Fitzroy Yachts Limited launched sailing yacht MOONBIRD in 2003. Therefore, she was built over in New Zealand. MOONBIRD is a yacht which had yacht design work compiled by Dubois Naval Architects and Dubois Naval Architects. This superyacht MOONBIRD can accommodate overnight a capacity of 8 guests aboard and 6 professional crew. Ready for launch in 2003 the recent internal styling exhibits the insight of Rhoades Young Ltd.

The Build & Yacht Design with respect to Luxury Yacht MOONBIRD

Dubois Naval Architects was the naval architect involved in the technical vessel plans for MOONBIRD. Also the company Dubois Naval Architects skillfully collaborated on this venture. Interior designer Rhoades Young Ltd was selected for the overall interior styling. Created by Fitzroy Yachts Limited this vessel was constructed in the recognised yachting country New Zealand. She was successfully launched in New Plymouth in 2003 before being handed over to the owner. A spacious feeling is achieved with a widest beam (width) of 8.38 metres / 27.5 feet. With a 4m (13.1ft) draught (maximum depth) she is fairly deep. The material aluminium was used in the building of the hull of the sailing yacht. Her superstructure over the hull is fashioned from aluminium. In 2008 further refitting and updating was additionally finished.

The 3196E engine powering the yacht is made by CATERPILLAR. Her propulsion units are a single screw propeller (hundested 4 blades variable pitch). The engine of the ship generates 660 horse power (or 442 kilowatts). She is equiped with 1 engines. The sum power for the boat is thus 592 HP or 442 KW. The bow thrusters are Lewmar Retractable / Stern:lewmar Retractable.

YPI is pleased to announce the sale of 121ft (37m) Fitzroy Sloop MOONBIRD. YPI Senior Broker Matthew Albert represented the Buyer in this transaction.

Built by Fitzroy Yachts in New Zealand and launched in 2003, Sailing Yacht MOONBIRD was designed by Dubois to offer not only stunning exterior lines and a spacious and tasteful interior by Rhoades Young but also genuine world-cruising capabilities combined with excellent sailing performance.

With several refits under her previous owners, Matthew tells us that her new owner plans to refit the yacht again to prepare her for yet more exciting world-cruising over the next 10 years.

MOONBIRD was for sale with an Asking Price of EUR 5,950,000 VAT PAID.

This extensive refit saw a more powerful carbon rig added to the sloop sail yacht’s design, and the overall exterior design is the work of Dubois. A marble shower room is just one of the interior highlights, with Rhoades Young utilizing high quality furnishings and finishes to create a decadent feel, perfect for any charter yacht experience.

The vessel measures 121.88/37.15-meters, and sleeps up to 6 guests in its 3 rooms. The rooms include a master suite, 2 twin cabins and 2 Pullman beds, each offering a comfortable and contemporary place to relax after long days at sea.

The superyacht has deck speakers, as one of a number of entertainment amenities, so is the ideal charter yacht for entertaining friends and family. Underwater lights add an attractive and modern feel.

The Moonbird has a cruising speed of 10 knots and a maximum speed of 13 knots, offering guests a smooth cruise for all on board.

Views are plentiful, and the yacht offers a stunning perspective of the ocean. Air conditioning keeps things comfortable for guests even on the hottest of days, and the open seating areas offer guests a truly sumptuous sailing experience.

Dining and living areas are spacious, stylish and functional, and on board Wi-Fi connection makes catching up on emails or updating social media easy.

The 37m/121'5" sail yacht 'Celtic Spirit' (ex. Moonbird) was built by Fitzroy in New Zealand at their New Plymouth shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Rhoades Young and she was completed in 2003. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Dubois and she was last refitted in 2013.
