Do all of the rooms at Yacht Club have balconies? and are they all private? I read somewhere someone had a "shared" balcony and I would personally not like that! Thank you! ”

  • Great location! The Yacht Club is walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios (which is also easily accessible by boat or Skyliner.)
  • Stormalong Bay! This gorgeous water complex includes a sand bottom pool, pirate slide, and lazy river.
  • A diner’s paradise! In addition to two theme parks, the Yacht Club is also walking distance to the Beach Club, Boardwalk Inn, and Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. Being so close to four additional deluxe resorts provides extensive dining and entertainment options.

What is the Yacht Club like?

The Yacht Club (YC) is a five-story, 630 room resort, slightly larger than its sister resort, the Beach Club (BC), located along the shore of Crescent Lake, opposite the Boardwalk Resort . Themed after seaside New England hotels of the late 1800s, the Yacht Club has a stately, nautical look and feel; hardwood floors and brass accents enhance this feeling. Guests staying at both the Yacht Club and Beach Club have the exclusive use of Stormalong Bay, a 750,000 gallon pool/mini-water park complete with water slide, sandy bottom, whirlpools, and water currents.

Why stay at the Yacht Club?

Three very important reasons: Location, Location, Location. The Yacht Club is one of the most conveniently located resorts on Disney’s property. The Yacht Club is within walking distance of Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Boardwalk, the Swan, and the Dolphin hotels. If you don’t feel like walking you can choose a short boat ride to any of these places instead.

yacht club disney balcony

If you like fine dining, you will be in the center of it all. Not only do the Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Boardwalk all have terrific choices, you are also just minutes away from the international flavor of Epcot’s World Showcase. If you like to swim, one of the best hotel pools, Stormalong Bay, is right under your nose. There are several other recreational activities available at the Yacht Club (described below).

Transportation – How do I get there from here?

  • Epcot – Epcot can be easily reached by foot via a short 10-minute walk along the water way leading to Epcot’s International Gateway. If walking isn’t for you, there is a boat to ferry guests from all the Epcot resorts (Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk, Yacht Club, and Beach Club) to the International Gateway, but the walk is faster and a bit more scenic. To board the boat, simply exit the lobby on the rear side of the hotel and walk straight down to the dock – just look for the lighthouse. Be sure you’re in the Epcot line (left side facing the water), not Disney’s Hollywood Studios line (right side facing the water) line.Epcot resort guests CAN use the International Gateway entrance to Epcot even though World Showcase may not yet be open for the day. Cast members will help usher you toward Future World in Epcot. The International Gateway also offers full-service ticketing and purchasing of annual passes. The guest services window usually opens 30 minutes prior to park opening.
  • You can take a leisurely 15 to 20 minute one-mile stroll along the path that follows the waterway connecting the Epcot resort area with the Hollywood Studios.
  • Take the Friendship boat f rom the right side of the boat dock. You can meet the boat at the dock just as you would the boat for Epcot, by exiting the rear of the hotel and walking straight down to the lighthouse. Again, make sure you catch the right boat. The CMs will surely let you know which boat you’re getting on. The boat usually stops by the Swan and Dolphin and Boardwalk via the Studios. The trip takes about 20 minutes.
  • Take the Disney Skyliner. Walk to International Gateway and climb aboard the most Magical Flight on Earth! You will need to transfer to the Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Caribbean Beach Station.

yacht club disney balcony

  • Magic Kingdom – The Magic Kingdom can be reached by taking a bus from the front of the hotel. Another longer, but more scenic, journey is to take the monorail from Epcot’s front entrance, transfer at the TTC, and then continue to the MK. Traveling this way does take some time and some walking, but you get to see a little bit more, and it lends to resort hopping if the mood strikes. Keep in mind this route will likely taste at least an hour.
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Disney’s Animal Kingdom can be reached by taking a bus from the front of the hotel.

yacht club disney balcony

  • Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, and Disney Springs – Buses take you directly from the hotel to these locations after picking up passengers from the Beach Club and Boardwalk Inn. Travel times vary to each of these locations, but many of these attractions are relatively close to the Yacht Club, so you never have to wait too long.

Note that when using the buses, they will usually stop at the Beach Club; however sometimes it will also stop at the Boardwalk, the Swan and the Dolphin resorts. The tends to happen during the middle of the day or during low crowd times.

  • Disney’s Boardwalk – The Boardwalk faces the Yacht and Beach Clubs on the opposite side of Crescent Lake. There are two foot bridges, one in the direction of the Swan/Dolphin hotels, and one in the direction of Epcot, allowing you to walk to this entertainment complex and hotel.
  • For all other locations, including Fort Wilderness , and resort hotels, buses to Disney Springs will allow you to connect with other transportation to your final destination. You can also take the monorail from the Future World side of Epcot to reach the TTC. Travel times vary widely here. You can time it just right and have a short, efficient trip, or have a trip lasting over  an hour. Hope for the best!Hint: When in a hurry, it usually takes only 5 minutes to get a taxi. Go to the valet station at the front of the Yacht Club and they will call a taxi for you.Trips to destinations on property range in cost from $16 to $24. For example, the typical taxi fare from the Yacht Club to the Grand Floridian costs about $20 (not including tip). It’s usually significantly cheaper to take a Rideshare such as an Uber or Lyft from the front of the Yacht Club to anywhere on property.

What are the rooms like?

Most rooms feature two queen-size beds, a table and chairs, color TV w/remote, a ceiling fan, double sinks in the dressing area, and refrigerator. Some rooms have a daybed that will accommodate the maximum 5 guests allowed per room at the Yacht Club. There are also pet friendly rooms. Of the 539 regular guest rooms at the Yacht Club, 483 rooms have queen-sized beds, 56 rooms have king-sized beds, and there are 10 disabled access rooms. Most rooms have a balcony that have a table and two chairs. Standard Rooms are for all guests, including Concierge Club. Deluxe rooms are larger and are only available on the Concierge level.

yacht club disney balcony

The rooms at the Yacht Club have been thoughtfully stocked with many extras. Rooms have a small safe, located in the closet, in which you can store your valuables such as jewelry, airline tickets, passports, travelers’ checks, etc. For bigger items, storage facilities may be available at the front desk.

Another nice feature is having the bathtub/toilet separated from the rest of the room. The double sinks are located outside the true “bathroom.” In the vanity area, you will find a hair dryer, as well as a make-up mirror mounted on the wall.

yacht club disney balcony

The Yacht Club does have a Club Level and club-level/service rooms. All Club Level rooms are located on the hotel’s 5th floor, which requires your Magic Band to gain entry from the elevator. There are 71 concierge suites and 20 “true” suites in a variety of sizes. See the Concierge page for more information about the concierge level.

Walt Disney World Resort has complimentary Wi-Fi service available in all of its hotels and parks. See our Internet Access page for details.

A room with a view, but which one?

There are three views available: The Standard view, the Garden or Woods view, and the Lagoon or pool view.

Standard view rooms overlook the garden, rooftop or parking areas around the hotel. Garden or Woods view rooms typically overlook the slightly nicer areas around the quiet pool, or even the wedding gazebo. Lagoon or pool view rooms have a direct view of Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk. Some of the Lagoon or Pool view rooms are located just above Stormalong Bay and may be a bit noisy during the day. Note also that not all Lagoon or Pool view rooms offer a direct view of the lake and the Boardwalk. Many are at right angles to the lake, making it often difficult or impossible to see the Boardwalk. If you should book a Lagoon or Pool view room, don’t be disappointed if you don’t have a direct view of the lake.

Can I Bring My Pet to Stay at the Yacht Club?

Walt Disney World has four hotels pet-friendly, one of which is Disney’s Yacht Club. Read our page on Pet-Friendly Hotel Rooms for more details.

Pets may also be boarded at the Best Friends Pet Care kennel across from Port Orleans Riverside.

Are there smoking and nonsmoking rooms?

All Disney resorts and guest rooms are smoke free . There are designated outdoor smoking areas. Check the resort map or with a Cast Member for locations.

Prices are per room, and there is an additional adult charge of $25 per adult per night for more than two adults in a room.

Are there any discounts?

There are many ways to save a few dollars on your accommodations at WDW. Disney offers several resort “seasons” throughout the year including a Value Season. Annual Passholders can save by visiting during annual Passholder specials. Florida residents get a break for living in the same state as the Mouse. Don’t forget holidays are the most expensive time to visit, along with most of the summer. Generally, planning your trip during the off-season can save you money right off the bat.

Please visit our Discount Summary Page for more information.

I hear that there are no more room key cards at Disney resort hotels. How do I get into my room?

Walt Disney World has converted their room keys and admission tickets from plastic cards to MagicBands, flexible plastic wristbands, resembling a watch or bracelet, that use Radio Frequency (RF) technology. Your MagicBand is linked to your My Disney Experience (MDE) account and acts as your Disney resort room key. Simply touch the Mickey symbol on your MagicBand to the RFID reader near your room door to gain entry. Read about using MagicBands for park admission, FastPass+ and more.

I want to swim!

The Yacht Club has one of the best, if not the best swimming pools (at a hotel) in all of Walt Disney World. Stormalong Bay is a three-acre water playground shared between the Yacht Club and the Beach Club. It’s a great place to have fun or just relax. Stormalong Bay has many different sections that encompass its 750,000 gallons of water. There are shallow wading areas for the younger ones, complete with sand bottoms. There are also larger and deeper areas, some with sand, some without.

yacht club disney balcony

A “shipwreck” on the shore of Crescent Lake provides the entrance to an exciting water slide for the adventurous folks. There is a circular area in Stormalong Bay with water jets that create a current. All you have to do is float. the water will move you along! All around Stormalong Bay are lounge chairs where you can relax and catch some rays. Among other things, you’ll find a waterfall and a couple of hot tubs hidden amongst the scenery. Note, however, that life jackets cannot be worn when using the water slide. The water slide includes an enclosed tube and a child with a life jacket can get stuck. If your child requires the use of a life jacket, you can request to use the pool and slide at the Boardwalk Inn.

yacht club disney balcony

There is a quiet pool at the Yacht Club, found on the far end of the hotel away from the noise and excitement. The pool is located on the front/side of the hotel farthest from the Beach Club and closest to the Swan/Dolphin. There is also a hot tub in the same area as the quiet pool. These facilities are open 24 hours, as long as you are quiet! You can also use the quiet pool/hot tub on the Beach Club side of things. This pool is located on the back side of the Beach Club, closest to Epcot. You may see this area if you walk the path to Epcot. There is a third pool (and hot tub) located at the Beach Club Villas; guests of the Yacht Club are welcome to use it as well.

What other recreation is available at the Yacht Club?

Be sure to request the Recreational Activities flyer . There may be activities like Water Volleyball, Campfire Sing-along, or Movie Under the Stars.

Does the Yacht Club have a Convention Center?

Yes, the Yacht and Beach Clubs share a convention center that has 73,000 square feet of meeting and function space, that can accommodate both large and small events.

How do I use valet parking?

Simply drive your vehicle to the front of the resort and a Cast Member will park it for you. Valet parking is $33 per car for the day, even if you are staying at the Yacht Club. Don’t forget to tip the valet (both the one who takes your car and the one who brings it back to you – $1-2 is recommended) When you need to retrieve your vehicle, simply give the valet your slip of paper you were given when the car was parked, and your car will be delivered to the front of the hotel. When you are ready to get your car, call the valet stand from your room and ask for your car to be brought around. If you pay for valet at one Disney resort hotel, you can use valet at the other hotels – just tell them you are paying at the Yacht Club. The Disney resorts contract out valet services, so you are dealing with a 3rd party, not Disney employed cast members.

Does the Yacht Club have a Security Gate?

Yes, the Yacht Club complex has a guarded security gate. Upon initial arrival, simply explain to the guard you are checking in. Once you have checked in, your Magic Band will also serve to open the security gates (pull on the right side to activate the guest gate). Be sure to have your Magic Band ready when reentering through the security gate. During busy times ONLY Yacht Club resort guests may be allowed to enter the parking area.

Tips and Tricks: What else you should know about the Yacht Club:

Need a new ‘do, or just a haircut? Ship Shape Spa and Salon is located between the YC and BC, next to the health club, is the place to go. It is open 9 a.m.-7 p.m., daily. Services offered include: hair and nail services, massages and facials. Appointments are strongly recommended, call (407) WDW-SPAS or (407) 939-7727 to book.

Are you a couple on a romantic getaway? Ask for a room overlooking the wedding gazebo (a garden view room). If you’re lucky, from your balcony you’ll be able to hear and see a magical Disney wedding take place. Quite a romantic/reminiscent experience.

Plunk a few quarters in the slots at Lafferty Place Arcade where you’ll find a selection of exciting video games.

Parking – – there is a lot where you park your car. It’s a long walk from your room to the car, unless you want to pay for valet parking.

Disney’s Yacht Club Room Tour (A Standard Guest Room with a Garden View)

This article previews a standard guest room with a garden or woods view at Disney’s Yacht Club. Since we initially wrote this article, this view category is now considered a resort view.

It’s been far too long since we visited Disney’s Yacht Club. Before starting Resorts Gal, we stayed at this hotel often. We were even guests of the hotel when its nautical rooms debuted a few years ago. They were some of the first rooms at Walt Disney World to offer solid surface flooring.

So when several events in the Epcot Resorts Area coincided, I knew it was time to return for an updated look at the resort. Those events were Disney After Hours at Hollywood Studios and the start of the Epcot International Festival of the Arts.

Since the resort is within walking distance of both parks, it was convenient to stay here. Over the course of a few days, I spent quality time at the resort, attended an After Hours event, and walked back and forth to Epcot for the start of the festival.

yacht club disney balcony

Disney’s Yacht Club’s rooms are among my favorite resort rooms in all of Walt Disney World. Unfortunately, if you look closely, you’ll notice they are starting to show the slightest amount of wear and tear. However, that can be expected over time, and these rooms are by no means shabby.

yacht club disney balcony

Behind the beds, the feature wall offers a patterned wallpaper. Lamps hang on each side of both beds. Everything in the room has a nautical look.

yacht club disney balcony

Most standard rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club sleep up to five guests. This room has two queen beds and a pull-down sleeper sofa for one.

yacht club disney balcony

Below is a photo showing how the bed converts. You may remember we saw this same style of convertible bed in our stateroom on the Disney Wish and in the Incredible rooms at the Contemporary .

yacht club disney balcony

Even though these beds are smaller than a standard sofa-sleeper, I prefer them. They are much more comfortable.

Our room had plenty of storage space. Here is the dresser with various size drawers and a cabinet in the middle. You might also note there’s plenty of counter space with several charging and USB ports.

yacht club disney balcony

If you’re anything like me, you’ll have the extra pillow and blanket out in no time. Of course, if you need more, housekeeping will be happy to bring extra.

yacht club disney balcony

On the wall nearest the bed, there are a few convenient touches.

yacht club disney balcony

The artwork features a 1971 reference and a Mickey Mouse element.

yacht club disney balcony

This attention to detail is one of the reasons I enjoy this room so much. It’s nice for the person on this side of the bed to have a place to put their phone and charge it simultaneously.

yacht club disney balcony

Here is the setup on the opposite side of the room.

It’s always nice to see Mickey.

There’s a desk with a lamp for those of us who have to work while we play.

yacht club disney balcony

It doubles as a table on rollers. You can roll the table out and place it in front of the television. When my niece was younger, I would often utilize this feature.

yacht club disney balcony

Here is a picture of the artwork placed over the futon-style sofa. It features touches of all things nautical like a knotted rope, a sail, and a boat.

yacht club disney balcony

But perhaps, my favorite element of the room is the drapes. These dark, black-out curtains feature constellations. But they aren’t just any constellations. A closer look reveals our favorite characters connected in the stars.

yacht club disney balcony

Another positive feature is that the beds are platform-style. They provide plenty of room to store luggage underneath the bed. With that said, I wouldn’t say I like to unpack everything for shorter stays like this one. So a luggage rack would have been appreciated.

yacht club disney balcony

We see a split bath that allows multiple guests to get ready at once.

yacht club disney balcony

There are two sinks with additional storage underneath the vanity.

yacht club disney balcony

My favorite feature is the ledge over the sink area. The ledge above the counter provides plenty of room for guests to place personal items. Also, housekeeping can still clean around the sinks without moving personal items.

There was also a make-up mirror.

yacht club disney balcony

We always had a walk-in shower during our previous stays at Disney’s Yacht Club. So I was surprised to see a tub with a shower combination.

yacht club disney balcony

However, I appreciated the rain shower and detachable shower head. And there are no complaints about the water pressure or temperature at Disney’s Yacht Club. Don’t you hate staying at a hotel lacking water pressure or when the hot water runs out?

Individual toiletries were available. This is standard at Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club next door.

Our room’s foyer had a built-in closet and wardrobe area.

Inside the closet, I found plenty of room to hang and store personal items.

A door opens on the far side of the space to reveal an iron, an ironing board, and an in-room safe.

Near the room’s entrance, we see an area designated for food and beverage items. You can store a few snacks on the upper shelves.

Here is the Keurig coffee maker with individual Joffrey’s coffee selections and other accompaniments.

Underneath the counter, there’s a drawer with additional storage space and a beverage cooler. These coolers are designed to chill drinks. They have a warning on the front that they only cool to 41 degrees, so use your best judgment with perishable items.

Lastly, we had a view of a garden area with woods in the distance. When I reserved this room, it said garden or woods view. So I guess we had a little of both.

Most of the rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club offer a full-size balcony with a small table and two chairs.

Room Tour of Disney’s Yacht Club Guest Rooms

Okay, so I don’t usually recommend upgrading to a higher room category for a view. But at Disney’s Yacht Club, I make an exception.

Below is an older photo of the kind of room views we’ve enjoyed in the past. This was the first time I stayed at Yacht Club, where we didn’t have a water view, and I missed it.

So if you think you would enjoy waking up to this kind of view every morning, you might consider it. However, this kind of upgrade is something we can all consider a luxury.

yacht club disney balcony

Of course, I think we can all consider a stay at Disney’s Yacht Club a luxury in itself. That’s probably why I enjoy it so much.

The Disney Yacht Club Rooms

Yacht Club Rooms

Disclosure: This Disney Yacht Club rooms page contains affiliate links. Read  full Disclosure Policy .

The Disney Yacht Club has a stately atmosphere, fitting with the ships for which it was named. As soon as you enter the lobby, a mix of rich woods and deep color tones has a warm and luxurious vibe. This feeling carries into the rooms, which match the overall character of the resort.

The rooms of the Disney Yacht Club have a simple color palette – dark brown woods, neutral sandy hues, and ocean blue accents. Many of the furnishings also sport gold handles or accentuations that give both a touch of brightness and elegance. In this instance, simple is best, as you have that feeling of a luxury liner rather than something more kitschy. Even the Disney touches are more subdued, adding to the overall adult air of the Yacht Club.

Disney Yacht Club as seen across the water

Like the Beach Club , the Disney Yacht Club has a variety of rooms to fit the needs of your party.

However, with the emphasis being more on adults, you may find the rooms fit better for a “grown-up group” rather than a family.

With that in mind, let’s find you the perfect “cabin” for your Disney vacation !

Table of Contents

Room layouts.

  • Turret Suites
  • Captain’s Deck Suite
  • Admiral’s Suite

Standard Rooms at the Disney Yacht Club

Similar to other Disney resorts , the Disney Yacht Club separates its rooms into two categories – standard and club level.

Within each of these levels are different view options. Both indicate what you will see off your balcony or verandah and determine your location within the resort.

At the Yacht Club the three views are standard, garden or woods, and water.

Standard View

Standard views typically have the “undesirable” lookouts, like a rooftop, sidewalk, or parking lot.

However, if you don’t particularly care about the literal view outside your room, standard view can be awesome.

Standard view rooms, since they see the parking lot, are sometimes close to the parking lot. If you drove your own car, this is a blessing. These rooms also tend to be cheaper because of their view, which is great if you’re trying to save a few dollars!

As someone for whom the view does not matter, I would gladly take the price decrease versus a better view.

Garden & Woods View

Garden or woods view rooms look out over the gorgeous landscapes surrounding the Disney Yacht Club.

These looks vary from the cultivated gardens and flowers to the wooded area on the backside of the resort. If you like a tranquil view in the morning or evening, you might want to consider this option.

A woods view is also likely to be pretty quiet, as it does not look out onto the boardwalk or any of the main thoroughfares.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sisters Kitsch (@kneedeepinkitsch)

Water views give you the chance to gaze out over Crescent Lake or provide a good look at the quiet pool areas. Again, if you like to start your morning out on the balcony, a water view can be just the right thing for you.

Enjoy a warm cup of coffee or tea and watch the day start out on the boardwalk. It is peaceful and lovely, and you’re on the right side to appreciate the view without being blasted by the sun.

Even a view of the pool can be nice, although that runs the risk of being a bit louder. However, if you can see the pool, you are closer to the pool, which is a huge bonus.

Again, all the “view category” does is determine what you see and where you are in the resort.

When it comes to the actual components of the room, you need to consider the layout.

Layouts & Amenities

All the standard rooms have the same basic amenities:

  • Internet – Free WiFi Service
  • Coffee Maker
  • Mini-refrigerator
  • Telephone with voicemail
  • In-Room Safe
  • Iron & Ironing Board

While it may not seem like much, that coffee maker and mini-fridge make all the difference. Being able to wake up and make your own coffee in the morning is a lifesaver, especially if you need that caffeine fix to get yourself moving.

With the mini-fridge, you can bring snacks like yogurt and cheese sticks, or even store a small carton of milk for cereal in the morning. My family did this growing up, and it saved us time and money, particularly on park days.

All of the standard rooms at the Disney Yacht Club sleep five adults, which is nice if you’re traveling in a group or for work.

This does also mean that you could sleep a family in these rooms if you would prefer the Yacht Club to the Beach Club .

You can reserve a few different layout combinations:

  • Two Queen Beds & One Day Bed
  • One Queen Bed, One Twin-Size Sleeper Chair, & One Day Bed
  • One King Bed
  • One King Bed & One Day Bed

Depending on your party or the purpose of your trip, each layout has its own benefits.

Families would prefer the second option, while a group of three adults might prefer the first to avoid bed sharing.

Couples might like the third option, as it gives you more bed space and opens up the room at the same time.

The final option is nice if you’re traveling with just one child or you’re a couple traveling with another adult.

All of the views have a mix and match of these layouts, so when you’re booking just be sure to pay attention to the selection. If you have any questions or special requests, you can always call (407) 939-5277 and a Cast Member will help you out!

Disney Yacht Club Rooms with Club Level Amenities

Club Level puts you on a private Club-only floor, special amenities, and access to the Regatta Club lounge.

While the room layouts are generally the same, and the view options are also similar to the standard, it’s these bonus perks that you’re paying for the in Club Level price.

Typically, Club Level rooms will cost between $200-$250 more than the standard room of the same view, although prices are subject to change.

At the Club Level, you will have all the same amenities as a standard room with the addition of the following:

  • Evening turndown
  • Secured key access to the club-level lounge, the Regatta Club, serving refreshments 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily
  • Fax assistance
  • Newspapers in Club Level lounge
  • Health club access

You also check in separately up on the Club Level floor.

While turndown service and newspapers are nice, it’s the access to the Regatta Club that really makes this worth it.

As the food is always stocked, which means you can count on the Regatta Club as another place to get a quick meal.

Breakfast is by far the most popular time, so try to build in time to get your food and find a seat. That is particularly important if you’re going to the parks – don’t take for granted that this will be quick, because others will be thinking the same thing!

Get a look inside the Regatta Club with this video:

Room Layouts & Views

At the Club Level, all of the rooms are going to sleep four adults.

The views also make a difference in this instance, as the various views limit your options as far as the layout.

Standard view, which still looks out over the rooftops or parking lot, is the most limited in terms of options.

For these rooms, you can only get two queen beds or one king bed, with room for a cot or pack n’ play if you have kids.

This is largely because there are less standard view rooms at the Club Level, so it makes sense you would have fewer layout choices.

Garden View

Garden view rooms have that gorgeous landscape outlook that is perfect for nature lovers.

These rooms have three layout options – one king bed, two queen beds, or two queen beds and a day bed.

Particularly the last one would be good for families, as it gives you the ability to spread your kids out among the space. Even if you have three little (or not so little) ones, everyone will have a bed rather than a cot.

Water view rooms look out over Crescent Lake and the boardwalk, providing spectacular views in the morning as the sunrises and in the evening as the lights twinkle across the lake.

This is the most expensive view at the Club Level, partially because of this splendor.

In the water view rooms, your layout choices are one king bed, two queen beds with a day bed, just two queen beds, or one king bed and a day bed.

As you can see, there are plenty of configurations available to fit the need of any party! Even with the extra cost, it might be worth it to get just what you need for your party.

Disney Yacht Club Rooms – Living the Suite Life

One there is only one suite option at the Yacht Club, these two-room suites are gorgeous.

Considered part of the standard level of rooms, they aren’t on the Club Level floor and don’t have those benefits.

However, these suites have plenty of benefits all their own.

Turret Suite

Located in the turrets of the resort, plenty of natural light makes its way into the rooms to give the whole suite an open and airy feeling.

Because of their location, the suites do have a distinctive shape to them, adding to the charm and beauty of the place.

The color scheme of the suite matches the rest of the resort, with the simple nautical color palette and sophisticated air.

Natural wood floors complement the cream and blue furnishings, making you feel comfortable and spoiled all at once. Meanwhile the ship-themed décor is right on point, adding to the overall atmosphere. Again, because of the placement in the turret, the living room has a unique octagonal shape that adds a touch of fun without detracting from the glamour.

In the master bedroom, two guests enjoy the luxury of a king bed and their own ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom has two queen beds and its own bathroom, making this suite ideal for families with kids or two parties travelling together. Located in the hallway, a desk and third bathroom adds function and efficiency to the space.

Explore the suite with this walkthrough:

Captain’s Deck Suite

Opening on a beautiful entry hall with decorative wood flooring, you’ll feel like a guest of the captain in this incredible suite!

The color scheme stays true to the Yacht Club theme, with an increased emphasis on the navy blue tones.

Largest of all the rooms at the Disney Yacht Club, the Captain’s Deck Suite is great for a long, extended family vacation.

A massive living room includes a chess table and large couch, perfect for families settling in for an evening movie. The living room continues with navy as the primary tone, with cream and gold accents warming the space. Connected to the living room is a large dining room, containing a dining table that seats twelve guests!

Off the dining area is a service kitchen, missing only a stovetop and dishwasher. A full sink, refrigerator, microwave, and plenty of cabinet space more than make up for it! You are more than able to make some of your own simple meals with these kitchen amenities, which will save you time and money.

The master bedroom has a luxurious king bed and massive ensuite bathroom, giving you the opportunity to pamper yourself and relax on your vacation. A walk-in closet completes the master suite, so feel free to use the space to unpack. This is also a great place to put your suitcases so that they are out of the way. A guest bedroom with two queen beds is great for additional members of your group, including their own bathroom.

A private outdoor patio completes the space, providing a sheltered place to relax or enjoy a meal outside.

Check out this incredible suite with this video tour:

Admiral’s Suite

Walking into the Admiral’s Suite at the Disney Yacht Club, right away you feel the opulence. Gorgeous wood floors feature an incredible nautical star design, with dark woods and deep blue walls accenting the motif. Bright white walls with molding lighten the room while maintaining a sophisticated air.

Similar to the Captain’s Suite, the Admiral’s Suite has a large living area, complete with huge couch and a desk space. These suites are built for families or bigger groups, and the living room accommodates all your guests. A fireplace adds a nice touch in the living room, and you might want to use it in the cooler months. There’s also an additional living room space, with a cool octagonal shape similar to the Turret Suites.

In the dining room, a table has space for five, although you could add a high chair or squeeze in other chairs if needed. A small kitchenette with sink connects to the dining room, which helps to prepare simple meals or divide ordered-in food. Even getting a pizza and eating in the suite will save you money, and it gives you a chance to enjoy the suite! A half-bath completes the communal spaces.

Like the other suites, the Admiral Suite has a master bedroom with ensuite bath, while the second bedroom has two queen beds and its own bathroom. Having this much space is great when you’re travelling with multiple families and kids, it makes it so much easier to get going in the morning!

Check out the suite in this video:

Hotel with the best pool complex at Disney World: Review of Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Summer Hull

Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here .

When you think of a Florida theme park hotel, I'd bet you probably don't think of deep, rich colors, hardwoods and a refined turn-of-the-century, New England-style nautical-themed resort.

And when you think of a hotel pool, you likely don't conjure up images of a 3-acre waterpark complete with a life-size shipwreck replica that is home to a long, twisting, turning waterslide.

But all this, and actually a lot more, is precisely what you'll find at what has to be one of the best hotels at Disney World , Disney's Yacht Club Resort. In fact, when we picked this resort for a short Florida getaway, we actually considered not spending any days in the Disney theme parks to go along with it. We amended that plan for one day at Epcot, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to do an entire vacation here without getting on a single ride. In this case, the resort could be the destination.

Disney's Yacht Club (1990) opened in the same era of rapid Disney World development as Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort (1988), and both share a type of ocean theme. However, the two couldn't be more different from one another. With just over 600 rooms (compared to more than 1,500 at Caribbean Beach), this deluxe Disney resort offers guests a vacation within a vacation both in terms of comfort and amenities.

After a recent stay at the property, it was all I could do to not add another night when the time to check out unfortunately arrived. And while not everything is postcard-perfect at this Disney resort at the moment, I promised myself (and my kids) we'd be back. It's that special.

yacht club disney balcony

Let's start with some bad news: Disney's Yacht Club is often expensive.

This is one of Disney's deluxe resorts and there is no Disney Vacation Club wing of this hotel. This means you can't rent DVC points to potentially book a room for less the way you can at places such as Polynesian Village Resort. (Note that you can do this at the neighboring Beach Club Resort.)

If you can snag a room during a sale or with a solid discount, you can probably get the rate down to $350-$400 per night, but it's unlikely to go much lower. It's common for rooms here to go for $500 and up, especially once standard rooms are sold out and you need to pay even more for a water view, which is precisely what I had to do. The view itself is (in my mind) not actually worth an upcharge, but sometimes that's all that's available.

yacht club disney balcony

While I booked during a 30% off sale, my water-view room at the Yacht Club still came to just over $500 per night. There are some ways to use points for Disney World vacations , such as using miles from the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card to offset the expense at a 1 cent = 1 mile valuation , but there's no way to get outsize value for your credit card points at Disney properties.

If you do decide to book a Disney resort like this one, it can make sense to go through a Disney Vacation Planner as that doesn't add to your cost and they do a great job staying on the lookout for sales and discounts and keeping track of all those ever-changing components of a trip to Disney World.

No doubt it sounds a touch insane to spend $500 for a theme park-adjacent hotel room, but the location is one reason why Disney's Yacht Club commands that rate (and often sells out).

This hotel is just a 5-10 minute walk from the World Showcase entrance of Epcot. It is also within walking distance of Disney's Hollywood Studios, or you can hop on a boat to take you there since that walk is a bit longer.

Being so close to Epcot also means that the Skyliner stop at Epcot is within very easy reach, opening up even more Disney locations such as the Riviera Resort , Caribbean Beach Resort and more.

Yacht Club is also an incredibly short stroll away from the BoardWalk, which is home to even more shops and restaurants.

yacht club disney balcony

I'm happy to save money and stay off Disney property on the first night of the trip, or for trips when we aren't going for an all-in Disney family vacation. But when we do go all-in on Disney World, I want to be in the "Disney bubble." Staying at Yacht Club puts you in the heart of the Disney bubble, well-cushioned in your own deluxe nautical-themed space, but just an arm's reach from lots of great Disney dining and entertainment options.

Related: Guide to visiting Walt Disney World

We arrived at Disney's Yacht Club in the early afternoon, after starting the vacation off with a character brunch at Topolino's Terrace at the top of the nearby Disney Riviera Resort . (Which I highly recommend you add to your to-do list if you love characters and can snag a reservation.)

Since we arrived a few hours before official check-in time, I didn't have high hopes our room would be ready, given the era of pandemic precautions, but that became the first pleasant surprise of the trip when Room 2077 was ready and waiting for us several hours early.

yacht club disney balcony

Check-in is also where we were informed that while room service has returned as an option for breakfast and dinner, regular housekeeping had not yet returned to Disney resorts . Towels and trash would be attended to every other day. For our two-night stay, that meant there would be no formal housekeeping services, though we could ask for more towels and such.

yacht club disney balcony

If you are able to manage stairs, you can easily access the second level of the resort — where we stayed — via the lobby without using the elevators.

yacht club disney balcony

In fact, heading up the lobby stairs reveals some fun touches, such as a ship's wheel, among other themed decor.

yacht club disney balcony

Our room was a bit of a walk down several hallways, so if that's an issue, ask for a room closer to the lobby if available.

yacht club disney balcony

Inside a room at Disney's Yacht Club, you aren't going to find bright colors, Disney characters or loud decor. If that's what you want, I recommend Disney's Art of Animation , which has plenty of color and characters.

Yacht Club was renovated in recent years to appeal not only to traditional Disney vacationers but also to conventiongoers who frequently stay at the resort during normal times. And in this case, everyone won with a redesign that maintained the overall theme but upgraded the offerings.

yacht club disney balcony

The rooms still carry out the resort's high-end nautical theme, but in a way that is elegant and more refined than the previous 1990s-era version.

Like with other Disney resort upgrades, the beds are now raised and the floors are now hard instead of carpet. As Disney renovated rooms across its properties, this has been the standard it is changing to.

yacht club disney balcony

There's a pullout sofa that can be used as a sleeper and a small writing desk.

yacht club disney balcony

Most notably, there were outlets everywhere. We travel with a lot of things that need charging and we didn't come close to using them all up. Some furnishings may be made to look like turn-of-the-century New England, but they are loaded with modern-day power.

yacht club disney balcony

The two queen beds were perfect for a good night's rest after a busy day at Disney.

In the room, you'll also find a minifridge and Keurig.

yacht club disney balcony

We were impressed with the amount of storage the room had in the form of shelves, racks, cubbies and drawers. We were able to stay far more organized than normal with a family's worth of stuff, thanks to the storage options.

yacht club disney balcony

There was a balcony with two chairs that overlooked a well-manicured green lawn and technically some water. Remember, this was a pricier water-view room after all.

yacht club disney balcony

I adored the drapes, both because they did a great job keeping light out in the morning but also because they were adorable and perfect for the room, featuring constellations.

Like at many other similar Disney resorts, the bathroom had a vanity with two sinks located in a cubby between the main room and the bathroom, so it could be used while someone was in the shower.

yacht club disney balcony

The bathroom area had a sliding door for both the room itself and the tub/shower combo. There were plenty of Disney H2O+ bath products in the shower and bathroom area.

yacht club disney balcony

We found the room incredibly nice, but do know that it doesn't take much to hear what's going on in the hallway or other rooms around you. If you like total silence, you'll be well-served to pack some earplugs and a white noise app to go along with your Mickey ears.

Related: Why you need more than just a ticket to get into Disney World this summer

The Yacht Club room is plenty comfortable, but that's probably not why you stay at Disney's Yacht Club — it's certainly not why we paid what we did to stay here.

Stormalong Bay pool complex

What makes this resort so special is the 3-acre pool complex shared with the neighboring Disney Beach Club Resort.

yacht club disney balcony

Dubbed Stormalong Bay, this pool complex has everything from a 230-foot waterslide to a lazy river, whirlpool, shallow splash area, toddler slide, hot tubs and more. It even has a sandy bottom in some of the areas, which feels so much nicer on your tired Disney feet than a hard surface.

yacht club disney balcony

This pool area is almost a mini-waterpark and certainly worthy of planning some time in your schedule just to enjoy it. Right now, it can get busy to the point where there is no way to get in during peak times.

However, we had a blast also going late at night after the parks closed, when there were very few people in the pool at all. While the hours can vary, it was open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. during our stay.

yacht club disney balcony

There are four cabanas at the pool you can book if you want extra space and service, but you need to reserve well in advance if you want those because they go quickly.

yacht club disney balcony

Getting into the pool requires verification you are a resort guest and you're then assigned the colored wristband of the day to wear. There's plenty of towels at the pool, as well as a small army of lifeguards keeping a close watch on the various areas of the pool.

Stormalong Bay is adjacent to Hurricane Hanna's Waterside Bar & Grill, so it's pretty easy to pop over there and order a snack or cocktail. The $12 seafood roll turned out to be a perfect snack for us.

yacht club disney balcony

My 11-year-old gave the $6 Lava Smoothie (made of raspberry, coconut and pineapple flavors) high marks and my $14 Frosé was excellent.

Whether your group is made up of adults, some teens, tweens or toddlers, this pool area is truly excellent, especially if you build in some time to enjoy it when most people are sleeping, eating or in the Disney parks.

yacht club disney balcony

Evening movies on the beach

Several nights per week at 8 p.m., a Disney movie is shown along the "beach" at the Yacht Club. This is free to enjoy and the week we were there the films showing were "Zootopia," "Sleeping Beauty," "A Bug's Life" and "Disneynature: Earth."

I'll never fully understand who needs a treadmill at Disney when it's normal to walk 10 miles a day in the park, but Yacht Club has those and more in its gym that overlooks Stormalong Bay.

yacht club disney balcony

Magical Express Bus

Until the end of 2021, if you want to take the included Magical Express Bus transportation to and from the Orlando airport, that's available to those who stay at this and any other full-fledged Disney resort hotel. If you decide to self-park at Yacht Club, it's going to cost you $25 per night. The upside is that the fee also gives you access to parking at the Disney theme parks at no additional charge.

The Magical Express Bus stop is right in front of the hotel entrance, and the bus stop to go to the various Disney theme parks is just to the side of the hotel entrance.

yacht club disney balcony

Still-closed amenities

If you remember when I mentioned there are still some small bumps at Yacht Club, here's where they begin.

Those looking for the ultimate, once-in-a-lifetime Yacht Club experience may want to hold off a tiny bit longer if you want to experience all the amenities. The Club Lounge remains closed, as does one of the main sit-down restaurants.

On top of that, the onsite Ship Shape Salon is still closed, along with the Lafferty Place Arcade.

Normally, you can rent boats or even sign your kids up for a pirate-themed adventure that leaves from the dock outside of the Yacht Club, but all of that is also still on pause.

We had plenty to do for a few days without any of those amenities, but just keep in mind that some things remain shuttered for now.

Ale & Compass Restaurant

Just off the lobby of Yacht Club is a dark, subdued restaurant called Ale & Compass. While you do need reservations to eat breakfast or dinner here, it's one of the easier reservations to get at Disney World.

Described as "Yankee comfort food," this menu has options such as lobster-and-corn chowder; a fantastic salad called the Ale & Compass salad with additions such as pumpkin seeds and beets; steak; pasta; and a burger with bacon and Vermont cheddar served with thick fries.

Getting good photos in the dark restaurant was next to impossible, but we enjoyed our salad and burger.

yacht club disney balcony

And while we didn't eat breakfast here, I've heard good things about the dark chocolate waffles.

Our service here was quite friendly but incredibly slow. The wait for our reservation was pretty extensive, followed by another wait for a server to arrive at our table to start the meal-ordering process. This is likely at least in part due to the restaurant having a brisk business of to-go orders that you can make from the Disney app, along with the other sit-down restaurant at the hotel remaining closed.

Ale & Compass Lounge

Another alternative to the restaurant is the adjacent Ale & Compass Lounge, which also has a sleek, updated, but pretty dark look once day turns to night.

In the back of the lounge is a bar, with the front portion offering a variety of seating options and a reduced menu that still includes the burger and chowder.

The Market at Ale & Compass

In the gift shop area of the hotel is the Market at Ale & Compass, where you can order grab-and-go options in the Disney app.

yacht club disney balcony

We tried the $12 breakfast bowl that had a little bit of everything on it and was actually almost enough food for myself and two kids for a quick pre-park breakfast.

yacht club disney balcony

The $7 ham and cheese breakfast sandwich on a pretzel roll also looked really solid.

In the afternoon and evening, you'll find a variety of sandwiches, a hot dog and a panini on the menu.

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop

If you're going to splurge cash on staying at the Yacht Club, I highly recommend also splurging some calories at Beaches and Cream. You're going to need to make a reservation here well in advance (dining reservations are accepted 60 days before your trip) or get very lucky.

yacht club disney balcony

We planned our trip pretty close-in and were never able to snag advance reservations, but got lucky with timing that they had an outdoor table available for us to order the most exciting item on the menu ... the Kitchen Sink.

This $35 sink of ice cream is made of eight scoops (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream and mint) along with every single topping in the house. Oh, and there's also an entire can of whipped cream on top.

yacht club disney balcony

It's epic, huge, ridiculous and a lot of fun.

The three of us barely put a dent in it but certainly had fun trying.

There are more regular-sized ice cream options on the menu, too, but if you're doing a once-in-a-lifetime trip, try this once-in-a-lifetime dessert.

yacht club disney balcony

Should you want more than just sugar for your meal, this is also where you'll find burgers, sandwiches, chili and other 1950s classic-style treats.

Yachtsman Steakhouse

This second sit-down restaurant has not yet reopened, but when it does, this is where you can go for those post-convention expensed sales dinners ... or a very nice meal out for two. The menu features a $135 seafood tower, prime porterhouse, lobster, filet mignon, elk, lobster and other similar entrees that start around $50.

Overall impressions

I'm a total and complete sucker for a well-themed, well-located Disney World resort. Resorts such as this one, along with Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and others, have me hook, line and wallet.

yacht club disney balcony

For me, the resort hotel isn't just a place to sleep at night, it's also a destination much like the theme parks themselves. I enjoy the scent in the lobby, the storyline of the property, the Disney touches throughout and the convenience of being fully immersed in Disney magic.

While my kids vetoed the idea, I'd have been totally happy having Disney's Yacht Club Resort serve as our actual final destination for the weekend with no park time at all. However, since it is such an easy walk to Epcot, adding that park on was actually a whole lot of fun, too.

If what you want is just a decent bed close to the parks, don't stay here. You're probably overpaying to stay at Yacht Club if you don't truly value the Stormalong Bay pool area. You can stay at the next-door Disney Swan and Dolphin for a fraction of the cash if you're just after location.

And right now, with some amenities still closed, I don't recommend staying here if you are going to be upset when things aren't 100% full service and perfect. The prices are as high as ever to match demand, so don't expect a reduced price to match the reduced amenities.

But if you can overlook a few things and what you want is a fun, slightly grown-up hotel theme, a great location, access to the best resort pool at Disney World and easy access to multiple restaurants, Disney's Yacht Club Resort is now officially one of my favorite Disney hotels — and one that I can't wait to return to in the coming years.

Deluxe Resort

Immerse yourself in luxury from stem to stern at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, a nautical-themed property that’s cultured enough for an admiral, yet still kid-friendly.

Somewhat more sedate than its Beach Club Resort sister, with which it shares the coolest pool in all of Walt Disney World, the 621-room resort features full balconies in most rooms, a first-rate steakhouse that caters to both junior and adult palates, an onsite convention center and Concierge Club service at the Regatta Club lounge.

Designed by Robert A.M. Stern, the property opened in 1990 and is reminiscent of the sprawling Shingle-style resorts common in seaside New England towns at the turn of the century. A gray-and-white clapboard exterior is accented by steep gables and red-and-white striped awnings, and inside, oak floors, gleaming brass, and extensive millwork help evoke a nautical atmosphere throughout.

Besides enjoying an array of recreational activities available to visitors to both Disney’s Beach Club and Disney’s Yacht Club resorts, ship-loving guests can board a boat bound for Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, embark on a Pirate adventure cruise, or charter a pontoon and enjoy a guided fishing excursion or private viewing of Epcot’s nightly Illuminations fireworks show.

Room Information

Find the best price for your stay.

Renovated in 2009, guestrooms are decked out in a crisp white-and-navy color scheme with nautical stripes, and feature luxurious bedding and plush mattresses. Special seafaring touches include headboards designed to resemble ships wheels, marble vanities with twin porthole-style mirrors, a classic character captain desk lamp and several rope-themed Hidden Mickeys.

Spacious by Disney standards, standard guestrooms sleep up to five, plus one crib sleeper for guests under the age of 3. Most standard guestrooms contain two queen beds, and many rooms have a daybed, as well. Priority for daybed rooms is given to families of five and there is a surcharge per night, per adult for more than two adults in a room. Rollaway beds are available for a fee, and the resort will deliver complimentary Pack 'N Plays, bedrails or a microwave to your room upon request.

Unlike rooms at its Beach Club neighbor, where smaller standing balconies are common, most rooms at Disney's Yacht Club feature a full balcony. First-floor rooms contain pleasant patios (non-gated), and both balconies and patio setups include tables and chairs.

In addition to a desk/dining table with two chairs, a flat-screen TV, an alarm clock with an iPod docking station and high-speed Internet access, each room is equipped with a wall-mounted hair dryer, a coffee maker and a dresser/cabinet housing a mini-fridge (bring a hair tie or a zip tie to secure if you're traveling with little ones).

You can upgrade from a Standard room to a Standard Club Level room, which will gain you plush robes, a DVD player with complimentary rentals and other Concierge category privileges. Besides four daily food and beverage presentations at the private Regatta Club lounge, Club Level guests enjoy perks like personal onsite assistance and pre-trip itinerary planning.

Parents who don't want to be prisoners of the dark after the kids crash for the night have a number of space-stretching options. If you have the extra cash, you can book connecting rooms or else spring for one of the Club Level suites, which accommodate four to eight people and have separate living and sleeping areas. Of course, you could always check in to the Beach Club Villas next door -- these home-away-from-home Disney Vacation Club accommodations offer flexible room arrangements, plus some additional family-friendly features like a washer and dryer and a full kitchen.

If you're traveling with an infant and no additional children and want to stick with the standard room, you can gain some privacy by placing your child's crib in the bathroom vanity area, which is separated from the rest of the room by a dividing wall. For easy access to the Stormalong Bay pool complex, as well as Marketplace counter-service dining and the Transportation Dock, families might consider requesting a room close to Disney's Beach Club Resort.

My wife and I are celebrating our 50th anniversary and her 70th birthday at WDW with our son and his family as I write this. We decided to pay more than we ever have in our life together for a room at the Yacht Club. It is a great, well-located property with a very courteous staff. The beds are good and our first floor room has a nice view. The room is clean, mostly, but has quite a bit of dust on some flat surfaces, such as the open shelves in the wardrobe. We would have no real reason to complain, except that for over $400 per night one would think that there would be hot water for baths and showers early in the morning h(I.e, 4 to 6 a.m.). Instead, after letting the water run for at least five minutes, all we get is a 94 degree F water temp (taken with a digital thermometer). Not good. We reported this to a manager yesterday. He sent a maintenance person to our room later in the morning and the hot water was ok (we confirm that as it seems to begin getting warmer at about 6:30). He apologized for the problem and credited out account with $200, which was a nice gesture, but did not correct the problem. It’s our second morning here now and the same issue exists. Specifically, it is 6:49 a.m. right now and the water is just beginning to get warm. We have stayed in economy chains that had hot water 24/7, so this situation is really disappointing. It certainly takes some of the “magic” out of our celebration.

by MuchLovefromCanada

Tried to book a Cabana at the yacht club. Ran into several difficulties but the most concerning was the front line lady I dealt with. She had no idea how to handle our situation and instead of reaching out to someone (possibly a manager) sent us on wild goose chase number two of the day. Despite her curtness ???? (you know that person who is being polite but because they have to... completely insinser and wants you to know, yes Debby that was you!) and lacking knowledge that you should know being front line staff. We ended up booking the Cabana but it was not made easy. A simple fix I hope in the future as we definitely LOVED the cabana's. ****And Travis**** If your lucky enough to have Travis as your Beach Cabana attendent then your in good hands! Honest ones to boot! (my husband left his Panama jack sunglasses behind, only to have front desk call our room within 30 minutes that they were turned in) Thank you Travis! ❤️ Honestly will take you far in life! Your good people! Let me begin by giving credit where it is due. By happenstance I met Phil who is one of the managers at the yacht club the very day of all the difficulties. Clearly Phil was on the ball. By simply touring the area and begin polite and friendly he engaged in a conversation with myself. Which led to me telling him what had happened thus far on our trip. In Disney fashion Phil was quick to make things right. This is why we always return to Disney's Yacht club. I have reviewed this place in the past and stand my ground that the service here is fantastic. When something is wrong they are quick to fix and sort things out. Thank-you to Phil. His kindness made my daughter's day. (As well as ours). ????

Family Activities

Stormalong Bay Pool Considered to be the best in all of Walt Disney World, this three-acre water park style pool sits on the shores of Crescent Lake and features a sandy bottom, a 230-foot shipwreck waterslide and three separate lagoons with whirlpools, waterspouts and a circular lazy river. Good luck trying to peel your party away from the splash-happy action -- and honestly, how could you blame them for protesting? Kids big and small can play for hours in the shallow-sand lagoon, and there are two separate kiddie pools, including one with its own pint-sized waterslide. Room keys are checked at pool entrances, and guests are issued official resort wristbands, which afford all-day water-play access.

Organized activities for kids and families begin around 1 p.m., with the majority occurring poolside and in the water. Daily itineraries range from rubber duck races and bucket relays to Disney family trivia contests and karaoke dance parties.

Swim vests are available for free at Poolside Gifts (resort key card needed), where you can also rent inner tubes or buy pool noodles, sunscreen and swim diapers (required for non-potty trained trained children). An army of lifeguards staffs the pool, but given its size and design, families with multiple children might find it difficult (and unsettling) keeping tabs.

On the Yacht Club side of the pool, there's a shaded playground and near the beachfront promenade, a Hair Wrap Station and a design-your-own jewelry kiosk called the Pearl Factory give guests more opportunities to shell out their Disney dollars.

Lafferty Place Arcade Offering around 60 games, the pool-area fun spot is open from 7 a.m. to midnight.

Admiral Quiet Pool and Tennis Court For those seeking calm and a clean set of clothes, the non-guarded Admiral Quiet Pool (hours 7 a.m. to midnight) is located in a remote corner of the resort, adjacent to a lighted tennis court (hours 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; equipment available at Ship Shape Health Club) and a coin-operated laundry facility. Towels are available.

Bayside Marina Rent bikes and take a trip along the BoardWalk, or borrow a boat and cruise Crescent Lake. Half-hour boat rental options range from Sea Raycers ($32) to Sun Trackers and Boston Whalers ($45 each), and bike rentals are $9 per hour or $18 per day. Training wheels and baby seats are also available (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Albatross Treasure Cruise Recommended for ages 3 to 12, but probably most appreciated by kids 5 to 10, the two-hour nautical scavenger hunt departs 9:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with stops at "Ports of Call" along Crescent Lake and Epcot. The $36-per-child fee includes a snack and some loot. Call 407-939-7529 for reservations.

Crescent Lake Beach Here, you'll find a sand volleyball court, lounge chairs for sunning and nightly campfire sing-a-longs with marshmallows (free), followed by complimentary star-lit showings of popular Disney movies. Swimming is prohibited.

Sandcastle Club Located off the Beach Club lobby, the onsite childcare center for kids ages 3 to 12 (formerly 4 to 12) offers a number of activities for older children, too, like Wii, PlayStation, board games and puzzles, as well as plenty of playthings for little ones, like a dress-up corner, a kitchen center and lots of vehicles to rev and race. You can check out the staff and the facilities -- and bring kids of all ages along for the fun -- when the Club hosts complimentary Craft Time from 1 to 3 p.m. daily. Club hours are 4:30 p.m. to midnight. Cost is $11.50 per hour, per child; 24-hour advance reservations (407-939-3463) are requested.

Family Dining

Captain's Grille Buffet or a la carte breakfast and a lunch menu featuring New England specialties like clam chowder and lobster rolls are the early-day highlights for adults at this nautical dining room. For kids, there are Mickey waffles for breakfast and cheese pizza and a selection of fun kabobs for lunch and dinner. Hours are 7:30 to 11 a.m. for breakfast, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and 5 to 9 p.m. for dinner. Call 407-939-3463 for reservations.

Yachtsman Steakhouse Kids (ages 9 and under) can order steak skewers, grilled chicken, baked fish or pasta with marinara or cheese sauce at this upscale steakhouse, specializing in oak-grilled meats and seafood. For dessert, kids' choices include a chocolate Mickey Puzzle with edible paint or a chocolate brownie with vanilla gelato. Hours are 5 to 9:30 p.m. daily. Call 407-939-3463 for reservations well in advance.

Ale & Compass Lounge Continental-style breakfast is served daily in this small, nautically themed lounge adjacent to the lobby registration area. Choices include cereal, muffins, Danish, fresh fruit and coffee, and cartoons for kids are shown in the seating area, which includes a few small tables and a couch. More tables are available on the porch outdoors. Hours are 6 a.m. to noon for breakfast and 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. daily.

Crew's Cup Lounge Besides an open window where you can watch butchers prepare cuts of meat for grilling, cocktails, snacks and sporting shows on widescreen televisions are the highlights at this casual maritime-themed lounge, located next to the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Lunch selections are available from 12 to 5 p.m., dinner is served from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. and a separate appetizer menu is available. Disney Dining Plan credits are not accepted.

Hurricane Hanna's Grill This casual spot by Stormalong Bay Pool serves kids meals in a sand pail, along with a shovel. Kids' choices include a cheeseburger, grilled cheese, grilled chicken sandwich and chicken nuggets -- all come with a choice of 1 percent milk or water, as well as carrots and watermelon. Whole fruit, hummus with veggies, chocolate chip cookies, frozen lemonade and gelato are on the snack menu. Lunch is served, and Hurricane Hanna's Grill has seasonal hours.

Disney's Beach Club At the Yacht Club's next-door neighbor, your can stretch your palate and you pocketbook at four additional drink and dine venues. Options include Beaches & Cream Soda Shop (11 a.m. to 11 p.m.), Cape May Cafe (7:30 to 11 a.m. and 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.), Beach Club Marketplace (7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; limited seating) and Martha's Vineyard Lounge (5:30 p.m. to midnight).

In-Room Dining Kids can enjoy Mickey waffles or cookies and milk in their pajamas, or choose from a selection of the usual favorites like hot dogs and chicken nuggets. Whole pizzas are available from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and you can order up an in-room Pizza Party ($55) for four.

Refillable Mugs Refillable mugs can be purchased for unlimited hot and cold (non-alcoholic) drink refills at Ale & Compass Lounge and Hurricane Hanna's Grill, as well as at Beach Club Marketplace and Beaches & Cream at Disney's Beach Club Resort. Prices vary according to length of stay.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras From lobby greeters decked out in ship-shape costumes to steakhouse staff who go out of their way to make meals comfortable for families, cast members at this resort have a classy way of welcoming kids, while catering to a steady stream of conventioneers and adult travelers.

Overnight guests enjoy a number of special perks, like early-entry and late-stay theme park privileges (Extra Magic Hours), free onsite transportation, free parking, the ability to make FASTPASS+ reservations 60 days in advance and the opportunity to participate in a Disney Dining Plan with a Magic Your Way Package. Additional family-friendly privileges include online room check-in (up to 10 days in advance), resort airline check-in and airport transportation service via Disney's Magical Express.

Stormalong Pool Area Services Ship Shape Health Club offers some of the latest in exercise equipment, as well as massages (by appointment). An attendant is on duty from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and access is available 24 hours with a venue-activated resort keycard. Next door, you can get a quick haircut or a pedicure at the tiny but welcoming Periwigs Beauty & Barber Shop (open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily).

In-Room Babysitting Kids Nite Out, an independent agency, provides in-room resort childcare. A four-hour minimum and a caregiver transportation fee are required.

The Art of Smart Timing When traveling to Walt Disney World Resort, it's best to avoid peak travel periods. Generally, these times include holidays and the summer months -- in other words, any time schools are out of session. If you do opt to visit in summertime, pack sunscreen, hydrate frequently and, unless you want to squander your souvenir money on ponchos at the parks, don't forget your raingear.

Fortunately for travelers on a budget, the least expensive times to visit Walt Disney World theme parks (Value Season) tend to coordinate with dates when crowds are the lightest. If your kids aren't in school yet, September is a great time to visit. Another prime time is after Thanksgiving through early December, when parks and resorts are decked out in holiday splendor.

Getting There From Orlando International Airport (MCO), free roundtrip airport transportation via motor coach is available to guests (advance reservation required; limited hours) via Disney's Magical Express. By car, take the South Exit Road from Orlando International Airport to SR 417 Toll Road (GreeneWay) West and follow signs to Walt Disney World/Disney's Yacht Club Resort.

Getting Around You can reach Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios via walkway, and complimentary daily boat service is provided to and from these parks, as well. Free transportation to and from the Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney water parks and Downtown Disney is provided by bus.

For Mom and Dad If you're celebrating a special occasion, consider a splurge-worthy Evening Fireworks Specialty Cruise on Crescent Lake (call 407-939-7529 for reservations). Alternatively, and at no cost whatsoever, you can view Epcot's Illuminations show -- as well as the brightly lit BoardWalk Resort -- from a swing on the sandy beach or from a bench along the beachfront promenade.

At Disney’s Yacht Club Resort , all rooms have a full balcony or patio.

Enjoy the close proximity to Epcot’s World Showcase . While there is a boat launch available at Epcot, you can get there faster by walking.

You can access Disney’s Hollywood Studios by boat. You may also enjoy a brisk walk around the BoardWalk down to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In general, you may find the boat ride shorter than walking to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

These resorts offer one of the best pools on Walt Disney World property. While separate, the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts share the pool area. There is a “shipwreck” that offers the entry point to the main water slide. Some areas of the pool have a sandy bottom.

These resort hotels are located near the BoardWalk, offering a short walk to additional restaurants and nightlife that do not require park admission.

Sometimes Disney’s bus transportation may share buses with the other resort hotels in the Epcot area around the BoardWalk. If you find yourself stopping at multiple stops, you may want to get off at the first stop and just walk the rest of the way. This is sometimes quicker than stopping at each resort hotel if the bus loop is being shared with multiple resorts.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Review: Standard View Room

Disney’s Yacht Club is a beautiful deluxe resort at Disney World within walking distance of Epcot and several other resorts . Take a tour of our Yacht Club room and find out why this is one of our favorite Disney World resorts.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is considered an Epcot area resort and located next to Disney’s Beach Club Resort with many shared amenities. Yacht Club is a short walk to Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Villas and Epcot’s International Gateway.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Overview

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort has an upscale nautical ambiance. The lobby has a huge globe over a round, compass inspired rug. The lobby has several seating areas where you can relax while enjoying the sophisticated decor.

Blue hues of varying shades, white wainscoting, and a large globe welcome guests to Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Railings along the second floor of Yacht Club Resort alternate traditional railings and wooden panels with an embossed ship’s wheel. There are also rope swags along the railing. The carpets throughout the resort have ships and compasses to continue the nautical feel as you walk to your room.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Pools

Blue skies above showcase Stormalong Bay's sand bottomed pool, lazy river, and giant water slide

One of the best things about Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is Stormalong Bay which is so much more than a normal hotel pool. Stormalong Bay is a 3-acre (12000-sq-m) shared water park area for both Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club resorts.

We generally don’t reserve a lot of pool time on our vacations, but Stormalong Bay is our favorite Disney World pool. This means we always pack a swimsuit when staying at Yacht Club to enjoy a dip in the sand covered pool or float on the lazy river.

Stormalong Bay has one of the highest hotel slides at Disney World which is an impressive 230 feet (70 m) long. Although the slide is extremely fun, guests must access the slide by leaving the pool area and crossing a walkway connecting several hotels to Epcot.

Families with small children may not be comfortable letting kids head to the slide alone because of this often crowded and unmonitored walkway.

After crossing the walkway, climb to the top of a huge shipwreck replica before plunging down to the pool below. There is also a smaller water slide for younger, or less adventurous guests, of Disney’s Yacht Club.

An impressive "shipwreck" is a giant water slide at Disney's Yacht Club

Stormalong Bay’s lazy river winds around one section of the water park with free tubes available near the entrance. Looking for something a little simpler? Yacht Club also has a small leisure pool near the tennis courts.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Dining

There are several dining and lounge options located in Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club complex. I’ll cover a few of our favorites below. Check here for a complete listing of dining options.

Yachtsman Steakhouse

Disney's Yacht Club Resort is a beautiful deluxe resort located near Epcot. Find out more about Yacht Club Resort and our standard view room experience. #disneysyachtclub #disneyworld #disneyresort #familytravel #disneyvacation

I was worried that this fine dining restaurant at Yacht Club might be a bit stuffy, since it is one of only a handful of Disney World restaurants with a dress code. However, we saw lots of families and many groups without kids enjoying the warm ambiance of Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner.

While waiting to be seated we got to watch a butcher hand-trim steaks and some of the chefs working in a partially open kitchen area. This was a great way to get excited about our meal.

I thought the quality of our meal was good, and we liked the atmosphere of Yachtsman Steakhouse. I would definitely go there again if I had time for a nice sit-down dinner.

Cape May Cafe

Minnie dons a mesh and pink sun hat with her gorgeous pink, blue, and purple striped wrap dress at Cape May Cafe breakfast with Minnie

Located just off the main lobby of Beach Club Resort, Cape May Cafe is open for breakfast and dinner daily. Breakfast is a fun character buffet featuring Minnie and some friends . Dinner is also a buffet, which heavily features seafood dishes.

Beaches and Cream

Disney's Yacht Club Resort is a beautiful deluxe resort located near Epcot. Find out more about Yacht Club Resort and our standard view room experience. #disneysyachtclub #disneyworld #disneyresort #familytravel #disneyvacation

This fun diner is near Stormalong Bay in between Yacht Club and Beach Club. Beaches and Cream serves burgers and sandwiches for lunch and dinner, but for us their ice cream is the main event.

Beaches and Cream is a popular restaurant with limited tables, booths, and counter seats even after a big expansion and remodel. Make advanced dining reservations 60 days before your trip for the best availability, but keep checking for last-minute reservations if you don’t at first succeed.

No reservation, but you only want some ice cream treats? No problem! Order take-out shakes, ice cream, and floats at the walk-up window.

My favorite Beaches and Cream treat is an ice cream sandwich of vanilla ice cream wedged between two huge chocolate chip cookies . I get one of these delicious ice cream sandwiches any time I am near Beaches and Cream.

Review Of Disney Yacht Club Resort Standard View Room

Disney's Yacht Club Resort is a beautiful deluxe resort located near Epcot. Find out more about Yacht Club Resort and our standard view room experience. #disneysyachtclub #disneyworld #disneyresort #familytravel #disneyvacation

Entering the Yacht Club Resort Standard View Room I immediately noticed several things. The room feels open and spacious with great nautical details throughout.

Laminate floors and thoughtful spacing allows the room to sleep up to five guests without feeling cramped. We’ve stayed in two different room configurations: two queen beds plus a day bed that transforms from a couch to a twin-size bed and a more traditional two queen room.

Please note that a Yacht Club Resort Standard View room can have any of the following configurations: 2 Queen Beds and 1 Day Bed or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Twin-Size Sleeper Chair and 1 Day Bed or 1 King Bed or 1 King Bed and 1 Day Bed.

Just inside the entrance to the room is a small coffee station with Keurig coffee maker nestled on top of a trunk. This trunk conceals a small beverage cooler.

The Yacht Club Resort beverage coolers hold less than the traditional mini fridges found at other Disney World resorts. A half gallon of milk only fits sideways on the shelf and bottled waters are also a tight fit.

For a short stay the smaller fridge isn’t a problem, but may be annoying when staying for a longer vacation with lots of groceries.

Disney's Yacht Club spacious closets are well organized with multiple compartments

A huge wooden closet along the entryway contains an in-room safe, several shelves, a full length mirror, and areas for hanging long and short items. Find an iron and foldable ironing board on one of the closet shelves.

Yacht Club Standard Room Bedroom Area

From the entryway you can see the entire bedroom area. The bedroom decor is a mix of dark wood with cream, navy, and brass accents. If you need more storage space than the closet provides, there is a large dresser in the room just below the wall mounted television. This dresser also has several electrical outlets which is extra helpful now that we are using Magic Band+.

In the two queen plus day bed configuration the couch/day bed is a great way to have seating during the day plus additional sleeping space at night. The two queen room option only has the desk chair and a upholstered chair with matching ottoman.

The beds have a bedside table between them. On the other side of the bed where normally there is nothing the standard room at Yacht Club had a little shelf with an outlet. This is a perfect spot for someone to charge a phone overnight and still use it as an alarm.

The room also has a desk and chair. The desk is actually two different pieces: the normal desk and a rolling table underneath. This gives extra table space in case you want to eat in the room, write, or draw.

The Yacht Club Resort Standard Room has a sliding glass door leading out to a small patio or balcony. There are cute blackout curtains on the window and door leading to the balcony. Look closely at the curtains to find fake constellations of some favorite Disney characters.

Yacht Club standard view rooms can have a view of anything , but are generally parking lots or roofs. Sometimes we’ve been surprised with a nicer view, but that shouldn’t be the expectation when booking the standard view rooms.

Yacht Club balconies have privacy walls on both sides of the balcony plus two chairs and a small side table. This makes it a nice place to relax especially if you have a little one taking a nap or a teen sleeping in.

Yacht Club Standard Room Bathroom Area

The Yacht Club bathroom is just inside the entryway opposite the closet. The bathroom has the split configuration where the sinks are in one room and the shower/toilet in a small separate area.

At first I was concerned that the door to the bathroom is a sliding barn door.  Sometimes this style door doesn’t close fully, but this one was great. In fact, the sliding door to the bathroom even has a soft-close feature so it can’t be accidentally slammed.

There are double sinks with storage in the vanity and a slender shelf above the sinks. The shower and toilet area is a bit tight, but manageable. A pocket door closes it off from the rest of the bathroom allowing multiple people to get ready at the same time.

The room had the following great features:

  • Laminate Floors
  • Soft close sliding bathroom doors
  • Wonderful closet area with tons of storage
  • Split bathroom with a double sink
  • A plug and small area for phone on side of bed
  • Keurig coffee maker
  • Blackout curtains

In Room WiFi

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort has complimentary wi-fi. The free wi-fi works pretty well overall, but does not always support streaming video from services like Netflix.

Yacht Club Parking

Self-parking is complimentary for resort guests while valet parking costs $33 per night at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Villas

Transportation To Parks

Use this gray and white lighthouse to find Disney's Yacht Club boat dock behind the resort.

Yacht Club To Epcot And Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is located within walking distance of both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The walk to Epcot takes you past Beach Club Resort and into the International Gateway entrance between France and United Kingdom in World Showcase.

The walk to Hollywood Studios from Yacht Club is considerably longer, but is possible. If you prefer to save your steps, take a boat from the dock located behind Yacht Club which brings you, and guests from other resort stops, to Hollywood Studios.

Yacht Club To Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom

Hop a bus to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom from Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. Find the bus stop on the left side of the main entrance when exiting the lobby area.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is a beautiful deluxe resort with great restaurant options and the best pool at Disney World. We love the sophisticated take on nautical design in the resort and the easy walk to Disney’s Beach Club , Disney’s Boardwalk , and Epcot.

I am overall very happy with our rooms here, but do think the rooms could be better maintained. On a recent stay our shower caulk was damaged and water leaked out onto the floor.

Despite this we still love the laminate floors, beautiful closet, split bathroom, and comfortable beds which make for a pleasant stay at Yacht Club.

We love the Yacht Club! We picked it the first time based on details - distance to the parks, reviews, etc - were not disappointed.

Dining isn't a strength at Yacht Club, but tons of options are short walk away at EPCOT or the four other resorts.

Ale & Compass Restaurant The cuisine is advertised as “New England comfort food.” Reader ratings have improved substantially over the years, without compromising the diversity of the menu.

Yachtsman Steakhouse Open for dinner only, Yachtsman Steakhouse serves up steak, seafood, and sides. This is a signature restaurant that tries to create an atmosphere, so expect high prices and to adhere to a minimal dress code.

Market at Ale and Compass A small spot carved out of the gift shop, the Market has coffee, pastries, and other small items.

Ale and Compass Lounge Ale & Compass is a competent restaurant, the kind of place you'll be happy to find at dinnertime if it's raining and you don't want to go outside; or everyone is starving and you need to eat right now. Ale and Compass is a better choice for breakfast. You'll find something for everyone in various combinations of eggs, potatoes, bacon, tofu, French toast, and so on, with a la carte options if you just want a quick bite.

Crew's Cup Lounge The Crew’s Cup Lounge is one of the better bars in Walt Disney World, although the reason for that statement is hard to explain. The entire room just feels...well, cool. It starts when you approach the door, which is found in the Yacht Club’s hallway, heading towards the Beach Club Resort. One of the things that makes Crew’s Cup cool is the understated sign hanging in the hall, a few steps up, as well as a plain door. The facade is easily overshadowed by the Yachtsman Steakhouse, but that secret, speakeasy style entry makes it a little hard to find, and we all know that the coolest places don’t need to advertise. Walking in you immediately notice the theme, which is rowing, but are not overwhelmed by it. There are a few images of rowers here and there and a few oars along the walls, but it is mostly just a quaint, slightly dark, overwhelmingly wood-paneled lounge. The rowing theme obviously fits in with the Yacht Club Resort and the Crew’s Cup looks as if it would be a place that a crew team would hang out after practice. While many Americans do not think of crew or rowing as major sports, it certainly has a long history in the United States. It began as soon as the English landed, having been popular there several centuries prior. Yale University boast the oldest American college crew club, started in 1843, and the Harvard versus Yale regatta is the oldest intercollegiate sport in the U.S. It is so old in fact (started in 1852), that it had to be paused during the American Civil War! The entire Crew’s Cup Lounge hints toward this history. The shell (or boat to you landlubbers) hanging from the ceiling is a common place for storage when there are no racks. The oars along the walls are each painted differently, which is how a team identifies itself (although these oars match no teams that we could find). Even just the exposed rafters and craftsman touches point toward a New England style around the year 1900. For those interested in what goes on in a kitchen, there is a window that looks into a section of the Yachtsman Steakhouse’s back of house. Often during dinner time you will see a prep chef getting ready for the mealtime rush. Once you decide to have a seat, there are a few different options, with seats at the bar, a handful of booths, a few tables and chairs, and also a few couches. Whether you are there for dinner, relaxation, or to watch the television, you will find a seat to match. Speaking of dinner, there is both food and drink aplenty, although the drink list is our one big knock on The Crew’s Cup as it follows the standard Disney drink menu. The food here is above average and consists of hearty appetizers, burgers, and chicken tenders. Nothing fancy, but good quality and decently priced (for Walt Disney World). The Crew’s Cup Lounge is not often mentioned as a favorite spot, and we will hope it stays that way because that just means more room for us. After all, if everyone knows it might stop being so cool.

Fittings & Farings Fittings & Farings is Yacht Club's souvenir shop. A small selection of snacks, drinks, and other groceries are available.

Refillable Mugs Allows guest self-service soft drink refills from quick-service locations in hotels ( NOT in theme parks ) for $21.99 for the length of stay.

Practical Matters

Check-in is 4:00pm Check-out is 11:00am

All Disney resorts participate in Disney’s Online Check-In program. If you’ve checked-in online and provided a mobile phone number or email address, you will receive your room number electronically. Then you can go straight to the room and use your smart phone or MagicBand to open the door, skipping the lobby altogether.

These rubber and plastic wrist bands can function as your room key, park admission, charge card, and more! MagicBands cost money, but if you'd like a free option you can use the official Disney World app on your phone or request an RFID-embedded card at the front desk.

Park tickets are best purchased online in advance either directly through Disney or via our Least Expensive Ticket Calculator . However, if you arrive without park tickets, head to the concierge desk in the hotel lobby.

Dining reservation are best made online in advance or on your phone or tablet during your visit. You can also use our Disney World Reservation Finder .

Washers and dryers are availabile in laundry facilities at each Disney World hotel. Cost is $3 per wash, and another $3 per dry cycle. A small selection of soap, fabric softener, and dryer sheets are also sold, for around $1 each. Only credit/debit cards can be used for payment. For more information, see our Disney World Laundry Facilities page.

If you lose something in a theme park or during your stay at a Disney-operated hotel, visit Disney's Lost and Found website or call (407) 824-4245.

Disney hotels have gifts shops near their lobbies with a decent collection of Disney-branded souvenirs. You will also find basic pharmacy items such as sunscreen, aspirin, allergy and cold medicine, baby diapers and formula, shampoo, and the like. Resort hotels with Deluxe Villa rooms offer an assortment of groceries, as well.

Disney recommends a third party company, Kid's Nite Out , to provide babysitting services at the resort hotels. See our Disney World Child Care page for more information.

The Yacht Club is located in the EPCOT Resort Area. All modern GPS apps, and Google Maps, will have clear driving directions to it. As a backup, look for Disney road signs directing you toward the EPCOT resorts (not EPCOT) once you're on property, and then look for signs for the Yacht Club once you're close.

Disney Skyliner gondola system has a station at EPCOT's International Gateway entrance. The ride to Hollywood Studios is about 12 minutes (plus waiting time in line).

Disney provides free bus service to the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and Disney Springs from the bus stop at the front of the resort. Buses run about every 20 minutes. For all destinations except the Magic Kingdom, it's probably faster to drive or walk.

If you have your own car , it's faster to drive yourself to Disney's Animal Kingdom, the Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach water parks, and Disney Springs. Disney's transportation system is faster to the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

EPCOT is a short walk from the Yacht Club, and the walk to Hollywood Studios is just a little longer.

Disney provides free boat service to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios from the resort.

You can walk between the Beach Club, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, Swan, Swan Reserve, and Dolphin. Boat service is available to all of those, too, except the Swan Reserve. The Skyliner at EPCOT's International Gateway can take you to Caribbean Beach, Riviera, Pop Century, and Art of Animation. For all other resort destinations, the fastest option is an Uber, Lyft, or taxi. Disney's bus service is free but slow, and will probably require you to use an intermediate destination like Disney Springs, to get to your destination. And that can take a couple of hours each way if you're unluckly.

if you have a car, the easiest way to get to Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, and other tourist destinations is to drive. Alternatively, Mears Transportation operates shuttle services between the Disney hotels and other theme parks.

DISNEY'S YACHT CLUB RESORT - Updated 2024 Prices & Reviews (Orlando, FL)

I stayed solo at Disney's Yacht Club resort for $750 a night, and its many perks made it worth every penny

  • I recently stayed by myself at Disney's Yacht Club resort for $750 a night.
  • My room had a great balcony and Yacht Club has an amazing pool and lazy river.
  • It's my favorite resort on Disney World property because of its dining and proximity to parks.

Insider Today

I recently stayed at Disney's Yacht Club resort, a deluxe resort located in the Epcot area of Disney World.

The resort is themed to feel like an upscale New England-style hotel with nautical touches throughout the lobby and hotel rooms. When I visited, I paid $750 a night for my standard-view room with two queen-size beds and a balcony.

I chose to splurge on this resort because I was traveling by myself. I love being a short walk away from dining locations and bars when I'm traveling alone and this location and its pool area simply cannot be beat.

Here's what my stay was like and why Disney's Yacht Club resort remains my favorite hotel on the property.

The standard-view room I stayed in March was priced at $750 per night.

yacht club disney balcony

Rooms at the Yacht Club start at $484 per night for a standard view and can go well into the thousands for suites and club-level accommodations, depending on the time of the year.

My room had two queen-sized beds, a balcony, and a view of the front gate of the resort. The room was equipped with a pull-out couch, mini fridge, a safe, Keurig coffee machine, and ample storage space for clothes and luggage underneath the beds.

The room featured furniture in dark wood tones with brass accents.

yacht club disney balcony

I appreciated the conveniently placed reading lights built into the headboards and ample plugs for charging devices near the beds. My room also had a writing desk.

The bathroom featured a double vanity, a large shower stall, and products from cult-favorite Disney brand H20+.

yacht club disney balcony

H20+ products are often found in Disney resorts and many guests love them. On this trip, I got a shower cap, mouthwash, facial soap, body lotion, and vanity kit in my room.

Many Yacht Club rooms have sizable balcony areas.

yacht club disney balcony

One reason I prefer the Yacht Club over Disney's Beach Club is the size of the balcony that comes with most rooms.

Many Beach Club resort rooms feature small Juliet-style balconies, but the Yacht Club seems to have more rooms with large balcony areas. I love to spend as much time on the balcony as I can and this is always a deciding factor for me when I'm selecting what resort I book for a trip.

The Yacht Club has several standout locations for drinking and dining.

yacht club disney balcony

Located on the resort property, Yachtsman Steakhouse is a classic steak house with a loyal fan following. The menu has premium steaks that are cut in house and a wide selection of vintage wines.

Next to the steak house is Crew's Cup Lounge. The rowing-themed lounge serves beer, wine, and cocktails as well as a limited selection of food items from the kitchen at the Yachtsman, making it a perfect stop if you weren't able to score dinner reservations.

Just off of the Yacht Club lobby is Ale & Compass.

yacht club disney balcony

The gastro-pub-inspired restaurant offers both a buffet and an a la carte menu for breakfast. It also serves New England favorites, like Parker House rolls and fish and chips for lunch and dinner.

There's also Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, located between the Yacht Club and Beach Club.

yacht club disney balcony

The Beach Club resort is in the same building as The Yacht Club, so its dining options are also easy to access.

The two also share Beaches & Cream Soda Shop , Disney's spin on a retro soda fountain. It serves burgers, sandwiches, and ice-cream classics by the scoop or in a sundae or float.

The resort has a massive pool area, Stormalong Bay.

yacht club disney balcony

Stormalong Bay is often regarded as the best pool in the fleet of Disney resorts . Guests must prove they're staying on the property to access this pool area — most Disney resorts don't do this.

The 3-acre shipwreck-themed area features a sandy-bottom pool, a lazy river, several whirlpool spas, and one of the highest hotel waterslides in Disney World.

Guests looking for a more peaceful pool experience can go to the Admiral Pool, located in a more quiet area of the Yacht Club resort.

At the pool, you can rent a cabana or grab a bite to eat.

yacht club disney balcony

At the pool, guests can also rent a cabana with shaded canopies and plush loungers for an additional fee.

Adjacent to the area is Hurricane Hanna's Waterside Bar & Grill, where you can get cocktails and classic poolside favorites like cheeseburgers and fries.

The Yacht Club is a 10-minute walk from an Epcot entrance and a 15- to 20-minute walk from Hollywood Studios.

yacht club disney balcony

Yacht Club is conveniently located near multiple Disney parks and — in addition to walking — guests have multiple transportation options.

First off, both Epcot and Hollywood Studios are within walking distance of the resort.

The resort is also steps away from the Friendship Boats that ferry guests across Crescent Lake between Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and a few other Disney resorts.

It's also near the Skyliner, which is connected to other resorts and Hollywood Studios. Bus transportation is also available to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Disney Springs, Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach .

The resort is also just across the lake from the Disney BoardWalk.

yacht club disney balcony

The BoardWalk features midway games, evening performers, and a number of restaurants and bars. You don't need a theme-park ticket to check it out, either.

Overall, Yacht Club is ideal for folks who want to spend most of their time at the resort or the nearby parks.

yacht club disney balcony

Yacht Club resort is great for guests planning to spend a lot of time at their hotel — or Epcot and/or Hollywood Studios. The resort's close proximity to those two parks makes it a great choice for travelers who enjoy taking a midday break.

With its many on-site dining options, Yacht Club is an excellent choice for folks who prioritize being able to get a great meal without traveling far. If you value a great pool while on vacation, it's also hard to beat either the Beach or Yacht club.

With all of that in mind, the Yacht Club is one of my absolute favorite resorts on Disney World property and absolutely worth the price point.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Overview of Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Disney's Yacht Club Resort is a  deluxe resort hotel at Walt Disney World. It offers a luxury nautical retreat with plenty of Disney amenities. Located around Crescent Lake, it's like you're in your own little world with a mini water park, numerous recreation and dining options and easy access to the Boardwalk area and EPCOT. That's right — it's one of the few hotels that allows you to walk to EPCOT. Plus, Disney's Yacht Club Resort is pet-friendly so you can bring your dog to Disney World !

Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort — Large globe in lobby

You'll often hear the phrase "Yacht and Beach Club" in reference to these resorts. That's because Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resort are sister hotels (though with their similar theming, they really just feel like one big resort!). Beach Club's exterior features bright blue colors while Yacht Club is more light gray. Beach Club has more of a vibrant-yet-classy beach flair while Yacht Club is known to have a quieter, more "adult" feel with dark wood and brass nautical décor.

They are directly connected and share amenities, allowing for double the offerings!

Rooms at Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort — Standard room

Disney's Yacht Club Resort features excellent accommodations. Most rooms offer two queen beds and one daybed, sleeping up to five adults — a great option for a larger group! Other configurations may include two queen beds or one king bed and one daybed. A King Bed option sleeping up to two adults is also available. For most rooms, you may select either a Standard View, Water View (pool or lagoon) or Resort View. Be sure to save some green by booking through Undercover Tourist !

All rooms feature either a patio or balcony. Extra amenities include free Wi-Fi, TV, hairdryer, pool towels, coffee maker, mini-fridge, in-room safe and iron and ironing board.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort — Bathroom

The bathroom area offers a counter with a double sink and then a separate area for the bathtub and toilet. This makes it a little easier when everyone is getting ready in the morning.

Transportation at Yacht Club Resort

Yacht and Beach Club Resort — Boats

Disney's Yacht Club Resort is conveniently located very close to two of the theme parks, allowing for even more transportation options . There are boats that travel from Yacht and Beach Club to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. As a bonus option, the Disney Skyliner  station is also at the International Gateway at EPCOT. The whimsical gondolas travel from EPCOT to Hollywood Studios, stopping at four resort hotels along the way.

Did you know you can even walk to EPCOT? The short walk takes about 10 minutes (if coming from the Yacht Club side), allowing you convenient access to the International Gateway at EPCOT. You'll enter between the United Kingdom and France pavilions, making it easy to hop right over to Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. There is a walking path to Hollywood Studios, though the trek is closer to 20 minutes. Did you know we also offer discount tickets to Walt Disney World?

Yacht and Beach Club Resort — Bus stop

If traveling to other Disney World destinations (such as Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs and the water parks), buses will be your main transportation option at Disney's Yacht Club Resort. The bus stop is located outside the main lobby, and buses may be shared between both Yacht and Beach Club.

Disney's Yacht Club Resort Pool

Yacht Club Resort - Stormalong Bay

One of the biggest perks at the resort is Disney's Yacht Club pool. Well, "pool" is putting it lightly, as Yacht and Beach Club basically share their own mini water park! Located in the middle of both resorts, Stormalong Bay offers three acres of a sand-bottomed pool, lazy river, whirlpool spas, an epic 230-foot-long waterslide, poolside activities, pool bar and more. There are even poolside cabanas available to rent. If you're looking for one of the best Disney World pools with lots of features, Stormalong Bay is a great option!

Yacht Club Resort - Stormalong Bay

Note that Stormalong Bay is only available to guests of the Beach Club and Yacht Club. You must present your MagicBand or room key at the pool entrance to show you are a resort guest, and then you'll typically receive a wristband.

There are also three quiet leisure pools throughout Yacht and Beach Club, as well.

Amenities, Recreation and Shopping at Yacht Club

Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort — Boat rentals

Besides Stormalong Bay, there are lots of recreation offerings at Yacht Club Resort. Fishing excursions and boat rentals are available near the marina. There are also tennis and volleyball courts and an arcade, plus various activities such as crafts, tie-dye, a master-led painting class and more.

The Ship Shape Massage Salon Fitness Center is open 24/7, plus you can walk or jog the 0.8-mile circuit around the BoardWalk lagoon. Each night, roast marshmallows by the campfire at the Beach Club Beach and then enjoy a Movie Under the Stars.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Some of the  perks of staying on-site include the ability to book advance dining reservations for your length of stay 60 days in advance of check-in, early booking of individual Lightning Lane selections and easy access to Disney World's complimentary transportation options . Enjoy even more time in the parks with  Early Theme Park Entry , allowing hotel guests an additional 30 minutes before the parks open to the public (this works even at the International Gateway at EPCOT, perfectly located only a walk away!). Exclusive to deluxe and deluxe villa guests, Disney World also offers Extended Evening Hours on select nights in select theme parks — a great way to enjoy lower crowds!

Yacht Club Resort also provides the following amenities:

  • ATM and banking service
  • Bell services
  • Laundry and dry cleaning services
  • Mail services
  • Complimentary self-parking (Valet parking: $33 per night)

Yacht Club Resort - Themed Apparel

On the Yacht Club side, The Market at Ale & Compass offers beach-themed merchandise and basic food and park essentials. Similarly at Beach Club, The Marketplace is available for all your shopping needs, plus grab-n-go food items.

Dining at Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Yacht Club Resort - Pumpkin milkshake from Beaches & Cream

Between both Yacht Club and Beach Club, there are tons of amazing dining options right at your resort! Plus, Disney's BoardWalk is only a short walk away from even more restaurants.

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop

Every day is sundae at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop! This iconic ice cream parlor is a must-do while staying at Yacht and Beach Club. The retro soda fountain offers mouth-watering malted milkshakes, floats and out-of-this-world ice cream configurations. Plus, enjoy burgers, grilled cheese, chili-cheese tots and other classic comfort food. Up for a real dessert challenge? See if your group can finish the coveted Kitchen Sink — eight scoops of ice cream with every topping you can imagine!

Advanced reservations are highly recommended for this popular destination. We also love the To-Go window outside if unable to get a reservation (or wanting a quick treat by Stormalong Bay).

Cape May Cafe

Yacht Club Resort - Minnie at Cape May Cafe

Disney's Beach Club Resort conveniently hosts a character dining location. Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast has Minnie and friends dressed in their beachy best to start the day sunny side up. Breakfast includes a mix of items from pastries, omelets, yogurt parfaits, Mickey and Minnie waffles, brioche french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon and more. This is a relaxed, casual dining experience and a perfect way to start a non-park resort day. Hop on over to our full foodie review for more details!

Ale & Compass Restaurant and Lounge

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort — Ale & Compass Restaurant

Ale & Compass is a casual table-service restaurant at Disney's Yacht Club Resort. The coastal-themed location offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Savor food such as the chipotle-barbecue chicken flatbread, Bacon and Vermont Cheddar Burger, Fish & Chips and more. Advance reservations are recommended, though we are often able to find some day-of times available.

Adjacent to the restaurant, the Ale & Compass Lounge offers a nautical oasis. The lounge is open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., though appetizers are only available starting at 5 p.m. Enjoy nonalcoholic beverages as well as alcoholic drinks such as cocktails, spirits, beer, cider and wines.

Yachtsman Steakhouse

Yachtsman Steakhouse is a fine dining experience offering high-quality New England-style cuisine. Enjoy dishes such as New York Stripe Steak, prime rib, salmon, lobster, truffle macaroni and cheese and chocolate cake. This upscale restaurant is open for dinner and advance dining reservations are highly recommended. Yachtsman is a Signature Dining experience, so there is a dress code.

Crew's Cup Lounge

Located next to Yachtsman Steakhouse, Crew's Cup Lounge offers a cozy outpost with select appetizers and cocktails, beer, scotch and flights. The lounge is open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Martha's Vineyard

At Disney's Beach Club Resort, enjoy appetizers, nonalcoholic mocktails, wines, cocktails, beer and ciders at Martha's Vineyard. The New England beach house-inspired lounge is open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The Market at Ale & Compass and Beach Club Marketplace

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort — The Market at Ale & Compass

The Market at Ale & Compass (or Beach Club Marketplace) offers convenient pre-packaged, grab-n-go items, as well as select hot food items. Start your day off with delicious breakfast options such as Mickey waffles, breakfast sandwiches and select sides or go for a Breakfast Bowl with scrambled eggs, Mickey waffles, potato barrels, bacon and a biscuit.

For lunch and dinner, enjoy sandwiches, soup, salads, baked goods, fruit and dessert. To save time,  mobile ordering is also available.

Hurricane Hanna's Waterside Bar and Grill

Located at Stormalong Bay, this poolside bar offers appetizers, sandwiches, chicken strips, salads and a variety of nonalcoholic beverages and alcoholic drinks including cocktails, beer, wine and specialty drinks.

What to Consider Before Staying at Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

We think Disney's Yacht Club Resort is an excellent option for those looking for a luxury oasis during your Walt Disney World vacation. The deluxe resort has amazing dining options, an incredible pool area, easy access to EPCOT (it's practically in your backyard!) and so much more. While there's not as much Disney theming here, it's perfect for those wanting to enjoy the resort on some non-park days. Plus, Stormalong Bay is like a mini water park, so you don't have to worry about a Disney Water Park ticket if you're mostly just a lazy river fan (I can relate ... ).

Yacht and Beach Club are very similar, though you'll often find Yacht Club quieter than Beach Club — its elegant rooms and yacht club theming make this a favorite among couples and honeymooners. With Disney's Yacht Club Resort, you can combine a Disney trip with a relaxing beach-themed vacation — all in one!

The Ultimate Disney Yacht Club Review + Insider Tips

February 8, 2021 //  by  Kimberly Jones //   2 Comments

Disney’s Yacht Club opened back on November 5, 1990. Its sister location is the Beach Club located right next to it. The Yacht Club is a beautifully themed resort with nautical and beach themes. We are going to tell you everything you need to know about this wonderful resort in our Ultimate Disney Yacht Club Review + Insider Tips!

There are so many great aspects to this resort such as its location, pools, transportation options, and amenities. If you are thinking about staying at the Yacht Club, read on to find out if this resort is a good fit for you!

Where Is The Yacht Club At Disney Located?

One of the best reasons to stay at Disney’s Yacht Club is the fantastic location! This resort is within walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios . There are also several different transportation options to all of the parks, Disney Springs , and the water parks .

The Yacht Club is directly next to the Beach Club, and they share the pool. Now you not only have access to all of the Yacht Club’s restaurants and amenities, but you also have access to the Beach Club’s!

The Yacht and Beach Club are right across the water from Disney’s Boardwalk Resort . It is a short walk away to enjoy everything the Boardwalk has to offer! There are some fun restaurants, bars, and shops to explore there.

The Yacht Club is also very close to the Swan and Dolphin Hotels. There is a pathway to take you right over to these hotels for some extra fun as well!

Not only are there other resorts within walking distance of the Yacht Club, but there are also resorts that are a quick Skyliner trip away! Taking the Skyliner from Epcot’s International Gateway, you can visit Disney’s Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, Pop Century , and Art of Animation!

Disney’s Yacht Club is in a very prime location with quick access to two of the parks and multiple resorts!

Checking in to The Yacht Club At Disney

Checking into the Yacht Club is extremely easy, and it doesn’t even require you to visit the front desk! The day of your reservation, you can check in to the resort from the My Disney Experience app . The app will let you know when your room is ready and what your room number will be! If you have magic bands or even your phone , you can head straight to your room and unlock the door.

Of course, you can always go the old school route and check-in at the front desk. All the cast members at Disney’s Yacht Club are extremely friendly and accommodating! A great tip to keep in mind is you can always see if there are any upgrades available for your room. We were able to get a free upgrade from a standard view to a water view!

The lobby is also absolutely amazing here. It has a very adventurous and nautical theme to it. You can find everything you need right in this area, such as the restaurant, lounge, bell services, and the front desk.

Right outside the backside of the lobby, there is a boardwalk that will lead you to the boat transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Transportation Options From The Yacht Club

We love all of the transportation options the Yacht Club has to offer, and we’re sure you will too! As mentioned before, there are walking paths to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The Epcot walking path is very short and will get you to the International Gateway in about 5 – 10 minutes. The entrance at International Gateway is on the back side of Epcot by World Showcase .

The walking path to Hollywood Studios is a little bit longer than the Epcot one. This one can take 20 minutes or more. However, there is boat transportation to Hollywood Studios if you don’t want to walk! You can find boat transportation right behind the lobby that will take you to Epcot or Hollywood Studios.

If you don’t want to walk or take the boat to Hollywood Studios, you can always take the Skyliner! There is a Skyliner location right outside International Gateway that will take you first to Disney’s Riviera Resort, and then to the Skyliner central hub at Caribbean Beach Resort. From here you will get off the Skyliner and get in line for a different Skyliner track to take you to Hollywood Studios.

So there are so many options to get to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, but what about the other parks? Disney has bus transportation from the Yacht Club to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Spring, and the water parks.

If you plan on spending a lot of time at either Epcot or Hollywood Studios, the Yacht Club is one of the best resorts to stay at.

Disney Yacht Club Room Review

There are several different room options at the Yacht Club. There is Standard View, Water View, Garden or Woods View, and 2 Bedroom Suites. All of the view rooms also have club level options.

I was able to stay in a Water View room. The room was absolutely delightful! It had a nautical theme to match the rest of the resort, and it was quite spacious. The room had two queen beds and a pull out couch, so it was able to sleep up to 5 guests. We only had 4 guests in our room, but I could imagine the pull out bed might make the room feel a little more cramped.

The room had large closets with space to hang clothes, and a big sink and bathroom area with two sinks. The shower had a sliding glass door, which I prefer over a curtain.

I really liked that this room had wood flooring compared to carpet. It added to the nautical theme very well. The room also had a balcony that looked over the back entrance of the lobby and the water. Overall, the room was very nice, and I thoroughly enjoyed its set up!

Yacht Club rooms average in price anywhere between $400 to over $3000 per night depending on what room you stay in and what time of the year you visit.

Dining Options At The Yacht Club

There are some really great and delicious dining options at the Yacht Club. This resort has two restaurants, two lounges, a quick service restaurant, a restaurant located in between the Yacht and Beach Club, and a pool bar.

The two restaurants at the Yacht Club are Ale & Compass and Yachtsman Steakhouse. Yachtsman Steakhouse is currently temporarily unavailable, but Ale & Compass is open for breakfast and dinner. This restaurant follows the nautical theme with a relaxing atmosphere and some delicious coastal eats.

The Ale & Compass Lounge is located adjacent to the restaurant. Here, you can order off the lounge menu and even the restaurant menu. This lounge can fill up quickly at night though, so make sure to grab a seat early if you want to eat or drink here.

The other lounge, Crew’s Cup Lounge,  is right next to Yachtsman Steakhouse and is also temporarily unavailable. We hope that the lounge and restaurant will open soon!

The quick service location shares a spot with the Yacht Club’s gift shop. When you enter the Market at Ale & Compass, on the right is the gift shop and on the left is the quick service restaurant. They serve coffee, sandwiches, pastries, and more. This is a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat to or from the parks!

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop is the hidden gem of the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts! This restaurant is located in between the two resorts and serves some wonderful food! They are open for lunch and dinner and they serve sandwiches and burgers. My favorite is their Grilled Cheese sandwich, its delicious!

However, save room for the best part of this restaurant. The ice cream! They have shakes, floats, and sundaes! You can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. If you’re feeling really brave though, try the Kitchen Sink sundae. This sundae is meant for 4 or more people, and includes every topping and a whole can of whipped cream! I have attempted it twice, and I still haven’t been able to finish it. Maybe you can!

Hurricane Hanna’s Grill is the pool bar located right next to Stormalong Bay. They have a few food items and some refreshing drinks.

If you’ve tried everything at the Yacht Club and want something different, head over to the Beach Club! Here you can find even more restaurants and tasty eats!

Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club Resort

Yacht Club Swimming Pools

The Yacht and Beach Club have hands down the best swimming pools on Disney World property. It’s considered more of a small water park than swimming pools because it’s so large!

Stormalong Bay is 3 acres of refreshing fun! It includes a large sand bottomed pool and a lazy river. There are waterfalls, a volleyball net in the pool, and a water slide.

This water slide is no joke. You climb a large shipwrecked ship all the way to the top and then slide down this long and exciting slide! Stormalong Bay even has a “beach” area with sand to play with! After all that fun, go relax in one of 3 whirlpool spas.

Right by the entrance to the water slide is a small kid play area with a mini water slide. This is a great introduction to the big slide for nervous kids!

Don’t need all the excitement of Stormalong Bay? There are also 3 leisure pools at the Yacht and Beach Club for guests to enjoy.

If you plan on staying at the Yacht Club, you must plan a resort day into your schedule! Make some time for this awesome mini water park and relax away from the parks! You won’t regret it.

Amenities At The Yacht Club Resort

There are so many fun amenities and things to do at Disney’s Yacht Club. When it comes to activities, there are fishing excursions, a tennis court, a sand volleyball court, jogging trails, motorized boat rentals, an arcade, and a fitness center. Just ask the front desk if you’d like to book a fishing excursion or rent a boat to go out on the water!

The Yacht Club even has a spa! Ship Shape Massage Salon is a full service spa that can do massages, facials, hairstyling, and nails. We all need a relaxing day every once and awhile! Why not enjoy the spa on your day off from the parks?

The resort also has campfire activities, movies under the stars, and a Pirate Adventure Cruise (which is unfortunately temporarily unavailable at the moment). The Yacht Club is within walking distance of the Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Golf. Go show off your mini golf skills at this adorably themed course!

This resort really has a lot of fun things for you and your family to enjoy! You will definitely want to take a day away from the parks to enjoy this amazing resort!

Overall Thoughts On Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

We at Disney Trippers absolutely love Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. The whole place is incredibly peaceful and beautiful. It has the perfect mix of being family friendly and adult friendly with lots of things to do. So whether you’re traveling with a bunch of adults or your kids, everyone will enjoy it!

Most everything is in super close distance to this resort. The only time you will have to take the bus is to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Spring, or the water parks. The other parks and some resorts are really easy to get to, making this a top notch location for a resort.

If you have a day off from the parks, make sure to enjoy all of the amenities the Yacht Club has to offer. You could spend a whole day just having fun at the resort! You definitely don’t want to miss out on this place!

We stayed at the Disney Yacht Club the last time we were at DW. We loved it. The staff was outstanding. It was an adult family vacation, and due to different work schedules, some family members had to fly in at different times. The staff accommodated each one and made them feel as if they already knew them. We loved the location as we could walk to different locations. We tried the Kitchen Sink sundae, but couldn’t finish it. We sure had fun trying. We actually took one day to enjoy the resort and were not disappointed. We spent time in the swimming pool, which was amazing with the sand bottom. Lunch was an delicious lobster roll and we finished off at the steakhouse. I would certainly recommend this resort to all who are considering a trip to Disney World.

Yacht Club Resort Stay Report

yacht club disney balcony

As Walt Disney World’s phased reopening continues, so too do our hotel stays. In this resort report, we return to Yacht Club to check out the new health safety protocol, enhanced room cleaning, dining, Stormalong Bay pool crowds, and more.

Our stay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort was at the beginning of September 2020, shortly after the hotel’s reopening. We booked this ‘strategically’ on the very first day of maximum savings offered by the Florida resident and Annual Passholder “Rediscover the Magic” room discounts .

We were initially a bit apprehensive about choosing these dates; there are only two brief windows where the largest percentage off from that deal intersects with the lowest rate seasons at Yacht Club. Consequently, we worried there might be a surge of locals and APs booking for the same dates, taking advantage of a rare opportunity for Yacht Club at under $300 per night. Our fears turned out to be totally unfounded…

This ended up being the least-busy we’ve ever seen Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. I would say it was the least-busy we’ve seen the Crescent Lake area, but that distinction still goes to our stay at the BoardWalk Villas the night those reopened back in June .

However, this experience at Yacht Club came really close to that. Definitely less busy than our August stay at Caribbean Beach or prior visits to other hotels in the last month. It’s pretty clear that off-season has arrived at Walt Disney World and we’d expect this to continue with a handful of exceptions ( Labor Day weekend being the big one ) through October.

Anyway, let’s start the Yacht Club stay report with a look at our room…

yacht club disney balcony

My first move when entering any Deluxe Resort room at Walt Disney World is racing to the balcony to check out the view and seating arrangement. This is a relatively ‘new move’ that’s driven by our stays the last couple of years in the Crescent Lake area.

BoardWalk Inn, Beach Club, and Yacht Club are home to some “quirky” rooms due to the configuration of the resorts. For the most part, this is a good thing. These rooms have personality and are different from their standard counterparts. However, we’ve had some poor luck with balconies on this front, getting a couple of rooms with standing-only balconies or other unusable options.

yacht club disney balcony

So imagine my surprise when I open the balcony door and there’s balcony as far as the eye can see. Finally–payment for our patience! Or so I thought .

Then I saw another guest in the corner of “our” balcony. It turned out this large terrace was actually a shared balcony for 4 different guest rooms, making it a bit awkward to use. It would’ve been awesome for a large group booking a block of rooms, but that wasn’t our situation.

yacht club disney balcony

Oh well. I still enjoyed the balcony and used it both early in the morning and late at night, never really “encountering” our neighbors again. Back inside, here’s a look at the enhanced cleaning sign.

We noticed a couple of spots where our room’s cleaning clearly was not so “enhanced,” but we didn’t really care. (Of course, it’d be nice if the room were clean–but it doesn’t bother us from a health safety perspective.) Personally, I wish Disney would emphasize what they’re doing in terms of ventilation and air filtration rather than so much focus on hygiene theater .

yacht club disney balcony

Another look at the room. We are both big fans of the new rooms at Yacht Club . That’s an unpopular opinion, but our take is that there are a lot of subtle details–both thematic and dashes of Disney –that most guests miss.

We’ve been highly critical of Walt Disney World’s recent room redesigns, but Yacht Club’s is an exception to that. These rooms are actually under-appreciated. The details are better, the functionality is markedly improved, and the rooms are now a better thematic match with the resort as a whole. They aren’t perfect, but they’re an upgrade.

yacht club disney balcony

On that note, it’s interesting how personal preferences change over time. There was a time when I strongly favored Beach Club, feeling it offered the kind light-hearted “ vacation mode ” escape perfectly befitting Walt Disney World.

I still sort of feel that way and prefer Beach Club, but the gap has narrowed tremendously. There are also several aspects of Yacht Club that are more to my tastes–with the rooms being the biggest example of this. (I’m not a fan of Beach Club’s new rooms.)

yacht club disney balcony

Bouncing to dining, here’s a look at the Market at Ale & Compass, which is Yacht Club’s counter service restaurant and gift shop.

Mobile Order is available here, but so too is ordering at the counter. This is a suitable option in a pinch (we did a late night meal here after “forgetting” to eat dinner in EPCOT during this stay), but it’s nothing special.

yacht club disney balcony

The table service Ale & Compass Restaurant has also returned, and it was pretty busy for dinner–even relatively late at night. It was somewhat odd to see the lobby totally devoid of guests but Ale & Compass with a “full” (reduced capacity) house. This is pretty common at resorts right now, and is due to a lack of options and earlier park closing times.

As we’ve noted countless times, we’re only dining outdoors at Walt Disney World to err on the side of caution. Several readers have asked how more ‘open air’ restaurants fit with this. I don’t have the necessary expertise to offer a definitive assessment, but I’d personally feel more comfortable dining somewhere like Chef Mickey’s than the Wave, for example. Though the difference is less pronounced, I’d also favor the better-ventilated Ale & Compass over Beaches & Cream.

yacht club disney balcony

This comes down to a mix of personal risk tolerances, mitigation, and reward. My desire to dine at Chef Mickey’s is less than zero, so I’m willing to take no level of risk to dine there (I suspect the greatest danger at Chef Mickey’s is still the food).

By contrast, I want to dine at Yachtsman Steakhouse with every fiber of my being, even though it’s unquestionably higher risk. It’s not yet open, so “thankfully” I don’t have to make that tough decision yet.

yacht club disney balcony

That’s not meant to be flippant. Realistically, society is unlikely to ever return to zero levels of risk when it comes to all of this. Daily life will become safer over time for a variety of reasons (again, this is a temporary abnormal rather than new normal), but the best case still likely involves non-zero risk when doing certain things, such as dining indoors.

Part of what’ll happen is that risk-taking will increase over time as we collectively grow fatigued and habituated to this. Obviously, different people have different risk tolerances–that’s already evident. Mine just so happens to be influenced by steak. Even then, I wouldn’t yet be comfortable dining at Yachtsman Steakhouse if it reopened today. ( I can still daydream! )

yacht club disney balcony

Moving along, one thing I love about staying at the Crescent Lake resorts is getting up before sunrise for quiet strolls and, if conditions are right, frantic photography.

Thanks to a comedy of errors, this stay was not conducive to that. After waking up a little late, I was in a hurry to get out of the room…and didn’t realize I wasn’t wearing a face mask until in the lobby. I raced back to the room and grabbed it, losing about 5 minutes in the process.

yacht club disney balcony

As a result of our balcony ‘situation’, I choose to leave my camera bag in the room overnight instead of leaving it on the balcony like normal. The huge difference in temperature meant my lenses were fogged up for a good 10-15 minutes once down by the dock.

Once my photography gear finally did warm up and the condensation went away, I discovered that my battery was dead. It had three bars left as of the previous night, so I can only assume this was due to the dramatic temperature change.

yacht club disney balcony

Honestly, I’d rather have multiple impediments than just one. A single error is frustrating because you’re so close but still just as far away. Many problems enters the realm of ‘comic mishaps’ that are easier to laugh off.

In any case, all of the sunrise photos here are previously-unedited ‘file footage’ from our last stay at Yacht Club. The sunrise this particular morning sucked anyway.

yacht club disney balcony

The bigger issue with the dead battery was that I hadn’t taken most of the photos I needed for this post. We spent the previous day enjoying our time at Yacht Club, not overly fixated on photos.

The plan was to grab most of what I needed the following morning, which is pretty par for the course. Have fun one day, document the next. Consequently, much of what you see here was shot with my iPhone. (Pretty remarkable how much phone camera quality has improved in recent years!)

yacht club disney balcony

Both Stormalong Bay and the quiet pools were totally uncrowded throughout our stay.

There were times when the quiet pools had literally no one in them, and Stormalong Bay was the least busy I’ve ever seen it outside of winter. Definitely slower than normal, even for an off-season weekday.

yacht club disney balcony

Expect that to change on weekends, as we’ve already seen more Floridians doing “staycations” when off work.

That’s probably also when Walt Disney World will see more Annual Passholders from the South taking advantage of the exceptional discounts.

yacht club disney balcony

However, it’s still good news to see significantly fewer people in Stormalong Bay. Our last couple of strolls around Crescent Lake, the pools at BoardWalk Inn and Beach Club were all packed.

Reopening Yacht Club means more guests staying in the Crescent Lake area, but it appears to us that the increased pool capacity is far greater than the increase in people.

yacht club disney balcony

Finally, a quick note about transportation as there have been recent questions about it. The FriendShip boats around Crescent Lake and to/from Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT are not currently operating. Neither is the EPCOT monorail line between the front of that park and the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Neither the boats nor the EPCOT monorail have reopening dates. We don’t have any insight as to when they’ll resume, but our guess is Spring 2021 at the earliest. Perhaps Christmas/New Year’s, but that seems doubtful.

yacht club disney balcony

Ultimately, another great stay save for the ongoing balcony bummers and my unforced error with sunrise photography. Yacht Club continues to move its way up my list of favored Walt Disney World resorts; it truly is underrated in a number of ways. With convention business nonexistent for the foreseeable future, hopefully the discounts continue to flow at Yacht Club.

Thanks to a mix of hotel deals and low occupancy, plus our supply of DVC points and the likelihood that 2021 will be difficult to book with those points, we’re planning on doing several stays over the next 4 months. So, hopefully you enjoy these resort reports! Next up are Pop Century and Disney’s Riviera Resort. Let us know if there’s anything you’d like to see from those properties.

Looking forward to our stay in a few weeks but how do you get to Hollywood Studios? Walk? No boats? No bus? That’s a long walk in the heat or rain…or the end of a long day.

' src=

I highly suggest that you walk to Hollywood Studios? You could take the skyliner, but (as I learned the hard way), that is a MUCH SLOWER option. And when I was there, the parks weren’t even nearly as busy as they are now. If you want to beat some of the morning crowds and save time, you should walk.

' src=

Thank you for the review. I must say, however, that I’m certainly disappointed that the “room’s cleaning clearly was not so “enhanced,” To those of us still easing into traveling again this is not comforting!

That huge balcony is just strange. $500 a night and you get to “share” a balcony? That reminds me of the VWL (Boulder Ridge ) studio we had with no balcony or patio at all. Opened and curtains and just a window. ( I believe it was a lock off so I guess I could have asked my neighbours to share). We promptly asked to be moved.

Thanks for posting the review, it convinced me to use my AP discount for a stay here (which I’ve always dreamed of) in November. I was curious is there a coffee maker in the room at all? Or do you have to go downstairs for it?

Thanks, Ryan

We stayed in a standard room last week and had a Keurig machine in our room.

We have this booked for the first time in November! We’ve been pretty cautious with the virus, but I feel like even the parks feel too crowded I’m good with a vacation that mostly consists of hanging out at Yacht Club and eating outdoors.

My son and I stayed at Yacht Club 8/30 to 9/5. It was quite possibly the best Disney vacation we’ve had. Disney upgraded us to a junior suite and our (private) balcony overlooked Stormalong Bay and the Boardwalk – stunning! After this trip, it will be hard to stay anywhere else. Yacht Club is at the top for us.
