Vanquish Yachts launches first 35m VQ115 Veloce

Vanquish Yachts has launched its flagship 35-metre VQ115 Veloce superyacht from its facility in the Netherlands. The high-performance motor yacht hit the water on 15 May, having been originally commissioned in October 2020 by a repeat client.

The combination of three MTU Rolls Royce 2,650hp engines and an efficient Petestep hull design from Studio Delta makes the VQ115 one of the fastest aluminium yachts on the water, delivering a top speed in excess of 40 knots. And at 35 metres in length, she will be the largest member of the Vanquish fleet when she is delivered to the Hamptons later this year. 

A sporty exterior features a slender hull and integrated flybridge courtesy of Guido de Groot . According to the shipyard, the VQ115 Veloce will "allow large groups of people to be entertained, enjoy extended stays on board and tap into a wide range of watersports."

Inside, the interior layout features a flexible main saloon with freestanding furniture that can be moved as required and accommodation for up to eight guests split between a master suite, VIP and guest cabin. There's a dedicated media room for quieter evenings spent on board which doubles as a fourth cabin thanks to two Pullman berths. Initial discussions with the owner began with a VQ90 concept which evolved to include an extra cabin, a dedicated dining area on the lower deck and two garages.

The interior design has been described by the shipyard as "futuristic" with a "casual groove". A marine blue is used throughout with teak floors that run from the aft deck through the interior.

The client wanted a yacht for entertaining large groups on board so its exterior decks are geared towards open social spaces. A large foredeck plays host to lounge and al fresco dining area with a saltwater Jacuzzi hidden beneath the sunbeds, while a flybridge features a second helm station and a spot for sunbathing.

Despite its hefty engines, the first VQ115 leaves plenty of space for a tender bay aft which will house a VQ16 with a hydraulic platform for easy launch and recovery. A second garage on the starboard side will house a VQ11 water scooter and double as a leisure area complete with a bait tank, paddleboards, SeaBobs and other toys.

Other features include a draft of 1.35 metres, which means the model is suitable for cruising in shallow waters, and two gyro stabilisers for comfort when cruising.

The 100GT yacht has a range of 500 nautical miles when running on two of its three engines, with an extra fuel tank for cruising at 15 knots and twin Seakeeper stabilisers to keep her steady underway. The VQ115 and one other VQ80 Sportfish model are both expected for delivery in June 2023.

The new VQ55 Sports Line has two numbers you might like. The first is 3,000—as in total horsepower from its five Mercury Verado 600 V12 outboards. The second is 80, referring to its blistering 80 mph top end.

With seats for up to 18, and big sun lounges from bow to stern, it’s aimed at the Miami/Saint-Tropez/Ibiza set who like to run fast and party hard. Like the VQ40, its hull is carbon-reinforced fiberglass, rather than Vanquish’s more traditional aluminum.

“The beauty of using composites for the Sports Line is that it creates a boat with exceptional strength, at a more competitive price,” Vanquish CEO Tom Steenjes told Robb Report during a tour of the day-yacht at FLIBS.   

How competitive? Steenjes says VQ55 Sports Line pricing starts are around $3.7 million for the five-outboard version, with a well-optioned example costing closer to $4.2 million.

Steenjes founded Vanquish in the Netherlands in 2012, and the brand has since built a loyal following for quality design, construction and performance. The yard also has one of the most diverse model lineups in either the US or Europe. Its 20-plus models range from an 11-foot jet ski to a 115-foot superyacht.

The secret to the VQ55 Sports Line’s searing speed, says Steenjes, is partly due to the stepped design of its hull, which adds lift and reduces friction. That, and those muscle-bound Mercury V12s hanging off the transom.

The wind-tunnel work also helped reduce the inevitable turbulence in the boat’s rear seating areas. At the touch of a button, “wind doors” attached to each side of the helm, power out into the side-deck walkways to deflect the blast.

The VQ55 also stands out for its deep, waist-high bulwarks that give a sense of safety while moving around the boat. Another nifty, unusual but smart feature: Small doors in the hull on each side of the helm make it easier to step on and off the dock. But after being closed for five seconds, they automatically lock.

Competitors have embraced fold-out platforms at the transom as standard equipment, but Vanquish has yet to join the beam-expansion club. Instead, the VQ55 goes overboard on seats and lounges. Up in the bow is a U-shaped sofa that converts to a sunpad, with a smaller forward-facing sofa opposite. At the stern, an oversize rear-facing sunpad can power upwards to reveal the tender garage. And under the glass-roofed hardtop is a large dining area with wrap-around sofas, hi-lo table, and a near full-beam galley.

The helm has four body-gripping bucket seats that wouldn’t look out of place in a Lamborghini supercar, with big 22-inch Garmin glass screens for navigation.

Steenjes says that moving his office to Fort Lauderdale seven years ago helped him understand the needs of U.S. buyers. Besides the big outboards—a South Florida trademark—other giveaways are cooling misters in the cockpit, air conditioning for the helm, oversize fridges and ice makers and—count them—46 cupholders.

For overnight stays, the Vanquish has a surprisingly roomy cabin, with a double bed at the bow, two singles in a separate (restricted-headroom) cabin, a small galley, and a roomy bathroom with shower.

Pioneering designs and revolutionary ideas are at the forefront of every Vanquish yacht, The Vanqraft VQ16 is a crossover between a Superyacht tender and a PWC, the five-metre-long toy is driven by a 200 HP Yamaha 1.8 L engine with jet propulsion, easily achieving 40 knots whilst carrying up to 5 passengers. The VQ43 proved to be such a success, a second ‘Mk2’ has been created – working closely with designer ‘Guido De Groot’, the 13.35 metre yacht was given a wider stance, full height ceiling in the cabin and a much larger galley, the forward lounge area is accessed via deep wrap around walkways; ensuring an exceptionally beautiful silhouette on the water whilst providing class-leading level of safety aboard. With a minimal draught of 0.85m, the 43’ yacht is the perfect chase boat for larger Superyachts, ensuring beach & pontoon drop-offs are executed with style, grace and elegance.

When searching for synonyms of the word ‘Vanquish’ –  words such as ‘Conquer’, ‘Victorious’ and ‘Triumph’ are presented; words that seem to be entwined within the DNA of this bespoke shipyard.. So it is only correct that a VQ65 Veloce Concept, intended to be the fastest 65ft yacht ever is in development. To achieve this goal, the yacht must be capable of a top speed of 70 knots!

The propulsion system of the VQ65 Veloce is state-of-the-art, with three MAN V12 engines of 1900 HP each combined with surface piercing drives to achieve the exceptionally high top speed.

Vanquish have expressed the importance of maintaining Superyacht standards of comfort whilst completing the concept. There will be space for up to 23 people on deck, an option for luxury accommodation including a comfortable shower and head for two, a galley and a crew cabin with a separate head and shower. And because the Vanquish VQ65 Veloce – like all Vanquish boats – will be fully custom built, it can be adapted to the needs of the most demanding individuals.

company History

Dutch Vanquish Yachts was founded in 2012. Its Creator, Tom Stingies (Tom Steentjes), a professional welder, have always sought to study and application of modern technologies in the production of anything. While still a very young man, he created a company to manufacture non-standard equipment for fast food, which is sold in 30 years. Arriving on the yacht market, he used his business skills and experience with aluminum — so there is a very extravagant product, who burst into the market. The first model VQ32 (it was a boat for use on lakes) appeared in 2013, it was followed by other models. Due to the presence of customers who, like Tom Stingies, believed that all boats should be one of a kind, there are a number of models that formed the basis of modern collections of the shipyard.

In 2015 Vanquish Yachts has started work on a new project VQ15, the design of which is a >mixture of boats and watercraft. Testing new models >have gone through two years.

In 2016, the shipyard has announced the launch of VQ 90 Veloce, indicating their ambitions in the segment of the superyacht. This model was developed together with Guido de Groot Design, endowed with a body of type "deep V" and partially submerged propellers Arneson was one of the fastest superyacht in the world, reaching speeds up to 55+ knots.

In the collection of Vanquish Yachts speed >aluminum yacht premium VQ from 16 to 90 feet, any of the models can accelerate to 40 knots. Version Veloce speed increase to 50+ knots.

a Hybrid of a tender and jet-ski Vanqraft VQ16 in the model number stands alone, but also refers to the premium category. It is the only model Vanquish, with a body made of composite material. Vanqraft VQ16 bought as a yacht for day sailing, and as a >tender for a large boat.

Any of the Vanquish models can be subjected to deep customization, down to the design changes. At the shipyard ready to fulfill any wishes of customers who are involved in the construction process in a very direct way.

They are distinguished by a specific design, with a distinctive chopped forms, and a vertical stem, high speed and acceleration, excellent maneuverability, comfort and great movement range. Vanquish Yachts Expanding in 2021 after Impressive Year

Vanquish Yachts will be moving into a new facility in 2021, thanks in part to a successful 2020 bookended by impressive sales at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October.

Vanquish Yachts founder Tom Steentjes launched the brand in just 2012, and in eight years has forged it into a respected industry outlier by incorporating all-aluminum construction based around his experience as a marine welder. As a sign of their growing popularity, the Vanquish team landed five deals at FLIBS , including three VQ40s, a VQ58, and a VQ68.

The company's brother-brand, Vanquish Superyachts, has also been active in 2020 with two large-scale vessels in progress, including a VQ80 and a VQ115 Veloce. The keel for the VQ80 was laid in a ceremony at the current Vanquish facility in Urk, Netherlands and is expected to launch in 2022. The VQ80 is a standout vessel in its own right with an impressive spec list, including 4800 horsepower, a 5700 litre fuel tank (1505 gal), a range of 330 nautical miles, and a top speed of 51 knots (58 mph). It will also serve as the chase boat to the Project Skyfall superyacht concept.

The new facility will be built in Marknesse, Netherlands and will give the growing brand better access to sea trials while staying in close proximity to the Urk buildings. In their statement , the company stated “(c) overing an impressive surface area of 5,000 square metres (nearly 54,000 square feet), the new yard in Marknesse is found in an exceptionally practical location. There’s a direct connection to the Ketelmeer lake where sea trials can be held and we’ll also have easy access to the IJsselmeer lake and our commissioning facility in Urk. The decision to move was necessitated by the ongoing growth in orders and Vanquish will now have a facility which provides the very latest features that a mature yard requires."

Vanquish will also be increasing their foothold at their North American facilities in 2021, which already includes their US sales office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and a service facility run by two certified engineers in Sag Harbor, NY during the summer boating season from May to October.

VQ Yachts, otherwise known as Vanquish Yachts, came to be in 2012 when a Dutch man with a vision, Tom Steentjes, took his passion for the latest in technology and gave birth to a brand that would not only show the world something very new, but excite the most discerning of yachtsmen. Tom was a master welder and, in just the young age of his late teens, already had a very successful company that manufactured custom equipment for the fast food world. And by the time he turned just 30, he was ready to sell the company!

In 2013, he decided to merge his knowledge of efficient techniques with the love of breaking the mold with the latest in innovations and toped it off with his extraordinary skills in aluminum and out came the very first Vanquish Yacht - the VQ32… Combining a rich understanding of process efficiency with a desire to push the window of innovation and exceptional skills in aluminum, the first VQ32 was launched to popular acclaim in 2013. He kept up with this creative streak and, with the help of his customers who also had the bug for a one-of-a-kind ‘water baby’ designed various other models —all unique in their own way.

The features are, indeed, special —especially their high-performance engines and luxurious accommodations that fit in perfectly to suit a high-speed yacht as this. With a well-tested hull that’s been adapted in length to suit every client’s requests, VQ Yachts is proud of their ability to customize each model by changing up the aluminum to end up with a new design each time that can suit the wishes of every owner.

Vanquish did it’s research and came to the conclusion that building boats their way - customized - one-by-one —was the most efficient for your pocketbook time and time again. They came to see that production boats made from a mould required a hefty investment and a large marketing budget based on the volume produced of each model. So in reality a series boat is more costly than a customized vessel.

VQ Yachts couldn’t do it all alone so they brought on some of the best craftsmen and engineers to do what they do best to help each budding idea come to fruition. They decided not to stop there but reached out to receive the best expert help from the naval architects, the greatest designers, along with specialist equipment manufacturers.

Who better than the talented automobile designer - boat aficionado, Guido de Groot to be brought into the family of Vanquish. Since, Guido and his clan of designers had a stellar reputation sketching super yachts for the finest builds in the world (i.e. Feadship). The VQ48 was pleased to have received Guido’s special touch!

These fully customized fast driver’s boats offer every operator unmatched agility and fabulous comfort. Hand-built in the Netherlands the VQ Yacht pleases even the most particular people.

Taking a closer look at their premier model — the VQ58 —we see a blend of the best. This power house offers either a T-top or a fully enclosed hard-top model. Yes, one can pick from a one or two garage design on their VQ58 —deciding whether to have it on the stern and/or as a side bay. The two garage option allows for the ability to carry the spectacular VQ11 waterscooter, a Williams 285 turbo jet, sea bobs, paddleboards, diving gear and many other toys.
