AURELIA Yacht – Epic $10M Superyacht
AURELIA yacht is a 37-meter superyacht, hailed to be the tenth unique yacht of its size.
With her owner’s love for sports cars, she is the ocean’s answer to a classic racing car. In fact, she was named after the very first Gran Turismo – the Lancia Aurelia GT .
From her highly distinctive car-inspired exterior to her flawlessly designed interior, this mid-sized award-winning sports yacht exudes style and luxury at every turn.
AURELIA yacht interior
Bannenberg and Rowell penned AURELIA’s interior design based on a car concept. Every vintage detail, from the Linley Aston Martin seats to the vehicle grille bookcase insets, is a work of art, and each one oozes quality workmanship.
The main salon is separated into two sections: a dining room with a wide circular table and a cozy lounge area with an L-shaped couch, two design armchairs, and a Bio Ethanol-powered fireplace (by Australian business Eco Smart ).
She has four cabins that are named after race car designers and can sleep up to eight guests and six crews.
The race car designers who influenced the décor of the guest cabins are Bertone (orange Lamborghini), Pininfarina (red Ferrari), and Zagato (green Aston Martin).
The master bedroom is normally placed forward on the main deck, while the three double guest cabins are located on the lower deck, all having en-suite shower facilities.
She offers spacious living areas laid with a warm and welcoming ambiance for that perfect luxury charter experience with family and friends.
Specifications
The AURELIA yacht was built by CdM and was delivered in 2020. She has a beam of 8.6m, a draft of 2.6m, and a volume of 453 GT.
AURELIA’s superstructure is made from aluminum and she has a semi-displacement hull, which allows her to maintain great seakeeping while reaching amazing speeds.
She is propelled by two MTU engines, which allow her to travel comfortably at 15 knots and achieve a top speed of 30 knots. She has a range of up to 1,900 nautical miles at 12 knots from her 30,000-liter fuel tanks.
An innovative stabilization system aboard minimizes the side-to-side roll of the boat, allowing passengers to enjoy outstanding levels of comfort either at anchor or when on the open water.
Her Gulf Oil Racing color scheme was designed by Frank Laupman of Omega , a Dutch company that is not known for any specific style, but rather a range of different styles, each individually tailored to the owner’s specifications.
AURELIA is considered the world’s finest mid-size sports motor yacht with its spacious exterior areas.
She boasts of a fantastic sundeck, a transom door that folds down to create a large swimming platform, and water toys that make her a popular charter yacht among guests with a strong track record.
Accommodation
As well as the captain of Aurelia, she can accommodate up to six more crew members on board and up to 8 passengers in four suites.
The AURELIA yachts’ master suite is incredibly big and bright, with a huge ensuite bathroom and walk-in dressing area to be enjoyed in privacy.
She has three big guest cabins, each of which has been decorated in a distinct racing motif.
It costs €8,900,000 to buy the Aurelia Yacht (Approx. 9,793,000)

The same legendary Gulf Oils livery also adorned the hugely successful Ford GT40 racecars of the late ’60s, while today, you can even specify these head-spinning colors on the latest $500,000 Ford GT supercar.

Back in 2011, the sports-car-loving owner of a soon-to-be-delivered 122-foot, Dutch-built Heesen superyacht decided that instead of typical refrigerator-white paint, he’d go bold. Very bold.

“The whole boat, inside and out, is a nod to the history of GT motorcar racing,” says Captain Guy Booth, Aurelia’s former captain who is now project-managing the 192-foot Royal Huisman superyacht Phi . “The owner wanted a tribute to speed, a tribute to history.”
Some might argue the owner—who, according to Booth, is equally passionate about horse racing—got a little carried away with the polarizing color scheme. The yacht’s custom 30-foot Pascoe tender—with its Yanmar powerplant is capable of around 60 mph—along with its fleet of Sea-Doos and Seabobs, are all painted to match the mothership.
Even the name of the yacht has a sports car connection. Aurelia is the name of arguably the world’s first Grand Tourer, the sexy, Italian-built Lancia Aurelia GT fastback, introduced in 1950.

“ Aurelia is the ocean’s answer to a classic racing car,” says Jan Jaap Minnema, broker with Fraser Yachts, who currently has the sleek, all-aluminum superyacht listed with a €8.9 million—or around $10.4 million— asking price.
Naturally, for a superyacht dressed-up in racecar colors, it had to be speedy. Powered by twin German-made MTU 3,648-horsepower V-16 diesels, Aurelia has a wave-slicing top speed of 36 mph. Throttle back to its 18 mph cruise speed and the yacht can cover over 2,300 miles between fill-ups.
Step aboard and Aurelia’s Bannenberg & Rowell-designed interior continues the sports car-inspired concept, though in a slightly less flashy way. Look closely and you’ll see the elegant carpeting throughout features a subtle pattern designed to resemble the tire treads of vintage racecars.
The 10 on the side has nothing to do with racing, but was the boat’s production slot when it was built. Courtesy Fraser Yachts
Gaze up and the ceiling in the salon is lined with diamond-quilted leather inspired by the seats of high-luxe Bentleys. And you can kick-back in gorgeous, bright-green leather armchairs from the Linley Aston Martin Collection.
Guests can also have fun taking their pick from three sports car-themed cabins. There’s the Ferrari-red cabin with its eye-popping red-and-black bed covers and Ferrari art; the Lamborghini-themed cabin with splashes of orange; and the elegant Aston Martin cabin with green hues and paintings of custom Zagato-bodied Astons.
Even opening the door to each cabin makes you feel like you’re driving a racecar; the handles feature the knurled surface of a vintage racer’s gear shift. “You could spend three or four days on the boat and still not see all of the very subtle tributes to GT motorcars,” says Booth.
The guest staterooms have Aston Martin, Ferrari and Lamborghini themes, but the main suite is more muted, with images of race horses, the owner’s other passion. Courtesy Fraser Yachts
On a side note, the Porsche that Steve McQueen drove in Le Mans— Chassis 026—is going on auction this weekend at RM Sotheby’s 2021 Monterey event. It’s expected to fetch over $18 million. It has a solid racing history and was one of three cars entered by JW Automotive at the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car hydroplaned and crashed on the 50th lap, but was used to make the movie, which recreated much of the actual race.
As for that standout “10,” set in a white circle on Aurelia’s rear topsides, surprisingly it has no motor racing connection. It comes from the yacht being hull number 10 at the time, as part of Heesen’s successful 37-meter series.
Of course, you could argue that with its head-turning style and surprise-and-delight interior, Aurelia is nothing less than a “10.”

Inside Aurelia: Cantiere delle Marche’s World Superyacht Award-winning Flexplorer
Cantiere delle Marche’s first Flexplorer, 39-metre Aurelia , is built for adventure and has a fearless spirit – from the bold ideas that moulded her to an unorthodox interior design. BOAT steps on board.
It’s usually a question of more space – a bigger beach club, perhaps, a gym or a stellar master cabin. But it’s quite rare to get a new boat built primarily to carry a larger tender. Nevertheless, this is how it was for the proud owner of the first Flexplorer to emerge from young Italian yard Cantiere delle Marche last autumn – 39 metres of elegant go-anywhere yacht.
He already had one of the yard’s first 31-metre Darwin 102 explorer-style yachts and loved the design. “I have spent about four months per season on board Galego and I have to say that she is probably the best vessel someone can have in the 100ft range,” he tells me. “As a yacht owner, though, you make more experience mile after mile, and you understand better your real needs, the difference between what happens on the drawings and in your real life, and you decide to build the next one closer to your needs.”
He’s candid about his prime motivation: the Darwin carried only a 5.8-metre Novurania Chase tender. “Most important was the tender’s dimension. I wanted at least a 7.5-metre jet tender or ski boat in my new yacht, yet I didn’t want to build a boat longer than 40 metres. I didn’t want too much heeling when launching that big tender too. And I didn’t want to compromise the interior volume because of the tender.”
This is the train of thought of an experienced yacht owner – one who understands their requirements very well and is able to translate them into design priorities. Those priorities fitted very well with a new Cantiere delle Marche design called the Flexplorer. Features such as a long open aft deck, an innovative carbon fibre A-frame crane and exhaustive storage throughout the boat immediately ticked the key boxes for the owner. And since he knew he already liked and trusted the yard, it was quite a quick contract to sign.
“You can pick up your phone and call anyone who is working on your boat, and their flexibility in accommodating your needs is beyond any expectation,” the Flexplorer’s owner explains. “It is a very lean company with fast decision processes.”
Of course, a yacht is much more than just a means of carrying the tender around. And central to the Flexplorer concept is this sense of blending Riviera-style luxury with the ability to go anywhere. “You can be in Porto Cervo having a fantastic party with DJs on the top deck and dancers hanging from the A-frame crane,” says Vasco Buonpensiere, sales director and co-founder of Cantiere delle Marche. “Or you can be in the Falkland Islands in complete safety, with two 40ft (12-metre) containers on the deck with scientists making experiments – or, as one client asked us, a painting studio and a small classroom for six children.”
At the heart of the Flexplorer is an over-specced, over-engineered technical platform that gives the boats their enviable efficiency and a high degree of redundancy for safe operation in inclement parts of the world. Twin Caterpillar C32s provide a combined 1,492kW of power, giving the boat a top speed of 14 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots. The intention was for a range of more than 5,000 nautical miles, but the design has smashed through that ceiling. “Having sea-trialled the boat, we discovered that at 10 knots it arrives at an 8,000 nautical mile range,” says Buonpensiere, beaming. “In every aspect – sea-keeping, noise, range – it’s the best boat I’ve sea-trialled in my career.”
Of course, he would say that – he built it. But the evidence that this is not just marketing hyperbole lies in the fact that the next Flexplorer is going to the Northwest Passage. And it has only required some minor adjustments to the design to make it ready. That is in part down to the expertise of Sergio Cutolo and his engineering team at Hydro Tec. As well as drawing the underwater lines of the Flexplorer, Cutolo also designed much of the engineering and the exterior look. The bilges are a classic rounded shape, but with flatter sections aft to create the maximum prop shaft clearance – making for less noise and allowing a larger, more efficient prop to be fitted. There’s a chine forward to deflect spray and a heavy flare to minimise pitching.
“With this boat, we are really close to the bottom of where any improvement is still possible,” says Cutolo. “The fuel consumption is extremely low. Speed exceeded contract speed by at least one knot. The very impressive thing was we did zero to top speed in 20 seconds – which for a 400-tonne boat is not bad!”
Now, dull as it may seem, storage is the other key ingredient to a successful explorer: from toys to trash, freezer room to fine wines – everything you need to maintain your lifestyle for long passages or, more excitingly, when the yacht is cruising out of range of normal provisioning facilities. This is another great strength of the Flexplorer.
“We’re always very attentive when we design storage spaces,” says Buonpensiere. “If you want you can stay a minimum of one month without resupplying, using frozen food. No problem with water and the wine cellar. We have a sub-lower deck with a tunnel that goes from the engine room to the crew quarters. Where there is standing room, we have custom made beautiful stainless-steel refrigerators and freezers for extra storage on top of what’s in the galley. In the forepeak, we have extra refrigerated storage for garbage – also space for luggage storage in the sub-lower deck, and supplies.”
And when it comes to space for toys and tenders, the design really comes into its own. The A-frame can lift up to 3.5 tonnes, so the 8.5-metre Joker Boat Clubman 28 EFB and Williams Dieseljet 445 can be easily hoisted out and stowed on the aft deck. It could in fact also manage a submersible, such as the Triton 660/2. Though it was not the case with this first hull, Aurelia , future Flexplorers will have a crane that straddles the full beam of the boat, stowing in the bulwarks, so it is easier to store the boats side by side. Between the aft deck and the bathing platform, three large vessels can be securely stored, while a handy rack for surfboards, wakeboards and so on slides up out of the aft deck.
When Aurelia is at anchor, the aft deck transforms into a superbly flexible 135-square metre social space with the tenders bobbing astern. A six-metre length of each bulwark here folds down hydraulically to add nearly a metre to the usable beam of the boat. And there are discreet anchoring points for custom-built sunshades, as well as a fridge and a small bar here. But the upper deck is where guests will spend most of their time, split between the sumptuous 10-person outside dining table by the yacht’s interior designer Francesco Paszkowski and a lounge-cum-cinema with a three-part sliding door. This is also where the wheelhouse is found, in whose shadow lies a capacious foredeck lounging area.
Above this is a sundeck that can extend to 35 square metres or more, but not on Aurelia . On this first Flexplorer, it is known as the “private Jacuzzi deck” up here. The owner wanted it to be a small, exclusive space on top of the boat, with a decent-sized fridge, a bit of storage and a large spa pool. “The 130 has a very peculiar layout because they didn’t even want a sundeck – just a small portion open with a Jacuzzi,” says Buonpensiere. “They created an alcove, a cosy place up there for the two of them, so the crew can’t go there.”
It is a move which reflects how confident this owner has grown. Confidence in his own requirements and confidence in the process of yacht design. There are other clues below. Although the Flexplorer 130 was designed with five large cabins in mind, Aurelia ’s owner deferred to his chief stewardess, who told him that she would like some extra technical space. Where the fourth guest cabin should be amidships on the lower deck there is a 16-square metre laundry. “What we suggested to him is still to have a bathroom in there, like a guest cabin, so in case of resale, it’s very easy to retrofit an extra cabin,” says Buonpensiere. “We also added a Pullman bed in that laundry, so when they’re travelling with, say a Divemaster, he can sleep there.”
No less individual is the boat’s interior decoration, which is the work of the renowned Francesco Paszkowski Design in collaboration with Margherita Casprini. It is like nothing else I’ve ever seen aboard a yacht – more like a chic warehouse conversion in London or New York City. “The brief for Aurelia was to create a peculiar interior – it had to reflect the owner’s personality,” confirms Paszkowski. “He doesn’t like a boat interior furnished with famous brand furniture, he likes objects and furniture which have a special feeling and vibe, which tell a story and have a flavour.”
This has manifested itself in a palette of muted colours and an industrial style. Panels of plywood bearing a wafer-thin coat of concrete butt up to steel girders overhead. Brushed oak floorboards underfoot are intentionally cut to different widths to give an irregular, repurposed look. There’s more concrete on the walls, as well as steel framed-furniture, slate surfaces and sofas upholstered in vintage leather.
It’s a theme that works really well – in part because of the depth of detail. For example, the wiring for the lights on the boat is carried through brass piping fixed in plain sight to the ceiling. Outside the wheelhouse, there’s not a hint of touchscreen trickery on this boat; even the light switches are old-fashioned industrial boxes that stand proud on every wall. It won’t please every eye, but it has real depth of character. “Up until now, the percentages are better than we expected: seven to three in favour,” jokes Buonpensiere.
A feature that is likely to win over even the hardest-hearted of modernists is the wine cellar. Instead of stashing the Grand Crus in the bilges, they are out on display for all to marvel at: in a “lift” down the centre of the main staircase. It’s actually two separate cellars, designed by Romagnoli (an architectural metalworking specialist based near Ancona) and the yard, in a series of rotating racks containing 44 bottles each and accessed from the main and the upper decks. But the impression is of a lift shaft full of bottles running unbroken between the two decks. “We are very proud of the iron staircase with the steps covered with leather surrounding the wine cellar,” adds Paszkowski. “We like it, as it fits with the industrial vibe, but the leather gives a special sensation under your feet.”

Watch: CdM Launches First Flexplorer, 40m Aurelia
By Jenna Mehdi
Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche has launched the first of its highly-anticipated Flexplorer range, 40m Aurelia .
Built for an experienced CdM yacht owner, Aurelia combines the robust seaworthiness of a top grade explorer with luxurious finishes and sumptuous amenities for her guests. Her interior spaces are impeccably stylish, as is characteristic of Francesco Paszkwoski’s handiwork. Meanwhile, her near-vertical bow, spacious aft deck and storage capabilities equip her for the most adventurous of expeditions in high levels of comfort.
‘The first Flexplorer will be a game changer, there is no doubt about it. It is actually already a trend-setter project if we look at many of the latest renderings published by other yards on the press after we presented the project. This makes us very proud indeed ,’ comments Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder and Sales & Marketing Director at CdM, in a statement.
Aurelia is fitted with a wide beam of 6.82m, affording her a large owner’s apartment on the main deck forward. On the owner’s request she is fitted with only three guest cabins (two VIP and one twin) accommodating for up to nine guests as well as six crew.
Designing Aurelia with fewer staterooms means that she is able to accommodate generous amenities for a yacht of her size. A well-equipped gym, a vast wine cellar spanning two decks and lots of dedicated space for storage for her many toys, including a removable 500kg crane.
She is also fitted with an A-frame crane encompassed in the deck flooring, allowing her owner to launch an 8.5m tender without sacrificing the full extent of her ample deck spaces.
Aurelia bears a displacement hull, deep and flared in its forward sections to keep the deck protected in all conditions. Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tec Naval Architecture explained the philosophy behind this, saying, ‘ The transverse frame, in line with the shipyard approach, allows for better spaces optimization, increasing the internal volume thanks to reduced internal structures. It also provides additional design flexibility, allowing for easier modifications and customisation.’
"The first Flexplorer will be a game changer, there is no doubt about it." Vasco Buonpensiere, Co-Founder and Sales & Marketing Director at CdM

Aurelia - 2011
Extrovert appearance
Aurelia is a 37-metre sportster – our tenth unique yacht of this size. Her extrovert appearance was inspired by the Owner’s vision for something distinctly different – a homage to sports car heritage. Indeed Aurelia was named after the very first Gran Turismo – the Lancia Aurelia GT. The world’s finest mid size sports yacht gives each owner and their designers the opportunity to create without compromise. From the outset, Aurelia was destined to be highly distinctive and for more reasons than just her racy colour scheme.
First impressions
Gulf Oil Racing colours were adapted by Dobroserdov Design and applied to the yacht and even the 14ft Castoldi tender stored in the large tender garage and launched using the Heesen track system that is both safer and requires less space than a traditional crane mechanism. The transom door folds down to create a large swimming platform.
Step aboard
With interiors by Bannenberg & Rowell, Aurelia’s ‘GT’ car concept required a considerable degree of detail in every aspect of the design. From the Linley Aston Martin chairs to the automobile grille bookcase insets, every classic feature exudes craftsmanship.

Heesen Charter Yacht Aurelia
- By Kim Kavin
- Updated: September 5, 2013
Capt. Guy Booth is in a marina on the Turkish coast, where vacationers are scampering down the dock toward the 30 or so day boats lined up and idling like city tour buses just after sunrise. He watches from the aft deck of the 122-foot Heesen Aurelia as the crowd races past the other motoryachts, noticing the standard white hulls about as much as the puffy white clouds in the sky. He grins as they inevitably stop short, one after the next, occasionally bumping into one another as they point and whisper in his direction. They take out their cellphones and cameras to snap a photo before carrying on, trying to figure out what they’ve just seen.
“Then, in the afternoon, they come back in to take more photos of this boat,” Booth says, intrigued, as always, by how few people ask him about the bright blue and orange hull paint. “Everybody asks, ‘Why the number 10?’ And they ask who Aurelia is. They think it’s a girl’s name.”
Aurelia is a yacht that stops industry insiders in their tracks too, because her exterior bears far more resemblance to a go-fast Cigarette than to a typical megayacht. She unapologetically stands in brazen defiance of the charter industry mantra “neutral, neutral, neutral,” making her the type of yacht whose brochure a lot of brokers might toss aside as too tough to sell. Aurelia is bold, she is racy and, well, she’s just not for everybody. Her looks are the opposite of what brokers typically encourage if you want to cast a wide net for potential charter clients.
Maybe, though, the time has come for the industry to start thinking more like Aurelia ‘s owner. A funny thing happened during the yacht’s first season of charter in 2012: She booked 11 weeks, according to management company Ocean Independence. That’s more than double what most charter yachts book in an entire year, and Aurelia did it in five months. As of this writing, the yacht was on track to do the same or better for summer 2013, crisscrossing the Med with bookings from the south of France to Greece.
“We’ve had charter clients who are Russians, Arabs, Germans, Belgians, English, and now we’re starting to get Asians and Americans,” Booth says. “Every charter guest who gets on loves the ‘look at me’ factor. … It does make you stop and look.”
When Booth and his crew step off the boat to answer onlookers’ questions, they explain that Aurelia takes her name from Lancia Aurelia, which, long before the popular Porsche 911, was the first GT (grand tourer, or gran turismo) car in the world. Gulf Racing, which today has cars competing everywhere from Le Mans to Dubai, sponsored that first GT with its trademark blue and orange colors. The rest of Aurelia ‘s paint job — that standout number 10 — comes from the yacht being Hull No. 10 in Heesen’s 37-meter series. She launched on the 10th day of October, which of course is the 10th month of the year. The owner was forced to choose a number to fulfill the race-car-inspired styling, and 10 just felt right.
Mark Cavendish, sales director at Heesen Yachts, says about half the builds coming out of the Dutch shipyard these days have colored hulls. Most, though, are tints of light or dark gray, an order of magnitude different from what Aurelia ‘s owner conceived.
Cavendish says he would like to see more owners making similar choices, including on megayachts bound for the charter market.
“I really, really, really don’t subscribe to the theory of neutral boats at all,” Cavendish says. “If you look at hotels, five-star hotels do not make themselves neutral. Most will define themselves with a particular style. In London, where I live, you have some modern, contemporary hotels as well as the old, grand, traditional hotels. People like that. I would highly promote anyone who is bold enough to go out and do something that isn’t boring.”
That’s exactly what the charter marketing team at Ocean Independence is doing with Aurelia : educating potential charter clients about the story behind her looks instead of trying to downplay them (as if they could). The company entered Aurelia into Europe’s largest charter show almost immediately after her launch, also using that opportunity to display the yacht’s Bannenberg & Rowell interior, which — while also race-car-inspired — is far less flashy than the exterior paint.
In fact, if you didn’t know to look for them, you might not notice the racing-inspired elements in the decor. The carpeting looks contemporary with repeating geometric shapes. You have to think about the patterns to realize you are seeing designs inspired by tire treads. The carbon fiber detailing on one salon wall looks artistic. You have to stare at it before you realize it is reminiscent of a dashboard. Even the door handles are a surprise as you enter the staterooms. It takes a minute, and then you see that they resemble gearshifts.
“Once people understand that, and they are walking around the interior, and they see the links to that concept, you can see the penny drop,” Booth says. “You can see people say, ‘Aah, now I get it.’”
What charter clients also get — and what should continue to bring charter demand — is a 122-foot yacht that rivals many 150- and even 175-footers in terms of onboard experience. There are four cabins on board instead of five, each feeling large for a yacht of Aurelia ‘s size. Aurelia is the first Heesen ever fitted with a Seakeeper gyrostabilizer system, which Booth says has kept her stable enough at anchor for the owner to sip coffee while standing on the aft deck in a 6- to 10-foot swell. Aurelia ‘s crew has decades of combined experience aboard charter yachts in the 165- to 230-foot range, and they bring that level of service to this yacht’s far more economical package. (That includes award-worthy meals by chef Shane Burke, who took first prize in the chefs’ competition at the 2010 Antibes Yacht Show.)
Aurelia ‘s owner liked the yacht’s original 17-foot Castoldi jet tender, but he recently replaced it with a custom Pascoe 30-foot sport boat — painted to match the mothership — that does close to 50 knots. The Seabobs and the brand-new Sea-Doo were also given paint jobs that match Aurelia ‘s. The latter is “the fastest, most powerful … on the market,” Booth says. “The boss said, ‘I want it sexy and shiny and fast and custom.'”
Other recent additions to Aurelia ‘s program include an inflatable water slide, a full-on teak beach club off the swim platform where the lazarette used to be (with a custom stainless-steel and glass foosball table on order) and a communications system that supports Ka-band VSAT. “It is much, much faster than all the boats that have Ku-band VSAT,” Booth says. “It’s the next generation. … The satellites are going up into the sky in the next couple of months, so when the changeover happens, we’ll already be in position to throw a switch and be online.”
And there are more upgrades on the way, Booth says, not only because of the owner’s desire to be state of the art, but also because of Aurelia ‘s looks. A dozen equipment suppliers have called to ask if they can use Aurelia ‘s exterior photos in their marketing, specifically because the yacht makes people stop and look. Some of the offers have included everything from extended warranties to upgrades in exchange for the pictures.
“It’s because you can see this boat on the horizon and know exactly what it is,” Booth says.
Aurelia is available for charter during summers throughout Europe (including at the Monaco Grand Prix) at a lowest weekly base rate of approximately $140,000 for eight guests.

California yacht owner threatens to kill dock worker in vicious showdown, cali yacht owner threatens to kill dock worker drops pants for rude salute, 78 3/13/2024 8:09 am pt.
A California yacht owner's vicious beef with a dock worker has reached death-threat levels -- and their exchange was caught on camera and included a nude, and very rude, gesture!
Check out the clip ... it all unfolds when San Diego entrepreneur Ajay Thakore swings by the swanky Marriott Marquis Marina in his rare $4.5M Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht to pick up one of his employees -- but things boil over when dock worker Joseph Holt tells him he can't be there.
Thakore, the CEO of medical advertising firm Doctor Multimedia, flips out on Holt big time ... and starts spewing threats like, "I will kill you, you know I will kill you, I will kill."
And it doesn't stop there -- as Thakore's pulling out of the harbor, he drops trou to make a full frontal salute in Holt's direction. Stay classy, San Diego!
Holt's only retaliation was flipping the bird, and he later told CBS8 that was all he could do to keep his cool and avoid escalating the situation.
Holt says parts of the altercation were not captured on camera, and he adds ... Thakore not only threatened to kill him, but also claimed to have connections who could totally mess up his life.
Holt also says Thakore pulled out $100 bills and tossed them at him, even chucking some in the water.
BTW, Thakore's done some backpedaling since the ugly exchange -- he now says, "The interaction that occurred yesterday was regrettable. What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange."
Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.
FWIW ... One of Thakore’s employees claims the whole thing began because other dock workers blocked him from boarding the yacht.
Oh, and if that fancy Lambo yacht looks familiar -- it's the same one Chuck Liddell recently tumbled off just last month. Now it's famous AND infamous!

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee after being told he couldn't be there, the San Diego-based broadcaster CBS8 reported on March 11.
Joseph Holt, a 21-year-old employee at Marriot Marina in San Diego, told CBS8 that he spotted the yacht sailing into the private dock. The owner, whom CBS8 identified as Ajay Thakore, tried to pick another person up at the dock, Holt said.
"I told him respectfully that he couldn't be there, and I honestly was hoping to have a conversation with him about his cool boat," Holt told CBS8.
In a YouTube video posted by @SM-wc9eq on March 10, a dark blue Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is seen sailing out of a dock. A man in a gray T-shirt, a pair of jeans, and a cap was shown standing on the yacht. The man appeared to be Thakore, per CBS8.
Thakore was shown shouting at Holt. "I will kill you, you know I will kill you!" he can be heard saying multiple times in the video
Thakore was later shown pounding his fist on his palm and pointing his thumb down before telling Holt: "To your face!" Holt was shown responding by pointing his middle finger at Thakore.
"I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird," Holt told CBS8.

Holt said Thakore then took $100 bills from his wallet and threw them at him. He added that Thakore mooned him. This exchange was not shown in the video.
"He was saying I'm nobody, I'm nothing, I work a silly job. He said that he knows people, he has connections, he can change my life and ruin it," Holt said. Holt did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
The San Diego Harbor Police arrived at the marina 10 minutes after Thakore's yacht exited the dock, per CBS8.
The Harbor Police told Business Insider that Holt decided to press charges against Thakore and that they are investigating the incident.
According to Thakore's LinkedIn page , he's the CEO of Doctor Multimedia. The company's website shows that it's a healthcare marketing firm based in San Diego. Thakore appears to go by the name Ace Rogers on Instagram and TikTok, where he's noted as being a professional gambler.
Thakore, through his public relations team, told CBS8 in a statement that his altercation with Holt was "regrettable."
"What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange," the statement said. Thakore did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BI.
Thakore isn't the only CEO who's been called out for threatening another person. In November 2021, an Activision spokesperson told BI that its ex-CEO Bobby Kotick had previously apologized for telling his assistant he would have her killed. The spokesperson added that Kotick's threat was "obviously hyperbolic and inappropriate" and that "he deeply regrets the exaggeration and tone."
In June 2020, Lisa Alexander, the CEO of LaFace Skincare, a cosmetics company, apologized in a statement to the media after she had threatened to call the police on her neighbor for writing "Black Lives Matter" on his property. Alexander said in the apology that she was "disrespectful" and "should have minded my own business."

Talk about a bizarre scene that could’ve been pulled straight from a movie.
The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee after he was informed that he couldn’t be there, CBS8 reported back on March 11.
The story begins with Joseph Holt, a 21-year-old employee at Marriot Marina in San Diego, where he told CBS8 that he saw the yacht sailing into the private dock Sunday afternoon. Apparently, the owner, identified as Ajay Thakore, attempted to pick up another person at the dock.
“I told him respectfully that he couldn’t be there, and I honestly was hoping to have a conversation with him about his cool boat,” Holt said to the news outlet.
“But yeah, it completely went the other way,” Holt added.
Captured on a video that was posted to YouTube by @SM-wc9eq on March 10 was an embarrassing verbal confrontation between Holt and Thakore, in front of a host of onlookers.
A dark blue Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 can be seen sailing out of a dock. Standing on the end of the yacht was a man sporting a gray shirt, jeans, and a cap.
The man seen in the video footage was seemingly the local business owner and philanthropist, screaming at the young man as the yacht sailed away.
Thakore was seen threatening his life, shouting at Holt, saying, “I will kill you, you know I will kill you!” He can be heard repeating himself multiple times in the video.
Thakore can be seen pounding his fists on his palm and pointing his thumb down, and telling Holt, “To your face!”
This caused Holt, who is standing on the dock, to respond with hoisting his middle finger in the air, directed at Thakore. Thakore’s screams can be heard echoing through the arena.
“It escalated immediately. It was 0 to 100 immediately,” he said to the outlet.
“I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird,” he added.
Holt said Thakore went as far as to take $100 bills from his wallet and throw the money at him, which landed in the water, and even dropped his pants and mooned him.
“[He] started to make gestures to everybody watching and me. You can’t act that way in public. It’s just not ok. Especially threatening my life, at the very least. There were women and children there. That’s the most important part,” Holt told the news outlet.
Unfortunately, the lewd act wasn’t caught on video.
“I’m a minimum wage worker, he was commenting on that, on my status just because of my job. He was saying I’m nobody, I’m nothing, I work a silly job. He said that he knows people, he has connections, he can change my life and ruin it,” Holt said.
The San Diego Harbor Police reported to the scene 10 minutes later.
Thakore, who goes by the name Ace Rogers on Instagram and TikTok and has a LinkedIn page stating that he’s the CEO of Doctor Multimedia, a healthcare marketing firm based in San Diego, had his public relations team provide a statement to CBS8, saying that he regrets the altercation.
“What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange,” the statement said.
