group but there was way too many distractions too much loud music too many big crowds and too many homeless people to enjoy the tour also the places we visited we were not allowed to enter so he just told us the history and the urban legends that surround the sites do not recommend

We did this tour at the last minute. We're glad we close to do it. We've been on several ghost tours (Charleston, Savannah, Salem). This was one of the best. Nick was a great tour guide. He was very professional, presented many interesting facts, and was very knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommended.

Photo of Courtney T.

Nick was a great tour guide and definitely knew his history! Thank you for an interesting tour!

I absolutely love the tours and information that this company puts together. The owners and staff are top notch and truly put in the time for research and fact checking often times debunking many urban legends. I have recommended many friends and family members to go on this tour and I also recommend that you go on this tour!! You will not regret it!!

Awesome tour with a lot of historical facts and no BS some of the other ones give you. Would highly recommend.

The Spookiest St. Augustine Ghost Tours

It’s October in Florida. And that means cooler weather, longer nights, and some seasonal flair. It also means that spooky season is upon us. And here in St. Augustine, Halloween is a month-long festival of frights. As America’s oldest city, St. Augustine has a rich history peppered with fascinating stories of residents past who may have passed on — but who left behind echoes that continue to resonate today. As such, we’re arguably the most haunted city in the nation! If you’re interested in meeting some of our fair city’s most famous dearly departed denizens, then check out our guide to the spookiest St. Augustine ghost tours.

Ghosts and Gravestones of St. Augustine

Ghosts and Gravestones is one of St. Augustine’s longest-running and most popular creepy crawls, and for good reason. Guests are invited to hop on an Old Town trolley for this tour, which whisks everyone to some of the city’s most haunted highlights. Among them: The Old Jail , which was the final stop for many of the area’s most maligned miscreants — many of whom met gruesome ends. Despite the macabre nature of the tour, it’s a great family-friendly  attraction.

27 San Marco Ave, St. Augustine FL, 32084

GhoSt. Augustine

If you’re looking for a small-group tour that’s certain to be a hair-raising trek, GhoSt. Augustine is a frightfully fantastic option. Both walking tours and shuttle-based trips are offered, with each taking guests to some truly spooky spots. As an added bonus, guests are also free to use specialized paranormal activity equipment to detect any potential ripples that may be happening nearby. The guides on this tour are also exceptionally entertaining, so strap in!

162 St. George St Suite 19, St. Augustine, FL 32084

Dark of the Moon Tour

The St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum — widely known to be one of the most haunted spots in the country — will be hosting spooky summer ghost tours on weekend evenings throughout October. Your tour guide will take you and your group on a creepy trek through the facility and share true tales from the storied history of this chilling place. Admission is just $25 ($20 for kids 12 and under) and helps support maritime research at the museum.

100 Red Cox Dr, St. Augustine, FL 32080

Afterlife Tours

If you’re a history buff, you can’t go wrong with Afterlife Tours. These guided go-’rounds feature a special focus on the city’s incredibly colorful past, filled as it was with pirates, conquistadors, lawless early days, and even plagues. These tours offer stops at numerous historic cemeteries, as well as a fair number of exceptionally eerie dark corners where other tours don’t dare go. Fair warning: Afterlife Tours can be genuinely unsettling, and may not be for everyone — particularly younger children. But for paranormal aficionados looking for an especially spine-chilling experience, you’d have a hard time topping this tour.

1 King St, St. Augustine, FL 32084

Sheriff’s Ghost Walkin g Tours

Sheriff’s Ghost may be the only ghost tour in the city led by an actual ghost. Sheriff Guy White was a St. Augustine lawman who passed on 1911, but he still returns from time to time to lead guests on a weird walk through the city’s past, pointing out some of its most cobweb-covered corners. Those who have taken this tour appreciate the thoroughly researched history, unique stops, and the ephemeral enthusiasm of Sheriff White himself. Bring your camera!

32 St. George Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084

Spirits With Spirits Paranormal Pub Crawl

There’s only one thing that could make a great ghost tour even better — and that’s being able to enjoy a few adult beverages along the way. Spirits With Spirits tours accomplish just that. Embark on an excursion that will take you into some of the city’s most haunted hangouts, and knock back a few cocktails in the bargain. You’ll even start with one complimentary drink right out of the gate to start the fun! Obviously, these yours are limited to those 21 and older.

23 Orange St, St. Augustine, FL 32084

Regardless of which tour — or tours — you opt to take, there will be at least one aspect of your adventure that isn’t scary at all. Specifically, your stay at St. George Inn. Feel free to take a look at our Special Offers page , select the St. Augustine travel deal that’s right for you, and let the anticipation begin!

11 Best Saint Augustine Ghost Tours to Creep You Out

August 27, 2020 //  by  Florida Trippers

Planning a trip to Saint Augustine and looking for the spookiest Saint Augustine ghost tours? This is the perfect list to help with that!

Saint Augustine ghost tours are some of the best in the country. This city has a long history filled with plenty of ghost stories, making it the perfect location for your next paranormal vacation.

Saint Augustine was actually the very first European-founded city in the United States of America. It was officially created back in September of 1565 by a Spanish admiral named Pedro Menéndez de Avilés.

If you do the math, that’s over 450 years Saint Augustine has had to accumulate haunts and spooks. And there is definitely no shortage of those in this town.

Some of the very first churches, bars, and hotels were built in Saint Augustine. If you take one of these Saint Augustine ghost tours, those are just a few of the haunted locations you will get to visit!

If any of this sounds interesting to you, or if you just need something to do this Halloween , keep reading for a list of the best ghost tours in Saint Augustine.

Afterlife Tours

Afterlife Tours offers some of the best ghost tours in Saint Augustine. This company started in Savannah, Georgia, where they collect paranormal evidence and hold tours of Savannah to share it with visitors.

Since the Savannah Afterlife Tours became so popular, the Savannah Ghost Research Society decided to expand their operation to Saint Augustine! They do detailed research at every location on the tour, aiming to debunk myths and tell only true stories.

This separates Afterlife Tours from other Saint Augustine haunted tours because of their focus on the truth.

This 1.5 hour excursion will take you to three frightening locations, (The Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, the Tolomato Cemetery, and the Huguenot Cemetery) and you will get to find out what really happened at each one.

You might think the true stories would make for a boring ghost tour, but we are here to tell you they most certainly do not! In fact, the stories being absolutely true makes this tour one of the scariest Saint Augustine ghost tours on the list.

You will even get to see and here some of the evidence the research team has collected, such as EVP’s (Electronic Voice Phenomena), as well as photos and videos believed to show images of actual ghosts.

Afterlife Tours offers walking tours only, so be sure to dress accordingly (comfy shoes are a must!).

A large percentage of people depart these tours with their own photos of supernatural beings and audio recordings they can’t quite explain. The tour also takes place after dark, really giving it an air of eeriness.

You will visit a total of 4 pubs, hearing both historical and modern ghost stories about each location. You will also be given authentic paranormal investigation equipment to use, so get ready to live your Ghostbusters dreams!

To keep an air of authenticity and allow guests time to use the paranormal investigation equipment, Spirits with Spirits only allows a maximum of 16 guests per tour group.

This tour is obviously for guests over the age of 21, but they request you bring ID to show at each location if you would like to drink.

Just like the Trolley Tour, this location has its very own Saint Augustine ghost train, which you can hop on and off of as you explore the grounds.
